After driving 6 hours from Denver, we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted at the Social Kitchen with an early happy hour (2pm) and a live bluegrass band on a Sunday! Jasmine was super helpful with local tips, speedy service, and great menu suggestions. We had the Bacon and Spinach Quesadilla. We loved the roasted green Chiles with the bacon and spinach! The Nachos were really good too. There was a mix of Queso dip and mixed melted cheeses along with fresh jalapenos. We are staying at the Santa fe Sage inn and plan on spending happy hour here a few more times for sure! read more

Entertainment: promoted as live music, but it was more like a group practicing in the next room with one door open so you could hear them. This has been my local shindig for the past 9 months, even before it was "Social," and while some things have changed, that's okay. Leah has always been an incredibly gracious and awesome server and if she's there, I'd highly recommend sitting in her section. The drinks are yummy, the food is delicious (even though some recipes have changed ever since the ownership switch and name change) and always for great prices. Although I'd say that one of the other servers has been lackluster at best, I won't divulge her name so as to not embarrass her. Ate here the other night before going on to music. Everything we ate was terribly over-salted, some to the point of inedibility. The "French onion soup" was the worst; in addition to the excess salt, it bore no resemblance to any of he many French onion soups we've eaten over the years. On election night they could not change the channel to a channel that was covering the most important election of the decade in one of their 4 tv's. The bar manager was rude and unapologetic saying that by law they could not show the election coverage, which is just like a Trump lie. We've tried it twice. While Derailed had problems, and was going down hill, sadly, this place is awful. We live nearby, so were quite familiar with the space. "Social" is also a horrid name, makes me think they want my SS#. No physical changes, same furniture, surlier help. Boring menu presented on crumpled, greasy paper copies. Maybe they are still shaking down. No salt on tables. French fries are large krinkle cut and twice what normal people could eat. Mashed potatoes were cold with meat loaf our first visit. Burger was good enough, meat was quite good, but nothing else stood out, and it was way to pricey even for Santa Fe. We used to eat at Derailed 20/year. Two visits to "Social" are enough. Considering the look and ambience of the place, I was surprised at how good the food and drinks were. Social Kitchen + Bar is a new redesign of the restaurant and bar at Sage Inn. If you look at their new logo, you expect a cool and innovative dining experience, but that is not what you'll find. The decor, service and overall vibe of the place is very sub par, what you would expect from a cheezy, "lobby of a mid-priced hotel" restaurant - not like what the new logo promises. BUT, I could not get over how good and up to date the food was, starting with their signature margarita which was the perfect blending of fresh lime juice and tequila and triple sec. I find that a lot of the "purist" fresh lime margaritas in Santa Fe are just not sweet enough for me, and this one is just perfect and tweaked by the addition of fresh sage leaves floating in the drink. A really special margarita that makes it worth sitting through the mediocre live music and lowbrow service. The White Queso dip with Green Chile was tasty but not too fiery, and my party followed that with a couple of their salads which were light and fresh. So, it was the perfect meal, decadent and fatty in the beginning, ending with light and fresh, leaving me satisfied, but not bloated. If only the service and live entertainment didn't take so much away from the experience, I would easily give it 5 stars. So, if you're looking for great food and aren't worried about the dining experience, go for it, but don't take anyone here that you want to impress, the complex margarita with the lovely sage after taste is simply overtaken by the brash service and flat tones coming from the generic country band. Santa Fe has become a world class dining and entertainment destination, and Social is still selling clueless service and tourist trap country music. I hope they make improvements. I'll be back for the flavors and will let you know if they've fixed the ambience. The cool logo deserves better. read more

I went on a Friday afternoon at 5PM and sat down in the corner by myself and was given a menu and asked what I would like to drink. After sitting a while, I noticed that the server was much more friendly to a table of four people. She informed them of the "happy hour" specials, joked around etc. When she came to my table the second time, I joked with her about her better treatment of the other table. She then treated me nicer. I'm guessing she probably figured, the more people at a table, the better the tip? Not sure. Anyway, the 'Power bowl' was very good and overall the experience was nice. read more

My co-worker and I were looking for a place to have lunch, so we decided to try Social Kitchen and Bar. We walked in and were immediately greeted with a simile and felt welcomed. The servers name was Michelle. She thanked us for coming in and told us to please have a seat anywhere we would like. We sat down and from that point on we were treated like royalty. This is my first review and it is too bad that it is not a good one. I have been a patron of Social since it was Derailed. I love the atmosphere, the drinks, the musical choices and the food. I was skeptical when the new owners decided to take Derailed into the Social Direction, however, I gave it a chance. I was pleased when the new management kept the Chef's Cueso and the Derailed Nachos, and LOVED the new Swedish Meatballs. My most recent visit was so unsatisfactory service wise and food wise that it may be time to find a new haunt. The service was sub-par as it always is from this particular server. "The Princess with the Tight Up Knot Buns" gives great servers - such as Leah - a bad reputation and is never good for an establishment. Princess is spacey, often forgetting orders. She is uncommitted and not genuine when she comes to your table for your order, if you can get her attention. She is lazy. Several times I've had to fight for her attention to re-order a drink, ask for condiments or get my check because she is on her phone or talking to people at the bar. And this is on a slow night. When her section is full it is "catch as catch can." She emits and attitude of, "there are so many places I would rather be then here tonight taking your order." However, it is two of my favorite dishes that have change that make what was once an enjoyable experience (because even if I had Princess Up Knot as a server, I had my friends and could always count on the food favorites until recently.) Social's Nachos, stacked Nachos, once were different than other stacked Nachos. Social and its' predecessor Derailed, layered the cheese and goodies in between layers of chips with Black Beans. On my most recent visit they were just like I can get (and don't get because I don't like them) at any other establishment - a stack of chips with cheese on only the top and with Pinto Beans so that once the top layer is gone you are left with a plate of chips. Yee Haw! Not. And then there are the Swedish Meatballs. What happened? They were mouthwatering. They were Swedish Meatballs in a light buttery brown gravy. On my most recent visit and they were .... Italian Meatballs in Marinara Sauce. WTF. So sad. read more
