I called around Austin trying to get quotes to get a new muffler installed on my 2018 BMW 430I and called about 5 shops before I called these guys. Don't let the look of the shop fool you! They do OUTSTANDING work, are very friendly, fast and very reasonably priced! Every shop I called quoted me 230-300 buck to install my muffler, these guys did it for 185 bucks and got to it right away! They had to make a few custom parts too! They added extra supports where I asked them to and we're really cool because they showed me the whole process and explained it very well and let me make some choices I feel like most shops would even tell you and just do it. So I glance at my left front tire, and there's a bright & shiny screw in it. I think, "#FML." I don't have time to screw around with Discount Tire or make a dealer's appointment, but I am close to Walker Tire, where I discover they're out of business now. But I happen to notice these guys across the street. I just don't like driving around with screws in my tires. I pull in, the very nice lady there says the tire doesn't seem punctured, and the very nice guy with "Jesus" embroidered on his shirt takes a screwdriver & forceps and plucks that protrusion out as neatly as a baby. I took my hummer here because It was leaking power steering fluid. Paid 700$ for repairs to fix the leak Specifically asked them when i picked It up if there was any other issues, they told me no. One week later after leaving my vehicle parked in my garage, it's now leaking even more power steering fluid along with another huge leak that wasn't there before. These people 100% made my vehicle worse. I took It back there to discuss with them and they tell me that correct, it's leaking power steering fluid. They then tell me to leave It there to fix It, completely denying that this is what my vehicle was originally brought in for. I'm honestly shocked at how bad this turned out. Please beware. Needed to get a performance catback exhaust system installed. Fairly simple direct bolt on for my 2020 Mercedes with nothing special involved other than remove old and replace with new. Shops all around the city were either too busy for a job like that or charge $300 plus, one even quoted me $450. It's about an hour to an hour and a half of labor. That's it. I pulled into Austin muffler and mechanic and was immediately attended to and had the car up on the lift within 2 minutes. I told them it was an easy direct bolt on, they took a look and confirmed. I've taken my 1988 Acura Legend (in great shape) here three times. Once because I backed up into a curb and damaged my exhaust pipe, and once for A/C repair, and one other time for a replacement alternator. They quickly and efficiently fabricated repairs of my exhaust. Simple job but they repaired well and cheaply (I think it cost $60 if I remember correctly). Very reasonable. A/C required replacement of the compressor, expansion valve (I think), recharge and maybe something else, at a cost of around ~$600. I picked up the car with ice-cold A/C, and 3 years later - it still works! I went to Pep Boy's to buy the replacement alternator. They installed it for $90. They worked while I waited and did a good install. I definitely recommend this honest and humble little repair shop. read more

This is where I'll be going from now on for any tire issues and/or inspections, oil changes, etc. I came by to replace two tires that were in bad shape, and they did so quickly with two very nice, solid used tires. I also thought what the heck, I'll get my inspection done too. Everything altogether cost $110, which is amazing, especially since I'm on a tight budget. Go talk to Ruby who runs the place [I think] because she is SO pleasant and sweet; we chatted the whole time everything was getting done, and she did the inspection for me. Do yourself a favor and do NOT take your car here! They are not honest and change what they tell you constantly. I took my car in had my timing belt replaced only to have to take it back because they didn't check to see if my valves were bent i drove for 2 weeks after that fix before it broke down again initially I thought it was the timing belt again but they advised my timing belt and timing were good that they checked my flywheel and tried replacing my starter but it didnt start the car so they came to the conclusion that my car overheated and my head gasket and radiator needed to be replaced after the hassle I went through to get my timing replaced I questioned what they said and took it to get a second opinion to find out that they blew my motor!!! Instead of replacing my head gasket the first time which you are supposed to do when replacing the timing belt and valves they put it back on not only that but they saw my radiator cap was crap because they had to drain the radiator to do the repair and instead of replacing the cap they put it back on causing my fluids to leak and ultimately cause it to overheat and instead of taking responsibility they tried to charge me another 650 to patch it up after they completely destroyed my car!!!! Not to mention my timing is messed up too after they assured me it wasnt! If you value your car and money DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!! read more

I moved down south and went to a mechanic by me just out of sheer convenience and because it was a big shiny place. Needless to say after 3 hours of them having my car, receiving my $1,200 estimate, feeling uncomfortable about a couple of things that they said, and paying my $65 fee to look at the car I literally drove from that place to this one. This is what happened and how all people should be treated - "Hi do you work on loose steering wheels?" Man tells me to show him and walks out of the office to my car. I move the steering wheel and he says "Let me see." -lays on the floor mat of the car moving the steering wheel and looking up around the peddle area for about 1 minute. Stands up and says "Have you taken it to the dealership?" I say "No." He says "That should be covered by your warranty." I say "My car is almost 10 years old you think it's covered under warranty?" "Yes it should be with this car." "If it's not covered under warranty do you work on this?" "Honestly you should only have the dealer work on something like that." "Thanks I appreciate that. How about my breaks?" Man walks to the front tires and looks at them at an angle. "Yeah you need new pads." "What about the back?" Walks to the back and does the same. "Same." "Just the pads no rotors or anything?" (I was told down south I needed discs, etc. which didn't seem right to me) "No everything else looks fine." "How much do you charge to install them?" "---." "When can you install them?" "Tomorrow." "I can't do tomorrow I'll have to do another time." "Can you do now?" "Yes." I go across the street and buy the manufacture breaks from O'Reilly (you can bring your own parts if you want) and they began installing the breaks the second I got back. 30 minutes later I'm on my way having paid 1/5th of what the shiny mechanic down south quoted. In that time I called my dealer that said the work for my steering wheel was covered under warranty like he said and made an appointment. Once again I felt like I wasn't taken advantage of and will never go anywhere else again. I've told all of my girlfriends about this place too since it's becoming a place that girls can trust. Also don't judge a books by its cover since this place looks iffy (being honest) but in the thirty minutes that I sat there a guy in a nice suit showed up and dropped off his car and another really nice car was dropped off for some work. Unfortunately the word may be spreading... From a year ago... Being a loyal dealership person since my car never needed major repairs I was pissed off when they charged me a ridiculous amount for a repair on a part that only costed $30 from their own parts department and that's not mentioning the lies I caught them in when I tried to cancel the service. Needless to say when my car needed work I sent an SOS to my girlfriends and got this recommendation and I was able to bring in my car and own parts with same day service. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. My truck had broken down about a block or two away so I walked over and spoke with Santos. He said as long as I would bring the truck in, he would inspect it at NO COST. I ended up getting it towed over to the shop and as soon as we got it off the tow truck him and another began the inspection. After looking over it they determined the problem and quoted me $380 to have it fixed. At the moment that amount was a little steep so I told them that it was not immediately possible and I would need to scramble together some money to have it done. They didn't seem to like that and immediately demanded $50 for the inspection. Ended up finding someone else that fixed it in 15 minutes and for $200 cheaper. Auto owners beware. read more

But Richard at Austin muffler said no problem and had me reverse right then and took care of me. Great attitude along with Ruby the does it all lady. Great job! I never author Yelp reviews, but this place has saved my neck twice and has been cheap and fast while doing it. In both cases, I was given quotes for the work in advance, work started immediately and did not take long to complete. They are very efficient. They fixed an intake manifold me for me that had been previously 'fixed' at a different repair shop; their repair has lasted (the other shop's repair obviously didn't) and was cheaper.
