Every time I visit, I always recommend the lady because she is skilled and efficient, getting me in and out quickly. However, it's a bit odd that when you call to make an appointment, you might arrive to find the older gentleman not working on anyone, as they seem to spread out appointment times but still accept walk-ins. Just ensure no one is parked out front when you drive by, and you should be fine--that's how they initially got me as a customer two years ago. LONG REVIEW AHEAD: I would give 0 starts if I could. I've been going here for years, but will take breaks and go elsewhere because the man who owns/operates this place is BEYOND rude. Today was the last time I'll ever set foot in there. I was in last week and needed a fill and pedicure but since there's only 2 people who work there, there wasn't anyone else available. I asked if I could go back on another day and do my nails. He said 11am. I wasn't able to go last week so decided to go today. I noticed online they open at 10, so I called to ask if I could go at 10. I was reprimanded that I was supposed to be there at 11 last week, now I'm asking to go at 10, so what time is it I want. Ummm obviously 10, because that's what I just asked. I got there at 10, and showed him a photo of what I'd like. A very narrow coffin shape with ombré and a little sparkle . He put on the tips and cut the shape, which was a wide square with slightly tapered sides. Not narrow, not coffin shaped. The sparkle was supposed to be more of an elegant wedding look. Instead he gave me this tacky super thick glitter. It was tacky and cheap looking. Luckily we hadn't gotten super far into the process. He had only first put the pink on my first hand, and was now doing the glitter part second. So before he went any further , I said the glitter was way too much and asked if we could tone it down, and also asked to please make my nails way more narrow and coffin shaped, not square. Instead of saying sure no problem, he rolled his eyes, mumbled underneath his breath , then grabbed clippers, not even a nail cutter and began hacking off my nails. He then proceeded to cut all my other nails off that hadn't been done yet. He started griping at me that it's my nails and what do I want. I want tot go somewhere else where I won't be yelled at for asking to receive what I want for the service I'm paying for !!!!!!! I've put up with his bad attitude for years because the woman who works there is very nice, and gives the best service. He's AWFUL and always has been. The fact that I'm treated like you're doing me a favor is the first problem. I'M PAYING FOR A SERVICE!!!! I pay 3x the amount at Onyx, as I do here, and I'm never treated badly. This is my go-to nail salon. It's super close to home, they do a good job, especially on my toes, and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely call ahead as they don't have a large staff and wait times can get long. I've seen them turn lots of people away because there are only two people working. Came in 40 minutes before closing and we were greeted immediately, even though everyone was busy. They let us stay, even though we had 2 ahead of us. The husband and wife that run this place are amazing. I didn't catch any names, but I had the guy work on my pedi. He did a really great job and even turned the tv up to make sure we could hear. LOVED this place. It's not super "snazzy" and has no bells and whistles, BUT the service is STELLAR. It's a hidden little gem and is now my choice for pedis and waxing. (I don't do manicures.) This place lacks customer service. I walked into this establishment and was treated very poorly. I walked in and all they did was stare at me for a second and then looked away. I then said "hello" and received no response. Next, I asked if the two there were the only one working. They said yes. So I asked if they were still taking walk ins ( it was about an hour before close). Again, no one answered me. I then asked "is anyone going to answer me?" And nothing. So I just said ok then I will leave. Even the little one who was with me asked "what's going on?" I had to tell her well these people are being mean to us for some reason so we are not going to give them out service. This experience was one of the worse experiences I've e et had with customer service. And I discourage everyone from supporting such a business. There are nail salons on every corner in the city. I have been here several times, including having a mani pedi for my wedding. They have been consistently good- no nicks and very clean detail. I like natural polish and these folks do the whole range. My natural French manicure lasted over a week. This shop is clean-nothing fancy. My mother bought a gift certificate for me here in 2013. The GC states that it expires in 6 months. During that time, I called three times to try to make an appointment but each time the man who answered the phone and I could not book a time convenient to me to travel 20 plus minutes to use the GC. Today I went in the salon thinking that they would at least honor it, or provide some sort of exchange but once again despite it being 2:30 pm I was told it would be an hour wait and again was negotiation to book at another time. I said No, why don't you refund the $28 GC. He told me now that it was expired and that there was nothing I could get for it. I recently read Yelp reviews on Solar Nails in Richardson, as it is near my office and wanted to know what reviews it had received. After noting mostly positive reviews, I called to make an appointment, which was easy to schedule after work. I had been biting my nails to the quick for several months and needed artificial nails so I would stop. A man and a woman both work there. The man did my nails and the woman did my pedicure. The man seemed concerned about why I bit my nails and suggested several stress relief measures, including meditation. I really appreciated his advice and concern.
