Always down for Gyros! The staff here was quick and so nice. Food was made right after my order was placed. The fries were fresh and crispy and the gyro was a decent size- they don't skip on the meat. Plus the location was clean which is always a plus. (11$ for my large combo)

Great gyros and great customer service. It's a great change up for lunch. Very casual and comfortable place to eat. Has drive thru as well.

However, we had a double date planned and Kosta's was chosen for us. One of the best choices ever. The atmosphere is welcoming from the moment you walk in; friendly greeting within seconds of walking in, calming colors of blue and white adorn every wall with charming tablecloths on each table, and cute decor. Service was immediate with a carafe of water and a huge smile. I loved the vibe! Ordered a German Hefeweizen that came cold and frothy. Next came the Greek salad with the most juicy, crisp tomatoes, green peppers and cucumbers, then heavily sprinkled with feta cheese, a pinch of capers, and a side of the best Greek dressing I've ever tasted. I was originally taken aback that there was no lettuce, but real Greek salad doesn't have lettuce! I had no idea. Hubby and I shared the Broiler Mix from the appetizer menu so we could sample multiple items. The Broiler mix has 2 chicken skewers, 2 beef skewers, 2 Kefta patties, 2 chorizo, 2 pitas, fries, tomato wedges and a healthy dollop of tzatziki. The pita tasted homemade; it was soft, thick without being too think and didn't taste chalky. The skewers were exceptionally cooked...tender, flavorful pieces of chicken and beef. The kefta (lamb & beef) patties had a nice texture, which was enhanced with the herbaceous tzatziki sauce. The only disappointment was the chorizo as it was overcooked and dry. It was easy to overlook as everything else was a shining star. We would go back in a heartbeat....totally made me want to explore more Greek food there!

Tonight our basket of fries, $6, was woefully under cooked and under seasoned. The two rice bowls, lamb ($23.99) and gyro ($16 or $17.99), were just bad. The rice was at least two days old and pasty, and had no lemon flavor. It shrunk away from the walls of the container as though it were dessicated. The gyro meat was in small shreds, as though the cook were trying to make the meat go further and the amount of gyro and lamb meat was at least 1/3 of what it used to be. Tomatoes used to be cut in wedges were now inconsistent, thin slices. And the onions weren't sliced anymore but diced small and dropped in a small patch of the tray. The BFG had a "weird flavor" as though something was old, but the pita was very good--and for the increased price, should have been better. As one who has been to Greece twice, I did used to enjoy a "taste of Athens" regularly, but the consistency issues are too much for a to-go order topping $77 with tip.

A friend of mine practically lives here- every other day, like clockwork- and the last time I joined, he ordered a full mezze-style spread that felt straight out of the Mediterranean coast: impossibly creamy hummus, cool and garlicky tzatziki, perfectly seasoned kebabs, fresh veggies, warm pita... dish after dish, each one better than the last. This is a casual, no-frills kind of place- so don't come expecting anything overly polished or upscale. The missing star from others? It's purely about the ambiance. But the food? That's a full five. What really shines is the quality, the authenticity, and the consistency. Everything tastes fresh, vibrant, and nourishing- the kind of meal that feels both indulgent and genuinely good for you. They said that only one pizza was ready and the second should be out shortly, but five minutes later I was told that they made the wrong pizza so I would need to wait for them to start from the beginning on that one. So my one pizza stayed in a warmer while I waited for an additional 20 minutes before I could go back to my house much later than intended. I live five minutes away, but by the time I got home the first pizza was clearly not as hot as the second, and both were relatively lackluster in flavor. The amount of bread in their deep dish wouldn't be as much of a challenge if they put an adequate amount of sauce on, but both pies were incredibly dry because it was mostly bread and cheese. Overall, I have no reason to give them a second chance. The pies weren't flavorful, were terrible the next morning, and I spent too much time and money to have that much disappointment. Old Chicago will continue to be my go to for deep dish.

Oh Kabob House... where have you been all my life??…read more Seriously, how have you been open for 8 years and I'm just now finding you? My husband and I found this place completely by accident. We were craving gyros and drove over to what used to be Gyro Shack on Emerald. I had almost suggested going to a different location because I didn't want to deal with the traffic, but we ended up on Emerald anyway. Lo and behold... Gyro Shack was gone. So there we are, hungry, staring at the building. "Well... should we try Kabob House?" Eh, what the heck. OMG. BEST. HAPPY. ACCIDENT. We went in around 1:00 on a Saturday, and I'll be honest... it was empty, which made me a little nervous. But everyone was so welcoming, and it smelled AMAZING in there, so we figured we'd give it a shot. Best decision. We started with the lentil soup, and I am not exaggerating when I say I would come back just for the soup. It's that good. Warm, comforting, healthy, full of flavor... just soul food. Do not skip it. We also ordered the salad, which was super fresh with an amazing dressing on the side, and shared the lamb kabobs. The portion was huge, the lamb was delicious, and can we talk about the rice for a second? I don't know what they put in it, but I could have eaten a bowl of just the rice. They also brought us a complimentary homemade cucumber yogurt dish (I can't remember what it's called), and it was so good. This was honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. When we got home, I looked them up on Yelp because I couldn't believe a place this good had been sitting there for eight years without me knowing about it. Sure enough, the reviews were fantastic. So if you happen to stop by and it looks quiet like it did when we were there, don't let that scare you off. Clearly lots of people have already figured out what we just discovered. In fact, we loved it so much that we brought friends back the very next day. Sunday lunch was definitely busier than Saturday, which honestly made me happy because this place deserves to be busy. The owner, Shams, actually remembered us from the day before and even gave my husband a hug. That kind of hospitality is so genuine and just made us love the place even more. This time we ordered the lentil soup (again... because obviously), butter chicken with rice, and a giant naan with hummus for the table. There was so much food we barely had room for it on the table. Kabob House is one of those places you almost don't want to tell people about because it feels like you've discovered a secret... but it's way too good not to share. Amazing food, generous portions, warm hospitality, and a really nice atmosphere. We'll absolutely be back. (And yes... I'll be ordering the lentil soup again.)
