I would strongly encourage anyone considering using this company to think twice. They seem like a reputable company, but are quite the opposite. I contracted with them to repair some intricate crown molding in my historic home. He told me they "could" repair and told me about repairs they had done to a historic church in Pontiac and another historic building in Detroit. They sent a worker to make repair that they knew had a drinking problem. He botched the job. When I mentioned that I thought he smelled like alcohol, Sean said "that it was the second time this had happened with this person. He said his father, who is the owner of the company would come and fix it. The owner of the company came out to see the problem and was supposed to return to fix it, but never came back. Instead they sent others on two different occasions who lacked the expertise to fix the botched job. One even said he couldn't fix and left, but Sean brought him back and said he could. They each said that because the first guy had not done it properly in the beginning, there was little they could do to fix it. I was told by Sean, the owner's son who oversaw the project from the beginning, if they could not make it right that they would give me my money back. I texted Sean pictures of the botched job, left messages on his cell phone that I was not satisfied, and called the main office and left a message with Lauren for Sean to call me. He also said that he told me "they would do their best". He never said that. He said they "could" repair it. My last phone call to the office was in October 2024. As of this date, no one has responded to my texts or phone calls. I paid $2,100 to this company and now have pay someone else to do it right. read more

I had a leak in a plaster ceiling. Ron repaired this to a like new appearance in one day at a very fair price. Other companies were significantly higher; one wanted to take out the entire 12x12 foot ceiling after I had arranged to remove the insulation and then remove all the plaster and replace with drywall. Ron removed a section of the damaged plaster and replaced cement board and then did a beautiful finish plaster repair about 5x5 in size. R&D Drywall did an AMAZING Job! After hanging my basement drywall, myself I reached out to 3 different drywall companies all around the same price point. The R&D responded quickly and set up an appointment within 3 days to provide me an estimate and walk through the whole job with me. Ron the owner was great, kind courteous and even provided me with some suggestions on arears of the drywall I missed when hanging. After talking over the whole job and writing up the quote, I received my price within 3 hours. While they weren't the cheapest, they did provide me with a small cash discount and the confidence the Job was going to be done right and man was I right. The scheduled my job the next week and showed up on time, set up the site, protecting the floor and arears to the jobsite and got to work. Josh and Danny were the members of the team that worked on my job alongside Ron the entire 3 days, they showed my wife, me and even my dog nothing but kindness, talked to me through different steps they were doing, arears that I should think about when going to paint/finish the room. They did an amazing job mudding, sanding and even priming the entire room and trust me, you want your drywall company to prime. They went above and beyond in everything they did, even fixing a spot near the windows where I had an issue with moisture. After finishing the job and priming the entire room walls and ceilings, Ron took the extra time to walk me through everything they did and told me to call him back after I was done with the trim for my one free touch up appointment. I was surprised I got a free call back as none of the other companies had offered or mentioned that. This was another reason when you need to go with this team, after the primer dry's you will find arears of imperfections you would have never seen until it was primed. This is where this company and team excels, they asked me to circle all the imperfections I found using a pencil and flashlight (there was a good amount) and they would fix them all. That's just what they did, after I was done trimming, Ron came back, walked through all the marks I made with me and promised they would all be fixed and that's just what they did. Josh and Danny came back the next day, hit every spot I marked, plus a few I missed and had the job done all in a half day. Josh and Danny, both gave me tips on painting, ideas for things I never thought of and went out of their way to ensure the job was done to my liking. I can't say enough great things about this team, get a couple quotes but at the end of the day this is the place and team you should stop looking past and go with hands down. This job was completed a little over a month ago. I was hoping we could have fixed the damage done by this crew ourselves and not even comment publicly on the work we paid for, but discovering new water damage caused by this repair has changed my mind. We called R & D because of the high ratings. The owners son came over to assess our water damage and assured us that a professional team would fix our issue. He addressed additional issues besides the water damage. One was remounting the railing in the stairwell. It was clinging to life on some poor patches and said his team would take care of it. He also said the windowsill would be removed entirely because these types of windows could not support it. Whatever worked, we just wanted the wall to be fixed. We received the quote the next day, and a young man was out the following week to fix it all that day. He did a great job, even alerted us to some ants that were in the wall. The humidity stopped him from sanding, so a different team came over the next day. This time, two young men and a supervisor showed. The only things covered in plastic was the doorway to our stairs. It took eight hours for the three of them to sand and then repair the new skim coat they sanded through. They remounted the windowsill (which wasn't supposed to be remounted?) and ask us for screws to remount the handrail which they did not know they were supposed to remount. They did not have a stud finder, so instead drilled a screw into the wall about three feet below the handrail. They did not patch over it. The handrail is mounted too high even though we showed them where we would like it to be mounted. Most of the screws holding the handrail are stripped, so when it comes time to fix this we will just try it ourselves. We don't want anymore damage. They walked through the house with shoes covered in drywall, picking up our nik naks and talking about them while one of the men worked. They left before we could really assess what had been done. Our whole living room was left in a coat of drywall dust. The work around the window is extremely sloppy, and water is leaking in even more now, because they remounted the windowsill. We told them it wasn't supposed to be mounted, according to Sean, but he said he had no idea what we were talking about. The walls were left for us to sand. Shame on me for not calling right away and asking it to be fixed or for some kind of discount. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company at all due to the baffling unprofessionalism and aggressive rudeness of Shawn, the owner's son and overall project manager. Reading through the other reviews, I find that I'm not the first customer to have difficulties working with Shawn. Did work at our house. The owner's son who came out (name is Shawn, I believe) is a pompous and incredulous individual. It was understood that the price was quoted was to both deconstruct to find the source of water infiltration, then to reconstruct what was destroyed. Once it was taken apart, they then told us it was going to be a lot more to put it back together. I could have cut out the walls myself!!! It was ridiculous. He told me about how he needed a deposit because my neighbor two doors down never paid her bill. What that has to do with me is beyond me, but his lack of integrity was something of note. I kicked him out of my house when he gave the second quote. Ron, if you read this, you need to send your son to some classes to abate this horrible behavior. read more

First and foremost, our contractor Larry was absolutely great! He was professional, friendly, and meticulous. The quality of the work was excellent and he made the drywall repair experience a pleasant one. On the other hand, a member of their managerial staff; Shawn Larkins was very rude and disparaging. After informing Shawn that a portion of our repair would be paid by our Home Warranty company he immediately criticized me personally, assumed that I was attempting to avoid payment, aggressively spoke to me in a disrespectful manner, and "disconnected" our telelphone call twice without following up to finally resolve the matter. The most puzzling thing about our experience with the company were the assumptions made towards me personally regarding the billing matter. It's unbelievable that an individual would have the audcaity to treat a customer so poorly and not attempt to rectify the issue to create a positive experience. During the telephone call I humbly apologized for my inability to attend the initial estimate that my mother in law was able to be present for. Nevertheless, my absence did not justify the retaliatory remarks that I received from Shawn Larkins. Especially because my absence was the result of an extended work-related meeting at my office and finalizing plans for my LSAT studies. Furthermore, attempting to demean prospective customers for using a home warranty is ridiculous. A home warranty is a service contract that for a set period covers the cost of maintaining household systems or appliances. It is most often advised when purchasing an older home for which information is not apparent regarding the status of the items covered. As a real estate agent, investor, and consultant to other professionals throughout southeastern Michigan, I will ensure that others are aware of my personal experience. Throughout the conversation Shawn mentioned several times that he is the son of the owner. Although the fact seemed irrelevant, I would remind Shawn that leadership is not a position or a titile, it is action and example. My hope is that my experience does not reflect the culture of the R and D Drywall organization. Nontheless, I cannot confidently receommend their services and I will share my experience with hundreds of others within my network and my practice for years to come. read more

Shawn came out in June to give us a quote on some ceiling drywall repair and staircase painting. We didn't actually call him back until October to get the work done but they didn't change the quote on us. Adrian came out to do the drywall repair and I was incredibly grateful for the work he did -he went above and beyond in repairing every nail pop, crack, and ding in our upstairs ceiling. DJ came out a few days later to do the painting and he was also very impressive -he worked hard all day and didn't stop until all the painting was done and everything cleaned up. R and D have done work for me twice. The first job was done over two years ago and I still have no cracks. The second job was done about a year ago, and also still looks great. Sanding drywall is messy work, and I'd be lying if I said there was no dust for me to clean up at all, but from my DIY experience, R and D did a good job keeping the mess down. R & D Drywall We DO NOT recommend this Company!!! Shawn was on time for the estimate (and 1 updated estimate), he said all the right things to get us to trust him and sign his contract. Yes, we trusted him!!! He assured us that he didn't contract out. The first day of the job, 3 men showed up who said they were CONTRACTED by him!! Our signed contract with R & D indicated "Rosen paper floors, vapor block doors, cover belongings with plastic". None of this was done until the 2nd day after the work began. There was glue ALL over the floor, drywall mud all over the fireplace, windows, screens and they left with no clean up. They drywalled over ceiling lights and electrical wires. The workmanship was WAY less than adequate. After 2 weeks of excuses and them showing up whenever they wanted, they demanded a check for the balance without the customer's inspection of their final work. During a phone call with Shawn, he agreed that you should see the job before payment. We called Shawn the very next morning after completion with concerns and he referred us to his dad, Ron. Ron hung up in the middle of the conversation!!! So much for "Ron takes pride in his work and stands behind his word 100% as stated in his "Meet the Business Owner" message!!! (Terrance is the best thing this company has going for them; no relation) Payment was made and obviously there is no warranty! PM and we will provide photos of R & D's workmanship start to finish. People have the right to know when someone pays for a service and that service is not provided. No one knew what was going on and they left my French doors wide open. Not unlocked wide open for several hours until I came home at 10pm at night thinking someone had broken into my house.They then sent out a new employee who had never worked with the company to drywall my bathroom (this came straight from the gentleman who had to come out and fix the work) that was "shit quality from his idiot workers." -owner. That same employee walked into my house with both cars in the driveway without ringing the door bell and walked in on my naked in my own house. He also left a bucket in my kitchen sink and left the water running while he went out to take another smoke break. That bucket overflowed and according to his co worker flooded my kitchen. I could literally go on for days about how awful of an experience this was. He then used my brand new dish towels to clean up the drywall that was left all over the floor ruining those as well. This was a 2 day job according to the owner. It took 8 days and a week of clean up the I had to do myself. They sent a crew of 1 to help me (I cleaned along side of her for 4.5 hours). The quality of work is absolutely terrible. Even now when we are trying to complete the project you can see the wall are concave and giant gaps are left between the floors and molding that will now need to be filled somehow. The drywall was sanded so poorly paint was falling off of the walls and we had to take out and repatch 2 huge portions of walls. When I called to figure out what we were going to do about the remainder of the money the owner screamed at me over the phone and threatened to put a lien on my house and come after me if I posted anything online about his company. I had extensive drywall work to be done due to a plumbing job by another company. Shawn came out and gave me a quote based on everything I needed done. I signed the contract and Terrance and another worker showed up on time on the correct day. Terrance worked steadily through the day but the other worker left at one point for supplies and left early for personal reasons, leaving Terrance to do all the work. He did not finish that day but was back early the next morning and worked alone all day to get the job done. He cleaned up the work area well and was polite and professional the entire time. If I ever need drywall work done again, I would not hesitate to have Terrance do the work. read more

This company is pathetic. I was quoted $785 to cut out and replace a section of my living room ceiling, repair a hole and put in an access panel in the hallway, and fix a corner of the ceiling that separated upstairs. First off the worker shows up at 9 am when we were told he'd be here at 10. No big deal but there was no call or notification that he was coming. Then the guy decides that rather than cutting out the section of drywall as quoted he took it upon himself to retape and remudd the joint without replacing the drywall as quoted. Next he tells my wife that the access panel she was talked into by the person that quoted the work wasn't included and that he would leave a hole so that we could go get our own access panel and install it ourselves. When my wife called the office the woman told her that replacing the drywall was a worst case scenario and that it cost the same to cut out and replace the water damaged drywall as it did to throw up a small piece of tape and some drywall mud. If Shawn ever shows up at your house to do the work tell him no thanks because he's Arrogant, argumentative and obviously lazy since he'd rather do the bare minimum instead of doing what his company is being paid to do. read more

First day the damaged drywall was repaired, primed and painted. One area was white and other area was red. Red needed repainted next day.White ceiling also needed more work. Kitchen ceiling had popcorn removed and painted . Nice job. Recently however, on the kitchen ceiling some defects appeared where the walls meet the ceiling and so I called Ron who said he would be here Satrday at 10:00. I was home all day with no call and he never showed . This was the third call to him. The white ceiling in the family room is also now showing defects. We had significant problems with R&D Drywall. Shawn came and quoted and was lead on our job. He quoted 2 days for the job, it took 4. Clean-up was terrible. On day three which was finishing and clean-up, when they left there was drywall mud in the upstairs carpet, down the stairs, and out the door. The mudding and taping crew dumped dirty water down the kids bathtub and out the 2nd floor window! Now, the best part, it's two weeks later and I'm painting Behr brand paint. It starts peeling, but it's not the Behr paint that is failing, its the primer that R and D used!!! The primer is peeling right off the drywall!!! DO NOT USE this company or you may have the same problems. I would call them and complain, but we absolutely do not want them to even come onto our property again. You do not want Shawn Larkins and R and D Drywall in your house. I picked them because of the great reviews, but my experience was very bad. read more
