Out of all the companies I contacted, San Diego Solar Install offered the best overall solar + battery package for the price. I initially reached out through their website and received a prompt response from Bruce, the owner. He's extremely personable, takes the time to answer every question, and genuinely addresses any concerns. He's one of the rare solar professionals who truly cares about his customers rather than just making a sale. Chad, Ian, and the rest of the installation team did a meticulous job installing both the solar panels and batteries, all within a tight timeline. The quality of their work really shows--see the attached photos for yourself. As I'm writing this at night, my home is running entirely off the Enphase batteries with zero power being pulled from the grid, which really highlights how well the system is performing. The other Yelp reviews definitely don't lie!

He knows his stuff and even used to teach college courses on solar back in the day. Another company had a rep come over and she didn't know jack about solar - she was mainly a realtor doing it as another income source. He gave both of us a great feeling and was competitively priced. We liked that he keeps things simple and just installs the best, didn't try to upsell us when he could've, and wasn't "salesy" or high-pressure. Glad we hired him. We've had the solar for months and still happy.

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

TIMELY- Uriel called 30 min before his arrival and then, arrived at the stated time. This is particularly helpful so I can move my bunny to another room with all of his belongings. ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I saw him place a protective cloth down on the floor before he placed the ladder and tools down. I also noticed there was a bottle of cleaner with his supplies. He cleaned the inside vents as well as the compressor on the roof. He also tied off a loose wire/when checking the air handler in the ceiling. KNOWLEDGEABLE and THROROUGH - Uriel did a complete system check and then, he sat down with me to explain what was done and why. He addressed the concerns I had about some of the prior readings in terms that I could understand and shared tips that will help ensure my system runs at its most efficient. Example: A higher MERV doesn't always mean "better" and can actually restrict the airflow. He said that for my particular system I should use a MERV10 filter and change it every 3 months. He changed my filters and then, left me with two spares to use before the fall check comes. FRIENDLY - In the course of chatting with Uriel, it came up that I might benefit from having more filtered air coming into my condo. He made a recommendation for a part that would replace the standalone room air purifier I currently use. He placed this info into the after-visit summary so I can "research it and see if it fits with my needs and finances." There was zero pressure to make a purchase on the spot. And while this next item has nothing to do with the knowledge or ability of an HVAC tech, I greatly appreciate that he did NOT smell like cigarette / e-cigarette smoke or strong cologne as I have a bunny and people in my family have asthma. Thank you, Uriel, for a job well done.

Whether it's routine maintenance or a bigger repair, they always deliver excellent results that I can count on. Recently, when our AC unit started acting up during a heat wave, Sam was the technician who came out. From the moment he arrived, Sam impressed me with his friendly, respectful attitude and clear communication. He took the time to thoroughly diagnose the issue, explained everything in straightforward terms so I understood what was happening, and walked me through the recommended repairs without any upselling pressure. His work was meticulous and efficient--he got our system running perfectly again quickly, and even offered helpful tips on how to maintain it better going forward to avoid future problems. What stands out most is how well this entire team, including Sam, treats customers. They've always been courteous and caring with me and my family, making us feel valued rather than just another service call. Sam truly embodies the company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to anyone--especially if Sam is available! Not to mention he had the best pricing and deal out of every other company! Gabe made us feel comfortable with our decision, gave us all the information we wanted, and actually drove out to our house multiple times to chat when we had additional questions and concerns. Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. The crew arrived on time every day, kept the worksite clean (they did a full cleanup at the end of each day), and treated my property with respect throughout the project. The quality of the installation itself was top-notch--exactly what you want when you're investing in something as critical as your roof. A special callout to Dylon, the project manager. His communication was exceptional--clear, proactive, and consistent. He stayed directly involved throughout the job, which made a big difference in ensuring everything went smoothly. It's rare to see that level of hands-on management. They also handled the solar panel dismount and reinstall flawlessly, which is not a trivial task. Even though I'm now upgrading my system due to the NEM 3.0 transition, their work made that process seamless. Post-installation support has been just as impressive. They've continued to be responsive and helpful, especially coordinating around my new solar project--something many companies tend to disappear on after the job is done. Pricing was very reasonable for the level of quality and service provided. And as a bonus--no nonsense on the job site. Unlike some other crews I've seen in the neighborhood, these guys were professional the entire time. Bottom line: excellent workmanship, strong communication, fair pricing, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do. Highly recommended.

So I developed a roof leak at our home and the existing roof was at least 25 years old so it was now time for roof replacement! I did my research and contacted the owner Troy whom was very thorough and informative during our conversation and he answered all of my concerns. The next step was to have my roof inspected, address any concerns and formulate an estimated cost for recommended repair. The estimator Dylon spent nearly 45 minutes performing a complete and thorough inspection. I have solar panels and gas lines mounted on our roof which complicated the roof replacement process. Good news is San Diego County Roofing (SDCR) partners with a great solar company and therefore de-activating the solar system, solar panel(s) removal, replacement and re-activation of the solar system is all taken care of through SDCR. Also SDCR warranties all work provided by their partnering solar company. I chose SDCR to replace my roof and what a great decision it was. I was updated and kept informed through each and every step of of the roof replacement process. I had some wood issues (rotting, worn out etc...) and the cost for the wood replacement was very reasonable. Tarps were laid out to cover our pool and artificial turf and after each day the residence was thoroughly cleaned of debris. Edgar the supervisor was always available whenever I had any questions or concerns. Also Dylon was always "Keeping tabs" with the progress and kept me informed of any issues and offered options when applicable. I felt very comfortable knowing that Dylon was always "on top" of things! Upon completion of the job, Juan invited me to view the new roof replacement and informed me of all that had been done and answered all of my questions and concerns. He even explained that my flat roof section of the garage had 2 sheets of "roofing" (know as "torch down") installed as compared to 1 sheet of roofing which most roofing companies provide, something I wouldn't have known. Everything was great and I was extremely satisfied EXCEPT one big problem! Apparently during the process of replacing my roof, a section of my newly installed artificial turf in the front of my house became damaged. I contacted Troy to discuss this big concern not knowing what to expect. After our discussion he instructed me to have the turf replaced and that I would be reimbursed for any and all cost. I had the artificial turf replaced at a cost of $2,200 and true to his word troy had a company check in the amount of $2,200 sent to my house within (1) week. So rest assured SDCR will give you phenomenal service. The company is professional, honest and transparent every step of the way from start to completion. This company has proved should something go wrong, they will make it "right". I highly recommend SDCR and I'm so glad I made the right choice! You should make the right choice too!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!…read more This was the worst experience I've had with a solar service company. I contacted them because my SolarEdge system stopped working. Before scheduling service, I provided the inverter error code, which indicated that the inverter likely needed repair. However, they told me the issue was not the inverter but an arc fault. Since I'm not a solar technician, I trusted their diagnosis. They inspected my system for $299 and then quoted me $3,500 to repair the issues they identified. After completing the work, the problem was not fixed. It wasn't until their second visit that they finally contacted SolarEdge technical support--a step that, in my opinion, should have been done during the initial diagnosis. SolarEdge then confirmed that the actual problem was a failed inverter and two faulty optimizers, all of which were still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. The technician told me they would send a new quote to install the warranty replacement (RMA) parts. When I received it, they wanted to charge me an additional $4,300 just for the labor to install the warranty-covered inverter and optimizers. That would have brought my total out-of-pocket cost to $7,800, even though the parts themselves were under warranty. I attempted to contact the company several times to discuss both the original $3,500 charge--which did not resolve the problem--and the new $4,300 quote totally the $7,800. Unfortunately, my calls have gone unanswered, and I have not received a response. Because of this experience, I decided not to move forward with them. I found another reputable company with excellent reviews that is completing the same warranty replacement for $1,200 in labor. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I encourage anyone considering their services to get a second opinion and compare labor quotes before authorizing expensive repairs.
