I hired Kangaroo Pools last spring to design and construct our 32x13' pool, alumawood pergola, and backyard landscape. All in all, it took about 4 months to complete the project from design, permits, and start to finish, and this seems on par with other pool building companies in our communities. Their crew worked in the dead heat of our Arizona summer heat waves and although we offered coolers for them, they were self prepared. I am happy to report that after enjoying our pool for a full year, no issues to be reported of the pool. Kangaroo pools have remained in contact, and fixed any issues (very minor) that cropped up. Vince, Vanessa, German and their teams coordinated well and were responsive in their texts throughout the build. The key to working well with them is making sure you're ontop of your own communication, articulation, and clarity. If you consider yourself a good communicator, then working with Kangaroo pools will be a breeze and you can benefit from fair pricing out of the 5 other pool services we contacted and compared with during the time. I was very particular about the drainage and irrigation out of the yard, and they listened to my feedback, and did not hesitate to dig back up the corrogated piping and his crew was accommodating and did it the way I wanted. On Friday, April 19th our pool project was complete by Kangaroo Pools LLC having completed the chip-out of our old plaster, application of the pebble sheen replacement coating and finally repairing and repainting our cool deck. The crews involved through out the process were timely and impeccably tidy. Through out the process communication was timely and courteous - all of our questions and concerns were answered and met. Vincent is both personable and engaging in his conversations, and his support person in the office Vanessa was quick to both share information and pass along important communications. I hired kangaroo pools to change the sand in my sand filter. The price is competitive and Miguel showed up on time and changed the sand in a timely manner. Kangaroo Pools services four of my short term rentals in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and I can't recommend them highly enough. They understand the challenges presented with pool care at an STR and their communication and professionalism really puts my mind at easy knowing that my properties are in the right hands. Their prices are fair and when there are issues with the equipment, they report it immediately. Vince, and the other techs are always able to complete the repairs in a timely manner. Vanessa and the rest of the office staff always respond quickly and communicate thoroughly. My only complaint is that their service area isn't where some of my other properties are located! Finally after days he called back to apologize for not showing up and asked if he could give me an estimate (on a $40,000 job) at a time that conflicted with my schedule. Hired Kangaroo Pools to install pool automation system. The process was not the greatest experience but it was not the worse either. To start, communication was in question as getting a hold of them is hard and the return time expect 24 to 48 hours even if they just called you or emailed you 1 minute before. After communication issues, I still decided to go with them and have them complete the work. They ask you to send photos of the system and give you a quote. They then give you a recommendation of what you need which is great. After a little back and forth my wife and I settle on what system to go with. At this time I am asking questions and making comments of what I need for my system and making sure the estimate includes everything and is within our budget. I told them we needed 3 actuators and they told me no you need 2. I repeated and told them again I need 3 based on my system and based off what was told to me by the pool builder. They said two will work and you will not encounter any surprises cost. I agreed and sent payment to get scheduled. You would think they would call and let you know a date and time if when is good for the customer? Not in this situation, I got a call from the installer saying he was on his way and will be there in 30 minutes. Luckily we were able to get the dogs locked up and let him work that day. A good thing Vanessa did was call and leave a message apologizing for what happened. I appreciated that taking accountability. So that was great. They installed the system and to my surprise I get hit with $120 charge for electrical whip which I could have ordered online $25 if they needed that and I still have wires going all over the place. But the kicker was the installer telling me we were good to go. Had he tested all the stuff he installed he would have realized it was not working correcting. Needed to get that 3rd actuator that they said we didn't needed. Another $250 and they charged me an install fee at that. But said they normally would charge $120 but charged $40 because of the situation. The situation that could have been avoided. Needless to say I feel nickeled and dime and it left a sour taste in my mouth. One thing I can say is they are very friendly and easy to work with for the most part. They try and fix the issues when they come up but could have all be avoided. I'm not made about paying for the service or equipment. I am upset because I was not told these prices up front which went over our intended budget. I'm also frustrated at the fact they charged be $120 for electrical whip that cost $22 on Amazon or Home Depot and tried to sale me on the face they normally charge $75 per for it. But even with that the $40 charge for the extra labor really pissed me off the most. I spent a lot of money for this system and to have this many issues with communication and service you would have thought it would have been. Hey sir we know it's been a rough go. We are just going to charge you for the parts. No hard feelings the system is working. My wife and I hide all the cords that they left exposed. So from that stand point we are happy. No trying to bash. This company just giving an honest experience and you mark your choice. I do truly think they are a company that is trying to be great and just fell short for me but over all not a horrible experience. read more

I called because I have a large tiled fountain that needs to be thoroughly cleaned and possibly have some of the tiles replaced. The pump needs service/replacement as well. I had some earlier repairs and maintenance work done by this company that turned out okay. Later on I needed some of the same maintenance work done again. Instead of sending out the same tech, they sent out another guy who was clueless on how to do the work. A second guy came out as well and he was clueless. We're not talking about a highly unusual thing, but something done every day in the valley by dozens of pool techs. They could have seriously ruined all of my pool equipment with the bad work, but fortunately I caught the problem early and fixed it myself. Strange situation. You hire a company to do some work and you know more about the repair than the guys who come out??? I talked to the owner (Vincent) and suggested that he do some training for these guys. He argued with me on this and it's like I was speaking a foreign language to him. Look, there are employees everyone who do not know how to do certain repairs. But perhaps they can learn to do it correctly with some training and monitoring. Not here. You might as well suggest they give you a pint of blood as suggest they train their employees and monitor their work. These guys might be okay if all you need is someone to come out every week and empty your skimmer baskets and brush the sides of the pool. But if you need maintenance or repairs that are done once a year or so, this is NOT the company to hire. If you yourself do not know a good repair from a bad one, you might think these guys are good. If you know when a repair is bad, you will know their work is bad. read more

As I spent my entire carrier servicing customers, over multiple states, utilizing contract labor I have become a little leery when dealing with a new contractor. However, this is one instance when my apprehension was not justified! From my first contact with Vanessa to my communication with Barbara this has been a great relationship. Service is spot on and always timely. Recently, we had the pool drained and the tile cleaned of stubborn calcium deposits. Kangaroo Pools performed waterline calcium removal for me one year ago. The job was completed beautifully and we were 100% satisfied with the quality of the work, but holy smokes are these guys expensive! The pool was remodeled less than two years ago, so the calcium waterline problem wasn't very bad, but that didn't stop Kangaroo from charging me $350 for 120 feet of tile cleaning. So, this year I went to Harbor Freight, bought a soda blaster for $109 and a 50-pound bag of sodium bicarb for $40. Now I'm now able to get the exact same results at a fraction of the cost. The attached photos are the job I was able to achieve on my own. You really don't need to pay for waterline calcium cleanup. I had no idea how easy it is to remove the waterline calcium. read more

We have been having problems with our last two pool service companies. We have always had service twice each week and that stopped happening on any kind of consistent basis. Promises were made and not kept. We never knew who and when anyone was coming. While trying to sort it out, we eventually had a green pool for the first time ever. We heard about Kangaroo Pools from a friend, called them on a Friday afternoon desperate for service and to find a company who would keep their word. We talked to Barbara, who listened and acted on our needs. We not only wanted to change pool companies, schedule consistent pool service beginning the next week but more importantly, needed someone to come out the next day ( Saturday) to service the pool and determine what was wrong. Barbara stayed late until she could find someone willing to do it. Saturday morning at 6:40 a truck arrived to assess our pool and provide the needed service. The two service people were here for an hour and left saying they would be back in three hours to check to see if the chemicals they used corrected the murky green water. They came back as promised and for the first time in six weeks, we can look at our pool again with pride. In a world where people are not showing up and businesses are struggling to keep their word, we are so happy to have found Kangaroo Pools and Barbara. We had contracted with Kangaroo Pools 4 years ago to install a Bionizer System on our brand new pool. The Bionizer is an Australian product and we were told by the salesman (Laurence) that the system was maintenance free and had hundreds of installations on commercial and residential pools. Vince from Kangaroo Pools introduced himself as the Bionizer support for the greater Phoenix area and a seasoned professional. We had the system installed. It relies on copper interacting with the water to sanitize the pool without the need for chlorine. Immediately form the start of the system a trail of stains immersed from every water inlet into our pool and stained the fresh new pool plaster. We had to partially drain the pool and Vic e came out to acid was the fresh plaster and thought the stains were minimized they were still present. We allowed this as it was minimally visible. Another concern with the copper was it began to stain the stainless steel rings around the LED Pool lights. Within weeks, very gradually at first we began to notice marks on the pool floor. Thinking maybe this was a result of the pool cleaner we just accepted it. Vic en was contacted over these years to replace Copper cells, and adjust the system as needed. Progressively the staining got worse. We had the pool completely drained last month after Vince removed the Copper cell and we had the pool acid washed. All the while we had been in contact with Bionizer in Australia. My wife spoke with the owner of the company and he insisted that he stands by the product and it works. We voiced our concern to him that Vince was charging us for every service call for what clearly was a poor installation form the beginning and the product was staining our pool. We had three other pool service companies look at the pool and they all said they had never seen a pool stained so much form metal staining due to the copper cell not functioning correctly. Having drained the pool and acid washed it at our expense we asked Bionizer to have Kangaroo Pools (the only support in AZ for them btw) come out and correct part of the Bionizer system that was failing called the Eco Oxydizer. We voiced our concerns asking that they take care of it or return our money. Shortly after that we received an email form Kangaroo Pools that they could no longer support or service our pool. So now no support at all in all of AZ, the company is based out of Australia and we are out the original $3,200.00 we paid for the system and installation not to mention the cost of repairs we have incurred for a system poorly installed that doesn't work. SO if possible I would stay clear of Bionizer and know if Kangaroo Pools installs a system for you they will cut and run if they know they cant get any more cash out of you. read more

Vincent provided "start up" services for our pool we just had built. He came out twice in 2 days as the process to establish the ability to control the pool through an app took some time. There were updates needed and calls to Pentair support. He remained patient. He had set up pools prior so knew his way around the Pentair app. We'll be using his weekly pool service. Will review it later. Start up fee was $250. Added chems to our pool, provided chlorine floater and installed 2 bubblers. Will convert to Salt Water system in 30 days, so he's treating it like a chlorine system until then. I recommend Vincent for start up services. read more
