I had my Tile Roof replaced due to leaks and had to remove the panels from the roof. When the reroofing was completed, I called Solar Unlimited (since I originally bought the panels from them) to reinstall them on back on my roof. In my first contact with their sales guy, he was rude and quoted me a ridiculous price $3000 to have my 9 Fafco panels reinstalled back on the roof. He obviously didn't want to do it and I hung up. I struggled finding a company that would reinstall them, so I call Solar Unlimited back and spoke with Tammy. She was great and helpful. She got me a quote which was a third of the cost and more of what I expected. I signed the quote and after that, these guys put me through hell for over 2 months with; Excuses, stalling and not calling back, rescheduling multiple times, making me sign multiple contracts (changing them each time with things they were not going to do), sending a tech out a month later to look at the mounting brackets on the roof and coming back with all these ludicrous excuses and concerns. They didn't like the mounting brackets for the panels (which we used before and works fine for over 7 years) but they said they would still do the install. They wanted me to have my tiles removed from the roof and have their mounting system installed...OH HELL NO! They finally agreed to the existing brackets on my roof. These guys were doing nothing but stressing me out. Before New year's they said they were coming out the first or second week in January. I never hear back, and I finally called then in early this January (2 weeks ago) only to find out they were not going to install the panels and basically kicked me to the crib. This company is horrible to deal with and not trustworthy by any means. I would give these guys negative stars if I could.......... I found a Solar company in Simi Valley that did an amazing job and are honest. My panels are back on the roof and working fabulously. Please avoid these guys if you can...... read more

After an extremely bad experience with a roof replacement, I was in need of a pool solar system replacement. The other guys gave estimates based on Google map view, but Solar Unlimited had their guy out the next day to measure and give a quote. I got three quotes and Solar Unlimited had the best price. The installation was scheduled and done in short order. Tammy, in the office was pleasant to work with, as were Jose and Oscar, the technicians - super nice people! I had Jose come back to do a repair afterwards on some existing pipes. Once again, they wasted no time getting me taken care of. While doing the repair Jose recommended replacing some check valves in the equipment area. It was a great suggestion and something I had wanted to do but had put it on the back burner and forgotten. Now we have done an installation and two repairs. Each time they have been punctual, pleasant, professional and their workmanship satisfies my picky standards! We had a solar pool heater installed a few years ago, we have had numerous issues with the install and equipment. The customer service from this company is poor, the technicians are always late, and all they are concerned about is getting the service charge paid. There are a lot of companies that offer this great system to heat your pool, Solar Unlimited is just not one of them. Technician showed up 7 hours late with no ladder. ZERO STARS. SOLAR UNLIMITED IS WHACKY AND THEIR TECH LACKS BASIC KNOWLEDGE. Update 2/11: My regular tech showed up on time, first time. He easily manually navigated the auto valve that SU said was insurmountable. More validation of my detailed review below. I wouldn't drive the nail so deep were it not for their ruthless personal attack in response to this customer's legitimate complaints. Previous update: I was partly correct that a last service visit was more than a decade ago, and apparently five years ago, too. Apparently again I was driven to foul language while dealing with their service both previous times. Very validating of my current review and ratifying that Solar Unlimited and I shall never do business. PS. I graciously provided anonymity to "T." # START ORIGINAL REVIEW # here's the storyline... First appt sched mid Jan. Tech stepped up time, couldn't make it. Bummer. OK. Rescheduled 1st week Feb. This time he shows up on time. Then he IMMEDIATELY RUSHES THE CALL and goes very negative without stepping foot on the roof. He starts to tell me we are running out of time 2 min. into the call. I called "T" to complain. NEXT, HERE IS MY MAIN COMPLAINT: HE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO MANUALLY TURN ON MY JANDY ACTUATOR which he cited as his main time problem, but Jandy is the most prolific valve and MANUAL SHUT ON/OFF is in their manuals. Its not a hack, but SOLAR UNLIMITED IS. I told him to get up on the roof. I then went to complain about THEIR ONLY TECHNICIAN'S lack of knowledge. What did "T" do? Did she apologize again? Nope! Did she make up an excuse for why the tech missed that basic knowledge? Nope! "T" pulled the tech and TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT SERVICE MY ACCT! Hahaha! OK. She said "Why would you want a tech who doesn't know what he is doing?" Indeed, "T." But what was really insane, immature and possibly slanderous is she said they had notes on my account from past calls! I can't think of a time in the past 10 years I used anyone but my usual tech who wasn't available. FURTHER, "T" COULDN'T BACK UP HER BULLSHIT LIE when I pressed for what are those notes and from what dates? Avoid Solar Unlimited. They have a labor problem and an administration problem. read more

My wife and I had solar panels and a system installed by a separate company that no longer is in business. We soon realized that when our system was installed it i was not properly inspected to ensure it was performing optimally by the installing company. My wife and I were trying to work with our solar financing company, Enerbank, to try to have our problems resolved. Enerbank promised to assign us a 'relationship manager' that would help match us to a preferred solar service contractor. To say that process was a nightmare is an understatement. After 6 months of going back and forth with Enerbank trying to get some help and getting tired of Enerbank's empty promises/excuses we began looking to resolve our situation on our own. A close family friend recommended we should give Solar unlimited a shot. My wife called and spoke to Vanessa and informed her of our situation. Vanessa immediately communicated with us to begin getting the necessary information regarding our system. Together with Vanessa we contacted our system, Enphase, to troubleshoot our online access. We then scheduled a visit with a technician named Adrian. Vanessa informed us the cost of the visit up front and we set up a day/time. Adrian arrived on time and as promised. He was professional, patient and remained positive throughout our time together. Adrian quickly assessed the technical issues and assisted in getting our system up and running optimally. We had everything set up and my wife and I felt confident our system was taken care of. Do not use. They use the cheapest materials. Labor quality is very low. 0 responsibility for defects. Actual story. I'm getting constant leaks. I call them after their system flooded my patio. (Mind you I'm not asking for their insurance to fix the damage to the patio) They tell me some screws got loose and it something that happens. Same thing happens twice more. This time I tighten the crappy screws. Then I get a leak from a joint. This time Daniel the owner comes and his response is.... You are going to love it: Somebody else put these joints on THEIR system. Yeah, I hired someone to go and replace joints on their system that suppose to still be under warranty. Now another joint is leaking and when I hired another company to come and fix it they said that all the 90° elbows that were used had hard 90s which 1 are not per code and are the cheapest. They should have used a sweeping 90s. Save yourselves a headache and don't use these dishonorable guys. My system is now about 2 years old and is a complete waste of money. read more

We moved to into our house about a year ago. We've wanted to add a heater to the pool, since then. The unfortunate part, is that we couldn't decide if we should do a gas or solar heating system for the pool. After some research, we decided to have a number of companies come out and quote each. Gas heaters seem great, but have a large operational cost associated (gas bill), plus we had to run a gas line which added to it. We called Solar Unlimited and got Daniel. Daniel came out quickly, quoted the solar heating system for the pool, and gave us some good information. We didn't end up doing it then, and we waited the last 11 months or so. We started looking at this again, and brought a number of companies out. We called on Daniel again, he remembered us and requoted us, but with one extra panel than before, for the same price. We also needed a pool light moved, and some electrical work, so Daniel recommended the best pool electrician in LA. This guy was awesome and fair, and Daniel ran with the show to coordinate everything. The installers showed up, and knocked out 75% of he job in 4-5 hours. I was amazed actually. The guys were super hard workers (Daniel was there the whole first day). The trenching and concrete cutting was super clean, and installation of the panels on the roof couldn't be better. The workers timed everything with the electrician, and they worked great together. The next day at 7am a guy came poured and patched the concrete. The guys completed the system, and even waited for me to get home to go over the system. Our kids swim everyday, so this is huge for us. In just two days, we've already noticed temps 10+ degrees higher. If you own a pool, 73 to 86 is a huge difference in comfort. I was told to hold and I'd be put directly through to him. Same guy, (not Daniel) comes back and says "Daniel says to tell you that he is profusely sorry and that he won't be able to make it. Would you like to re-schedule?" I say, "Have you guys heard of Yelp" "Yes" he says. "Not going to go well for you", I say. I was referred by my pool guy to Solar Unlimited when I asked him who he would refer for solar for my pool. He said they were great and serviced the system annually to make sure the system would keep working properly. I used my pool all summer, the temp was perfect, easy to get in and enjoy and I not once used has to heat it up. It was awesome. Today I received a call to set up to get the system ready for winter. I have had my solar power panels for just over a year now through Solar Unlimited. I previously had solar pool panels with the company to heat the pool for many years, so going with them was a no-brainer. Daniel from Solar Unlimited came out and sized my energy needs plus reconfigured my pool panels with more efficient panels. They installed in 2 days and were very courteous and clean. I have had now one full year of ZERO electric consumption recorded with the electric company (GWP), plus have produced excess energy that become credits to cover the rainy days to boot, and am only paying GWP the standard electric service fee of $11/ month. I can also monitor my energy production via a mobile app. Even received the 30% Federal Tax Credit, whoo hoo! What can you not be happy about?! Time to add a Tesla! read more

First Daniel came up for solar pool heater estimates and he gave me good numbers and explain me other comparable brands as well. I also have an few other company came but none of them gave me same place but higher and less panels., Daniel got it install in same week as estimate, they install 8 of 4 x 12 panels for my 15 x 30 in ground pool and boy even in 1 day of 85 agree and i let my pump run for 8 hours and my pool water was already 82 degree and we had friends party on the same weekend that they install panels on Thursday. My roof is south facing and no any trees blocking. This panels works great so far and they gave me 12 yrs parts and labor warranty so can't go wrong with them and FAFCO panels are made in usa compare to other panels are made in other countries. i would rather buy Made in USA. read more

Daniel worked with the roofing company and coordinated the dismantling of my 14 year-old solar system and replacing it with a new system which includes a battery. He obtained the permit and waited patiently for the Beverly Hills inspector each step of the way until the project was signed off. Our production so far is meeting the projections and exceeding my expectations. It's still hard to believe that we have some level of energy security and independence, and will have internet, WiFi, a working Refrigerator, the security cameras and some lights around the house in case of a power failure! Completely dissatisfied with this company!!!!!! False information was given to us after we had our panels installed. I was told if I were to ever move out of the property the loan would be transferred! NOT TRUE. Now I am stuck with a 39K loan in which does no longer even belong to me. Now because of this my credit will be ruined since I cannot afford to pay that. I would give them 0 stars if I would. Solar Unlimited installed our solar panels for our pool more than 30 years ago, and we have been servicing with them since. Our panels are on a hillside. Embers from the most recent Woolsey fire destroyed all of our panels. Solar Unlimited was completely available to us for a complete replacement of 20 panels. TAMMY in the office secured a reasonable cost for us and scheduled service at our convenience. TAMMY was always available for every one of our phone calls. LUIS and OSCAR were on the job to change out the panels; both were extremely focused and conscientious in their work! Both were knowledgeable and offered us a beautiful result. We had a legacy solar pool heating system on the roof of both our main house and pool house and we needed to cap the plumbing so the workers could safely remove it when they replaced the roof. Tammy and Daniel are wonderful in responding to me, I appreciate it very much. However I'm very disappointed with their panels. It's been hot days around 95-105 degree but my pool water is still cold! Yes it's not as icy cold but still cold overall. I put my hand in front of the plumbing outlet in pool and feel the water came out isn't warm at all. I had other company pool heating for 12 years before and it was great and warm. In the hot days like these days I could always feel the hot water came out from the pipe outlet was very warm and the entire pool water was nice and warm before with the previous other company's solar system which was all gone after 12 years. They were good but very far away so I wanted to try someone local and Daniel was good and quick to respond so I chose them but with the Solar Unlimited, the pipe and water came out are both not warm and entire pool is still cold. Don't know what to do, just very disappointed. read more

I had 2 small leaks on the panels that just come with age. The repairman was knowledgeable and just plain kind. He made repairs in under 40 minutes. He and the sales manager understood my frustration and just listened. It's only fair to report this part of the experience. I wasn't asked to. But they stepped up, took responsibility, and made it up to me. To my mind, that's all you can ask for. His guys started the install on a Monday, it was completed on Wednesday, city inspected on Thursday, and I received permission to operate the next Monday. I spent thousands installing my solar pool heater and now I have a nightmare trying to get anyone out to do service. Also, it seems someone else has bought the company since my original purchase and I have been informed that my warranty is different from what it had been before. Also, my panels leak a lot, and they make me wait for at least 10 days before they will come out. Once, when they finally came, and the next day my panels were leaking, I called and they told me they would have someone swing by, no one showed up. I called and called and it was a week and a half before someone finally got back to me. They have the worst service ever. If there is a problem with your pool, you can expect to wait as much as two weeks to get it resolved, perhaps more, because if they don't fix it right the first time, they won't just come back and fix it again right away. You have to wait another 7-10 days for them to acknowledge you again. Also, I have not noticed that the panels actually increase the weeks that my pool is comfortable to swim in. This was a selling point for me, so I have been very disappointed. They work very well in the middle of the summer, but they don't actually increase the number of months that we can use the pool. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Maybe sour grapes that they were not awarded PV Panel system $36,000 Guest now that was a better discission. Time to call a different company that cares about servicing existing customers.
