We sat at the bar, and Omar was our bartender/server, and he was great. We started with happy hour drinks, which were good, especially the red sangria. What a gem! I am a big fan of Mexican food and this place is fantastic. Very festive. They usually have some sort of a deal happening (margarita Monday, Taco Tuesday, etc.) which is nice. My fiance and I went on date night here tonight. Thank god we made reservations; it was packed. It's a little loud but expected. The servers are extremely attentive. You finish something they will instantly take it away and wipe the table down quickly each time. The Mexican mule tasted exactly how it should. The Tijuana tea to me tasted like a smoky sangria. The chips and salsa are complimentary, but they should give a bigger bowl for the salsa it was hard to scoop. We got the chicken nachos as an appetizer and my fiance is a harsh critic of nachos, but liked these. I got the carnitas tacos and he got the carne asada. Both very good. Sofia's has not disappointed me. This is their new location in Old Bridge. Delicious fresh food. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. My steak Burrito was amazing and so tasty. The blackened shrimp Tostada was mouth watering, look at the close up pic!!! I highly recommend that! The service is impeccable. I had a delightful experience at this Mexican spot! The grilled corn appetizer was a standout, with a perfect balance of flavors and grill marks. While the guacamole was decent, it leaned towards the mushy side, which may not be to everyone's liking. The chicken burrito earned a solid 7/10, showcasing good flavors and textures. Came here for dinner with my buddy. The place is all decked out in Mexican fare including the music! Our server was friendly and efficient. I ordered a beef Chimichanga and my buddy had the blacked chicken Chimichanga. Both were large and delicious. Overall a good experience. Went here with high expectations of the food. The hostess, server, and staff were very helpful and attentive. Thats the positive. We ordered three entrees and some varying drinks (mojitos) with our meals. I ordered the steak burrito along with a kids chicken dish and my wife ordered a taco. The taco was average. The steak burrito was 3/4 rice and maybe 1/4 or 1/8 steak. The children's chicken was dry/over cooked with minimal sides. I told the waiter that the chicken was dry which was not eaten and that the steak burrito was a rice burrito. He said he'd let the kitchen now. The bill came out and neither dish was removed or discounted. No manager came over to discuss the issue knowing that two of the three dishes were uneaten. With so many other Mexican restaurants in the area I'll pass on this one and go back to MexiTaco in Aberdeen where a steak burrito has steak in it with a little rice. Was wishing it would be as good as it looks from the outside/inside but that's not the case. Great spot to probably just drink and try all the various flavors of mojitos or margaritas. Tried it but not going back with so many other places that serve generous portions for a cheaper price. Very disappointed but at least the kitchen knows. read more

The food is good, but the service is very slow. I gave 4 stars for the food and the friendliness of the staff. If you're looking for a quiet romantic dinner this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a fun night out with family or friends book a reservation via Open Table to ensure you get a table. Reservations are not required but they are highly recommended. There is parking on site but it fills up really fast so if you can carpool or walk I recommend you do so or you can spend up to 20 minutes waiting for parking. The restaurant is actually a 3 minute walk from bus stop. As I mentioned earlier this restaurant's noise level is quite loud but you can still hold a conversation without shouting. The service is a bit slow but the staff is friendly which helps with customer interaction/reaction. Food portion size is good it depends on what you're ordering. The portion size for guacamole is a bit smaller than expected. You're given complimentary chips and salsa but we also ordered 2 appetizers the Mussels Plate and Bay Street Corn Plate. The mussels were well seasoned my husband said the chorizo made them salty but I felt the chorizo cut any fishiness in the mussels with a delicate broth, the bread served with it was the perfect touch. The Bay Street Corn tasted good but I think it could have used a touch more spice. The Carne Asada I asked for it rare but it was served medium it still tasted fine the chimichurri had good flavor, the bed of chorizo potatoes were some of my favorite it was a lot of food it was also served with black beans and cilantro rice which was refreshing. All their hot sauces were a bit on the sweet side for me so I didn't really have too much of them. The Birria tacos were amazing, filled with so much flavor and the consommé was a perfect umami complement to the tacos. I initially thought all I wanted for dessert were churros, but the horchata flan stole the whole night! We're definitely going again. They definitely know what they're doing, they have plenty of locations and have figured out all the problems. The food is pretty good. Definitely better than most hole in the walls. It's always hectic and busy, not to mention extremely loud, no matter where you sit. The birthday celebrations are cute, but how many can you listen to during one meal? The management seems to be on top of everything, and they seemed well staffed and tentative. We had quite a few dishes, and everything was pretty good. I highly recommend their wings, guacamole and almost about everything. I'll definitely go back again. Except I don't like waiting 35-55 minutes for a table. I like that they ask you for your cooking preference (med rare) and they do a good job making the steak. It has a great, grill, charcoal flavor too. Highly recommend. Portion size is great, comes with 4 tortillas and a bunch of sides. Pair it with the different sauces they have and *chefs kiss* - Steak Chimichanga was good too. It's basically the size of a baby lol so you will likely bring it home with you. - Chicken Quesadilla was decent, but on the smaller end. Nothing out of the ordinary to call out. DESSERT: - Horchata flan was a no go for me. It has a strange almost artificial candle taste to it like you walked into a Micheal's craft store. - Chocolate Mousse Cake was decent, but a bit underwhelming. It was our waiter's favorite dessert and I thought it just tasted like a mid chocolate cake. Nothing special. However, the size of it is huge so if you're looking for something to fill you up after your entree, get this. The service was great. But when I got the check, they billed me for the birthday ice cream--I didn't even ask for it! Today at 2:45 my husband and I had a reservation at sofias taqueria. they seated us right away, service was great and food was great! The desert flan was to die for! Portions were big as well. I got a chicken chimichanga covered in melted cheese sauce. It was huge! My husband got the mole enchiladas. He's a snob when it comes to Mexican food as he's Hispanic himself, and he said they were sooo amazing. I'm not a fan of mole so I didn't try. He also got Birria tacos which he said were good too! Whenever we try a new spot he's so hard on the food and usually never wants to return. He's a creature of habit when it comes to eating out. Same restaurant same meal. However he loved this place and we can't wait to return! The horchata flan was soooooo good. So we were looking for a Mexican restaurant in the area that had frozen drinks. We wound up finding Sofias Taqueria that was fantastic. Our server Antonio was spot on recommending drinks. I had a shot of sipping tequila that was recommended by Antonio. It was delicious accompanied by the chips and salsa. My wife had a frozen margarita that was good. We had the Habanero wings for appetizer and they were perfectly spiced . For dinner Antonio recommended the Carne Asada platter that was excellent. It was accompanied by small chunks of potato that were delicious. The rice and beans were some of the best I've had . The steak was cooked perfectly! I highly recommend this restaurant. Negative experience for a first timer On the menu it indicates Happy Hour Monday through Friday however when when I got to the restaurant, the waitress said it was only Monday through Thursday. Then we proceeded to sit down, and we ordered drinks. We were specific on the amount of ice we wanted in the drink, and the drink came back full of ice, we told the waiter, and when he took the drink away, he came back. It was less than a half filled up. All he did was took the ice out and didn't even offer us a new drink because of his error, also there seems to be a charge when you go from paying cash and non-cash of three dollars I really was not happy with the service. The drinks were 12 bucks so we paid $12 for a glass with ice in it we will not be going back. read more

My wife and I went to Sofia's for the first time this past Saturday. It was formerly The Bridge Dinner and as much as they painted, it still feels like you are eating at a diner. We both had a cocktail, the Tijuana tea, it was good, but my wife cocktail was much stronger than mine, which is weird as they were the same cocktail. I had the carne asada, which is a skirt steak over potato and chorizo hash. It was good, but a little bland. Not sure why it came with rice and beans - seems like overkill. My wife had a steak burrito. It was ok - no different than the same thing she gets at any other Mexican restaurant. We ordered desert, a Mexican chocolate mousse that turned out to be a cake with 'chocolate mousse' frosting - I have had Mexican chocolate before - not a bit of spice to this mousse. Plus the desert was 99% cake, rather than mousse. However, the worst part of the meal was the rushed experience. When I get a cocktail, I wish to enjoy it before my meal. The waitress was asking for our order almost the moment we sat down. We put it off once, but gave it the next time she asked. We had our cocktail for just a few minutes before the meal came out. The waitress was also asking if we were finished with our meals multiple times. We had a cocktail, dinner and dessert and were at the restaurant 45 mins start to finish. We also noted that many other tables were coming and going quickly as well. Not a pleasant experience, especially considering their prices are higher than any other Mexican restaurant in the area. "Chipotle with table service" I had a reservation tonight at 6pm with a friend. The main parking lot was full with more cars waiting, like vultures for an open space to appear. I found the overflow lot which is unpaved and muddy and had to drive to the far end of that to park. After trekking back to the restaurant I went to my table and joined my dining companion. The menu looked good and was comprehensive and we ordered. We started with guacamole, their "secret recipe" which was a relatively small portion for the price. It was good however. I ordered the Asada pork burrito and she ordered the Carnitas tacos. The food came very fast, that was where the good service stopped. Hers were dry and needed extra sour cream to be swallowed. Mine was OK but not hot, only warm. Mine was also served on paper on the plate, so cutting it with a knife cut the paper as well which I didn't want to swallow so I pulled that away and continued to eat. The entrée had no accompaniments whatsoever except the sour cream. There is no ambience. It is loud and annoying. There are lots of large parties with children and if somebody is having a birthday, they blast a happy birthday song over the PA system and the entire staff and apparently the entire restaurant gets up and yells happy birthday and claps and sings, which is even more annoying if you're not in a mood or drunk on margaritas. For a guacamole appetizer, one seltzer and two entrées, the bill came to $53 without a tip which I believe is quite pricey for the quality of the food. Also, with the negative parking lot experience and the overall negative ambience, we will not be going back. read more

So disappointed. I was so excited to go try a new place that looked really nice, but was quickly thrown a few curve balls. Upon entering the large parking lot, I saw every spot was taken. I waited about three minutes before someone pulled out and I was able to park. When I got to the door, I was told it would be about a ten minute wait. She took my number and said I would receive a text when my table was ready. True to her word, we were seated in ten minutes. We were immediately brought chips & salsa. They were very good. The portion was small, but the salsa was very good. Our waitress was pleasant and took our drink and food order quickly. The food arrived about 10-15 minutes after ordering. Unfortunately, both dishes were very bland and lacked flavor. The carnitas burrito was warm and had cubed meat pieces which I've never seen. The cilantro-lime rice that was inside the burrito, lacked flavor as well. As we were eating, we felt rushed by the number of times we had a bus man continually circling our table. We asked for a refill on our soda then asked for the check. To our surprise, we were charged for the two refills without being told. We were immediately seated after checking in. Hubs ordered the Blackened Redfish, which comes with black beans, cilantro rice and pineapple sauce. He never had redfish before and was intrigued by it. He was underwhelmed by it either the fish didn't have the proper preparation or the fish was bland. But, he didn't know and appreciated trying it, though. Daughter had the Birria Tacos, which are griddled tortilla, braised short rib, cheddar, cilantro, onion and beef consommé. She loved it a lot and thought the consommé was just the right touch for the birria. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos, which is blackened shrimp, cabbage slaw and avocado ranch. Hubs and I were underwhelmed. It was bland as well. We came here on a Taco Tuesday and if you order a taco entree, you'll get a free appetizer. I got the Sofia's Secret Guacamole. This was tasty and fresh. We liked it and thought it was good. Hubs usually doesn't like avocado or guacamole but we brought it home and he finished it. I also ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup, which has roasted chicken and tomato broth, grilled corn, pinto beans and tortilla confetti. I thought it wasn't really flavorful but it was very hearty. Came here for an early dinner in a Sunday. Tables are well spaced, music is loud. Place is well decorated. My party of 4 was seated, menus were given. Menu is one side with the Mexican usuals. Gluten free items were not clearly marked though it was stated that tacos were made with half corn/ half flour tortillas but you could either get a GF corn tortilla or a full flour tortilla upon request. We started with guacamole - which had a very smooth texture with chunks of tomatoes but needed more lime IMO - and I confirmed tortillas were corn (gluten free). I ordered a shrimp burrito bowl and about one quarter through eating it I found a small rubber band in my food. Waiter was called over and dish was taken away, manager came over to apologize and offered to bring me the menu to order a replacement meal. Ordered a salad with dressing on the side - this way I could easily see if anything was in it. Romaine lettuce in salad was crisp and dressing was a good blend of creamy with a little bit of spice. Dessert menu did not have GF indicated on menu but waiter confirmed the horchata flan was GF. Firm texture, sweet and cold but not a lot of cinnamon detected. Also ordered a Mexican hot chocolate that was just mid. No hot pepper heat to it whatsoever and it tasted just like bland hot chocolate. Manager did take original burrito bowl with shrimp off the check and also credited some appetizers due to rubber band incident. Overall it is an ok place, nothing spectacular. read more
