It's a lovely property in a great location at the heart of the action on Congress Ave (a few blocks from downtown). The club is beautifully decorated, and the restaurant/bar serves good food and drink. We stayed in a nice hotel room, but were quite surprised to discover that we had no hot water. After many attempts to fix it, and move us to another room that also did not have hot water, and offer us a third room, we decided to stay in the original room. We wasted a lot of time packing/unpacking, moving between rooms. Eventually one staffer admitted the property had poor hot water circulation in some areas and that the "property was not built as a hotel". The maddening part of all this is the reluctance of the management to admit to what is a known issue, and to offer us a free breakfast as compensation for a $1000 stay. The staff are highly trained to be polite, engaging and outwardly helpful, but are totally unequipped to deal with a real problem that is not easily fixed or papered over. read more

Coming here requires a change in perspective. It is a wonderful space to work during the day or hold an in-person meeting. Think of it as a calm, upscale sitting lounge with lots of natural light (but still a moodiness, owing to the dark furnishings), that also happens to have food and drinks available. You may not be promptly served menus like in a restaurant; they aren't going to rush you out to turn your table after 45 minutes either. Come to sit and chat or work, and appreciate the fact that you don't have to dash out to get a bite to eat when you get too hungry. The guac is great. The protein in the smoothies is not sufficiently blended. read more

It's tucked away in the Music Lane strip center on South Congress and intentionally unmarked next to Aba. Accessible via membership ($5,850/year for access on all houses) or invited by a member, Soho House hosts special events, offers creative spaces, has a boutique hotel with a pool, and also a restaurant. With a membership, you have access to all Soho House locations worldwide. The Austin location is tastefully designed with Texan and Spanish influences, mixed with modern and vintage touches. I visited for an event and tried ordering food/drinks, but the service was absent, which is unacceptable for the price tag you're paying. read more

A creative's dream and a beautiful space for the city of Austin. I think many folks who aren't familiar with Soho House or come from different houses might not realize this is more of a collective/satellite and not a flagship as one would expect in New York or Mexico City. When you lose that expectation and walk in with an open mind, you'll be welcomed by a staff that is truly some of the friendliest and does everything in their power to make you feel at home. From member hosted events to their rooftop pool with cabanas, there are so many little touches of interior decorating and it really makes me smile. The hotels are setup beautifully with a spacious shower, amenities, and a super comfy bed. My favorite touch is the tapestry cover for the tv which doubles as decor. They've recently updated their parking policy so make sure to inquire how you can get super low pricing for parking. This might be a bit quirky but the bathrooms here are gorg. Honestly terrible experience. We came with a member and this was some of the worst service I've received at any establishment. The food was good which adds a star but in general I would not recommend watering here. Literally no one eating brunch and it took forever to get service. When we did, food took a century. After UT game day on Saturday a friend who has a membership invited us to check out the bar/restaurant. I've been to Soho House a few times now with friends and have had a nice time at the pool, bar, etc. We enjoyed some cocktails, snacks, and conversation. The food is good but overpriced, imo, and parking is really expensive if you don't luck out and get street parking. We had to flag down waitstaff a few times to order or remind them to bring items they said they would bring. They also didn't make it clear when they asked if we wanted crudite (veggies) with our guac that it costs extra for that and chips. They only have one bathroom at the bar level so often it's occupied or you have to go down a floor to use it. read more

Their mocktails are equally great and the guacamole and the truffle fries are perfect for a pool day. The cabanas are first come, first serve but there's usually availability. Ok this was a complete mess. The four of us stopped by for Sunday brunch and off the bat the vibes were bad. it was at 10% capacity with no music on the patio, like a library. We order coffees and the server comes back with one of the orders wrong. THEN Brad had a hair in his iced latte. He pointed it out and they made a new one. When giving our food orders we got to like the second person when the server said "sorry I need to get a note pad I'm not usually a server". ..... girl we know, you got the coffee order wrong. Also why did it take you so long to realize you need a note pad. Then our friend spilled his coffee on himself. We (the patrons) cleaned it all up. When he came back from the bathroom after drying off he NEEDED fries. So he ordered some and they didn't come out ever, we waited like 30 minutes. He ordered them again from another server. No fries. So he got up with his coffee shorts and spoke to the manager. The service here is terrible. I usually go to DUMBO house which has great service. I waited about 15 minutes to be seated before finally flagging someone down (multiple employees passed me and no one said a thing). Once I finally ordered I waited 25 minutes for my drink, which came out with my meal. My app was completely forgotten. Main meal was pretty good - cauliflower tacos - but was missing avocado and cilantro. Tuna tostada was ok - it was different than how DUMBO house makes it (which is much better) - had thin slices of tuna (not cubes) and no cilantro. I got the migas tacos, which was not very good. The tortillas were dry and hard. The meat was dry and hard. There was a generous amount of avocado which was good. The tacos lacked flavor. I would give these tacos 2/5 stars. I tried my friend's pancakes, which were amazing! Super fluffy with crispy edges. While this is a private, members-only club, as i understand it, they have "Friends of Soho House" memberships that you can get and you can rent a room for the night (at any Soho House) & have access to all the amenities during your stay. (Soho House has locations all around the world.) There is a pool with cabanas that you can book! Our first visit has been great! Attentive staff, gorgeous (NEW) decor. Very comfortable. Lots of seating options in the bar area (tables, couches, family style tables, more intimate 2-tops and, of course, stools at the bar). Our waiter, Jeremy, was AMAZING! Very friendly, with lots of helpful tips on the menu & he brought me more of a sauce I LOVED (it was on the shishito peppers). They have RECENTLY opened & they are still under construction in several areas (theater & rooms). I was invited as a guest of a member and have visited twice. I have enjoyed my time here both times. No specific brunch menu has been presented to us either time which is a little disappointing as I've seen posts with tacos and waffles but those aren't on the menu. I felt the food was overpriced in general but probably on par for downtown Austin. I enjoyed my chopped salad and we've ordered a poolside BBQ pizza which was excellent as well. The picante de la casa and the Calle ocho were my fave drinks. The pool gets packed with people by 2, yet it's nice and cool in this 100 degree heat. There are about 30 cabana spots, so it's luck of timing if you get one. Service is slow in general as others have mentioned but everyone was nice. I will definitely continue to return. read more

Home away from home. I love coming here to take meetings, get work done, hang with friends and then taking a dip in the pool. Everyone here is wonderful. All the servers and bartenders are fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. Also the events here are so unique, thoughtful and really support and highlight local artists. My friends and I came to Soho House for a DJ set on July 4th on the rooftop pool. As first time visitors we liked the picture worthy pool and cabanas. After saying our hellos to our friends we found a nice cabana spot with a nice city view by the speakers. Getting a drink at their outdoor bar was another story, there was normally a long wait even if it was only a handful of people at the bar. The cocktail menu is good, but nothing that great. I think the drinks were a little pricy for a pretty average cocktail. Overall we all enjoyed ourselves a lot. I think the DJ LzrCat played good music as many people were dancing. The staff was real friendly and seemed to be enjoying the event just as much as everybody else and kept the space pretty clean through out the night. read more

There are so many paths or possibilities for such a big festival, including being poolside. If you happen to know when you're visiting this location, bring your bathing suit even if you think you're just going to lunch. It could evolve exponentially! A casual lunch can end up poolside where you can take a dip or even cool off without getting in! Enjoy the light mists that are strung along the space like outdoor lights, cooling you off as you walk by or while you're laid out in conversation with the people who invited you to join their cabana! Heard of SoHo house from a couple of friends. So I decided to check it out. Upon arrival I was very impressed. I thought the style and decor was nice. I proceeded to go to the bar, I wasn't impressed by the service. It's almost as I was a ghost. Now I am brown skinned so I could kind of see where the vibe was going here. 20-30 minutes pass no drink no food no hello no nothing. Just nice lamps and plants. I'd stay away from here if you're looking for good service. You probably must be a regular or have to know someone; this place kind of feels like a cult. Let me start by saying that I am NOT a fan of Soho House - Austin. I've been to two locations in NYC and they were fine ... probably not worth the hype but still, they were fine. The service at the Austin location is abominable. I stood at the bar with my brother and watched as two bartenders were socializing with each other while I stared at a drink that had been spilled on the bar and was dripping onto the floor. Neither of the two bartenders took a moment to either clean up the spilled drink (which was clearly in their field of vision) or tend to our desire to order a drink. That was my second time at Soho House - Austin and my first visit was also nothing to write home about. The facility is impressive but the food and cocktails are mediocre, the crowd is mind-numbingly boring, and it's truly not worth the hoops through which you have to jump to get in the door. Even as a member, the admission staff is inattentive and possibly even a bit lost. But this review is less about Soho House and more about their newer "listening bar" called Dante's HiFi. It operated as a members-only bar for about six months before opening to the public. I suppose their restrictions were too limiting to generate reasonable revenue. Last night -- just under four weeks since opening to the public -- was my first visit. I'll admit that the staff is much friendlier and engaging than upstairs at Soho House but there's still a lot left to be desired. They have a delicious cocktail on the menu called the Picante. But we couldn't even get our hands on a menu until later in the evening. Our first round consisted of a very fancy mezcal cocktail for me and a comparably very simple vodka and soda for my friend. I'm not typically one to complain about the cost of a well-crafted cocktail but I'm a bit perplexed by the cost of the Tito's vodka and soda. It was $20. That's fine, I suppose but contextually, my fancy cocktail was only one dollar more than the Tito's. In fact, the Tito's was at least two dollars more expensive than any of the specialty cocktails on their menu. Very strange if you ask me. The venue boasts a high-end audio system with vintage speakers and loads of vinyl. It was pretty cool to watch the DJ spin actual vinyl as opposed to the digital equipment typically used by the kids these days. Perhaps my amateur ear can't quite appreciate the nuances of their audio equipment but to me, it just seemed ... loud. All in all, I think you can skip Dante's HiFi. Go to Howard's Bar instead. It's an almost-identical concept but it's much more well-executed. read more

I was approved for a Soho Friends membership after waiting a year (this isn't really a problem as I expected no different), but they don't make ANYONE aware that you can't use ANY of the amenities without booking a room. I was told by front desk that this is a private location, unlike to others across the world. NOWHERE on the website, acceptance email, or anywhere else does it inform you of this. Other locations allow you to use a handful of useful amenities without booking a room, but since this one is private, apparently it's different. Receptionist said "yes, a lot of people are confused." Maybe change that, SH??? Put a disclaimer in the acceptance email and give people a chance to back out? Hopefully customer service gets back to me about a cancellation before they charge my card. One last thing - two out of three times I've been there, the door has cut my hand bloody on the way out. I should have taken that as a sign. read more
