I recently moved to Arlington, VA from Maryland and for months I've looked everywhere for a hair…read morestylist. For context the stylist I've been to for years is based in Baltimore and with how traffic can get I can't justify spending 40% of my saturday going to Baltimore to get my hair done. So I began the search looking for a new hairstyle salon. Tried Alexandria, Springfield, even Fairfax. But none have provided what I need and certainly not justifiable of the price it commanded. So I tried HairSocial because I found it on Google and I liked I can book online. My hair appointment consists of the following: Wash, Blow Dry, and an undercut. Sometimes I'll get it flat-ironed depending on the occasion. So I booked 4 days in advance and when I arrived for my appointment I had to wait 20 mins after my actual time (for context it was a Sunday afternoon and no one else was in the shop except for one customer). When I was seated I was only given a haircut and nothing else despite asking for a hair wash and a blowout. Considering I had to put a downpayment online to book the appointment I naturally felt bamboozled. They offered to do what I originally asked but they said I had to wait an hour. I didn't have time as I had a family dinner I had to attend so I decided to go home and wash my own hair. Before I left, the front desk offered to refund me on my card and then said no and could only offer me a credit. The credit was tied to my account yet the credit isn't available when you book online you can only access the credit if you call to set up an appointment. Extremely disappointed but the stylist did a great job with my haircut. I'm just disappointed that I didn't get what I paid for at a reasonable time. Thankfully the management of the loc in Tysons Corner set things right and as a result despite this location being closer to me I go out of my way to visit the HairSocial in Tyson's Corner (that review will be coming shortly).

I only ever do simple cuts, nothing fancy. My haircut, done by Anderson (a level 3 stylist), is objectively good. The skill was there. But it's definitely shorter than I wanted it. Went in for a lob, came out with an asymmetrical bob...Honestly I was panicking while he was drying it because it was starting to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I asked if he could style it like in the reference pictures I showed (simple waves, to reduce Farquaad-ness). He tried to do it with the brush/dryer, which obviously wasn't working, and didn't want to use a flatiron. So I just suffered through scalding heat on my scalp and hair pulling. I got told I don't have curly hair. I got told I don't have frizzy hair. I, in fact, have both of those. Some other minor things: 1. When I got home I had some hair that was noticeably longer than the rest, like it never got cut. So...I had to do it. Just a few strands, but normally stylists check for that when your hair is dry. 2. I almost never use heat on my hair, so I asked for recs and mentioned a specific brand doesn't work for me. He immediately said he loves that brand. I said yeah...but it doesn't work for me. Anything else? "Any salon brand." Cool. Not helpful. 3. Asked for something at the end to tame the pieces that were sticking out (again, I have frizzy hair). He looked...confused? Smoothing as a last step has been standard at every other place I've been to. There is nothing in the whole salon like that? Also, my introvert-self just wants to go somewhere where I don't have to be engaged in conversation the whole time. Anyway. Won't go back, my hunt continues.

From the moment I met Mequeda, she made me feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely cared for. Her customer service is absolutely amazing. She immediately knew which human hair topper would work best for me and custom-colored and blended the roots perfectly to match my natural hair. She has an amazing eye for color! When I picked it up a week later, I was honestly amazed - it was an exact match and blended so seamlessly that no one can tell I'm wearing a topper. The entire process was professional, timely, and exactly as promised. I do want to mention that this is not an inexpensive, mail-order or mall store wig experience, and there are certainly more affordable options out there but not of the same quality. In my personal opinion, with wigs and toppers, you truly get what you pay for. The quality, customization, expertise, and confidence this gave me were absolutely worth it. I even brought in a topper purchased online (which I loved!) and Mequeda offered to wash it and adjust the color. The end result is also perfect perfection. Mequeda's talent, honesty, and kindness made what could have been a very emotional and uncomfortable experience feel easy. I truly cannot recommend Bravadas and Mequeda enough. I foresee a long-term relationship with Bravadas!

We're coming in on year 7 since I've started doing balayage on my hair. It's been a journey finding…read morethe right place and the right stylist, especially after moving around so much... but I think it's safe to say after getting treatments in the northeast, in the DMV, and in Asia, I've finally found my place (yay!!!!!) I truly wish I had found this salon when I first moved. I scheduled an appointment with Ellie, and I just had a feeling she knew exactly what to do with my hair with my little guidance: partial, even out tone, and have a balayage that complements my skin tone. She did just that. And in record breaking time of 2.5 hours? I'm usually at the salon for 3+ hours. I'm hypersensitive to smells, so it was really kind that they were able to provide me a mask. They also offered beverages, and I opted for green tea! Lastly one of the coolest things is when they're washing your hair they have a seat recliner so that your legs are relaxed ! I've only seen this in Asia so that was really awesome to have! They had a special for 15% off during the month of October so I was really lucky to receive a good price as well. I highly recommend Salon Virage and Ellie for balayage! They really do it right over here!

I called the salon and the manager Sebastian was very apologetic and quick to help. Fadi then called me back and offered to correct the service for free if she wanted to give them another shot. Needless to say Fadi and his team went above and beyond to ensure she got exactly what she wanted the first time. It's a night and day difference. He was so kind and the smile on her face after he finished cutting and coloring her hair was worth it. I'm confident she will return to see Fadi. Maybe we chalk the bad first experience up to an off day or a miscommunication with the first stylist? Either way, hats off to Fadi and Sebastian for their service. Btw, the salon is very nice inside and I overheard many other happy customers.
