I have been here several times, everytime I have found hair. Straight hair in the food. Sitting in the sauce, the rice, the chicken. It has happened many times, making it not a coincidence. This is unacceptable. I ask the young man about the hair and he replies, the chef are bald, does this make my hair in the food okay now??? How does that make sense. I even see a man with a full head of hair enter the kitchen, no hair net. The other young man was very quiet and barely greeted us or even looked at us. My wife and I have lived in the Nashua / Hudson area for a few years now and have driven by SoHo many times, but yesterday stopped in the first time for dinner. We were quickly seated and had a friendly waiter. Although the menu is not particularly descriptive, what they had under the house specialities described as the seafood flower basket sounded great and it was definitely the star of the dinner. Super yummy and generous portions of shrimp, lobster and the like. Wife ordered sushi and let me try it too and definitely felt high quality sushi rice, fresh fish, and good cream cheese in the Philly too. read more

The service was excellent, the waiter was extremely polite and attentive. The ambiance was tired, but very clean. We've been searching for a good Chinese food restaurant locally. Unfortunately, this one wasn't what we had hoped for. We ordered luncheon specials, and from the main menu, an a la carte boneless spare ribs. The luncheon specials came with (2) wings and a choice of white, brown, or pork fried rice with a choice of egg drop or sweet and sour soup. The egg drop soup was just OK. The meal came, and the 2 wings promised showed up as 1 tiny half wing and 1 tiny half drumstick. We both ordered the pork fried rice and there were very scant, tiny pieces of pork hardly visible. The rice is supposed to be a nice dark brown but it came through with a light tinge of brown, and even with the onion in it, it was flavorless. For the sides, my husband got the twice cooked pork, which was a first. The pork was tough like rubber. One would think that if it's sauteed in a sauce with cabbage it would have been nice and tender, but no dice. I ordered my usual chicken chow mein and this too, was bland and very disappointing. The boneless spare ribs were tasty, but there was a lot of fat in the strips that I had to remove. Usually good kitchen help (if the ribs aren't lean), will cut the fat out for you before serving it. We have been to Soho a couple of times before, and although the food was satisfactory (not great), the server, who appeared to be the manager, was dismissive and inattentive to our needs. Tonight, the service was okay, but a young man who lacked sufficient training was left alone to serve us in an otherwise empty restaurant. He was extremely polite, but he was inexperienced. We asked for tea, but the tea cups were not clean. We asked for replacements and got new cups, but they were literally ice-cold, immediately making the tea cold when we poured it. We ordered a shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer, which was served without dipping sauce. We had to ask for it. The broccoli in the tempura was burned to a crisp. Even the dipping sauce couldn't cover its charcoal taste. We both ordered mushu meals, and both came without plum sauce, which is standard with mushu dishes. We asked the young man for plum sauce. He looked confused but went to ask the chef. He came back, saying that the chef had told him the plum sauce was already mixed in. Plum sauce has a strong, sweet flavor, and there was certainly none in our mediocre dishes. The young man then asked the manager, who said that mushu dishes should indeed be served with plum sauce, so we finally got some--no thanks to the chef who had apparently lied to the young server. The young man who waited on us bears no blame, but the cook does. He should have served the food as it was meant to be served, and not lied to to the waiter to cover his oversights. Tonight was enough for us. We will NEVER go back to Soho. read more

Disappointing. Been driving in front of this restaurant for many years. Last night we finally decided to give them a try.... We should have kept driving... Service was Ok, food was worse. It's another one of those sushi places where they mix the fish with tempura... Kinda like the coke dealers cut their product with laxative... Super rude management. Mei Ling is horrible in particular and unreasonable. We used to frequent the place for many years until our run-in with her. The food has gone downhill, the environment was beautiful and we took pride in having friends and family go there with us. The food quality went downhill, the waiters stopped caring about their jobs and very disinterested in interacting with us and others being served. Especially after Mei Ling fighting with us for two solid hours about a coupon she claims she never authorized, and receiving cold food one day, we have stopped going and have told everyone to avoid it. read more

A great place to get a Mai Tai and they are delicious and tastes on par. Can't say enough about the Mai Tai's!! Unfortunately not one of our go to places for Sushi but the Chinese food is good. More of a town crowd type atmosphere. Regulars like this restaurant and keep it busy. We had the General Gao's Chicken and Tangerine Beef. The sauces where very good with those dishes. This review is based on a recent lunch visit. SoHo recently opened up inside the former Charman's Restaurant. SoHo serves up mostly Chinese cuisine and some limited Japanese fare (tempura, sushi, maki, miso soup, salad). The Chef Specialties are offered here including Peking Duck, Three Musketeers, and Seafood Flower Basket, which are served on large platters. 30 Chinese Lunch Specials ($6.25-$8.95) and 6 Japanese Lunch Specials ($8.95-$11.95) are offered on Mondays-Saturdays (11:30-3:00). Exotic drinks such as mai tais and scorpion bowls are offered from the lounge. Check out the menu at http://www.sohocuisine.com The management did a fine job renovating and updating the place. The atmosphere looks very nice with orangey/brown walls, nice decor, and silver beads. The cocktail lounge in back has seating and a TV. The front dining room is carpeted and has new booth seating & shiny hardwood table seating. I stopped in here for lunch recently and ordered some Green Tea ($1.50-no free Chinese Tea here) and the Lunch Buffet ($8.95), which is served everyday (except holidays). The Lunch Buffet is not big and includes choice of soup and offers 10 hot items (vegetable rice noodles, pork fried rice (short grain), General Gau's chicken (white & dark meat), chicken & zucchini, chicken chow mein, beef & carrots, crab rangoon, fried seafood balls, chicken wings, & boneless BBQ spare ribs), California roll, and vegetable sushi. I chose Hot & Sour Soup, which had the right amount of spice and tasted very good. All of the hot food at the buffet was fresh, especially during the lunch rush. I especially enjoyed the fried seafood balls and rice noodles. The rest of the food including the sushi were okay, good enough to fill up. The service here was very attentive with the staff checking up on me and asking how the meal was and refilling the ice water glass when needed. The meal was good (3.3 stars). read more

Overpriced and over-rated. The fact that SoHo has a three star rating is generous. We decided to give this local option a try and wish we spent our money on elsewhere. I was alarmed at the price of the scallion pancakes $8.95... seriously? I am more they happy to support local establishments, especially at times like this and understand certain things have gone up do to supply/demand but they have to be realistic with prices. There is no reason scallion pancakes should be priced at that point this isn't NYC! The chicken fried rice was bland, the fried dumplings were soggy ... I really was looking forward to the garlic chicken to be a star. The sauce was oddly too sweet and lacked the savory component we hoped for. Ugh. Such a disappointment. read more

I took a chance and booked the SoHo for an anniversary party with 32 guests. I had never been there before but I was impressed by many of the reviews and when I went in to explore I immediately liked the owner who clearly wanted our party to go well. We sat in the dining room, two long tables of 16 which provided a nice intimate setting. Since our party was 1:00 on a Saturday the restaurant wasn't busy and other customers were seated away from our group. People had really nice things to say about the food which was hot and delicious. Everybody seemed to have a favorite item(s). The service was exceptional. Soda glasses were refilled quickly, dishes were cleared quickly and May, the owner, checked in with me periodically to see if everything was ok. I recommend the SoHo highly for lunch, dinner or even your function. read more

Since this restaurant opened my wife and I have visited literally dozens of times. It has been our favorite go to place for Chinese food, bar none. We ordered take out last week and were extremely surprised when we got home and realized that our whole meal was absolutely terrible! We spent about $56.00 but that will be the last time. We ordered hot and sour soup to start but although loaded with great ingredients was niether hot or sour, practically tasteless, We followed with appetizers of crab Rangoon and egg rolls. Do you buy them premade now? They weren't what I've come to expect at all. We had the beef with mushrooms and the general tso's chicken for our entrees and both of them were disappointing at best. The beef dish had a plain beef gravy with very little flavor, no soy, ginger or anything. The General Tso's had very little sauce, no heat, not even a single hot pepper and was a very small portion. I was totally disappointed with the entire meal! We have actually been to Sohos more then 50 times over the years. What happened ??? read more

OK, so I went back to try out their all-you-can-eat lunch. They run this seven days a week except holidays, and you can order as many plates as you like. You choose from hot and sour soup/egg drop soup; white, brown, or fried rice; three appetizers; and then two entrees. I got egg drop soup, fried rice, gyoza, spring roll, crab rangoon, beef and broccoli, and egg foo yung. Service was much better this time, everybody was very polite. My first visit here was for lunch. I got the lunch special chicken with ginger and string beans. For $6.95, it also came with soup (hot and sour was delicious), rice, and chicken wings (whole thing, so the equivalent of two chicken wing parts). For essentially the same price as a sandwich at Panera, you can get a full lunch here with tons of yummy food. Veggie tempura was also good, as were the scallion pancakes - which were a little thicker/more breadlike than other restaurants, but also non-greasy. Service was fast, attentive, and the owners are super friendly (they used to own August Moon bakery in Milford, which was one of my favorite spots). Having some food allergies I had a few questions about the menu and the girl I spoke with at the counter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. If it wasn't for her I'd give this place 1 star. I ordered a pad-thai and the beef with ginger and scallion. The pad-thai wasn't bad but the beef with ginger and scallion was insulting. What I got was a take out container that contained 95% stir fried onions (see picture). There were a few small pieces of beef and scallions in there but defiantly not worth the $10.25 I was charged.
