Came from Geneva by train, tried the place on a Sunday night on a whim. Amazing. Truly fresh, perfectly cooked pasta, excellent sauce. Despite many places we like and commonly go ti in Geneva, my wife and I agreed that this was the best sauce and pasta we have had in the area. Went to Il Sogno last night and got lucky with a roof top seat. Which is amazing. The staff was fun and very attentive. The table bread is amazing, we feel sorry for those who do not eat bread. This is some of the best you will get. Great crust and a soft interior that goes perfect With the olive oil and cheese. We started off with their chopped salad and then got the short rib pasta. Booth were great and perfect size. Not the over the top size you get at some of the other restaurants. To top it off they do not give you a hard time for splitting the meal with your wife. Love this place. Do yourself a favor and on a nice weather night get here early and get a seat on the roof. You will be happy you did. read more

Took my wife here for Valentine's Day. Service was tremendous even on an extremely busy evening. Lighting was great, and set a mood for a very romantic evening. What a great experience! My family stopped by unexpectedly on a Sunday night on the way home from a trip. We were in a hurry and let the staff know that and also that it was our first time dining there. They could not have been more nice or accommodating! We were in and out in no time, but I won't forget to mention how fantastic the food was. We ordered pasta dishes and are still talking about how delicious the sauce was and the meatballs were spectacular. We plan to head back soon when we have more time to relax and explore the menu. We went last weekend once we learned that this was a family owned restaurant that is a spin off of a restaurant we loved when we lived in Arlington Heights. And we were so glad we tried it! The menu is northern Italian and several fish and seafood dishes that all sounded great. The atmosphere is very warm, with exposed brick, so somewhat Tuscany like. I split the mediterranean bass with a girlfriend (the server even split our salad for us w/o us requesting it). There was still plenty of pasta and fish for the 2 of us, easily. Our side pasta was excellent, it had capers, black olives and mushrooms in it. It wasn't a measly side with just marinara sauce like most places serve. Also, we had calamari and brushetta appetizers, both very flavorful. Our husbands both loved their dinners. We all plan on going back sometime. My only complaint was that the table bread was a little to hard...but since I add oil to it anyways, it really didnt matter. Service was very friendly, accurate and prompt. This place is set upstairs overlooking the street; the entrance is a bit hard to see. You have to walk up a long flight of stairs; though they do have an elevator. The checkin desk is on the worst possible spot: the highest traffic area of the whole place. As we have our names and waited for our menus, which took all of about a minute, I think we pranced around out of someone or a waiters way about 5 times. I have vertigo and kept thinking about the stairs which are t very far behind. The service was okay; it seemed there was a lack of communication between the waiter and food prep. We ordered one thing, were told it wasn't available but it ended up being brought to us by another person. The food was spectacular and our coffee drinks actually felt Italian! Which is a rare thing! Best Italian I have had in the area....homemade gnocchi is amazing...the ragu....just wow! Great service, we had a dish we didn't like and they immediately took it back and asked if we wanted something else and took it off the bill AND gave us free dessert for the table! Went with 4 women and we shared ---- meatballs, some type of veal in a cream sauce that was delicious....stuffed eggplant I totally recommend. Atmosphere is nice, not too loud which I love so you can hear conversation. I heard they have a rooftop and entertainment in the summer. We already made plans to return next month! Oh and its family owned ....our waitress was the daughter of the woman who makes the ragu and gnocchi by hand in the kitchen...love that!! read more

I love this place. I've been here twice and never was disappointed. First thing: they do take reservations. I made one online for four when I first ate there. They do not, however take reservations on the rooftop. First come first serves for that area. Second: The food is amazing. Specials are always different and didn't have a thing that was bad. Food sizes/portions are more than enough and we did take home leftovers. Lastly service was never lacking. We were always attended to without issue and even were given a quick little story about the owners and the families involvement in the restaurant. Wonderful and will go back! read more

I attended a rehearsal dinner at Il Sogno last week and could not have been more impressed with the food and service. Our meal started out with cocktails in the bar and the servers could not have been more attentive, no one's glass was ever empty! For our meal we started out with red pepper crostini and the calamari, both were delicious. I was a huge fan of the seasoning on the grilled calamari - it was so great I did not even try the fried! For our next course I had the berry salad which was also outstanding. The real highlight of the meal was the third course the rigatoni in vodka sauce. It was so yummy, they have an awesome vodka sauce at Il Sogno. For our meal we were given a few choices and I went with the stake vesuvio. It was a great choice and I know everyone else loved their entrees as well. I'd definitely recommend Il Sogno for a quality, Italian meal in the suburbs. read more

I would NEVER have found this place were it not for a Wheaton-savvy friend who wanted to enjoy a glass of wine on a Tuesday night, but I am SO glad I did! It's an upstairs location tucked away in downtown Wheaton, and an hour and a half before closing on a Tuesday, we were the only group in the place. The waiter and bartender ended up still giving us top notch attention which I thought was pure class - they coulda slacked off and stood around, but they were total professionals. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and then decided to eat - my friend ordered the fried calamari and I had the gnocchi al forno which was a decadent blend of gnocchi, Italian sausage, olive oil, and cheese. I loved it EXCEPT for the enormous chunks of not quite roasted garlic throughout the dish, eek. Even having to pick those out, the meal was SO delicious and comforting that I would still order it again! The place is cute and dark and would probably make for a romantic date spot, which we may just have to hit up again soon. read more

Great atmosphere. Food just OK in light of the high price. Mostly disappointed with how the server rushed our experience. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Appetizers came before the drinks. Main course with wine quickly followed even though we were promised they would be spaced out. No offer of additional drinks or dessert. Just a bill. They had us in and out of there in 55 minutes. We returned to Il Sogno for a mid-week dinner. The food was good but nothing outstanding. I had veal Sogno and my wife had the chicken vesuvio. Both OK. There were only three other tables when we were there so we didn't experience any of the service problems some other Yelpers mentioned. The only glitch was when the hostess brought us the wrong entrees. Our server, Kenny, arrived moments later with the correct dishes. We don't usually order seafood so the two, seafood, specials of the day didn't interest us. read more

I've always liked this place, however, I was extremely disappointed with our service tonight. The servers and busser's were in such a rush to get people in and out, they were taking our appetizer plates away, before we finished. Then taking our dinner plates and drinks away before we finished. After we finished dinner my friend and I were catching up for maybe 15 minutes after we finished eating, the server literally came up and asked us to leave because there were many people downstairs waiting for a table. I've never been asked to leave a restaurant before. So rude. I live in downtown Wheaton, but I certainly will not return here, due to the incredibly poor service tonight, not just by one person, but quite a few. read more

My husband and I go to Il Sogno quite often because the food is so good. Italian pasta homemade by mama from Italy. Outstanding service especially Rosie, great wine selections, all appetizers excellent, specials made by chef, all veal dishes excellent, pork tenderloin to die for, seafood excellent, and of course all pasta dishes excellent. Sogno is still my favorite spot in Wheaton. Service always great, food tasty and bar service and selection is the best in Wheaton by far.

For the life of me, I cannot understand some of the low ratings for this fine eatery. I saw one person complained that the house salad was lettuce, red onion, and balsamic vinegar. Not exactly correct but close enough, and it is only $3 so what is the gripe? What do you want for $3? Yesterday was our second visit and we were, once again, very pleased with the experience. My wife had agnolotti funghi, which was veal stuffed pasta with wild mushroom, sausage, truffle oil, and garlic. Very rich and tasty, though earthy flavor. I had the risotto special which was with peas, a beautifully cooked [medium] piece of Scottish salmon on a bed of spinach. Again, excellent. We too had the house salad, as all the others on the menu seemed large for our level of hunger, but of note is that each is available as a half or a dinner portion. Yeah! Drinks were good; love that they have Italian beer, which, if you have not tried, is very special to my taste. I personally favor Birra Moretti. Service was good, although just a little slow as we were wanting the check. Room is quite inviting and all the staff is friendly and efficient. Of note is the excellent bread served with the salad. Tastes fresh baked and slightly toasted, brought to the table warm. We will be back when the muse hits us to do Italian. Is not exactly cheap, but feel prices are fair for quality AND quantity. read more

I certainly understand the challenges in operating a restaurant during these challenging times, although we have been at this for a number of months now. A daily printed menu allows you to change your prices as you see fit. WOW- have IL Sogno's prices gone through the roof- or maybe it was because we sat on the rooftop that they charges higher prices. We have always been happy with the food, and willing to pay a few extra dollars but they were surprisingly high- $54 for an 8 oz filet-crazy. Ordered a whiskey drink and they did not have a number of the brands- bartender was very helpful but kept saying he is in the process of ordering that. In that business, you can get your booze in a week from your distributor. Lastly, I asked for olive oil with the bread- 15 minutes later they brought out garlic and oil which was on the bill. Not what I asked for and surprised they did that. We got to the point, just pay the bill and go. I certainly hope they improve on all of this as we are getting some good restaurants in Wheaton and certainly have choices. read more

Really good food, I loved it, went with some of the specials, basically trusted the waitress on what to bring out for apps and dinner, was kind of fun. So - (other than being really cute!) she brought out one of the special pizzas and for dinner we had some of the sweet potato gnocchi with a braised pork belly - WOW!! Even the bread is incredible!! My first experience was by accident as we intended on going to Muldoons only to find that they were closed for a thier holiday party. We looked across the street and we saw this restaurant upstairs and decided to try it. Immediately upon entering we were greeted and seated by Sylvia (one of the owners) We weren't quite sure what we wanted so we took some of her suggestions and we have been hooked ever since. Delicious and great service!! Had the Scampi Luciana, and my husband had the Spaghetti Misto. Both dishes were amazing. Needed a quick take out meal that was not junk. The full menu and prices were right on their website, which made ordering very easy. The person who took my order was efficient and had my order in in less than 3 minutes with a 15 minute ETA. I was only a few minutes away and had a short wait. They made me comfy at the bar. Food came out on time and was still steaming when j got home. I can't wait to return to dine in! read more

This is a hidden jewel in Wheaton! I spoke with Rose to schedule a group outing and she returned my phone call and was easy to work with. When I called to order food for our group, Rose was not available;however the person I spoke with was friendly and efficient. When I arrived for the appetizer/drink membership evening, the staff was receptive and friendly. We had a lot fewer people at the event, so the staff helped with adjusting the pre-order apps without too much difficulty. The service was friendly, food was delicious, and price reasonable. We plan to use them in the future and I will be dining there with my family in the near future. Great food and staff that is interested in making your dining event a success. read more

We had a reservation for dining at rooftop. We arrived & hostesses said we'd be seated in 10 mins. When I told them our original reservation of 4ppl changed to 2, they called upstairs & said we would now have to wait an addt'l 30 mins. They knew my spouse was on crutches. They told me that there was an elevator to the 2nd floor but only a service elevator to the roof top (eluding they wouldn't let him use it). We dine out most weekends in Wheaton (Gia Mia, Burger Social, Moveable Feast, etc). We have never been so poorly treated by any restaurant employees until this evening. We witnessed the hostesses stop customers abruptly from even entering the restaurant. They seemed completely inexperienced & rude. Certainly, not accommodating to people with physical limitations (and lack of empathy). We only went for the roof top experience. I can't recommend this restaurant. I recommend dining at the roof top at Burger Social or any of the other wonderful neighboring restaurants that offer outdoor dining with excellent staff. We ended up dining at Moveable Feast that evening with outstanding service, food & cocktails! read more

Great to be on roof top restaurant. It was a beautiful day to be up above downtown Wheaton. Decided to try the Italian place to enjoy the upstairs. I had the tortellini with cream sauce which was tasty but very rich and a bit heavy. The appetizer calamari grilled was very good with a nice char on the pieces. The salad was crispy and came with a decent amount of vegetables. The service was efficient and friendly. read more

This restaurant does not give free refills on iced tea. Given that the total cost of my meal was $23 (not including tip) I find it incredibly cheap of the management not to offer free refills. Also, as my husband observed, the glass was filled with ice, so there probably wasn't more than 6 oz. of tea in the $3.00 glass of iced tea to begin with (which is more than most places charge for an iced tea, and those places provide free refills). My husband's theory is that they want you to order alcoholic drinks, so we're being punished. I don't know, but I won't be back. read more

We were craving for some home made pasta on a lazy Sunday evening and decided to try this restaurant. On the surface, this looks like an excellent restaurant and to be fair we had pretty high expectations. However, these expectations did not meet the reality check after we dined here: this place is pretty average in terms of both food and service. Caesar salad was as plain as they serve it at Olive Garden. The pasta looks good on the menu, but unfortunately the flavors were extremely overkilled by the amount of sauce used in the dishes (we tried fungi orechette and lobster pasta) and both of these dishes were extremely heavy. Service was average and slow, it took several requests to get a glass of wine and waiters were somewhat spaced out. Overall, the place is ok, but for the price it is not worth it. read more
