Total SCAM!! $1800 to replace a micro inverter that we got under warranty from enphase and they left the system not working!!

My solar company went bankrupt due to the ending of solar subsidies, changes to net metering, and increased tariffs. I needed someone to replace a breaker, figure out why it tripped, and be able to maintain my solar system and Tesla batteries and gateways. I tried EnergyAid (even though their spamming of calls and messages by multiple people should have warned me off), and I regret it. The $299 evaluation of my system was fine except that I thought it also included the Tesla gateways and batteries, but it did not. They convinced me to get a membership plan for monitoring ($99 down + $9/mo), which I insisted needed to include Tesla. I thought he'd said they'd monitor and maintain it, but his evasiveness was legendary. Anyway, after $1500 to change a breaker (I bought the breaker, so this is just for them to come out & work for 20 minutes) and learning that they don't do anything for the Tesla side of our system, I canceled my membership and will try out Baker Energy. 90% of our problems have been with the Tesla batteries and their gateways. Baker has a larger upfront cost for inspecting the system, but they know their stuff and work on Tesla systems all the time. Their visits to maintain and fix your system are about 1/2 of EnergyAid--still very expensive, but I think they are of much better quality. I'm sad about the money I wasted at EnergyAid, but hopeful Baker will work out. read more

This company is simply terrible. They should not be trusted with even the most simple task. I was referred to them by Semper Solaris to help me get my solar monitoring up and running as Semper wasn't interested in helping me. I was charged 500 dollars for them to send a tech to assess why my monitoring was not working and to clean my solar panels. The tech they sent drilled a haphazard hole into my inverter without asking me as a remedy to plug my ethernet cable back in. This was supposed to get my monitoring going again...it did not work. The manager Zach Leffel told me since I signed the waiver with the tech they were not liable for the damage caused by their inept employee. He refused to refund me any money or send somebody to fix the initial issue and the one his employee created. Zach refused to communicate with me further to complete the work and make things right....DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

These guys are horrible, they inspected my Solar and diagnosed the problem as a fault or short on the roof. Then after I let them do an inspection for $300, they came back with a quote of $7000 to fix a wire problem on the roof. Independent of this took them 15 minutes are all day. $7000 to basically likely connect two wires together that shorted out in the rain. Do not use this company. read more

EnergyAid's recent service call was not worth even one star. They had previously done a very good job replacing an LG battery under warranty for my solar system, which is why I called them. I recently had a short due to a nail puncture in the cable that comes from the solar system backup circuit powered by the battery when the grid power goes down. I had an electrician repair the cable, however, the solar system would still not power up this circuit. I called EnergyAid explaining exactly what the problem was and requested a technician to do troubleshooting and repair. Even though the technician who came said he is a qualified repair technician, he said he was not authorized to do any repairs, only an inspection and do a report for the $299 charge. He did assured me at the start that his inspection would determine what the failure was and this did not happen. This EnergyAid tech appeared to be very inexperienced and his "inspection" consisted mostly of his wandering around for over an hour opening up solar system electrical boxes and taking photos of the equipment - no attempt at determining what was causing my problem. Before leaving, the technician speculated that fuses in the Inverter box may have blown, which he had not tested when he had this box open, and that EnergyAid would arrange for a more experienced technician to come out and do the repair job I had requested to be done in the first place. With no confidence in EnergyAid fixing my system at a reasonable cost, I called another solar repair company (Jamar Power Systems) who sent out a technician the next day and within ten minutes of his starting to troubleshoot, found the problem to be a tripped circuit beaker in the Inverter box (a box the EnergyAid tech had opened and photographed but did nothing else), and quickly restored my solar backup circuit operation. I will not be using EnergyAid in the future and cannot recommend them. read more

Brandt Jespersen came out and did the inspection. Sure, the inspection was $299, and who wants to spend that for an inspection. But Brandt did his part. He was on my roof inspecting every solar panel. He took apart the inverter and breathed in some unknown dust particles from a blown out mechanical piece inside the inverter. He took pictures of everything and those pictures were clearly provided and marked in the follow up report that was completed on the same day. No complaints from this company. Brandt also noted how the inverted needed to be replaced; covered under preexisting warranty. I have no problems with EnergyAid, as some of the below comments seem to have. They came out next day after calling them. The reason I went with them was because SunPower went out of business, and it took months to figure out which service providers I can use to service the panels. SunPower deserves -stars. EnergyAid is right in my book. read more

I have Solar Edge solar system that is about 9 years old. Many of the solar installers have gone out of business. Solar Edge had me call EnergyAid. I got results right away. I have read most of the comments that have been posted. I did not have any complaints about this company. Everyone was polit, informative and was on schedule. I have been looking for help with my solar system for a while and everyone wants money to diagnose your solar system. It very sad when you buy a solar system with a warranty and then they go out of business. I needed an upgrade and I'm so glad I did it With EnergyAid. read more

Energy Aid was professional, prompt, and completed the service in a timely manner. We had a solar panel go out and it took months for our solar company (Momentum) to respond to our request to repair it. Rather than repairing it themselves, they referred out to Energy Aid and we had the panel repaired within a week of our initial contact that they initiated. We are so grateful for their work! read more

Be careful with EnergyAid. The are expensive compared to other solar companies, they are after your money as top priority and service is last. This company charged me $299 to come and make a diagnosis. Then they made me sign another contract for $1450 for more diagnosis which is after applying a discount of $299 from the 1st visit. And they said that if they find that the inverter is bad and under warranty, they will get me a warranty replacement for the inverter from the manufacturer which will cost another $1200 for installation. I signed the 2nd trouble shooting contract and lucky me, they left me waiting twice, so I decided to look for another company. I end up throwing away $299 for the 1st diagnosis with EnergyAid. I got trouble shooting done again by another company with no upfront cost and the inverter replaced under warranty all for less than the 2nd trouble shooting fees from EnergyAid. Something didn't feel right when EnergyAid made me sign long contracts for a costly diagnosis which takes less than an hour. I'm willing to pay know how but this is beyond reasonable. Bottom line is, stay away from EnergyAid. read more

This company is a total scam!! I reached out to them because my SolarEdge inverter stopped communicating a couple years ago because the termination of 3G. I was told that it can be fixed and agreed to them comping to my home for $399, which did include the cleaning of my panels. Anyways, a very rude guy showed up and didn't fix anything. Then a week later a sales person ( Brandt Jespersen ) called me and tried to sell me a new inverter for 10k, even though there is nothing wrong with it and still under warranty! Then I told him I only wanted my inverter to be able to be connected to the internet so I get the system updates and I can once again see what my system is doing etc. He then tried to sell me a 5k change out of the 3 G cell component!! Come on....really?? So, I did some research myself and in less then a minute I could so many YouTube videos on hot to simply connect the inverter to the internet via a Ethernet cable from your home modem. I spent $19 dollars and followed the simple instructions on YouTube and I now have everything working perfectly with full communications and connection to the internet etc. Do not fall for this companies BS and let them scam you. Feel free to contact me for free if you want some quick advice on how to do this yourself!! Companies like this should be shut down. What a total scam they are pulling!! read more

Recently, I have twice contracted with EA to work on my solar system (11 panels with 11 micro inverters). Initially, my system had 5 faulty micro inverters (under warranty) and a non-functioning communication module. The first contract ($3500) was to clean my panels, upgrade the communication module by instalingl a new Envoy communication module outside my home, along with the requisite plugs and connections. The second contract ($2200) was to replace the 5 faulty microinverters, all of which were under warranty. EA has failed to fully complete the work described in both contracts, and have in fact made my solar system significantly worse. Even more frustrating is their lack of interest in finishing the work, troubleshooting the problems with their work and correcting their errors. Currently, their only suggestion is for me to agree to another contract to undergo a "full retrofit" of my solar system at a further cost of over $15,000. When I signed these two contracts, I was assured that EA possessed the technical expertise and problem solving skills to restore my system to functioning status with 11 working panels. Instead, I have paid EA nearly $6,000 and my system now only has 3 working panels, and produces only 1/2 the power previously produced. read more

I will simply describe my interaction with Energy Aid. I requested an evaluation of my non-working solar system. I paid Energy Aid $299 for a comprehensive assessment of my system. The person sent for the evaluation was polite but not knowledgeable. He was constantly on the phone getting guidance from another person. In the end, he diagnosed my system as needing a replacement of 4 fuses and a fuse box. I checked....the parts for this repair would cost around $150. I was quoted $2600 ,in addition to the $299 I already paid, for the repair. I was also told, once I agreed to the quote, it would take 1 week to order the parts then 1 week to schedule to service. $2600 seemed excessive, so I shopped elsewhere. Within a few hours I found another company who said they could fix my problem the next day for $300. AND THEY DID. buyer beware.....stay away from this company. They will rip you off!!!! read more

I initially gave EnergyAid a positive review for checking out my SolarEdge system. I have lost tracking ability due to a modem upgrade on the server. Also, two of my 16 panels are not generating energy. I was quoted $299 to check out my system. A tech showed up and spent about an hour going over my system. He said they would send me a review of what they found and an estimate to fix the issues. Didn't happen, but about a week later I discovered the tech had left my inverter OFF before he left. I was not generating energy from my system for about a week. Finally talked to Brandt and asked for my $299 back. He said, oh well, mistakes happen. I asked what he wanted to charge me to fix the communications with the server. He quoted me $2,000 for the fix. In the mean time, my solar guy came by and, after spending $13 for a cat5 cable, we plugged it in to the inverter and my comm with the server worked fine. My solar guy didn't even charge me because he said the fix only took a few minutes. So I spent $13 to fix my communications problem instead of $2,000 for EnergyAid to "fix" it. Don't know about you but this sure sounds like a rip off to me. Brandt also tried his best to sell me a $7,000 inverter even though my current inverted is still on warranty. Still haven't received a quote to fix my 2 panels although Brandt assured me the optimizers needed to be replaced. Don't know how many thousands that's going to cost me, but I assure you, I won't be going to EnergyAid for the fix. What amazes me is that a company as big as SolarEdge that manufactures the panels, inverters, etc. would recommend a company as incompetent and greedy as EnergyAid to support their products. read more

I would give fewer stars if it were an option. We have a similar story to the others and wish I would have read the reviews before scheduling them to come out. We did the $299 for the inspection and were quoted $5500 for something that was under warranty. I let them know we would be looking elsewhere to get a second opinion and that did not stop the sales calls and texts. When we had another technician come out we were quoted $750 but here is where it takes a turn - that second technician called about our warranty and Energy Aid had ordered our replacement parts under our warranty and it was in their warehouse. This all happened without our consent and never any discussion of moving forward. When I confronted Frank he played dumb until admitting the part had been delivered to their warehouse. I called the manufacturer to report this and am waiting for Energy Aid to hopefully return the parts to us. The manager later called me and at the end of the call offered to match my other technicians rate, which i declined. read more
