Always Great service here! Only issue is that the ventilation system is awful. No matter what time of year I come it's very busy always and the smell is horrific. It's a big place so it's not cramped but the ventilation system is not good. It should be better considering all the chemicals. I went in and asked for a gel removal, I requested that she just use the acetone and not the drill because I wanted my nails natural. The technician ignored that request and used the drill anyway. She asked if I wanted my nails filed and I said sure, assuming she would buff out all the scratches. My nails look AWFUL! They are scratched, damaged, and thin. When I went to checkout they charged me $30!!! I asked 3 times for an explanation of what was $30 and they said $5 for the removal and $25 for the filing. That seems completely ridiculous. The woman owner yelled at me for picking up a lollipop that dropped and putting it back in the candy container. The lollipop was covered in paper so I didn't see anything wrong with it. Well let's start with my last visit! I normally have a standing monthly appointment, however each time I come in, I'm confronted by the rude receptionist who by the way, is NOT THE OWNER!! The owner is a quiet woman who is a nail tech, and her husband is a very friendly, nice man that usually works weekends as the receptionist. I found this out from my nail tech. I was shocked the receptionist behaves rudely and unprofessional! I called her out on her behavior on a few visits by simply saying why are you being so loud? why are you being rude?, and I'm not a child please stop talking to me like that!" she would then change her tune and start to say nice things like let me see your nails. Do you like them? Let me see your pedicure. Do you like the work? I would just ignore her. I have decided not to return even though the price is reasonable because of the front desk receptionist, and my regular technician having a "sleepy vibe" on my last visit, leaving nail polish on my nails skin around my toes, etc... that specific day I was met with "sign in!!" Out of the gate being yelled very sharply and rudely as if she had never seen me before. I ignored her because I was not in the mood for her shenanigans and bossy unprofessionalism. she said "you have to sign so I know who comes up next!!" I then walked over and said you don't have to talk to me like that please stop!! I'm not in the mood for you today!! This is my day off and I want a peaceful experience here. I'm tired of coming in here and dealing with you talking to me crazy!!" I was empowered by the fact that I am almost 59 years old, a regular customer, and I don't take crap from anyone these days, especially with the climate that we're living in! The crazies are out there and for all she knows I could've been one of the crazies, but I'm not!! she then went back-and-forth with me saying "no you stop!" I said no YOU stop!! then she became a third grader and I engaged her stupidity with back-and-forth no you! no you! no you! no you!! Diabolical she finally stopped. The other patrons looked alarmed!! I just walked away from her and went to my technician. That was my last day at Solar Nails. This review is not regarding my daughter's actual manicure, rather the behavior of the woman taking calls, making appointments, checking customers in and out. Wow- this woman made the whole experience just horrible. She was ridiculously loud and obnoxious. She told me that I needed a pedicure while I was waiting....seriously?! Just b/c they weren't painted. How rude is this lady. I asked about the charge (because it was different than the advertised price) and she was beyond dismissive and yelled again "you need to talk to technician" and proceeded to yell /talk to her from the front to back of salon!! Then she kept telling me about having to give the technician a tip - I was fully planning on doing so, I did - however I have never been yelled at and told to tip. First and last time going there... Place is clean..we'll see how the manicure holds up, but because of that lady we won't be going back. read more

A perfect visit. So many chairs for both pedicures and manicures. I came in for a basic pedicure with gel polish. Basic is what I wanted and basic was delivered. No complaints at all. My pedicure felt rushed and uneven, and the French pedicure was sloppy with uneven lines and polish on the skin. ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING! I have been going to this place for years and so has my mom. I have put up with their horrible attitudes for a while. They always have snarky comments and it purely angers me. Recently I called to reschedule an appointment, I spoke very nicely and as soon as I finished speaking she immediately said calm down. Not just that, my friend who also got her nails done there, told me that the worker asked her if she left the technician a tip. But not a "Would you like to leave a tip?", it was a "You left her a tip right." I have been reading the reviews and I was not surprised to see that I am not the only one. I've come to this nail salon a few times. They are average at best, but i haven't found a better one and now this will be my last time. This is how they let me leave after I asked her to clean up my nails and glue 3x. Hailey was going to let me leave with thick glue and filings all under my nails. She was rushing for another client that came after me. When I asked her to clean up the glue she huffed. She then proceeded to file my nails and then massage lotion with all the shavings all over me. I am always on the hunt for a great pedicure. I tried this place after someone recommended them. My first spa pedicure was great and I returned within 2-3 weeks for another pedicure. My second pedicure was almost very nice. My third pedicure on 12/12 is where I made the decision not to return. I have struggled for years with in grown nails and for the last 6 months my nails have been growing straight without issue on the sides. Sometimes the corners get sharp and need to be cut straight back again to keep me comfortable. I mentioned to the woman when I sat down that the sides were bothering me. She didn't look at them at all, just took the giant cutters and jammed them down the side of my toe and cut. I began to bleed. She attempted again and I said it was fine. Don't even touch them. I know they'll be sore if you continue. She continues my pedicure and decided to start punching my feet and legs. Although the massage was nice and thorough I did not want to be punched. She pulled my toes multiple times over and over. I also don't like that. She asked me if it hurt and I said "I don't like my toes pulled" Her gloves were ripped to the point that I didn't understand why she even had them on ... The paint job was not clean at all as there is paint all over my skin and I actually don't think they were top coated because they smudged after two dryer cycles. Cheated with my regular salon to come to Solar nails for a refill. It was close and convenient. I *LOVED* the ambiance, the promptness of service, and how I was in and out. I saw them taking calls for appointments, so prior to my next visit, I decided to call to make an appointment. I was due for a fresh set and my regular nails to be cut. I also wanted to see if they'd have time to paint my 4 year olds nails (while its not a frequent occurance, she LOVES going to the nail salon) receptionist told me they were booked up. No big deal. I can choose another day. She then tells me she can, and if there's time, they'll paint my daughters. Nail tech insisted I did NOT need a new set (mine was a month old). I figured, okay, you're the pro, do a refill. I normally don't do a design, but it was for my anniversary, and I LOVED how they came out. They squeezed time in for my daughter. I handed the tech who did my nails $20 tip and the tech who did my daughter's a $10 tip and went to the front to pay. THE RECEPTIONIST ASKED ME IF I TIPPED AND TOLD ME THERE WAS AN ATM MACHINE. I wouldn't haven't been so taken aback, but I didn't hear her ask anyone else that. I politely told her I did. Two days later, my pointer finger tip breaks, BADLY, and I'm forced to remove the top. I don't get my nails done often but when I do I used to come here when I visit family. The staff is polite and helpful and my nails always look good leaving. Unfortunately, in my most recent experience here it became prevalent that I am a privileged white woman, blessed to get treated and noticed in this place. My most recent experience here I was waiting for a friend to finish up when I realized there was a bias in the customer service. I sat across from a colored woman, looking to get her nails done. She was patiently waiting, no one was helping her and my ignorant mind just thought no one was available. It wasn't until a white woman walked in and one of the nail artists walked right up to her to help. I quickly realized it wasn't about availability, they were actively ignoring her. This was an act of racism and it breaks my heart to see this happen and to continually get reminded of how far we still have to go as a society. I've been going to Solar Nails since I moved into the area in 2021. I thoroughly checked them out as cleanliness is very very important and not just because of COVID. The salon is a nice size and I do not feel like I am sitting in tight space. It's bright and nicely decorated. Sally is my nail technician. I usually zero in on one person to have a consistent experience. However, I have observed several of the other ladies who are very talented so I would not hesitate to have them fill in for her. Sally has been consistent in taking care of my nails and makes great recommendations. She is fast too which I appreciate as I'm usually getting my manicures done between work meetings. I do gel and most recently tried the dip process. I've done the same for my pedicures. Kim is that one person. She gives me an amazing pedicure experience each time. For the price it's totally worth it compared to other salons in the area or private nail techs. Over the years they have only gotten more and more busy so MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I'm emphasizing that because if you don't, you will most likely have to wait and you will have a newer lady as the experienced ones are usually booked. I know walk-ins are welcomed but I would still make an appointment even if you are just getting a regular mani or pedi. my nail technician did an alright job but was so incredibly rude. she actually yelled at me because I pick up the nail sample that was not attached to the board accusing me of breaking it. it was so uncomfortable and embarrassing. literally the entire place turned to look. I stopped in to get a feel for the place, and I liked that it was not crowded, most ppl still wearing a mask, and stations were not on top of each other. Glad I decided to give it a go. They were absolutely terrible. Totally screwed up my nails. The nail tech rushed through the whole process and then "attempted" to do a little heart on my nail. It turned out like an unrecognizable blob. Your job is to paint nails and you can't even do a simple heart? They charged us more than the menu price and we just didn't feel comfortable there at all. Even if you have an appointment they will never take you on time as they always overbook and will schedule 2 people at the same appointment time then just take one.
