    The sewing in the sleeve
    Oren C.

We went here based on the other amazing Yelp reviews he has received and we had a terrible experience. Terrible. He said he could handle our wedding party, but he couldn't. He could not keep his various excuses for poor workmanship straight. Of all the grooms men in the wedding each and every one of us had an issue that needed to be fixed. He was unable to fix these issues for me, even after I went to his shop to give him the opportunity. I had to go to another tailor and spend HALF the amount I had already paid for the suit to get it corrected. The tailor asked me if I had tried to fix it myself. That is the quality of the workmanship at Sofyano's shop.

It's official: I now have a "suit guy". Sam came highly recommended by a dear friend after he got sat up with a dapper suit upgrade. But as many know, the customer experience is often worth just as much as the product itself in my book. I sent a message through Facebook about making an appointment and heard back almost immediately, penciling me in for just two days later. I arrived on an early afternoon, welcomed upon arrival by name even though we hadn't formally met. Within a minute, I was walked to the back mirror with a handful of options. I asked if he needed my sizes or wanted to measure me (I admit, I'm an awkward shape). He shook his head in disapproval, claiming, "These are Italian sizes - you're current size won't matter. I think I know your size." At first glance, I was skeptical. But as I put on the first jacket, much to my amazement he nailed my size exactly. We chatted about life, business, and politics, all while he was sizing me up and figuring out in his head how he was going to alter the suit to my body. When I found the perfect color and style, he showed me what he could do with a few pins on one side to note the differences it made (and he was so right). I thought we'd spend another hour or so trying to pin up both sides but he led me back to the dressing room and said he was all set. Just three days later I came back in to try on the suit, in complete amazement by 1. his speed 2. his ability to get it all right with just a few pins as reference and 3. his continued conversation and personality. I wore the suit to a holiday party the next day and was swarmed with compliments...because isn't that the whole reason why we wear suits? With Sam, I was able to get both the service and the product quality that I desired, leaving the small, downtown Columbus shop feeling confident, comfortable, and classy. There's an old proverb that states "You've gotta spend money to make money." And while I'm no economist, I've learned that feeling like a million bucks doesn't mean you've got to spend it. A visit to Sofyano will do just fine.

Walked in 4 hours before a wedding. Had me tailored looking great 2 hrs later. Love this place!

In one of the pics I saw a little beehive Christmas ornament so thought I would go check it out (my mom is bee anything crazy). I wasn't sure where the GPS was taking me but once I saw the beatiful mural on the side, I knew where I was heading. Really friendly staff and some really cute gifts here. I was promptly greeted when I came in and was offered some coffee or water. I had to pass as it was a quick stop but I really liked the vide here. The shop had a bit of everything including clothing, candles, jewelry, and all sorts of gifts including some gorgeous drinking glasses. Definitely worth browsing just to check it all out. Overall, it looked like the general price point is on the higher end but nothing too outrageous for a boutique shop. I did find the ornament I saw in the picture but I know my mom already has the same one, or one that could pass off as its twin anyway. So many cute gifts and would totally visit again even though I didn't find something this trip. I really had to resist buying something just to buy it (holidays and all) but they have so much cute stuff.

Super friendly and knowledge staffs.  Also, there is ample parking outside of the store.

Unfortunately, the customer service was a completely different story. It's a very small boutique, yet we were never acknowledged--not a hello, not an offer to help, nothing. Meanwhile, the manager/owner appeared completely occupied with another woman who dominated the conversation at length about having so many clothing options that she couldn't decide what to wear to an upcoming event. We browsed for quite a while and were fully prepared to spend money, but after being completely ignored, we ultimately decided to leave. For a small boutique, the personal shopping experience should be part of what makes you want to shop there rather than online or at a larger retailer. The merchandise at Ladybird was lovely, but unfortunately the lack of even basic acknowledgment made us feel as though our business simply wasn't important. Such a shame, because we really wanted to love this store.

The store is located just off of High on First Avenue, and the only reason we spotted the tiny clothing store was because of a sign that read "Designer Clothes at 'Knock Off' Prices". There was one more thing that caught my eye on that sign, the part that read sizes went up to 20! I'm not a fashionista by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe it's because as a plus size girl I find it really difficult to find name brand clothing in my size that doesn't look like a floral print potato sack. Savvy on a Shoestring is small, with a couple hand fulls of outfits in each size category. Some of the brands I hadn't heard of, but I did notice a fantastic Vera Wang dress on display. Clothing ranges from business, active wear, evening dresses and accessories in the form of handbags and sunglasses. The lady behind the counter was pleasant to talk to and I told her how happy I was that they carried plus size clothing. She said both her and the owner were larger women, so they tried to look after us curvy girls. However, due to a lack of interest (or perhaps a lack of knowledge) from their customer base, they were going to start scaling back their plus size line. Don't let this happen, Columbus! I just found this great treasure of a store!

The store is also tucked on a side street behind Grandview Mercantile. These factors add up to one thing: me forgetting that Savvy exists. But one of my friends went in recently, and she couldn't stop raving about the place. She put three or four things on hold, all major name designers like Versace, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana...Everything is offered at a huge discount. You can find a $400 pair of jeans selling for $40. I don't know how they do it, but they do. So, this past Holiday Hop, I made it a point to stop in. The store was small but full of clothing neatly arranged on racks by size. Personally, I couldn't find anything that was my style. Everything looked like it was selling to an older crowd. They had a bit of everything from sweat suit jumpers to skirts, blouses, and rain boots. There weren't many duplicate pieces. The workers were nice and had York Peppermint Patties for us. If you're a label whore, give Savvy a peek. It's oddly affordable in a neighborhood full of $200 sweaters.
