From the moment you walk in the speakeasy, it sets the mood perfectly. Intimate, stylish, and full of character. The cocktails were outstanding, easily some of the best I had all weekend, and the cheesecake was unforgettable (honestly worth the visit on its own). Very gimmicky. When we first went to Gatsby's, we were unsure of how to even enter the building. We went up the escalator and there was only two ways to go. To the right there was a strange looking barbershop, and to the left, there was another business. I poked my head into this barbershop, and saw a lady sitting in the corner. I said, "Do you know where Gatsby's is?" She said yes, this is it here. I looked around and only saw an old-fashioned looking barber chair and some old school barber utensils. she said it's behind this door right here. OK, so it's a little hidden door in a fake barbershop. I see what they were going for, but honestly, it was a little bit annoying. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly by a man who said Welcome, would you like some champagne? That was nice and we accepted a tiny portion of champagne. I would say a Dixie cup worth. We were then seated at a table. The overall ambience was dim lighting and pretty chandeliers. There was a bar and the whole place had a sort of cigar lounge type feel to it. I immediately noticed that the waiters had this bougie sort of vibe that they put on. I ordered the curry and was told by the waiter that he doesn't think they have any more curry but will check. They actually did have the curry so that was good because that was really one of the only things that was vegetarian on the menu. For whatever reason, he took my daughter's champagne which she had yet to drink which was disappointing. The food was OK. It was nothing special. But wow, the price was outrageous. I also felt like the waiter kept coming to our table, but he really didn't do anything. It felt like he was hovering and really just wanted to get my credit card to make sure that we paid. For a restaurant that has such outrageous prices you would think that the food and service would be better. When we left, we couldn't find the way out so we just went back to the secret door and knocked on the wall. A waiter came running to us and said that's not the way out, It's over there. Gatsby's feels like a restaurant built around a trend that died twenty years ago. The whole Prohibition-era speakeasy gimmick is tired, and unfortunately the food is even worse. The whole experience feels like style over substance: dim lighting, pseudo-vintage décor, and a lot of attitude--but absolutely none of the quality that should justify it. Nobody asked for this. And I certainly should have known better due to the billboard on 25. Everything we ordered was bland, poorly executed, and wildly overpriced for the quality. It's one of those meals where you keep hoping the next bite will redeem it... and it never does. Santa Fe has way too many great restaurants to waste a night here. The theme may be Prohibition, but honestly the food should have been prohibited too. read more

If you are traveling to Santa Fe, you must stop immediately and pop in to the most amazing experience- literally top 10 of our lives! Starts off with popping off the elevator thinking we are lost, to asking for help in a barber shop to getting whisked behind an entry into the coolest speakeasy, Gatsby vibe restaurant and lounge. Well done! Then the top things off we showed up about 20 minutes after the clothes of the kitchen, but they accommodated us and allowed us to order off their main menu. The beef tenderloin was prepared so perfectly with an outside crust and the most magnificent flavors. The pork what did you have a pork tomahawk was so perfectly prepared with a sauce that actually paired really well with the beef tenderloin as well cocktails were absolutely the best we've had in five days of being in Santa Fe. The mixologist know exactly what they're doing. We followed everything up with the most delicious apple mousse dessert. I can't even describe how amazing it was. Our first time in Santa Fe and our concierge at the La Fonda recommended Gatsbys for dinner and drinks. We didn't know what to expect and to our surprise, this was the highlight of the weekend when it comes to an evening out. It's setup like a Speakeasy on the second floor. The drinks were delicious and the steak and vegetarian options were great. We had a mix of veg and non vegetarian friends in the group. The decor and service was fantastic. Hard No on this place. Gimmicky and soulless. It felt like the Cheesecake Factory opening a prohibition-themed chain. The cocktails were weak, watery, sweet and lacked any complexity or nuance. Food was okay, especially the chicken tikki masala that took a hearty bath in smoked paprika. There's no clearer signal that you're about to receive wonky service than having the manager incessantly fly-by to check in on your "experience". We had no less than 4 different "managers", some dressed in street clothes, check in on us at 10 minute intervals. Fucking annoying. Leave us alone to enjoy our mediocre food and stew in our regret over choosing this place for dinner. Amateurs. read more

There is a fun hidden entrance to this speakeasy through a "barber shop." One of the few places in Santa Fe that is open late. Soft jazz music (sometimes a live band), gorgeous decor. Helpful and efficient staff. We enjoyed our cocktails, entrees, and dessert. I will be back soon! read more

I heard about the new speak easy in Santa Fe and was excited to check it out. When we arrived, we were greeted by the door man in the "barber shop" then champagne when we entered. It was so much fun! The food was exceptional. The chef, Zamora came out to say hello and thank you, as we were service members after an event/in uniform. He explained a couple dishes and expressed gratitude for our business. Our server Cynthia was a true professional. She was attentive to our needs and wants. We celebrated our anniversary at Gatsby's in Santa Fe, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we sat down, it was clear this was a level of hospitality and culinary intention that feels rare - almost a return to the thoughtfully curated dining experiences we remember from pre-COVID times. Our server, Brian, was absolutely spectacular. His service was seamless, intuitive, and polished - easily some of the cleanest and most refined service we've experienced in Santa Fe. Based on his recommendation, we began with the yellowfin tuna special, served sashimi-style with a sauce that was truly transcendent. I'm still not entirely sure how to describe what happened in my mouth - a beautifully balanced fusion of Asian and New Mexican influences, layered, nuanced, and wildly complex, yet perfectly restrained. It was one of those rare bites that stops conversation entirely. We then moved on to the yellowfin tuna entrée, which was tempura-breaded and again served tartare-style. It was phenomenal - crisp, delicate, and impeccably executed. The cilantro rice was the quiet hero of the dish, grounding everything and tying the flavors together in a way that felt intentional and elevated. I kept remarking on how every element was complex on its own, yet completely complementary as a whole. Next came the aged prime ribeye, and once again, Gatsby's delivered with confidence and finesse. The meat was beautifully prepared, deeply flavorful, and paired with accompaniments that enhanced rather than overshadowed - a true testament to thoughtful, chef-driven cuisine. A standout moment worth mentioning: I shared that I've recently developed a food allergy to red wine, and without hesitation, the team brought me a wonderful organic wine that somehow did not trigger my allergies - a level of care and knowledge that felt both rare and deeply appreciated. Every drink throughout the evening was meticulously curated, thoughtful, and intentional - truly transportive. We were also fortunate enough to have Pawan, one of the owners, stop by our table to check in on us. He graciously shared some of the background and vision behind the restaurant, which only deepened our appreciation for the experience. That personal touch meant a great deal and reinforced how much heart and integrity is behind Gatsby's. For dessert, we enjoyed the crème brûlée, which was flawless - a perfectly crisp caramelized top with a silky, luxurious custard beneath and also the Tiramasu, perfect! An absolute must-order. We finished the evening with exceptional tequila and fully leaned into the celebration - and it was worth every moment. I truly couldn't have dreamt up a better place to celebrate our anniversary. We also learned that Gatsby's offers live music on the weekends, which means we will absolutely be back. My wife and I felt that the experience was completely gimmicky overpriced, and the presentation of the food was very amateurish. The place is advertised as a classic American speakeasy however, there is nothing classic American about the food. It is a jumbled mess of Mexican fusion. After waiting weeks to visit the Gatsby, I was extremely disappointed by the menu and the pricing of the items on the menu. There is nothing classic American or speakeasy about the Gatsby, instead we found ourselves in a underwhelming we decorated overpriced, strange Mexican fusion restaurant, claiming to be an American speakeasy. Every single dish came out covered in micro greens, which is the sign of an amateur chef. And the flavors were very basic and non-impressive. If you would like a good steak or a proper service, I would recommend going to market steer. The Gatsby is just not a Steakhouse and it is not an American speakeasy.
