I came here past due on my car inspection and no lie - I believe I was here only 8 minutes. We pass this place fequently since we're in the hood constantly walking Congress and little did I know they can test for state inspections. Pieces of advice: - They only offer these certain times of the day. My short term memory fails me so call and double check what time they do these before you go. - You have to wait with your car at the shop. Which ended up not mattering because they were so quick. (This might not make a difference to those of you who do not live in the area anyway) My experience there was short, but for sure that's definitely good thing. read more

Everything about this shop rocks. They were quick, very reasonably priced and extremely knowledgeable. I had very bad luck with another shop and felt uneasy and not safe driving my car. The reviews were correct with these guys. I came in, not really knowing what to do, and obviously having my apprehensions about new mechanics, but they really made it seamless. They didn't keep my car longer than they had to, the payment was very straightforward, and the problem stayed fixed above all else. If you want quick, great, cost-efficient, service these are your guys. Took my truck in for some work and they "just wanted" to investigate another ongoing issue that wasn't affecting the driving capabilities, but does need to be eventually addressed. Gave me a free quote range and figured out the part I needed is no longer manufactured (older truck), but said they could probably find one for me and the quote would vary based on the ease of doing that, which I really appreciated. If you want someone to stroke your ego and talk to you like sugar's dropping out of their mouth, this is not it. They're a bit blunt, but these guys go the extra mile. I had to have my car jumped and apparently the company I called used the wrong battery and jumped my car from the back which causes wire damage. They fixed my car as best they could and always kept me in the loop. They even offered me a free rental which I declined since I live walking distance from work. I had to take it back in and they were honest that they could not fix that specific issue but my car needed new wiring and they gave me proof. I have never liked going to the mechanics and have had several crappy experiences like many others. Ansar and Abhuti are honest, hard-working and never try to suggest anything that isn't necessary. I don't dread dealing with them and know I'll always get my car back with quick turnaround time. I recently had an issue with my seat and the dealership said the entire thing needed to be replaced for $1700 or something absurd. I bought my beautiful 2014 green Subaru Outback from Ansar and Abuti about 6 months ago and could not have had a better experience. Ansar did everything he could to give me the best deal and he did a damn good job! I still get very shocked reactions when I tell people how little I paid for it. Not only was he extremely honest and helpful throughout the sale, he continues to be long after, as well. I cracked my windshield on my first road trip in the car and he replaced it for me the next day AND gave me a loner car to take to work during the day!! I have never heard of or experienced such generosity in this industry. Also, he fixed my bluetooth speaker/mic for AT NO CHARGE after I bought the car. Ansar tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat it, which I so appreciate. Very refreshing. He's a man of his word. I asked him when I bought the car if he would throw in a free oil change for me. We both kind of laughed and and he said he would do that but he didn't have anywhere to document it and said I would have to remind him. When I went in for my oil change today, I asked him if he remember and he said he honestly didn't but he honored it without question anyway. I have been going to this place since 2015 after another local car shop tried to upsell me on $2500 worth of services when my car was fairly new and in great shape. I found this place after doing a quick search and they checked my car out and told me at most I could replace the air filter (only if I wanted) and just needed a routine oil change (which is what I went in for in the first place). Ansar and Abhuti run a great business! They are quick to respond and accommodating based on their team's availability. Clearly explain what is needed, the work and charges. Pls if you are a white women alone with a good people trusting mind, do not deal with this business owner cause he will ripped you off very well. My wife went there alone to have her new used car checked. He changed her total $389. He charged $149 for checkup, $225 to adjust her car's hood retch(lock), which was a bit loose to shut. No part was replaced and it is not 4hours job. Any friendly mechanic would do it for free, yet he told me it took 4HOURS to adjust that?? I don't think so. 4hours are long time to do something into a car. There was nothing to do four hours to adjudt that retch!! Again nothing is replaced. I am in the auto industry, this kind of job should not be more than maybe an hour. This is a total ripped off to a woman alone. He knows that, so he was very uncomfortable when I was talking to him, so he yelled at me, never release his name and hang up on me. Use your comments sense to see this is right service. I checked time frame. My wife checked in her car at 10am, the care was ready at around 2 pm. If he worked on the retch for 4 hours, when did he check up other parts of her car, which was main reason she dropped her car off? He is lying. He knows. You would be shamed. read more

I took my 2005 Honda CRV in at 9 a.m. to have some fluid leaks diagnosed and repaired. There was a lot of activity going on when I arrived, but I didn't have to wait long. The team at CCA told me about their process and how long it would take. I went to a local cafe, and they called me once they were through diagnosing at the time they said they would. They explained that I had multiple oil leaks and a power steering leak. I authorized them to fix them all, they said they could have it done by 5 pm. They called me at 4:30 to let me know that they had finished early. 3 weeks later and I've not noticed any fluid leaks on my driveway, so their technical expertise with my repairs was as well done as their customer service. The team at CCA built trust with me, and even though I wish to never have to have repairs performed again, at least I know where to go to get them when that day arrives! Thanks CCA! read more

My car was totaled in October of 2021 and the used car market is complete trash. After looking around and test driving vehicles I narrowed down my search to a Subaru. While digging through endless pages of Subies that were way over budget or had way too many miles for me, I found one here that fit my budget and, although a very small lot, I knew exactly where it was from my time running in Austin. (Surprisingly I always noted how the lot had Subarus when my group runs past it). I called immediately and was told the 2017 Forester was still available and to come by. (It was a surprise to me because I had called several other places and the cars were being sold as I was on the phone with them). Background: I have a 2013 Black Jeep Grand Cherokee and someone ran into it & fled the scene. There was moderate damage done to my front bumper, headlight, grill & undercarriage. My Experience: First, my insurance did not cover a rental car but Capital City provided me one, no questions asked. I had it for 7 days at no charge! (It was a Subaru Outback & it ran great). Second, they stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process & notified me of any changes to service or timeline. And finally, they discovered more damage had occurred than we originally thought & they made sure to correct the damages the right way, not just a quick patch job. I really appreciate what a great job they did. And I almost forgot to mention... My car was cleaner when I picked it up vs. dropped it off. I drive a 2013 WRX. I came here earlier this week after scheduling an appointment for an oil change about 3 days prior, and was greeted by Ansar. The parking lot was nearly full (I assume they keep pretty busy due to their location), but Ansar stated my car would be done in about an hour and 15 minutes, and since this shop is conveniently next to Torchy's, I left my car to grab lunch. I ended up coming back 15m early, and my oil change was complete early so I picked it up. They used a well recognized brand of synthetic oil, and the price for the oil change was reasonable, matching what I was quoted when I made the appointment. Ansar also took the time to explain a few other minor issues I should consider addressing in a very objective but detailed way, which I appreciated since at the dealership it's often presented too aggressively. I largely try to do a lot of my own car work/repair, but I will definitely be back for future services that I cannot do myself such as any work with fluids and any major work. read more

Needless to say, we required a simple tune-up and had to check-up on a few problems with the Subaru. We were visiting from Houston at the time, and Capital City Automotive was so accommodating. They were very direct and manage a small business without getting lost in a sea of employees. I didn't get any vibe of dishonesty. Instead, they were straightforward about what we needed, what we didn't, and what would be required in the near future. Incredibly helpful and highly recommended. Admittedly, it is in a location that might be easy to overlook. However, the service was great, our car runs fine, and they were so good we'd consider getting a tune-up from them and make a day-trip out of it all the way from Houston. Pretty expensive option. I will say they did find and complete my car's repair quickly and knowledgeably. However based on quotes from other mechanics they are about 20 - 30% more expensive for both their parts and labor. Customer service was pretty hit and miss, which probably isn't unusual in the automotive industry, but given their prices it would take some of the sting away if it were friendlier. I guess if you prefer the convenience of having a mechanic in your neighborhood this could makes sense for you. read more

I had been in search of a vehicle for about a month, not finding anything that really stood out. I found a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek at this location for a great price and low mileage! I went to see the vehicle and immediately was treated with respect. With the deal, the reviews I previously read about this location, and the warmth of the owner, I knew I could trust to buy my car there as well as come back for maintenance and repairs. The day after I purchased the vehicle, I went outside to see the tire pressure light on. Of course, irritated and slightly scared that maybe I made the wrong decision, I took the vehicle back to them. Of course I rolled over a nail on my first night with the car! WOW. This is hands down the BEST place to take your car for a repair. I would know because I have taken my car to 3 dealerships and 2 other mechanics this past year alone. I drive a relatively rare car that acts up consistenly (Chrysler Crossfire Roadster Limited). This time I was having it painted and a part replaced after someone backed into my car (in my own parking lot :( ). They not only quoted me the lowest price but also provided me with a safe rental. They repaired my car in 4 days and that included them sending a hub cap out to a 3rd party. I was speechless. I walked out of there paying much less than I expected with my car performing in tip top shape again. The staff are friendly and when I called, had time to see me immediately that day for an estimate. It only took 7 days total from start to finish to get insurance, payment and car repaired. My car has sat at a dealership for 3.5 months before, so trust me, I was beyond thrilled! I was so happy with my 1st impression of them that I referred my friend who in some cosmic fury also needed car repairs to his pasat after hitting a deer. They repaired his car in 7 days and he also paid much less than expected! He was provided a rental as well. Thanks guys! I'm very happy with my car and my experience with Capital City Automotive. 2005 Honda Accord Every car owner needs to give these guys a shot. I'm not saying they will be able to fix anything - but I believe if they think they can't help you they would let you know right away. I had two issues that I knew about and a third one that I did not know about but they were kind enough to point out. They didn't fix the third thing or charge me in any way to tell me about it. It was my battery. It was looking a bit on the ill side. That's when your car battery is growing that fungus around the connectors. Well anyway the battery test failed. They were kind enough to point this out but also knew that according to the sticker it was only about 16 months old. Therefore still under warranty. At checkout they performed the battery test again so that I could see that the battery was going south. Now - I went to CCA for an electrical problem with my brake lights. The brake lights worked - but not when I turned on my headlights. Headlights on - brake don't shine. Not good. I went into the shop and they were like oh yeah you called. Let's go check it out. See that's different. If I went to Honda they would be like lets do the write up and you go wait in our lobby for a couple hours. Not here. They were out there checking my brake lights doing test, replacing bulbs. It was like pulling into a pit stop and they wanted to get me back on the road as fast as possible. Those quick test did not resolve the problem. So now my second problem. Not easy to explain when the problem only happens the first five minutes after a cold start. But I did anyway. They thought they knew what the problem might be. So I told them to keep the car and I would pick it up the next day. They offered me a FREE loaner. I declined because I live downtown and it would be nice to be without a car. So THEY DROVE ME HOME. I picked up my vehicle the next day and both things fixed. Including that hard to explain loud noise I only heard in the AM. That was three weeks ago. No problems have reoccurred. Thanks guys. You're AMAZING. read more

Really honest, fair and personable guys. I got estimates on some critical work that needed to get done for my Acura MDX. I was told what parts were aftermarket and which ones they had to use genuine Honda/Acura. In the end I paid almost 1/3 of the quote that I got from Sterling Acura. It's difficult to find a mechanic you can trust. I have had good encounters each time I have been there. They explained the problem, showed me the defective parts and advised me against some service that was unnecessary that the dealer told me I needed. They even offered to have a loaner car for me if I give them advance notification. My vehicle was promised on the day/time estimated and no additional or hidden charges were added.
