I want to start by saying our installation was bumpy, which is why I think they deserve the 5 stars.  Why i went with AMECO:  I wanted someone with moderate prices that I could trust, someone that won't leave me hanging if something went wrong. I read enough horror stories online about 8 month projects or installers going bankrupt that I needed to make sure my installer will be in business when something goes wrong. Ameco seems to have a good reputation and has been around for 44 years. Plus, our sales agent Rudy was the most responsive and frank of the 6-7 i talked to. Some sales teams tried to strongarm us into a more expensive package with fear mongering or claims of knowing more about the industry. Other companies' (including one i was seriously considering) sales seemed to be sweeping details about the contract under the rug, which gave me a bad vibe. AMECO was not the cheapest, but below average. There were two things that shocked me though, but didn't end up impacting my installation: 1) AMECO is owned by NRG (one of the other companies we were considering, which DID have the lowest price but also some negative reviews) 2) AMECO doesn't actually use its own in house crew as suggested by sales in north bay, but uses contractors. I was a bit pissed about this when I found out since I was specifically looking for installers with in house teams, but the guys they brought in were consistent each time and did a decent job and communicated pretty well with headquarters so I gave them a pass. The installation process: We were assigned a project manager called Ivan. I have to say Ivan was stellar. Prompt in his communications, knew all the details, was on top of my questions before I even asked them, proactively provided updates, chased down issues for me on a moment's notice. He always picked up when I called, always texted back promptly. Every step of the process I felt informed, in control, and understood all the current issues we needed to chase down. Even though the installers weren't in house, he kept a tight leash. The installation itself was blazing fast. I had budgeted 3 months for the signing to installation at least, but they finished it in roughly two including permitting, engineering - maybe because it's not peak season? It was so fast I wasn't even mentally prepared when we cut over to solar power. The installers that came were knowledgeable, good workmanship, showed up a few hours before the inspection and physically walked through every component to ensure it was done right. Passed inspections the first time. I had no complaints. The followup issue: Our system shut down a week after it installed. Our power provider gave us permission to export energy, i turned on the feature in the device and it died. I was freaking out since I wasn't sure who to call or whether Ameco would still care since they'd technically finished the installation. Called Ivan who scheduled to have a tech come out in a couple hours (though it was later rescheduled to the next day). Turned out my system was faulty and had to be replaced by Tesla. Again Ivan communicated expectations clearly to me about how long it'll take for the part to arrive, when the team would come out to install it. Turned out his plan was pretty accurate (off by 1 day since the part didn't arrive on time) and I had a functional system 4 hours after Tesla delivered the replacement part. There was also a billing question I had (because I didn't read the invoice), which they responded pretty promptly and cleared my confusion in 4 hours. Overall, the service I received was great. Every step I knew exactly when the next milestone was, how it was going to be done and what I needed to do. I was never left hanging and I felt Ameco had done its best to ensure my system was installed the right way. Time will tell how the workmanship holds up, but so far so good. Aside from the original dissatisfaction about not having in house teams, there was nothing to complain about. I think if you get a project manager like Ivan on your installation, you'll be in good hands. read more

I'm currently in the middle of my solar installation process, and while I'm still glad I decided to go solar, the experience getting there has been frustrating. The biggest issue, by far, has been communication, specifically with Stan, who was my main point of contact. He was extremely unreliable and difficult to reach. Texts and calls weren't just delayed, they were ignored for weeks at a time. There was no consistency, no follow-through, and no real accountability. I was given the wrong inspection date, which caused us to miss it while out of town and forced a reschedule delaying the project even further. That mistake alone should have been avoidable. Even more frustrating, after telling me "everything is all set" and that I could reach out anytime, he completely disappeared. I've sent multiple messages about ongoing delays and got no response. At that point, it stops being a communication issue and becomes a breakdown in basic professionalism. The process has taken far longer than expected. I started in December, and as of April, I'm still waiting for everything to be fully cleared even though installation has already happened. I've had to call different numbers just to get basic updates on what's going on or what's missing, which shouldn't be necessary. That said, not everyone on the team has been an issue. Tony, who handled the installation, was excellent, responsive, professional, and quick to address problems when they came up. Jason Anderson was also great to work with during the initial phase and helped get things moving. Bottom line: I'm happy with the decision to go solar, but the communication and project management, especially from Stan, have made the process feel unnecessarily difficult. If those issues were fixed, this would have been a much smoother experience. read more

Great experience using Ameco. Everything was done very professionally, from talking to their Sales Consultant (Adar) with regards to the many questions like costs, materials, warranty and timing, to the project managers (like Stan B) about phases, permits, solar operationing instructions and lengthy delays (on my end - thanks to PGE's power line only 3"s below my driveway cement which was being replaced before roof project was starting) , to the workers getting work done with quality and efficiency. Roof - replacement took only 3 days , including gutters/downspouts. Solar - would have taken less than a few days, hadn't there been an issue with our electrical line location from main to sub panel (one of those unexpected unknowns). Solar install guys were great in that they made sure I was aware what equipment/line was going where and how is was going to be connected - we made a few small changes here and there and I really like the outcome. Powerwall / Solar has been running flawlessly since the hook up ... only downside to this project is my fam is mad at me for constantly showing them how much Kwh's they are using (large spikes when using the power wall app) :) Long live the sun! read more

Tigran was very helpful in getting my solar panels reconnected to my WiFi after we had to switch to a new WiFi company. Tigran tried very hard to help me reconnect the system over the phone but it's hard to do virtually. However, he was able to get a technician to come the same day! While the technician always costs $350 for a visit and I did have to pay the fee twice over the 1.5 years or so, the problem was fixed quickly. I give Tigran 5 stars for effort! read more

This is a review for post-install / post-PTO support. While I'm not happy the issue existed in the first place, the follow-up was fantastic. I emailed on a Thursday (early morning around 1:30am) with detailed comparisons between what my app was reporting and what the utility was reporting. Was able to get on a call with customer support that afternoon and by the next morning, they had a technician at my house. For context, my system was operational but reporting incorrectly. PTO was early February and this was mid-July when I figured out there was an issue. Chris was the technician that showed up the next day at around 11am. I showed him my comparisons, the live app and worked with him to turn off / on various loads in the house. He ran some diagnostics and eventually figured out that the CTs were installed incorrectly. He had to get on the phone with Enphase support a few times but eventually everyone figured out the issue. Since he left, reporting on the app is close enough to what the utility is reporting that we've been able to adjust our usage to cut our usage from $250 / mo. down to $18 / mo. Prior to our system going in, we were nearing $900 / mo. during the hottest summer months. So while we had some issues initially with Ameco and their subcontractors (communication, add-on fees after project start), ultimately the system was operational and their support really shines! I am submitting this review to document a billing issue with AmecoSolar regarding an invoice for services that I never authorized or received. I was charged for solar-related services despite having no active installation, maintenance agreement, or service appointment with this company. Upon receiving the invoice, I promptly contacted AmecoSolar to dispute the charge and requested clarification and supporting documentation demonstrating authorization for the services. This has caused unnecessary concern regarding billing accuracy and account integrity. Billing customers for services not rendered raises serious concerns about administrative oversight, account verification procedures, and consumer protection. I am requesting that AmecoSolar immediately remove the wrongful charge, confirm in writing that my account reflects a zero balance, and ensure no adverse reporting or collection activity occurs as a result of this error. I encourage the company to review its billing and verification processes to prevent similar issues from affecting other customers. read more

Ivan from Ameco was the person overseeing the project. He was very helpful on every aspect of the project. He was prompt in answering all of my questions and concerns. He was able to get my solars panels faster than I expected. He was easy to communicate with via phone call, text, and email. The rest of the staff at Ameco was so kind and helpful. The price of the panels were beyond reasonable. I interviewed 4 other companies and in the end they have the best reassurance. I recommend them to anyone who wants solar. I hired Ameco to replace my roof approximately three years ago, and I am now dealing with a significant leak that has caused interior mold damage. After I reported the issue, Field Supervisor Asaaf sent a subcontractor to inspect the roof, and the subcontractor confirmed that the leak originated from the original roofing work performed by Ameco. Despite this, Ameco has denied responsibility and refuses to correct the problem. I have made multiple attempts to resolve the matter, but the company continues to dismiss accountability, leaving me with costly water and mold repairs. Based on this experience, I would urge others to exercise caution when considering Ameco for roofing services. read more

Working with Ameco was among the contracting experiences I have ever had in my long life. The reason: catastrophically incompetent project management. Completely unresponsive customer communication - weeks without responses to my hails, no ability to set (much less hold) to schedule, missed appointments, configuration errors, fumbles with inspections... It was stressful and maddening. Context: We hired them in summer of 2025 because of their technical skill with booth roofing and solar systems, product warranty, and their guarantee of finishing the job before end of year. They finally got rolling with the roof in late November, installed the panels early December .. and then it took another FOUR MONTHS for them to get it connected correctly, complete the inspections, and FINISH THE ROOF, which was left in disarray for the entirety of winter. In the spirit of fairness, I will note some positives: (a) They eventually hired a new solar project manager, Stan Barantsvevich, who proved a ray in the dark in all this. Only one to lean in and help move things along - without his help I don't think the project would have ever finished. (b) Their roofing teams are skillful - and swift (c) The solar system, once it was set up properly, performs well (d) Ameco did honor its schedule guarantees So the price was right and the products solid - but the process ... was immiserating. 18 months since I sign the contract. over $25,000 paid. Nothing is done, NOTHING. Main panel still isn't upgraded, no panels installed, no panels to be seen. They have no idea what they're doing, the installer called me to confirm about the installation next day... which I have no materials at my place, he said it's common that he goes to the project site to learn the fact that there's nothing to be done but a wasted trip, which is why he called me first to double check. I have very good experience with AMECO installers and AMECO monitor, particularly Tigran. It is very easy to speak with Tigran. He listens patient and walked me through the system monitoring. The system does cost a lot. AMECO rep walked me thru the cost, help me link to the bank loan and assured me that the cost covered everything, included city permit and anything else related. I'm surprises that they sent me bills. First was over $300, then another one was over $700. I told them that I will not pay anything because all fee was paid as in agreement. To be clear, I did not use Ameco. I had asked for a solar quote from them which was the highest of all the quotes I received. The phone calls from them are now ENDLESS. I make it a point to never work with companies employing high pressure sales tactics, and two to five calls a day from them is extreme, and definitely high pressure. I answered once, three weeks ago and asked to be taken off the call list. That didn't work. So they may be a great solar company, but my experience with their sales team continues to be frustrating. Just know that if you don't take their offer, you'll be getting calls for months. read more

Ameco is our solar battery system installer and service company. For our project, they were contracted to us by Electrum through the SCE (Southern California Edison) solar web portal. SCE provides this portal and pre-vetted installers to assist homeowners looking for solar and battery backup systems. Ameco struggled to get approval for our system after install in April of 2025 due to the output of our system added to our existing solar. Ameco did not seem to know that our build would exceed the limits for our power purchase agreement in place at the time of application. We were ultimately forced to agree to a different power purchase agreement in order to receive permission to operate (PTO) from SCE in October of 2025. This was a significant change to the cost-effectiveness of the new system. Ameco did install the equipment very well but unfortunately, the Powerwall was defective and would not operate and so was warranty replaced by Ameco in November 2025. Since that time, our system has been working fine. Tigran, Melissa, Sossi, Dahay, and Morgan from Ameco were all very helpful to the extent of their individual responsibilities, but our particular build tested their teams' abilities. Ameco in our opinion does well with equipment and install but may not understand how to integrate new solar battery systems with homes having existing solar. There may have been other ways to design a battery backup system for our house that were less complicated that might have kept us in our NEM 1.0 power purchase agreement from 2017. We recommend homeowners looking to add solar or battery systems educate themselves as much as possible before taking to contractors. In our experience, the solar companies can not be counted on to have expert knowledge of components they sell nor will they truly understand all aspects of different power purchase agreements offered by large electrical utilities. read more

I chose Ameco over Sunrun because, unfortunately, what Sunrun quoted me didn't match the terms in the contract they asked me to sign. In contrast, Ameco was transparent, honest, and consistent from the beginning. One thing that really stood out was the longevity of their team. I was given a quote for a solar battery and was assured IN WRITING that the quote included everything for installation and there would be no hidden costs or I could cancel the contract. Then I got an amendment adding $1900 to the quoted price. I asked to cancel the contract and was met with silence from the management, only receiving requests for more payments. This is a classic bait-and-switch transaction. I intend to pursue legal action to recover the money already paid to this shady company. UPDATE: I had a long, civil conversation with a representative from the company this morning. I believe we have reached a resolution for which I am truly grateful to Ameco. I await confirmation of the resolution in writing and will further update this review. At this point I appreciate their professionalism in reaching a resolution to this matter. read more

Everything was perfect. They helped me design the system by listening to my needs. They were upfront and on time on everything. They warned me of possible unavoidable delays(such as county permits). When the government changed a lot of the solar rebate rules I thought my solar wouldn't happen but they were immediately in touch to explain how it could work. The installation was quick and very professional-they even matched my house paint to help hide the conduits. Our solar panels stopped generating today, and looking at the app it showed that the microinverters were not reporting in any more. I called Ameco and a very helpful tech named Tigran got right back to me via text and solved the problem within minutes. My original inverter died 38 months after it went into service, which wasn't great. But, remember that Ameco doesn't build those, so not their fault. The new unit took several weeks to arrive, but they got it installed the very next day...excellent customer service! The only bummer is that with the loss of the old inverter went all the solar production history - the Solar Edge app is great for tracking and comparing generation over time (days, months, years) so I had a nifty 3-year record to play with. Well, apparently that data's not stored within the app, but drawn from the inverter itself. That being said, the Ameco folks are looking into the possibility of recovering that data from the old unit, so keep your fingers crossed! Anyway, bottom line is that the Ameco team has been great and I'm grateful for their support and service! read more

His installers finished the whole job within a day which was faster than what I was expecting. Stan was good on keeping us updated on project progress and was readily available to address any query and concern we had during the process.
