I was constantly chasing them for timelines, and they rarely picked up the phone. They told me my suit would be ready in a month, so I showed up on that date and they didn't even have the correct information on my order. They kept calling me by the wrong name, and when I finally tried the suit on, the fit was awful. When I asked the owner why the fit of this made to measure fit was awful, he shrugged and said, "I'm not a magician. Let me just give you a refund" that was a month wasted. That's not just bad customer service--it's insulting. The entire process made me anxious that I wouldn't even have a suit in time. I ended up going to Pursuit instead, and the difference was night and day. Pursuit was organized, welcoming, and professional. They delivered a high-quality suit that fits like a glove. Yes, it was slightly more expensive--but I'd pay three times more for the peace of mind and the product they delivered. Sofyano was a waste of time and energy. We scheduled an appointment online for a wedding consultation. We do not have a bridal party...just the two of us. When we arrived, the person working had no idea of our appointment. When I asked to see my partner in some suits he didn't let him try anything on. He just said, "We can do whatever you'd like." We are not formal people so we have no idea what we like. We brought in photos from their store to share and all that could be said to us was, "We can do it." No showing us photos, no telling us the process, no nothing. Our hour "appointment" lasted less than 15 minutes. My fiancé called the store this morning to speak with the owner and a young lady answered and talked to him. We went here based on the other amazing Yelp reviews he has received and we had a terrible experience. Terrible. He said he could handle our wedding party, but he couldn't. He could not keep his various excuses for poor workmanship straight. Of all the grooms men in the wedding each and every one of us had an issue that needed to be fixed. He was unable to fix these issues for me, even after I went to his shop to give him the opportunity. I had to go to another tailor and spend HALF the amount I had already paid for the suit to get it corrected. The tailor asked me if I had tried to fix it myself. I came here for a wedding suit and gave them 4 weeks to tailor. Abdul kept telling me he would "check on it." After six weeks from my order and my wedding approaching I had to get another suit due to the uncertainty. For a business suit it's one thing but missing deadlines and not communicating for a wedding suit is unacceptable. There are plenty of shops with quality clothing. I purchased a $800 suit for my wedding and I had them line up some alterations to make it fit a little better. My suit was due to arrive on 2/12 (which they claim it did). Well, it's 3/8 and I'm STILL trying to get my suit picked up. Some days they are open, some days they are closed. Some days appointments only, some days nothing. I have even just randomly showed up when they are supposed to be open and it's closed. I even tried to make an appointment and was denied! Since this is my 4th try at trying to pick up my suit, I finally just said, "you tell me when I can pick up my suit?" He said, "Saturday." So, I'm writing this review before I even get my suit. If you or your guy need a suit, RUN to Sofyano. Listen -- I am the worst possible customer for a suit, and Sam made me feel like a million bucks. I can literally count on one hand how many times I've needed to wear a suit in my life. 99.9% of the time you can find me in shorts, jeans, tshirts, and hoodies, but recently I found myself with multiple reasons to be a bit (read: WAY) more dressed up than normal. So what's a casual, not ideally-sized guy to do? Well I adore Nate DeMars at Pursuit, but let me assure you -- I am *not* Pursuit sized. What's next? Those awful places at the mall? Do you want to know how they treat fellas like me? They take one look at my size and assume I'm just a slob and any ol' tent will do. Seriously, they have little to no actual knowledge of suits and fit, so if you're not shaped like a model, you're SOL. In a nutshell, this is a painful and terrifying experience for me. I remembered Brad S's review of a shop downtown, and I found it (on Yelp, obvs). I used the 'message the business' feature, crossing my fingers that someone would even respond to me. I mean -- blindly walking into a place gives me a panic attack just thinking about it. What I got in return was the kindest message from Sam, the owner. He assured me that he would take care of me and that I would feel great. He went on to say that my body type wasn't a problem and that I would look like a million bucks. Wow -- I was getting body positivity messages through Yelp... crazy. When I arrived at Sofyano, Sam warmly welcomed me in, and he explained how everything would work. I professed my ignorance, and he (once again) assured me he would take care of me. And he did. Sam took a lot of time with me, but I also saw him interact with guys in a hurry -- and he was able to masterfully maneuver both situations. I swear you could spend 10 minutes here and get a perfect fit, or if you're more hesitant like me you'll get all the hand-holding you need. Sam showed me some options to get a feel for what I liked, but he didn't leave me with a gazillion choices where I felt overwhelmed -- I really appreciated him telling me what would look good on me. Then he pinned me up and told me how great I looked. We picked out a shirt and tie, and I was on my way. It was time for the (usually) awkward part -- paying for the suit and alterations. But you guys -- HE DOES ALL YOUR ALTERATIONS FOR FREE. My suit was totally affordable in the first place (about $400), but I really expected a huge cost for the major alterations he was going to have to make. Oh, and he was able to get everything done in time for a big event I had a week later. So how did everything turn out? I'm pretty hard on myself, but I felt extremely comfortable and confident -- more so than I ever have before in a suit. I can't recommend Sofyano enough -- I swear Sam will take care of you too. TL;DR Sofyano is a small suit shop downtown with high-quality, reasonably-priced clothes. The owner, Sam, will make you feel incredibly special and will get you looking spiffy in a jiffy. read more

It's official: I now have a "suit guy". Sam came highly recommended by a dear friend after he got sat up with a dapper suit upgrade. But as many know, the customer experience is often worth just as much as the product itself in my book. I sent a message through Facebook about making an appointment and heard back almost immediately, penciling me in for just two days later. I arrived on an early afternoon, welcomed upon arrival by name even though we hadn't formally met. Within a minute, I was walked to the back mirror with a handful of options. I asked if he needed my sizes or wanted to measure me (I admit, I'm an awkward shape). He shook his head in disapproval, claiming, "These are Italian sizes - you're current size won't matter. I think I know your size." At first glance, I was skeptical. But as I put on the first jacket, much to my amazement he nailed my size exactly. We chatted about life, business, and politics, all while he was sizing me up and figuring out in his head how he was going to alter the suit to my body. When I found the perfect color and style, he showed me what he could do with a few pins on one side to note the differences it made (and he was so right). I thought we'd spend another hour or so trying to pin up both sides but he led me back to the dressing room and said he was all set. Just three days later I came back in to try on the suit, in complete amazement by 1. his speed 2. his ability to get it all right with just a few pins as reference and 3. his continued conversation and personality. I wore the suit to a holiday party the next day and was swarmed with compliments...because isn't that the whole reason why we wear suits? With Sam, I was able to get both the service and the product quality that I desired, leaving the small, downtown Columbus shop feeling confident, comfortable, and classy. I truly enjoyed my experience at Sofyano. After visiting the store last fall during a downtown association event, meeting the owners and hearing their stories, I was anxious for an excuse to come back and buy some clothes. With several upcoming weddings, I had my opportunity. I stopped in over a lunch hour and was assisted by both owners. I described what I was looking for, which they understood immediately. I was shown several options, in varying price points. The best part of the selection experience is the feeling that the owners truly care what you're looking for, what you think of what you're trying on, and what the purpose of your clothes are. The goal is not to upsell you, the goal is to find the best clothes for your desires and purposes. In the end, I found a full suit and a sport coat that were outside my ordinary comfort zone for formal clothes, but that I'm very excited to own. I was stunned by how affordable these items were, given their quality and trendiness. The tailoring services for each piece are included in the price, and it is performed impeccably. This isn't hyperbole - these gentlemen have an eye for tailoring, and can adjust any piece so that it fits absolutely perfectly. Sofyano was everything I was looking for in buying a quality suit in Columbus. I had always wanted to have a "suit guy", a good tailor that I could get to know and trust in their advice without wondering if they were trying squeeze extra money out of me. Sami (the owner) is that guy. Over the last week I've made trips to Macy's, Nordstrom's, Men's Wearhouse, Jos. A Banks, and a new startup called Pursuit, and never really felt good enough about any of the selections to pull the trigger. My price range was $200-$350 for one suit. At these other stores, I tried on dozens of lackluster suits under $300, and some others more expensive that just didn't seem worth the extra money. At SOFYANO, however, the second I put on a $300 Italian suit I could tell the difference between it and all the others. I ended up going for a $350 suit because it just felt - that - good. I'm a 6' 2" 175 lb male, athletic build, and I went for a long, slim, trim dark navy Italian suit that was exactly what I was looking for. I also needed a new pair of brown shoes and Sami picked out some very sharp Italian shoes for $120 that went perfectly with the suit, and will go well with the suit I already have. I ended up spending a little more than I had anticipated when I started shopping but I think it's worth every extra penny, and not something that I feel I'll need to upgrade in 3-4 years when I make more money. Sami is not a businessman. It's not his goal to run a highly profitable business or woo you with huge savings and blockbuster deals. I could tell he just wants make a solid living and do something he's very passionate about. In shopping at the previous places I got annoyed with the constant "60% off a $700 suit" or the famous "buy one (at $650) get one free" deals. I just wanted to know what the damn things should cost in the first place and chose a price range based on how the suit felt and fit. Sofyano just prices everything reasonably at what it takes to stay in business and might cut you a small deal out of his margin if you get several things on a visit. He will tailor your suit for free with your purchase and he even cut a leather belt down a few inches for me before I walked out the door (I didn't even know you could do that). If I made more money or was going to be in Columbus for several more years, I would be going back the Sofyano for a very long time. I might actually start saving more just for the purpose of getting another suit or two there before I graduate. Also, I swear this is not a "planted" review. I literally just had such a good experience today and saw there were not many reviews yet that I thought he deserved all of this information on here. I had a terrible experience and can go on and on with the entire story, but would rather summarize. Asked for more room in my pants since they were way too tight. He said he would do so after significant arguing and me feeling threatened as a paying customer (I was in a wedding party, so had no choice to take my money elsewhere). I got the suit and no changes were made. During the wedding festivities, the pants ripped from the back waist to the bottom of the zipper. I'm glad they waited until after the photos to rip and I'm thankful I brought a similarly colored as a backup. I returned the suit and he refused to give me a refund. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company and am glad that was successful and I never have to talk to the owner again. read more

This review is a bit overdue. I was browsing Yelp for a local place to recommend for my now husband, as he needed to buy a suit for our upcoming nuptials and had no clue where to start. He definitely wanted to shop local, and not go to one of those 'mens warehouse'-type of establishments. Anyway, Sofyano came up on Yelp as highly-rated, and he stopped in to check them out. Turns out that just about everything is handled by one guy, Sam, and he is really helpful! My husband isn't the most adept at knowing what style is popular or what fabric is best (no offense to him) and he ended up with a really nice light gray suit with a blue tie that perfectly matched my dress for the big day. He also was recommended a great pair of shoes to go with the suit and the underlying dress shirt as well. Everything was tailored to fit perfectly, and now he has a really nice suit to wear for other special events. We recommended our friend Adam to Sofyano's as well since we had such a great experience.
