We bought our solar safe pool cover a year and a half ago. It has saved us a lot of work during the winter when we can't use the pool anyway. I have a palo verde tree and a mesquite tree that are always dropping seeds, leaves, flowers, etc. onto the pool cover instead of the water. The sales person (Tom) was very nice and informative but failed to mention that the cover needs to be cleaned every 6-12 months at a cost of $475 and that the cover is so heavy it takes 3 people to put it on so therefore it is sitting in the corner. When they came to install it, we had just had our pool redone with new pavers and they put the holes in the wrong spot so had to pay to get the pavers replaced. They put some chemical on the new pavers that won't come up but was told that they would go away with the sun shining on them. I wouldn't recommend this company. I'm sure that there are better safety precautions that are easier and cheaper. read more

I absolutely love this Pool cover! It has allowed us to leave town for a couple of weeks at a time and shut down our pool and when we get back, the water is perfect. I met Solar safe at the home and garden show in Phoenix. They came out measured and presented the estimate. The hardest decision was what color to have. From the safety, maintenance, aspect this was a no brainer. The professionalism of the crew to make to custom fit cover was no less than excellent. They take the time to go through the process. The only regret I had was not to order the reel for removal and storage while uncovered. So after 1 week I ordered the reel which also was custom made. The added value and ease of install and removal was made so easy, I could complete the process in less than 20 minutes. It does take practice but definitely worth it!!!!! Me and my wife are extremely pleased with our solar safe pool cover. Our main reason for getting a cover was for safety. Our first child was about to turn 1 when we started looking at pool safety options. Our back yard was already equipped with a self closing sliding back door and a child lock but we wanted more full proof options while we didn't want to lose some of the usability with our back yard. Initially we had been looking as fences but didn't like how that would close us off to most of our back yard and with the elevated edges my pool has, putting a fence around the permitter of pool wasn't much of an option. After doing some research I came across the Solar Safe Pool Cover website. It was very simple to set up a free estimate and consultation. They came out and answered all my questions and it was a pretty easy decision to move forward with the install. It did take almost 2 months to get the cover installed but part of that did fall over the holidays. They were out most the day doing the install and afterwords was walked through the care, install and removal of the cover. It's been just over 3 months since the cover was installed. I had been previously paying for a weekly pool service that had increased quite a bit in price over the past few years. I was told he could no longer service the pool with the cover due to increased liability and the time the cover would add to servicing the pool. I had planned on discontinuing service after the cover was installed anyways since the cover was supposed to reduce chemical usage and debris getting in the pool. I can say so far it has been great. I was able to partially hibernate the pool over the winter, running the pump just an hour a day, and have not had to add any chemical since the cover went on. I just took the cover off partially for the first time to get it ready for the season. Water looks great and is warming up nicely. Our baby is a water baby and if he see's it he wants to be in it, having it completely covered has helped keep his interest elsewhere and we are not having to constantly pull him away from the side of the pool. It's also nice when we have friends over with little ones, we can be in the back yard and they don't have to worry about their kids falling in the pool. Only problem we had, we had quite a bit of rain over the winter and the pump they provide has an automatic on off via a little float inside the pump. Sounds like a great idea but ours broke after the first few rains. A plastic piece on the inside of the impeller broke. First I contacted the company that makes the pump for black and decker from the owners manual and they sent me a replacement. With the new one, I've listened to it when the water level is near the bottom, the float must be sensitive and you can hear the pump kicking on and off rapidly as the float reaches the shut off point. My theory is that this was hard on the internal plastic piece and eventually overstressed it and broke. With the new one I've just been plugging it in when needed then unplugging it as it reaches the low level. Haven't had any other issues. Maybe I had a one off problem but I didn't want have another one break. Hope this long and extended review helps you if you are looking think about a cover for your pool. We had Solar Safe Pool Covers install a cover in the Spring of 2024 and enjoyed watching how they did the installation. That crew was very professional and friendly. Then on November 19 we had the cover cleaned and conditioned by their service person, Raul. He contacted us ahead of time to let us know when he would arrive and was prompt on the time he stated. Raul did a fantastic job and gave me several great hints should I want to do the servicing myself in the future. He also recommended that I not leave the floating chlorine dispenser under the cover, since it had remained in one position and discolored the cover (Raul helped me remove it). The pool cover looked fantastic when Raul finished. He also recommended not removing the cover for a few days in order to allow the new coating to dry completely, which I did. Unfortunately, a dust storm occurred the following day which coated the cover with a thin layer of dirt. Such is life! We've had our pool cover for about 8 months now and it has been great! It's so nice to allow our 1 year old to play in the backyard without having to worry about him falling in the pool. In addition it has made pool maintenance during the winter months so easy. You really can walk on the cover and it is relatively easy to install and to remove. It did the job of hibernating our pool for us while we were gone for the summer. The only problem we had was that the pumps provided to us for pumping rain water off the top of the pool cover were too lightweight to withstand windy conditions. We had to purchase heavier duty submersible pumps to overcome this, each at a cost of $~165 or so. Otherwise the product works as intended. read more

Every fall I dread when the leaves begin to fall, as it means I will be spending at least an hour every night, after work, cleaning the leaves out of the pool. Best Investment we ever made . My husband was the one to convince. I have been wanting a cover for the past 5 yrs. We were at a Home Show for Westbrook Village and Solar Pool Covers were there. When the guy came he showed us the picture of the leaves on the cover and went on to say all you have to do is take a blower to them blow them to one corner and pick them up . Today we had our heat saver pool cover installed by Salvador and Ricky from Solar Safe Poll Covers. Excellent workmanship! Started 8:30 a.m. and finished by 1 p.m. Looks fabulous! Both gentlemen spent time on how to care for the new cover, proper homeowner maintenance tips, and how to remove and store the cover. Attached are some photos. This cover replaces the old bubble wrap cover and reel to wind it up. We used to go through 1 bubble wrap cover per year and hopefully, this will last at least 6+ years. We've had our pool cover for 6 months now. A reviewer (Matt H.) hit on the positive points I would make as well. We are happy with the service we received, the look of the cover, it's effectiveness with retaining heat and the safety of it. Our cover was installed at the end of March (2023). We were able to use the pool in April due to it's effectiveness. It did take my husband and me some time to take the cover on and off, and we had to use the pump each time because we weren't great at it. There was one or two sinking episodes, but dragging the cover into the yard, folding it and starting again fixed that problem. After a few weeks of doing the cover together, I figured out how to take it off myself in a slightly different way, and I stopped needing the pump. We had some chipped decking. I just painted the chipped areas. We also have some loose anchors, but the paperwork we received addresses that issue. I'm not sure how long we can and will extend our pool season this year, but I have no issues with removing the cover for a swim or pool service. I know we will look forward to an early swim season in 2024. read more

After 4.5 years with the cover it has cut maintenance, chemicals, water loss and need to run the pump. But after last summer it quickly started deteriorating, and there is holes forming all over the cover. It is definitely no longer safe to walk on. The cover has an 8 year warranty, but it is a prorated warranty and you have to pay for their cleaning service or it becomes void. I never did their cleaning service, and just tried to clean myself. I don't regret getting the cover, and think every pool owner in PHX should have a cover like this due to the massive water waste from evaporation. My pool was losing over 50 gallons a day in the summer just from evaporation! We live in the desert and act like we have unlimited water here, and water cuts are coming with the current drought on the Colorado River. I also saved time going from a few hours each week maintaining my pool to spending a few hours every 2-3 months. I just wish they were more upfront about the warranty being prorated, and the required cleaning service. So I'm not sure if using the cleaning service would have actually gotten the full 8 years out of the cover. But right now I'm resorting to patching all the holes myself rather than purchasing a new cover since I don't have the money for a new cover, so hopefully I can prolong the life of it. But the work of patching it up is just creating a new maintenance task and so I'm writing this review in my new frustration. In summary, I do recommend the cover but fully read the warranty before purchase and understand that it might not last the full 8 years if you don't follow the cleaning schedule. read more

Despite the cover being installed for months without being disturbed, I am patching NEW holes every week. About 5 per week. Usually pinholes, but every 3-4 weeks, a slightly larger hole. There is literally no reason this should be happening. As you can see below, the company chooses to do anything, and makes up invalid excuses. Maybe I had a slightly unique situation in that my neighbor planted two huge trees that they bought from hell. The Latin name for these trees is Arborus Succieus Mostius; they literally shat eleven-and-a-half months a year mostly into my pool because of the prevailing winds. Well the cover stops me from spending all my free time cleaning my pool. It was a bit pricey, but the bonus is my electric bills are way down and I am saving on chemical costs as well. It is a hassle to clean after a rainstorm only because the leaves from 'the pooping tree' clogging up the cover pump but that only happens a thousands times less than daily cleaning before I had a cover. My pool is not that big but being brand new I still wanted to protect it when Its in hibernation. I chose this company because they make it to fit on site and quality of materials. For the most part I do like the product and feel it was quality. The only dissatisfaction I have was on the install. The drilled nutserts into the ground and chipped away a good amount of pool decking. The professional thing would of been to ask for touch up paint. I even mentioned it to them after but this company didn't see to care about the appearance. Materials good. Workmanship and attention to detail really need improvement. I had to touch up all the pool decking around the holes before it spread further. Hope that helps you on your decision. ---- After that last comment from solar safe. My decking was only installed two months prior and I sent two emails with no response and called once just to inform you guys that this would of been better practice. No issues keeping our pool covered and clean and my daughter and I even tested walking on the cover and the pool cover can sustain our weight. This is definitely an innovative yet safe pool cover. Dust storms here in AZ are no longer a cleaning nightmare, no sand on the bottom and no leaves and such clogging the skimmer. We save $$$ on chemicals as we close it up when not in use. Also less wear and tear on our filter system. We can easily uncover the just the spa portion of the pool. We are very happy with our cover.
