Best muffler shop in south Austin! I went to get an H pipe installed on my new Mustang and they did an amazing job. I am a repeat customer, been here with multiple of my cars and they always deliver quality work. Upon arrival I was greeted by the staff, the car was taken into the shop right away and I was out of there within an hour! Their prices are very good, I was not pushed to buy anything else or asked for more money. The estimate I was given over the phone was what I ended up paying and I was very happy. Called at 9AM and got a quote to remove my stock muffler and install a performance muffler (purchased previously) for my 2021 Yukon Denali. Asked if they could knock it out this morning, they said, "Bring it!" I rolled in at 9:35AM they quicky moved my truck into a Bay and had it on a lift, then showed me what was going to be done so we were both on the same page. I was out of there by 11:15AM. 10/10 would 100% recommend!! Friendly, honest, FAIR, AMAZING!! The muffler on my 2009 Lexus IS was falling off, hanging there, completely rusted bracket, and assembly. Took it to my local shop and they couldn't help. They referred me to SoCo. I drove in at 8am on Monday morning with no appointment or anything, nervous about the cost, how long it would take, will I be taken advantage of financially because the car NEEDED to be fixed that morning, etc. Rony greeted me as I walked in the door with a huge smile and greeting that immediately put me at ease!! He had the car pulled in and up in the air immediately, came to get me and then explained to me what needed to be done. and told me what it would cost RIGHT THERE, standing under the car! No over-exaggeration in his voice, no "we will have to see once we get in there", etc. I have never been put more at ease and taken care of at a car repair than here! I will never go anywhere else for a state inspection. I have never had a better experience getting one than here. I was overdue to renew my registration and needed to get my inspection done. Originally I never heard back on an appointment request from Lamb's and then tried making an appointment at Firestone (which boasts on their website you can call to make one). After a painfully long and difficult phone call with what sounded like a young and confused girl, she said I was confirmed for an 11am appointment the following day to get my inspection done. Well that next day, the location called me--at 7 am might I add--and somebody else said they actually don't do appointments for state inspections. So the headache for nothing. Thankfully that same day, a Tuesday late morning, I was searching around on Maps for places and found SoCo. It had stellar reviews and so I called. They answered quickly and said there was currently NO WAIT! I headed right over and pulled in. I was greeted by the inspector who took my keys right away, checked for my insurance, and instructed me to wait inside. There was seating inside but also a table outside so I sat out there for what couldn't have been more than 10-15 minutes and he returned, all done and ready to go. It was insanely fast! On a wim I realized that I need to update my registration ASAP and needed to get my car checked out. I called them and asked if I coudl come in for an inspection. They were kind, smiley, knowledgable. They said it would take about 20-25 minutes. I swear to took like 10-15. I appreciated their efficiency SO MUCH. THat's huge for a business. These guys destroyed the radiator for my 1953 MG TD when I paid them to recore it. They clamped it from top to bottom with enough force to bend the top and bottom tanks so it will no longer fit in the car. I warned them about the need to preserve the original dimensions when I left it with them and they said they understood. read more

i've been getting repairs and oil changes there for at least 15 years. they have never tried to talk me into any repair that wasn't necessary. In fact there been several times when they've talked me out of something that they didn't think would be a smart investment due to high mileage etc. Prices are always fair, repairs are solid, and I've certainly never felt taken advantage of, which, as you know, is not the case with most places. This is not a 4.5 star company. After reading reviews and their responses I feel like it's a joke. l had to sue this guy to small claims court ,in order to get my money back for a bad job they did on a front wheel hub. This is a critical safety repair on the front axle. When I returned to Soco for them to fix it, it came back even worse. Less than a month later the wheel was scraping. Brought it back to them for a third time and they couldn't be bothered to look at it (they were too busy) I ended up taking to another mechanic. I went back to Soco to ask for a refund and ended up in court where Ronnie claimed, I must have done something myself to cause the problem. I won my case but still wanted to post a review. I feel like Soco is a negligent mechanic shop and I chose them based on reviews. I had to learn the hard way why their prices were so low. read more

Was grateful they were willing to clean out what's left of this rust out of a motorcycle gas tank, dropped it off for 195 to remove rust; but he wanted the fuel pump removed so he unbolted it and I got it out unaware of the fuel line gasket/seal. Got a call later that day on Friday I missed so wasn't able to callback until they open Monday. Spoke with them Monday and was told it'll need coating so another 200 to 395 and that's just too much for my books so let them know I'll drive back and pickup. Got there a few hours later and tank just sitting outside and has more rust, appearing to be left out in the rain over the weekend, as I had already removed most with 4 gallons of evorust, but just wanted to be sure it was good to go... Got it back, finished getting rust out with vinegar and baking soda, put back in the fuel pump, install back on bike, walk to store to get gas, fill up to find out while it was moved around at the shop, the seal or gasket that keeps gas in is missing... Hadn't ever taken off a fuel pump on a bike and was unaware, reason had kept it on so far... Would have been nice had it at least had a bit more care as it's caused a mess on my end as I've got to take the tank back off, find another seal/gasket... They're really nice there and I bet they do good work, but on my end I was left out in the cold rain when simply trying to bring business and couldn't afford. Posted this review on Google and their response says I was given the seal with the gasket and bolts of which I did not receive any seal. Responding with a lie from a company is weary, but to each our own and hope it works out better for you then I if you choose to go here read more

I was on my way to an auto shop that had previously done work on my car for a check engine light when my car started sputtering and I felt it was unsafe to drive any further. I didn't get anyone's names but they were SO helpful in diagnosing my car & helping me get a tow truck. All after hours as well, I happened to get lucky and they were still there. Had to tow my car to the original spot I had work done for liability reasons, but will absolutely return to SoCo for any further car work! Great people :) read more

Beware! I do not recommend using this shop for any type of mechanical repairs. We recently took my son's vehicle to SoCo Mufflers/Rony Colindres for diagnostics and repairs of a faulty catalytic converter. We knew the vehicle had a misfire but needed the converter replaced. Mr. Colindres claimed to have done the diagnostics and quoted us the repair to remove and replace the cat-converter for $795. After we agreed to have his shop remove and install a new catalytic converter, we received a follow up phone call, stating that O2 sensor needed to be replaced for an additional $75. A day later, he informed us the vehicle was ready for pick up but it also had an exhaust leak and the OBD2 port of not communicating with his scanner. When I asked how he performed diagnostics on the engine exhaust system if he could not connect his scanner to the engine; he stated they did a visual inspection of the catalytic converters. My son picked up his vehicle and drove it 8-miles home. The engine ran rougher and louder than when we took it in for repair. My son took pictures of the converter to send to us (we live in different cities). I contact Mr. Colindres about the repair because the photos did not appear to be a 'new' catalytic converter. He stated his shop does not install new converters - they 'custom' make them and weld it to the existing manifold mount. An inspection of the work, using an automotive diagnostics camera - to look inside the converter, proved that the faulty converter was welded off the manifold mount, gutted/hollowed out and welded back into place. The metal of the converter and the manifold mount assembly was an identical match. The only new part installed was the O2 sensor. The metal shavings from the converter were passing through the exhaust pipe into the muffler. You could shake the muffler and it sounded like a piggy bank full of coins. We contacted Mr. Colindres with the evidence of the video and photos about his shop's work. He simply said, "his shop doesn't do that. They install custom converters." We HAVE VIDEO of inside that 'custom converter' - it is gutted. Stay away from this shop ----- they do not complete the work as promised and the story changes every time you speak to them about it. read more

I know next to nothing about cars, but I went all the time in college and the owner Ronnie would call my dad and explain everything each time anything came up. I drive a 1967 GMC truck. I'm a carpenter and this vehicle is my only transportation. Last October I installed an aluminum radiator that lasted two months. We'll, when I brought it to Rony at SoCo Muffler, he wasted no time at diagnostics, finding out what was wrong with my car, and even modifying a part of the catalytic converter to get my car running smoothly. This shop helped us out greatly. We were on vacation with our two young children when the catalytic converters were stolen from underneath our truck on Easter Sunday. After calling around on Monday morning and many businesses telling us that catalytic converters were on back order, SOCO Muffler had replacement catalytic converters available and was able to take the truck immediately. They repaired our truck in less than three hours. We thought we would be delayed getting back home and we would have to take more days off of work, rent a rental car for longer, pay for more hotel rooms until we could find parts, but SOCO made it work. Excellent shop. Rony did all the work on my '68 truck exhaust and did superb work. This included fabbing parts that don't exist, removing cherry bombs from the '80s, and recreating a stock exhaust. Beware!!I had a 2011 Dodge journey that just needed basically a couple things that we wanted to get done to it that because of the mileage needed to be done and it was running fine perfect and when I took it to the shop the first time they told us there was a pinhole leak in the radiator and a couple more things that needed to be done and they had to take the whole engine apart in order to get to these problems and then I they had to fix a gasket seal and so I know not to drive over 50 for the first hundred miles which I did not do and then it wasn't driving correctly like it started like jumping and stuff so I took it back and they said there was a whole another problem with a whole another issue so another $3,000 that I had to pay and literally the day I picked it up I was pulling into my parking spot and it just all the sudden stopped when it moved forward the light started all lights started blinking and it was raining in a different language and they came I called them they came and picked it up towed it the next day and charged me for the towing charged me for what they said was wrong with it which was they said it was the alternator which makes no sense and ever since then I haven't been able to drive it because it's so messed up I mean it's drivable but I don't want to continue to drive it because they said after they fixed it that time it was still doing the jumping thing and like wouldn't catch on the gas correctly and so when I called and told them that they're like oh yeah I think there might be a transmission problem which is something you should definitely tell somebody when they're picking the car up and so like I said I'm not able to drive it anymore and this is the second car that they've messed up of ours the first one was in 1998 Chevy Malibu they one of the motor mounts needed to be changed so they said we needed to change all of them and then so they get to doing it and they say that one of them is the wrong part and we always bring our own parts from RockAuto because it's a lot cheaper than their prices they overcharged by like four or five hundred dollars each part so they we told them if they could find the part and they couldn't even supposedly find the part and so now that car completely does not run whatsoever and we still had to pay them the money for the work this is thousands and thousands of dollars later and the whole time I wasn't realizing it and they also one of the things I forgot to mention earlier as they change my catalytic converter on my 2011 Dodge journey and after all this happens I realize they were keeping the old parts that they said they were stuff wrong with and not giving them back to us and we're steady buying new parts for what they say is wrong and I know that people get a lot of money for catalytic converters and things like that so I feel like the whole time they were just keeping the old parts and reusing them on somebody else's car for one on top of just slightly messing something up to keep me coming back they are just horrible never take your car there sorry for the long rant! read more

Ronnie had referred Jorge who came to my home and ran a diagnostics test on my car, the car ended up being just fine, had a stupid gps tracker that the dealership didn't take off, the price was very fair, it would of been more expensive if I would of taken it to dealership, I also got my breaks checked, because they were making a sound a lot of noise and bought it in to Ronnie didn't charge me to look at them. I brought my car in for a change out of my cat converter, took longer than I was told (2 days). When I finally got my car it ran fine but in the payment process the chip reader malfunctioned, and since is was a 1000 dollar charge I stopped and asked it didn't go through before I try again with the same card, he assured me it didn't, so without me knowing I payed another 1k, leaving me needing loans to move into my new house, while speaking with them about it they said they never received the second 1k, (IT SHOWS TWO BACK TO BACK 1k CHARGES ON MY STATEMENT TO THE SAME BUSINESS EXACTLY). He proceeds to tell me it's MY fault and says he's "in touch with the card companies, and he doesn't know where the money went when the charges were to THE SAME EXACT BUSINESS.
