We called Semper Solaris to service our Goodman heat pump. We had no idea Semper did HVAC until researching Goodman service businesses. We called Semper late Tuesday and were able to schedule for 7/30, which was great. Our technician, Danny, was very polite and efficient. He took care of the service and recommended a worn part be replaced, which he was able to do. Who wants their a/c to go out with the heat we are having. He checked everything, including the temperature of the air coming into the house. We would recommend Semper Solaris and Danny for Goodman servicing to anyone. I think most people only know Semper for solar and roofing, but they also do HVAC and now efficient home windows. read more

I am a Veteran and I regret choosing Semper Solaris. Long story short, if you are a potential customer, you are a high priority for this company. Once you spend the money and you are a past customer, YOU ARE A VERY LOW PRIORITY. That is my experience, repeatedly, with Semper Solaris. In my case, after a very attentive and responsive SALES process, and then spending in the tens of thousands on an expansive new roof, solar and unique Tesla Wall system, this company went from responsive to almost non-existent. The call center has a long hold time, before you are connected to someone who does not even work for Semper and cannot answer any questions. I was then told to expect a call back within 7 days. More detail: My first call was to ask about a potential roof leak during a storm. I was told someone would call me back within 7 days. Who waits seven days to address a leaking rook??? Anyway, it took longer than 7 days, and then they wanted to charge a fee to just come take look. My next call was in regards to power outages, and to ask questions about my system. Again, I was told to expect a call within 7 days. Today is day 8. Don't take my word for it. My advice is to test their customer service line BEFORE YOU BUY. I bet you go elsewhere. read more

SHOCKER: Bad review led to immediate service. Semper quickly turned things around after my initial 2 star review. I've updated them to a 4 star review. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star is because it took a review to get action; I wish calling customer service and sending 6 e-mails over the course of 2-years was good enough. To re-iterate, if you don't need financing, hiring your own crews will save you LOTS OF MONEY $$$. However; if you can't afford the install all at once, Semper should be highly considered. The same crews work for all the big companies. So where quality is an almost perfect substitute commodity in this business, Semper at least offers the best deals. I kept putting off thinking about having to replace my shingle roof. As it turned out, the process went quite smoothly and I should have addressed the problem long before the leaks appeared. I went with Semper Solaris because I have solar panels that needed to be taken down and reinstalled after the new roof was installed. I didn't want to try to coordinate the procedure between two different contractors. Jonathan was the sales representative and did an excellent job presenting the company's product. He explained the background of the company, the process they used for installing the roof and options available to me. I trusted him. Special thanks go to the project manager, Christian Jimenez. Christian introduced himself to me at the beginning of the job and kept me informed what was planned for the day and briefed me of the progress every day before he left. He and his crew did an excellent job ensuring the grounds were clean every day before leaving- not an easy job with my landscaping. Also, the swimming pool was covered and no debris was found in the water. Here were a few times that I had to make a decision and I wasn't sure which would be the best approach to use. Christian explain the problem so I could understand it, made a good recommendation and I agreed with him. He was easy to communicate with. My latest experience is that after 5 years with this company, I find out that the App for Solaredge monitoring that Semper Solaris had me install on my phone after they installed my system, suddenly stopped showing anything on the app as far as how my system is working. I contacted or I thought I contacted Semper Solaris and it turns out they use an answering service and the people who I talk to have no clue to any questions I asked. So they take my information down and after waiting several days I finally get a call from Tech Support and come to find out, the App expires and stops working after 5 years, after the 5 years I either have to pay Solaredge $44.99 for 1 year of monitoring, or have Semper Solaris come to my house several weeks later to install a modem for a fee of $300. My thoughts are, why if I spent all this money to have the system installed didn't Semper Solaris install the modem in the first place? And why should I have to pay $44.99 for 1 year of monitoring or $300 to Semper Solaris for a modem that should have been installed in the first place when they installed my system. This is unacceptable and they do not treat our Veterans with Dignity and Respect as stated in their advertising. I am a Marine Veteran of 20 years and I chose Semper Solaris for the statements they make in their Commercials. I was sadly mistaken. Nobody told me or advised me that after 5 years the monitoring app will no longer work unless you pay more money to these two companies for something that should have been included when I spent Thousands for a solar system and battery that I regret getting through Semper Solaris. Their customer service has no knowledge about the systems and the Technical Support takes way to long to actually contact you. I would never recommend Semper Solaris. They are veteran owned but they hire sub- contractors who don't know what they're doing. Damaged the roof so badly there were leaks and major damage to my house. They didn't assist in getting things fixed. I had to deal with subcontractors insurance. Semper Solaris is a great company to work with, just want to say that we've had such a great rep to work with her name is Genivive, she is a very welcoming person and not pushy when selling you solar panels, we ended up buying with Semper after meeting with many many other representatives from other company's, Genivive was the only one that would answer all the questions we had and would talk to us until we understood the process of the panels and what we needed for our home to power on what we were trying to achieve, we purchased our panels and Genivive did a play by play with installation and when there was a delay or problem Genivive was there, once the solar panels were put in place it was great that we had really cut on our electric bill. We paid over 50k for a roof and panels form S.S. in 2022. When the sales people come to meet with you at your house, it's all unicorns and rainbows; they service everything in house, everything is covered under warranty, blah, blah, blah. Every time something has gone wrong with the roof or panels, we get the runaround on repairs. Currently, the Enphase panel isn't connecting to tot he internet, so we have no idea if our panels are working. We followed all directions to try to reset it, and nothing worked. When I called to speak to someone about getting it fixed, the phone connected to a line with a busy signal multiple times. You know what line I could reach someone at?? SALES! Once I was finally connected to a customer service rep, she asked a bunch of questions, and offered me a virtual appointment with a service tech. VIRTUAL. And this virtual appointment won't be available for a week, and the latest time available is NOON! Oh, and if I want someone to come out in person, if whatever is wrong is not covered, it'll cost me 295$. Excuse me?!I paid over 50k for this roof and system to NOT be nickeled a dimed when your products fail. Oh, and because I want someone to come out, I have to wait up to a week for someone to even contact me to make an appointment. So I contact Tech Support again and now I am being told it is going to be 5-7 days for somebody to call me to schedule an appointment so they can have a Technician come to my house to look and figure out what the problem is, and that may take another 5-7 days. I must say that Semper Solaris only takes care of you when you are looking to purchase their system, but once you spend Thousands of Dollars for their system they put you as a Low Priority for any technical service you may require. As a Marine Veteran and former Leader of Marines, I will be looking out for my younger Marines who may be looking to purchase Solar, to look elsewhere. Not sure of whether to add a battery or install more panels? Want a clear answer that isn't pushy or entrapping? Look no further than Genevieve Johnson at Semper Solaris. Genevieve convinced us to opt out of our battery contract with Baker electric, but she went much further than that. She drew out exactly how much our current system was producing and showed us not only that getting a battery would not be worth it, but we would have defaulted on the contract and had to pay back the incentives given to us within three months of our battery installation. She went further to explain to us that a battery isn't what we needed, it was more solar panels due to all the nickel and diming that SDG&E charged over the years. Genevieve was awesome from start to finish. She taught us about non export systems and how they can be added to your current system without going into NEM3 status. Needless to say, she saved us and sold us on the same day. Working with Semper Solaris from start to finish was an amazing and truly educational experience. Installation went super smooth. SDG&E dragged its feet with the PTO, but that sounds like it was standard practice. Everything was efficient, transparent, and timely from our point of view, and we would not hesitate to give our highest recommendation to Genevieve Johnson and Semper Solaris whether it is for battery installation, non export systems,or first time solar customers. My Dad always used to tell me, you should judge a company by how they treat you after you pay them. Well learned my lesson, had a minor issue less than a year later and they absolutely treated me horribly. I was going to go up on roof and paint, wife said just call Semper Solaris it's been less than a year. So 2-3 weeks later, I have been told it is not covered is act of god, was told it is a vendor issue who sold the vent, was threatened with a $299 fee for them to come out and if they determined not their fault. The vent came unpainted, they painted it. I give up, they win. Avoid this company at all costs, if they treated a disabled vet like this over a $10 repair, I can't imagine how they will treat customers over a actual roof issue. We wanted to take advantage of the expiring solar tax credits in 2025 so we contacted Semper Solaris for an estimate around July 2025. Rhami Hasenin, Senior Energy and Roof Consultant, came to our house in Del Cerro and we discussed our "wish list" with him. At that time, we had 21 solar panels and we were looking to add exterior Power Wall battery units so we could divert our excess solar generated power to the battery unit to help optimize our solar power usage throughout the day/night. Once Rhami looked at our SDG&E bill, he noticed that we were very early solar power adopters and were on the NEM 1 program. Rhami explained we could not divert our excess power to Power Wall batteries but he offered a solution to add an additional 12 solar panels to our roof which will generate sufficient solar energy to offset our normal electricity usage (sadly it does not eliminate SDG&E's "delivery charge" which is another sore subject). Rhami also looked at our aged roof which had a leak where our existing solar panels were and we decided to replace about 70% of our roof (it was time!). We truly appreciated Rhami's knowledge and expertise and he answered every question we had. A huge THANK YOU to Rhami! I've read other Yelp reviews and I do agree with many of the other customers. A huge shout out to Christian Jimenez who was our Roofing Field Superintendent. He is a roofing expert and was simply wonderful to work with and is very customer focused. I also agree with the 1 star comments about follow up customer service issues. Semper Solaris would benefit from having one project manager overseeing the total project from end-to-end so we as customers would have a single point of contact regarding status updates and follow up. When I called the customer service number, it did take quite a few days for them to call me back and the person on the phone had to get up to speed with my project. In the end, the customer service person on the phone did not seem to have my signed contract handy and literally could not answer my question about when my electrical panel would be upgraded as per the contract. So I am still waiting for them to complete my project. I feel these issues are Semper Solaris issues to resolve but I wanted to highlight the excellent work of Rhami Hasenin and Christian Jimenez in my review. read more

My Husband and I decided to purchase our solar package from Semper Solaris with the understanding that Customer service would be available if we needed help. While going thru the process with obtaining permits I had to call customer service because our inspection failed and we had to have them come out to fix the issue and reschedule with in a short window of time. Well the customer service is a joke they have you call an answering service and leave a message where you never receive a return call. During that time I hade to call Alberto the young man that I purchased the solar from and get him involved finally I received my new inspection date. Thursday almost one week from today I called customer service again because our power went out in the kitchen I called leaving multiple messages daily it is one week later and we still have not received a service call. We had someone come out to reset out breaker because waiting on the answering service to pass the call along and having someone return our call is like pulling teeth. The service totally sucks. I spoke to a young man on Monday and received an email advising me that they will schedule a service call and I will have to pay a $299 service charge if it is not covered we have only had our service a few months. I am not understanding this the company was quick to get our business and after that check cleared I feel like its figure it out! A year later my bill is the same and the reason I am posting is because now that they have my money, I cannot get anyone at Semper to explain why I am only seeing a credit of $3.22 a month from SDGE. No time to read a novel? Simple, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. To get you to sign a contract, they will communicate great. But they will lie if needed. Once you've paid them, they will ignore emails, phone calls and simply refuse to communicate with you. They will not live up to the promises they made. I initially installed Solar with Semper in 2016. 36 panels. I worked with David, their salesperson. Everything went great. No complaints. Last year, I noticed my system was not producing at all. Eventually they figured out the issue, but I had gone a month without producing anything which made my true up bill a lot more than I was anticipating. They started sending me emails about expanding my solar production without changing my net metering agreement (I signed up under NEM 1). The emails talked about signing up before a loophole was closed. I contacted David, my original salesperson about this. I had maintained a good relationship with him because over the years I had referred several different people to the company, because up until this point, I was very happy with their services. He scheduled a consultation to go over how this new system would work. He explained it like this: 1) Your current system is allowed to send back a 11 kWh to the grid. But most of the time, the system is NOT going to be producing this much. 2) They install a second system that gets information from my current system. And it will produce and export to the grid as long as the total export isn't over what the original system was setup to export. Should the total export ever reach the 11kWh limit, it would be scaled down to not go over that limit. 3) They call it a non export system even though it was exporting, it just wasn't exporting over the current allowed limit for me. This sounded a bit strange, but given they were advertising a "loophole" that SDGE was going to "close very soon", I suppose it was something I should pounce on. I read through the contract, questioned him again after an official bid was sent to me, and he confirmed the same story he told me originally. I told him I'd like to add even more panels because I would rather produce too much solar, than not enough. He agreed this was a good idea, and I signed the updated contract. The process took about 12 weeks and finished in November 2024. During the install, the installer mentioned that this was a LOT of panels to have for a non export system. I told him what David had told me and he suddenly got very quiet. He said, I don't want to contradict what your sales person said, but that's not the way he understood the system to work. I got worried and immediately contacted David. No response. Email after email was ignored. I opened a help ticket and told them the story. They said David would get in touch with me. After a week I asked again and finally David called me back. I asked him why he was ignoring me and said he didn't see my messages. Mind you, over 8 years, this guy would ALWAYS respond to my sales questions, referrals within minutes. He ended up calling me back and I had the conversation recorded. Mind you, none of what he said on the phone was legally binding, but he again confirmed exactly what he told me before. This new system can export as long as you don't exceed the original limit. I went outside and began testing. I turned off my original solar system and checked my meter. As David said, the system was exporting. Relieved, I thought this was the end of it. January 2025 and I get an email from SDGE saying they could not give me permission to operate because they were waiting on some paper work from Semper Solaris. That's weird, since my system has been producing for over 2 months now. I call Semper and they tell me I need to pay $200 to file some permits with SDGE. I said I was not paying that, it was not in my contract. They agreed to waive the fee. A few weeks later I got another email from SDGE saying I had permission to operate. February 2025, I noticed my new system was not producing as much as it was before (compared to my original system). I checked the Enphase app and noticed that after I was given PTO, my system would produce but only what my household used. Meaning it would not export at ALL. I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB but it was shut down after I mentioned that I had recorded a phone call. They used that as an excuse to close the case. Bottom line is that I did sign a contract that said non-export, but I was repeatedly lied to and given bad information in order to get me to sign the contract and then even after. I am 100% sure David did NOT understand how the system was supposed to work when he sold it to me, and once this train wreck of a company realized they installed it wrong, they switched it to be a true non export system and feigned ignorance. DO NOT TRUST A WORD THEY SAY! read more

So far, my experience has been amazing. I've been working with Mark Ivory. He met with my husband for the initial proposal, but I wasn't available. He came out for a second, in depth conversation about our solar needs. As part of the conversation, he shared the additional capabilities offered and subsequently provided detailed quotes per my request. He has been patient, respectful, and easy to work with. My wife and I wanted to add a second Tesla battery to our solar system. Sandy Peisner was our rep and he was upfront, answered all our questions, and provided guidance about the incompatibility of the newer batteries with our Series 2 battery and how that could affect future battery additions as there are very few Series 2 batteries available due to stoppage of production. We decided to move forward and were thankful to the great service Sandy and the install team provided. read more

They didn't give me enough solar panels and should have told me about batteries I now pay more money and wish I never got Solar

I've had solar for the last 15 years (leased through a national provider). It was very challenging to speak with a real person, with my last provider...not so with Semper Solaris. From the salesperson to the installers to follow ups with customer service, Semper Solaris hit the mark! Their pricing was very competitive...in fact they matched the bid that I got from my former provider, to purchase a new system (when my old lease had expired). The difference between my old provider and Semper Solaris that matters the most to me (since the price was the same) was customer service. It was clear to me that they were concerned for my satisfaction with the system and the installation. Also, they were very flexible and responsive with scheduling. Within 3 days of me notifying them that my old system had been removed they were able to schedule installation of my new system. I had a new solar system and an additional powerwall battery installed. read more

Semper Solaris installed my solar battery 2 years or so ago. Initially, everything was fine and seemed to be working correctly. I am currently understanding that I really didn't need the battery as I am on NEM1.0 and Standard DR. The Semper Solaris sales person was deceptive and sold me on the battery even though I really do not need it, and it isn't helpful in staving off SDGE. Also, I asked them to back up my fridge when they installed the battery. When the power went out I quickly realized my fridge was off and not being backed up by my battery...i called them to make it right and they send a technician...He did some work but the problem was never actually resolved. I gave up on them fixing this issue. So they installed a battery I actually don't benefit from...with a 3G cell kit that was an extra cost that died in 2022 and they couldn't even wire the battery right so my food doesn't spoil in the fridge if and when the power goes out...Total waste! In regard to my most current problems....They installed a 3G cell kit for monitoring at an additional cost to me without asking if I would just like the ethernet cable option. In 2022, the 3G cell kit was no longer viable. Recently, I began my attempt to get my monitoring up and running. Semper Solaris referred me to their associates at Energy Aid to fix my issue (see below). After Energy Aid failed horrendously, I called Semper back to get help, and they were initially responsive but didnt actually send anyone to help. In the past 3 months, I have called multiple times, sent multiple emails, and left multiple voice messages with Semper Solaris. This company seems to be out of business as they no longer answer their phones (3rd party answering service only) or respond in any fashion. I am truly disappointed in them at this point for a variety of reasons. They should be avoided and are not reputable!!!! They do not care about their customers at ALL! I will be filing formal complaints with BBB! (Review of EnergyAid who Semper referred me to for help) This company is simply terrible. They should not be trusted with even the most simple task. I was referred to them by Semper Solaris to help me get my solar monitoring up and running as Semper wasn't interested in helping me. I was charged 500 dollars for them to send a tech to assess why my monitoring was not working and to clean my solar panels. The tech they sent drilled a haphazard hole into my inverter without asking me as a remedy to plug my ethernet cable back in. This was supposed to get my monitoring going again...it did not work. The manager, Zach Leffel, told me that since I signed the waiver with the tech, they were not liable for the damage caused by their inept employee. He refused to refund me any money or send somebody to fix the initial issue and the one his employee created. Zach refused to communicate with me further to complete the work and make things right....DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! read more
