Took my car here to buy a new radio, because the old one was broken, I'd been told elsewhere. I selected a new radio, then when Tino, the head repairman went to install it, he had to remove the old one first. Suddenly he yelled, triumphantly holding up the old radio, and told me that there was nothing wrong with it, just a broken connection in the back! Such honesty impressed me no end. I bought and told him to install the new one anyway. Then I gave them my classic car, a Pontiac, to tint the windows. They took great care, and I couldn't be happier with the result. Had my windows tinted today at Solar Craft. First of all i must say the price was more than reasonable. I paid $190 for all 5 windows. And while i had to wait awhile for them to actually get to my car, the job took only about an hour and half. They did a solid job, not a bubble in sight. David talked me into getting the carbon-based tint, apparently it's better for cel and gps reception. Once again, the Yelp community is right! I called SolarCraft about window tinting for my brand new Prius, and they quoted me "$200 even" over the phone. I made an appointment for the next morning, and when I arrived, I was introduced to the different types of tint options by Ernesto. I was given the option for the premium SunTek tint that would not interfere with cellphone, GPS or radio signals, at no extra charge. An upgrade to the "ceramic" tint that had ratings for cutting out UV/heat would be $80 extra. All these options come with lifetime warranty. Ernesto and the crew were very helpful in helping us decide on the shade of tint, 'matching' what I had on my existing car, and also pointing out examples on their own cars parked on the street. They were done in under 3 hours, and our car looks great! No BS, no tricks, just honest, friendly service, and a job well done. Thank you, SolarCraft! read more

Solar craft auto is the worst company I have ever done business with . The way they conduct business is cancerous. I used them for some window tinting . The owner, David, is the rudest human being possible. He has harassed me and my mother, calling us on our personal phones and even showing up in person! He has performed fraud on a check he received from the job in 2010, changing the date to 2016 with obvious evidence. Save yourselves from this fraudulent person. His work ethic is horrible, as well as the condition of his window tint. All of which I had to replace personally because of the pathetic material he uses. Save yourselves, there are better tinters out there that are actually honest and worth your time and money. Don't give this scumbag the chance to rob from you. read more

I just bought a car stereo here. The entire experience was excellent. - I needed it done very fast as I had just sold my car and had to deliver it in 2 hours. No Problem. They installed while I waited. - They sold me something for under $100 that had ALL the features I wanted and had even more power than the one I was replacing. - The stereo (a Sony) sounds GREAT! and I can plug in a flash drive and my ipod (I bought an excellent ipod cable for $15 - which I suggest). Solar Craft is a great shop. I searched around the area for a bit before settling on this place. I wanted to tint my windows so I called ahead a scheduled an appointment. They are pleasant to deal with and professional. I didn't want to spend too much on a tint job and this place fits the bill. They don't use high end tint but it isn't the bottom of the barrel either. In any case, you get what you pay for, nothing more, nothing less. I'm plenty satisfied. I came back to get the rear tint redone maybe a month after and they fixed it without any problems. There are certainly more specialized shops with the high end ceramic films but their prices are way beyond Solarcrafts. A good shop overall for a decently priced tint job. read more

I'll have to say that the service here is pretty great. Called this place weeks ago to inquire about ceramic tinting. I was given a quote but I still wanted to shop around for a better deal. Couldn't find one. In fact, no one else came close and no one else was reviewed as well in regards to tinting. I came here this morning to finally get my windows tinted with the ceramic stuff. I dropped off my car at 9am and was given a loaner so that I could drive back to work. At 11:15am I received a call telling me my Acura MDX was finished and ready for pick up. Almost everyone here seemed nice. Until I realized when it came to "custom" car stereo installation. I would've been better off going to Best Buy. I have an older British car. I wanted to install some 6-1/2" speakers on the rear shelf, which originally accommodated some weird 5.35" speaker size. The whole reason I came to SolarCraft was because David (the owner) said they would cut out the holes to the right size, install the speakers, install the amp and rewire the car. And that was it. The price was twice what others had quoted me, but those other places said they couldn't cut the holes for me. Which, in the end, sounded good to me, plus, the ratings on Yelp were great. So, when I came back to the shop to pick up my car, I realized the bottoms of the speakers were hanging incredibly low into the trunk... But, I was excited to pick up my car, so I thought it must've been because I bought reference quality speakers and I new they had a deeper mounting depth.... Also the Dynamat was clearly showing from under the carpet, and he left the old wiring hanging in the trunk. Then I saw they threw away the boxes my speakers and amp came in. I don't know about you, but if I bring in 600+ dollars of electronics, in their boxes, to be installed, I expect to have those boxes back, with warranty cards, accessories and instruction manuals... But no, they went in the trash because, "why would we keep them? It's trash." (- Ernesto) So, David went dumpster diving and found only the box the speakers came in... Of which the speaker grilles were missing... Of course. Hybrid Audio sells those grills at almost $20 a pop. Ugh... I drove off kinda pissed, but happy that I finally had the work done, until the next day... I realized the reason the speakers were sitting so low. THE HOLES WERE NOT CUT AT ALL. They just mounted the speakers under the sheet metal and called it a day. Even though the speakers were partially covered by the sheet metal!! I called furious. Somehow David was completely content with charging me twice as much as other places for doing the job he did do, and also didn't even work to do the rest of the job he agreed to do. So, he had me come back in... He was nice about it, but was still defending the work. When I arrived, I realized the guy who works in the "custom installation" garage didn't look so happy. When I came back to pick the car up... I just saw the holes were cut, the speakers were sitting higher up, and the carpet was covering the Dynamat... So, still angry that I had to come back, I left finally feeling the job was done. I look closely now... THE SPEAKERS AREN'T EVEN SITTING FLUSH. THEY'RE FLOATING ABOVE THE SHEET METAL BECAUSE THE HOLES THEY CUT WEREN'T BIG ENOUGH. The sheet metal looked like it was cut by a teenager. Jagged edges. Metal shavings everywhere under the carpet. And the holes have sharp metal jutting into the speaker frame. When they screwed in the $300 reference quality speakers (that I want to last a lifetime) they just screwed the speakers in until the sharp metal cut into the chassis of the speaker and gave disgusting cuts all the way around the frame. I would've been completely fine if they just told me they couldn't do it. I would've bought a 5 1/2" hole saw myself, cut the holes, and used my crappy grinder to soften the edges. But $100 for the hole saw and a lot of time and sweat.... I thought this was going to be worth it. But no... If you need a custom install stay the heck away from this place. That guy sitting in the custom install area should be fired. Or, at least, don't give him any of your business. You'll just get screwed over like I did. read more

This place was $500 for the radio I purchased at Walmart for $150. The backup camera was $150 here and I paid $50 on Amazon. I have a 2015 Honda Fit, and with tinting the front (minus the windshield), it's 9 windows. NINE. LOLz. But, he was by far the cheapest price I got for the carbon tint after calling 4 different places for the same type of tint. He also had immediate availbility which was awesome. After he finished the tint (in about 2 hours), he double checked his work. I must say, I've owned a 'few' cars in my day, but this was by far the best tinting I've received in a long time. I also got the lifetime warranty since I went with the carbon, which is awesome. On these hot summer days, the tint totally made a difference and I'm glad I went with him for it. I couldn't have asked for anything better. For tint, I would not go anywhere else. He's definitely earned my vote and recommendation. read more

don't believe what Ezra posted about this place. I trust this place a lot more than shoddy crooked places like Best Buy or Al & Ed's Autosound which are rip off scam artists. Solarcraft will not cheat you or charge you with extravagant labor costs like Best Buy & Al & Eds. Solarcraft will do professional work and they sure do work hard for the money and your business/loyalty. Just had a Rockford Fosgate prime mono amp swapped in to replace a failing Hifonics mono amp and they only charge me $30 and it only took about 30 minutes. Best Buy or Al & Ed's would probably and purposely take 2+ hours to do the job but charge $80-100 an hour for the work done and the wiring would probably be mickey mouse at best. This is why places like Circuit City went out of business!! read more

The guy is nice and I didn't have to wait long, but the stereo we got put in gives us static on the most local stations. Apparently, when I went back to have it checked out in case it was just a bad connection, they told me with after market stereos you'll get 20% less the reception. Probably bullshit, but what do I know. We got the stereo because my car doesn't have an aux input... It's not that big a deal but definitely a bummer. I went to Solarcraft after reading the positive reviews on Yelp. Thank you. Got a stereo installed that I bought on EBay. They also tried to install a new antennae which I also bought on EBay. It didn't fit although everyone in the shop gave it a go. Wouldn't go all the way down so I ended up buying the whole kit from them. For under $200 everything is working perfectly again. So, emboldened, I took my wife's 4Runner in to get a hands free phone system installed. She loves to talk on the phone and although she says she uses the speaker on her IPhone she's a ticket waiting to happen. The technician, Rudy, was very personable. He showed my wife how to set it up and use it. She is a technophobe but she got it right away. She loves it and I just paid the same amount as it would cost for a ticket! But I wasn't done yet. I had just gotten my ride painted, the one with the new stereo, and it looked so good that I had to add the tint. For $190 they tinted all five windows - back, two rear and two front. Took about two hours and it looks perfect. The technician, didn't get his name, is a perfectionist. I got the limo black on the rear three windows and 30 percent shade on the front windows. Apparently it may be a little too dark for the law but it's perfect for me. It's the same tint as the owner, Dave's car and it looks great. I highly recommend Solarcraft. First of all I would like to state that, if you call in for a price quote and it was not to your liking- you should just keep shopping around instead of bashing a great & honest business such as SOLARCRAFT~ Residing in the Mid-Wilshire area, many installation/shops charge an arm & a leg. Especially if you do not purchase the products from them. lol At Solar Craft, not only was I given a reasonable price, but the service, quality of work & respect was out of this world. David has been doing audio work since 1975 & continues to put smiles on peoples faces with custom jobs and installs. Using a few online websites I noticed that my already purchased speakers would not fit my Honda~ Researching more, it seemed that I needed a custom install with dyna mat & sealing (Expensive Custom install). To my surprise, David's people just made a few snips of my speaker basket and oddly enough my speakers fit! Even while working on my car, they entertained my questions & told me they would check some parts out I was having some issues with. Which they happily did. I was never quoted a time, but I know that these things take a while so I wasn't in a hurry nor did I give them any problems about when they needed to finish. ( Which was perfectly on time for closing =D ) I am a firm believer in 'You Pay For What You Get' So if your looking for a cheap install & don't mind some mickey mouse job, go ahead and find someone on the corner. Took my 2013 Prius in for a CarPlay installation. I provided a cheap unit from Amazon(which is going back). The crew got to work and I left to do errands in Empire Center. After about an hour, I got a call from the shop saying that my provided unit was not working. After a brief discussion over the phone, we landed on a resolution. I finished up my business at Empire Center and popped back over to see how it was going. They gave me an update that they had figured out what was happening(apparently the factory JBL package is special) and that I could hang around or come back right before closing. I opted to go home and came back right before closing and they told me they were just finishing up a few quick things. I had a lovely chat with the owner while waiting for the crew to finish up. It all looks and works great! Everyone was very friendly and nice. Would definitely bring future cars here and would recommend it to people. Long story short, we went through four different units and the entire time the crew was lovely to work with. They did a great installation and I was very impressed with their professionalism. The installers left my car in clean, original condition and had the job finished on time. This review is for their customer service, not for the work they do. I used to work in Burbank and had them install a car alarm and an aftermarket satellite radio and stereo on my 2008 4runner. My car alarm remote was literally falling apart and I bought a replacement one elsewhere as I thought I'd be able to program it myself. I really only needed them to show me where the program switch was, but the person onsite (I believe his name was David) said it would be $25 for programming. The technician showed me where the switch was, and it literally took two seconds to activate the remote - and they still charged me $25. From a customer retention standpoint I think this was a terrible business practice, David said "it's the knowledge we have" - but $25 for two seconds? Shame on you Solarcraft. I can't honestly recommend people to you any longer based on this. read more

Ernesto came out to the property with a number of samples and explanations on the benefits and colors of all the brands. We were able to test out samples for a few days and after settling on one had Ernesto back to finish the job. For both appointments he was completely punctual, efficient with our time and incredibly pleasant to work with. What a night and day difference between the Solar Tint and the other company. To had my Audi tinted here over a year ago and liked the quality of their work so I brought my new Honda Pilot. I got a good price on ceramic tint for my front windows and they turned out great. Since they did car stereos to I asked about upgrading my stock speakers. They gave me different options at different price points which I appreciated. They installed the speakers and tinted my the windows in only a few hours and everything turned out great. Will be coming here again for my future tinting and car audio needs. read more

Be careful when calling these people! I was excited about having my windows tinted so I called this place. I was told that to have my 3 back windows tinted would be $140 - very reasonable. Then I asked how long it would take to have it done and was told 2 hrs. My reply was, "So if drop it off I can pick it up in 2 hrs?" The person (my guess was the owner as he had an Asian accent) said, "Yes." Then I asked when I could drop it off, to which he replied anytime. You would think with this line of questioning I covered the bases. Here's what happened when I got there: I was approached and the person told me the price was $145. I told him I was quoted $140. He said $140 + materials. So $5 for materials. All I could do was roll my eyes. $5 is not going to break me but is it REALLY that hard to just give the total price over the phone. I mean does anyone every come in with their own tint and say, "I just need the $140 labor"? Then I was told I had to leave the car till 6PM - I brought it in at 12.15PM. Again I relayed what was said over the phone to which their reply was, "It takes 2 hrs to do your car but we have another car to do." I left. I graciously and GENEROUSLY gave then 2 stars because they offered to lend me one of their cars. But that's not going to help if I have to pick up my 3 yr old and lug him back and forth.
