Horrible!!! Sorry, but Jalea doesn't consist of 90% of calamari frozen rings. No shrimp at all and greasy ass white fish. Take it off the menu and while you're at it take the chicken and Sangria off too. Just nasty. Don't waste your money here. Walk, no, run away fast. I want to know if the people who reviewed this place 4 stars or better, have actual taste buds??? Smfh

This is a new Peruvian spot in Union City, good atmosphere, good music, the rotisserie chicken is good, not overcooked or dry, just right, now their beans were also good, never had beans like theirs anywhere before, the gravy was nice and thick, not like others that the gravy runs like water, oh and their green hot sauce goes great with the chicken, no too hot or spice, has the right amount of kick to it, I give this place five stars, very satisfying and I'm stuffed.

Found it on yelp and this place is great! Ordered mixesd seafood ceviche, chicken combo with white rice and sweet plantain as a side. Ceviche is the best ! Chicken combo has good flavor to it but don't like texture of chicken (very dry). Sweet plantain is superb too. And as it's world cup time they also have 2 tv which is also a plus for sports lover (and of course the channel is speaking Spanish which I knew nothing about..) Keep in mind there is only street parking (quarter for 30 mins is not bad at all) but it may be slightly hard to find a spot on bergebline ave - you may find something the street north to it. Overall it is a good experience- it was slightly pricer than what I thought (given the $ on yelp) but it is still okay and with food portion is large. Will definetly come back to try out more dishes.

Considering the neighborhood this restaurant is in, you can't compare it with high end restaurants. For those people complain about service, this is a local neighborhood kind of place so please lower your expectations. Comfortable seating, flavorful food, what else can you ask for? Both the fried chicken and fish we order wish cook perfectly so they were nice and juicy. 4 stars simply because I don't give out 5 unless it really blows me away. Yeah, I am a fan.

It's not the best Peruvian in the area and honestly deserves a 3.5/5 but I'm rounding to a 4 for the review. The 4pc Half Chicken Combo is a decent deal for the price point. The chicken is moist, well-seasoned, and pretty tasty. The garden rice isn't authentic as far as I know; every Peruvian spot will offer some form of rice & beans but unfortunately that's not an option here. They also serve this with an orange spicy sauce (aji amarillo) which was spicy, tangy, and a bit smoky. I'm surprised it doesn't come with the classic green sauce most Peruvian chicken places offer. I would also love if the Combo came with 2 half sides. Instead, I ordered Fried Sweet Bananas which were delicious but overly greasy and drenched in oil to the point where it was leaking out of 2 bags. The Beef Lomo Soltado is savory, tangy, and slightly smoky. The beef was pretty tender but the fries were so soggy. I almost wish they serve it separately for delivery so it can maintain some crispiness. The white rice pairs well with this since it soaked up all the delicious flavor from the beef, tomatoes, and onions. Not the best in the area but decent try!

The seasoning was just right, and the crispy skin added the perfect touch. The side of fries and rice complemented the chicken beautifully, making for a well-balanced and satisfying meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, and I can't wait to order again. Only downside is when ordering takeout is there is really no where to park and it is a very tight street. Best option is to parking with your hazards on and have someone run in for you. Highly recommend!

They're known for their incredible Rotisserie Chicken which I can confirm is in fact incredible. It's flavorful, juicy, deliciously roasted, and tender. The chicken skin was crispy and rich in flavor but literally the dark and white parts were equally tasty. Honestly probably some of the best Rotisserie chicken I've ever had. My favorite piece was the thigh, super juicy and delicious. The onions were sweet, crisp, and refreshing - I've never had this with a rotisserie chicken before but it's a game changer. They also serve it with their hot sauce which was both smoky and zesty. The sides I got are a non-negotiable, in my opinion. Both the Pigeon Pea Rice & Moro Rice were well-seasoned, fluffy, and went great with the Rotisserie chicken. The portion is also amazing for the price; it was easily 4 servings! The Maduros were extremely oily but I love the savory-sweet balance you get from them along with the chicken and rice. Super delicious! The Jupiña Pineapple Soda was a good try but could be skipped next time. Note: their menu has cash and credit card prices so you will be paying slightly more per item if you pay with card. All in all, it was an amazing meal that hit the spot and great value! Highly recommend.

Food always comes out hot and consistently on point with portions and taste. I crave their Henny wings and of course those Texas size Margaritas! They surely know how to do drinks correct here! They were running promo for new Kevin Hart liquor and offered us a sample of the margarita mix to ensure it was acceptable flavor for us! That nailed it and we both ordered! I also love their fried fish and shrimp combo. You wouldn't think to get that here but it is a dish I always want and think of here first when I could easily get it locally from a restaurant family that grew up making it lol. They just do it right and with all the extras you can't go wrong. Love the free cake pops at the end! Looking around at the people eating we wait in eager anticipation after seeing the generous portion sizes. Our Buffalo cauliflower (and apps for friends) finally come out after waiting a bit of time. While I thought the cauliflower was just fine, Red found some of them a little tough. We both order the double beef ribs. Red gets baked potato with hers, and I get the fries. Again, both the (very tender) ribs and fries were generous in size, but the fries are cold and mushy. Not sure why I didn't complain then, but others at our table who receive fries get them cold and mushy. That is not all we get. After speaking with Red today, it turns out she vomited last night from the food and says the ribs came up. I had two bouts of the runs and felt off the rest of the night. The bills arrived and they auto add a gratuity to the bill for a party of 5+. My bill was $95.44 with tip included and I gladly handed over a $100 bill for the extra tip, as did everyone else at our table tip extra. I don't mind the mandatory tip as we always go in with the intention of tipping well for good food and service. But we do mind cold food and illness that follows. You milage may vary, but illness is not something we tolerate and give second chances. We won't ever be back.

This location has cute Raising Cane's merchandise. The energy inside is wild, but the real question was: does the food actually live up to the massive hype? I came straight here chasing that legendary crispy, saucy bite--and it did not disappoint. The chicken fingers were piping hot, incredibly tender, and practically standard-issue vessels for that iconic Cane's Sauce. The classic crinkle-cut fries were solid, but the real sleeper hit is always that buttery, pillowy Texas toast. When you assemble the ultimate bite--chicken, sauce, toast, and a fry-- it's devine. It's fast, it's chaotic, and it's a total Times Square experience. If you're looking for a quick, comforting, and undeniably crispy late-night bite in the city, this flagship location delivers exactly what you're craving. At work, the Godfather wanted to order (unusual for him to suggest it; usually I'm the 1 pushing for us to order out, and he's invariably resistant, although ultimately, he's acquiescent, although just as invariably he blames me for "pushing him into it" as he gobbles down whatever food it was we've ordered). I was willing but wanted to try something different than our usual fare (burgers, Chinese, Japanese, sandwiches). Someone else mentioned Exotic Eats, as a younger co-worker had ordered from there recently and seemed to enjoy what he had eaten. I asked, "Does this younger co-worker have a discriminating palate?" (Not actually being quite the jerk I oftentimes seem to be, I did of course use less pretentious, overblown verbiage in asking my question.) The reply was, "He's young; he'll order almost anything and like it." So...it might be great; it might be horrible. So we took a chance. They deliver, and I was intrigued by their on-line menu. I can't remember what the Godfather ordered, or another co-worker who wanted us to include him in what had once been known as the Lunchbox Mafia, but I ordered "the Island Bowl." Sliced jerk chicken breast on a bed of Mac & Cheese with jerk BBQ sauce. Being hungry, I ordered a side of blueberry cornbread, and the dessert of banana pudding cheesecake. All of it washed down with my ever-present bottle of Poland Spring water. We didn't have to wait long for it to be delivered. As I mentioned in my introductory remarks, I found the food fabulous. The jerk chicken in its BBQ sauce had a tangy sting, but it wasn't unpleasant or pain-producing. And I have to say-- the Mac & Cheese was the best I've had since my late mother used to make it for me in childhood. It's a baked "dry" Mac & Cheese as opposed to the overly sauced (and bland) version you get in most restaurants these days (all it was missing was the crumbled crackers that my mother used to put on top of it). Pure deliciousness, as they say. The blueberry cornbread was the perfect accompaniment, and the banana pudding cheesecake was wonderfully smooth, creamy, and decadent. I wasn't feeling bloated to the point of discomfort once I had finished it all, but I definitely felt "well fed." My fellow partakers were equally as enthused. Prices were fair, portions were immeasurably more than adequate, and the meal was luxuriously satisfying on every single level. As mentioned, delivery didn't take long at all, and it arrived hot. I'm not entirely sure how to classify the cuisine. The website described it as "Soul Food" with a "Caribbean Spirit." A long-time friend of mine is Jamaican, and she used to throw a big feast for friends and family every summer (I was usually the only white person invited, which was never any sort of a problem, although once a little kid of 4 or 5 looked at me with hostility and said, "What are YOU doing here?"), before health issues sidelined that annual event. She was a great cook, and everything was fresh-- jerk chicken, fish, ackee that always reminded me of scrambled eggs, breadfruit, sorrel liquor, etc. Despite the quality of the food served, I never really acquired a taste for Jamaican cuisine (I ventured out once to a Jamaican restaurant in Perth Amboy with friends; they were enthusiastic about it but it wasn't of the same quality as my friend served, and obviously didn't transform me into a "fan"), but I don't know that Exotic Eats is Jamaican per se. But I know that what I had was delicious and filling, and I can't wait to order from Exotic Eats again. Obviously, very highly recommended.
