I had a really strange experience with this company. The owner told me "I can build anything." and I sent him a photo of how I wanted the finished work to look. His company built something completely different MORE THAN ONCE and when I finally showed the original photo of what we had agreed on to the guy in charge of the crew doing the actual building, he was startled. it was obviously his first time seeing what he was supposed to be doing. Bizarre, to say the least. I wound up agreeing to a much simpler design just to get it over with and surprise, the finished product looks like crap. I called and scheduled a meet on site. They didn't show up and didn't give a heads-up. I drove half hour to get the site and wait for half hour which totally waste my time even for a simple meet. I let them know that I'm not happy with this unprofessional behavior and I got a text reply like this: "Well I am sorry that I have inconvenienced you to this point. Unfortunately, these things happen. Good luck to you and your new construction." Make a wise choice to choose right people who can get your trust. read more

We went with soldier brick because they were the most affordable in the area. Unfortunately we made a mistake going with them. The work they did was very shoddy and we found multiple issues. They curved one half of the walkway and made the other half straight angles even though it was told to them multiple times over text messages that we wanted a curve on each side. The walkway is not centered, nor is the stairs that they installed, and they also forgot to put the edge restraint (so the bricks don't shift over time) in about 1/2 of the areas. They actually left the uninstalled edging on top of the pavers after they left (???). And on one side of the curve near the driveway they messed up how they cut and curved the bricks. We've tried to contact the owners multiple times. They told us that it would be over $1K to get these issues fixed. We said we would pay but also mentioned that it seemed like a high price seeing as much of this was issues on how they did the work. They said that they did exactly what we told them. read more

Unlike the other reviews, my experience was great. I had my back porch re-bricked and front porch tuck pointed. The work was well done at a fair price. They matched the multi colored brick to the existing brick. It looks like I can't upload the before and after pictures due to the file size. Did my project 4 months ago. I thought by now I'd forgive and forget, but I can not! I have bricks falling off my wall. I had to have another contractor out to clean up JJ's mess. A couple of the workers are very nice, but inexperienced. Jonathan makes all kinds of promises and he definatally has a very high oppinon of himself, but the work leaves much to be desired. They also had absoutly NO respect for my property. I had mortor all over the place and even my neighbor's car!! Also had lots of damage to downspouts, tree, mailbox, driveway, & sidewalk. Hired to do chimney and tuck pointing. After one week all tuck pointing began crumbling. Chimney had missing mortar on 20 bricks. Neighbors called police after seeing one guy on our roof shooting up something in his arm. Vodka bottle found in gutters by chimney. When confronted with the poor workmanship owner said not his problem. After disputing charges with Discover we were able to prove the awful workmanship on the brick work and recoup our money. I am submitting my experience for review.  Soldier Brick was an awful experience.  The owner Jonathan has a temper and an attitude.  Our contract was incomplete and the job was done wrong.  He argued with us via text message stating he fulfilled his contract terms and our requests for repairs were bizarre.  A bit of background on my husband, he works for a very reputable fireplace and chimney supply company started by a man who did chimney work with his father for years before starting the supply company.  We are not ignorant as to how things should be done. 1.  There is no drip edge.  A drip edge should extend beyond the edge of stack and divert water away from the chimney to the roof and gutters.  This keeps the stack from freezing and cracking. 2. There was exposed wood and mesh. 3. The cap was crumbling after just a few weeks. 4. They did not install a storm collar, we had one and they lost it. 5.  Corner stones at the base are cracking. 6.  They didn't put Tyvex over all wood surfaces before applying the stone.  Argued with us that he couldn't do it because there was rotten wood where my homes gutter attached to the roof.  Again the rotted board was going to be replaced when we painted the house and was not attached to the chimney.  Tyvex is thin sheet and could just be slid in and affixed above and below the overhang. 7.  They didn't tarp anything, the roof or the deck.  They had concrete all over my roof and deck.  The owner said it's not his responsibility to clean the concrete off my asphalt shingles.  That it won't ruin my roof to leave it there.  He also suggested we get the acid and clean up his mess.  Side note, one of his guys was spitting chewing tobacco on our roof too. 8.  They cracked the dormer behind the chimney.  Jonathan refuses to replace the shingles and repair the damage with anything other than chalk. 9.  The walkway quote was for a 3 foot wide walk made with a mold to look like cobblestone.  We specifically asked for it to be smooth so that is not a trip hazard for my 92 year old Grandfather.  The texture changes from smooth to rocky about 1/2 way down the path.  The path is about 2 feet wide, not 3 and didn't refund us for the reduction in width.  He didn't quote for edging which was needed due to the fact that the locking sand has no edge to keep it from spilling out.  Since they reduced the path width maybe they should have used the funds for the edging.  Instead we bought it. 10.  The first step off the driveway onto the walk was installed wrong and a trip hazard by 3/4 of an inch.  Since then he had his guy out to fix the drop, however he said no more locking sand. 11.    His bank wouldn't cash our cashiers check.  He texted me being upset about it.  All I can say was not my problem...it's your bank.  What that indicates is that his account was in the negative and his bank was holding the money. 12.  Overhead through open windows that the owner was in jail for domestic violence.  He couldn't get bonded out due to bench warrants. On Sunday his crew finally came out to repair the cap.  Once he showed up and we addressed with him the issues he again completely denied any responsibility for our roof.  He got snarky and belligerent and told me to suck his dick and fuck off in front of my husband.  My children heard this.  My neighbors heard this.  After knowing his domestic violence history this makes me incredibly uncomfortable.  He was literally provoking my husband to try to start a fight, it was obvious he wanted to throw punches.  I've heard this is not the first time he's had confrontations with customers when confronted with sub par craftsmanship. Soldier Brick is the most unprofessional company I have ever seen. Hired them to install stamped concrete on the porch, stairs and walkway. The finished product looked like a child did it and looked like crap. They did not clean the edges on the stairs leaving clumps of concrete around the edges. the stamp pattern was light in some places and way too deep in others causing a trip hazard. Parts of the concrete pulled up from the stamp leaving ugly holes in the concrete. What should have taken at most 4 days turned into two weeks with them driving on the grass and leaving their equipment on my front lawn. When I made the "owner" of the company come pick up the last payment and went over everything that was wrong, he did not see any issues. When I told him I was going to post bad reviews he basically threatened me by saying "be careful" several times. Do not even consider this company for anything. Complete frauds! read more

Did a fine job on repairing my cement/brick issues. Very reasonable rates and completed the job in one day. Would consider them again.

Make sure you're money is extra green, because they don't show up to appointments & gave them multiple chances. Maybe business is too good they don't need the work! read more
