    Chicken empanada and a croquette
    Mel T.

Ordered for pick up one rainy Monday around 3. Maybe they were super busy that day but even a pick up order took more than 30 minutes. We ordered: Croquette - not memorable. I just remember it was pretty oily Chicken empanada - pretty good. I would try some of their other empanadas Chicken noodle soup - I really just wanted some soup since it was cold and rainy. The soup of the day ran out so I settled for this one, which was just a fancier version of Campbell's condensed chicken noodle soup. It was just as salty Pernil sandwich - I really liked this sandwich; probably because of all the fatty chunks of pork. If you don't like fatty pork, this sammie ain't for you Cuban sandwich - pretty solid cubano Pork chunks - this said that it comes in sauce but it didn't. It did come with (some really oily) black beans and some rice that was nice and flavorful (but again, oily). The meat looked dry but it was surprisingly tender Overall, all the food is pretty oily. With so many different Latin American cuisines/restaurants in the area, I'm not sure if I'd come back to this one (especially since it wasn't exactly a quick pick up).

Ordered the banana pudding, tres leches, and Oreo cake. The tres leches was the best. The banana pudding and the Oreo cake was too sweet. Like overly sweet to the point where I couldn't eat it.

    Pollo guisado

I was craving some Puerto Rican food so I stopped in for an early dinner. I sat at the counter and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had the pollo guisado (stewed chicken) w white rice and red beans. It was delicious and even came with a few pieces of fried sweet plantain. This is a typical luncheonette type spot so don't expect anything too fancy but you won't be disappointed by the food. Pricing is also very budget friendly! I will definitely be back next time I want some rice and beans

    Not a Bacalaito

Yuca Alcapurria are supposed to be made with masa de yuca. not ground up yuca wrapped around the most salty meat. Not a real bacalaito. Doubtful about the authenticity of this restaurant

This is a nice little spot to grab authentic puerto rican and cuban delicacies on a dime. The ladies who tend to your table are friendly, attentive and accommodating. The shrimp mofongo I ordered was actually big enough to share and it was very delicious. The interior wall decor is cute and signifying of the island's vibe. I'd definitely go back to try another authentic puerto rican dish.

Delicious, great priced & portions food! We enjoyed each of our meals here, the quality, flavor and price can't be beat! Ordered via phone and it was ready within 15 minutes. Definitely one of our favorite Puerto Rican/Cuban spots.

    Nasty tasting pasteles
    Esmeralda L.

I don't know why this place is rated good. Everything I ordered was simple horrible. I ordered the arroz con condulez which was extremely mooshy. The bisteck empanesado that was dripping in grease and super salty. The pasteles tasted rotten inside. Overall horrible food.

This restaurant is amazing! The food is sooo good! Their shrimp and chicken mofongo is delicious. I tried so many of their dishes and they are all so yummy!

    Mofongo--savory and satisfying.

Sancocho Soup (Caribbean 3 Meat Soup) They even add Bolitas de Platano Plantain Balls like my Abuela use to do... :(

PROS 1. DELICIOUS Sancocho Soup (Caribbean 3 Meat Soup) Chicken, Oxtails and Pork!! I LOVE seeing the Bolitas de Platano. It makes me feel like Abuela is still around! 2. Well Cooked White Rice. 3. HUGE & DELICIOUS Alcapurias!!!!!! I'm in Puerto Rico!!! Wepaaaaa! 4. Mofongo was made well. 5. Pique de la casa (House made Hot Sauce) was Delicious! 6. Tamarind Juice was Delicious! 7. Tres Leches was Delicious. 8. Atmosphere is modern but casual. 9. Friendly and Attentive Staff! 10. Prices are Grrrrrrrreat!! Go there Hungry and Explore Cuba/Puerto Rico's Delights on several Plates! 11. Super Flavorful and Tender Arroz con Gandule (Yellow Rice with Pigeon Peas). Best in NJ So Far. It's Puerto Rican Abuela Style! 12. Chicken Gizzard Salad is Good! 13. Chicken Stew is Flavorful. 14. They serve Beers and Wine. No Puerto Rican Beer, Medalia yet! Presidente is good enough better than Corona. 15. Passion Fruit Juice is Good. 16. Chicken Noodle Soup is Flavorful. 17. Fried Red Snapper, Pargo Frito was Good. 18. Fried Yuca is Cooked Well. 19. Delicious Sangria. 19. Friendly staff. Especially Kassandra. CONS 1. I wish they had Puerto Rican Sweet Bread, Pan Sobao. It's sweeter and softer than Cuban Bread.. 2. Chivo Guisado needs more Flavor. Maybe chopped raw Onions, Bell peppers, and more Sofrito during the last 30 minutes?

If you really think about it the Dominican food has taken over the Bx. I searched, and found this place. The moment you step in you are greeted with the warmest blessings. The 2 beautiful people that worked there made our time there so memorable. The food was out of this world let me tell you. Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. We tried it all. Came home with passion fruit (parcha) and guyaba (guanabana) Delicious 10/10 It was so fresh and they don't add too much ice so you get all the juice taste. All in all I'm coming here from now on. A true BX staple for the community and a true essence of the Bori pride resides here. If you miss PR, come here.

Our waitress was top notch took care of our coffee and food orders with a smile on a rainy cloudy day. Ordered the Coquito latte, delicious- paired with the sweet and spicy chicken and Coquito batter waffle!! Wow the flavor was great didn't even need syrup. Loved the contrast of sweet and salty. Great portion sizes for the price. My wife got the Coquito French toast with scrambled eggs hash brown potatoes and bacon served on a charcuterie board. Eggs were fluffy and delicious the French toast was soft and buttery.
