I have to admit that I"ve actually never been to a bear games. I know, i know...I need to change that this season. But I did attend a wedding at Soldier Field last night so this review is based on using Soldier Field as an event venue. First of all, this place is a pain in the butt to get to...especially when there's a soccer game that ended shortly before a wedding. While it should have taken my cab about 10 minutes to get here from my apartment it took almost an hour! I pretty much had to walk down the aisle with the groom...due to my tardiness. So plan ahead if you have something at solider field that you need to be on time for! The ceremony was outside in the colonnade and while the view was absolutely amazing all the planes overhead and ambulances driving by made it impossible to hear the bride and groom exchanging vows. And it was absolutely freezing, but probably my own stupidity for not bringing a shawl...my fiance himself was in the wedding, but as soon as it was over I stole his jacket for cocktail hour (which was in the same area). To my disappointment there weren't many appetizers to start (I'm a huge appetizer person), but this is probably because once we made it inside for dinner there was so much food! A comfort food station, a spanish tapas station, an indian food station...and more! I felt like I was eating at all the different countries in Epcot. Food at weddings is generally not very good, especially when feeding a crowd this large (I think there were over 500 people there), but I was pretty satisfied...especially with the mac and cheese and mini grilled cheese over tomato soup. Can you tell I spent most of my time at the comfort food station? The area for dinner and dancing was absolutely huge- plenty of room for fun on the dance floor! And it was right near the entrance of the field so we could go on out and take a few pictures...I believe this was my fiance's favorite part of the evening. Mine was the mac and cheese. I worried about finding a cab home from here, but someone had planned ahead and had cabs lined up for when we were leaving...nice move! Overall, I was pretty impressed! I wouldn't recommend Soldier Field for a small, intimate wedding, but perfect for a party with at least 400 people. I took the soldier field tour with Pat. He is the most amazing tour guide. Do not take this tour with anyone else. If you love history this is a great place to visit and Pat knows how to bring it all to life. You can go o. The field, go into the visiting teams locker room and even the sky boxes. Also Pat is a former police officer and a current fire fighter, he knows the city really well and gives great recommendations. read more

This was my very first time at Soldier Field (for a concert). Though there's been debate about the addition to the stadium, I felt neutral about it, I didn't think it was hideous and I didn't think it was great either. It seats 60,000 people comfortably and isn't that the point? We walked to the stadium so I can't speak about the parking situation. A quick bag check is done at the entrance, however, I was surprised that they're ok with people bringing in cameras but confiscate umbrellas! There was a chance of rain that night so there were piles of umbrellas by the door. Must be an insurance/liability thing... Women everywhere can rejoice--no lines for the bathrooms because there were enough bathrooms with enough stalls to accommodate everyone. Plenty of concession stands, prices are outrageous as you'd expect--$8 for a Bud Light, $5 for a hot dog (pretty tasty), and $7 for nachos (most stale chips I've ever had--disgusting, don't get it). There are really no bad seats in the house. Our seats were in the 400 section but we never made it up there. We (along with 50 other people) snuck into the ground-level section to the right of the stage--shhhhhhh! Overall, I like Soldier Field much better than United Center because it's obviously larger, easier to get in and out of, and there's much more room to move around. read more

Oh!! I'm quite the lollygagger on writing reviews, but I love this one because I can get it in almost a year later and it's still "somewhat timely" as this year's race hasn't yet been run. Highlights & notes from 2012 event: * Crossing the "50" of course! * Awesome medal & stadium blanket (very high quality) * Running that dark area through McCormick place was a bit dicey considering the potholes - be careful * Amazing spirit at booths pre-race * Was my first 10 mile and even though I had to push through just to start it (injured/sore/mentally shot) I find this to be a very desirable distance (I'd only done 5, 8, 10K and 13.1s) * Would have liked to have seen more course support - it was a crummy day though, so people probably held off on coming out * I'm mixed on the course itself - down LSD and back wasn't my favorite - well actually, the fact that it was LSD made it ok but "down and back" a different route, I'd definitely skip (plus there was construction blocking views) * You can't fight the wind & rain off the lake! But you can try... On a chilly-gray-drizzly Chicago morning, running south on Lake Shore Drive, as the seas rose and the wind howled and I wearily put one foot in front of the other...I cursed the injury that had been holding me down for months. And the cruel droplets grew colder and the wind roared, "give up!" and "take that!" I felt something rise within me. I don't know if it was eating at Forrest Gump's on Navy Pier recently or what, but I found myself shaking my fist in the air and hollering, "You call this a storm? Is that all you've got!?!" Um take my review with a grain of salt cause I haven't been to many stadiums so I don't really have anything to compare it against. Most of my friends actually say they aren't a huge fan of Soldier Filed compared to other's they visit out of town. I've been here a couple of times, but most recently I went for the Bears Vs Lions game on 10/2/2016. I'll admit having second row seats made my visit even better. The stadium is HUGE!!! Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to arrive. We kept getting lost just trying to find the will call counter. Food selections are EXPENSIVE (as I figured they would be), but a decent enough variety. Try to take public transportation cause they charge you an arm and leg for parking. If you take the bus or the red line it puts you in close walking distance to the stadium. Go BEARS! read more

On an invite by a friend with primo seats I attended my first Bears game at Soldier Field. First off, traffic management around the stadium is horrendous. We had a Blue parking pass and followed the Blue signs only to run into a road block on McFetridge, and being waved away by screaming guys with flashing sticks. Your best bet is to take the EL or Metra downtown and walk. Our seats on the 200-level included access to the United Club (for an extra $200). I've never been part of an exclusive club, save for that one stint in the He-Man Woman-Haters Club. I was stoked by visions of being fed grapes by goddesses while lounging on a chaise and being fanned with a Bears jersey. The United Club is a buzzkill. Imagine being in an airport and walking past airport lounge upon airport lounge. That's what it's like! I can't believe people would want to sit inside and watch the game in favor of their real seats! A completely sterile take-no-chances that Joe Superfan will cringe environment. While ordering drinks at one of these lounges we honestly felt like we were on the trading floor or at a race track, with guys screaming out their drink orders with aggressive rapidity. The stadium looks beautiful from the outside, I really do love the UFO nesting in the old columns of Soldier Field. But from the inside it totally missed the mark of melding old and new. There's no connection between old and new unless you go up to the 400-level walkway. We could see the old columns through glass and it seriously felt like a history exhibit, not a living stadium. For years I've defended the new architecture based on admiring Soldier Field from up close, but never from inside. Now, I sadly have to eat crow and agree that the new additions missed the mark and landed on the wrong planet. read more

A few years ago, if you told me I'd run a 10 mile race - for fun - I'd laugh in your face and call you crazy. Back then, the only way I could envision running 10 miles was if I was being chased; these days I not only consider myself a runner, I've become judicious about the races I run - especially the big ones. I have to give props to Fleet Feet for being very organized from start to finish. If you're registered for the race or are on the FF email list, you'll get update emails every few weeks about the race. I'll admit, I was skeptical about packet pickup; Fleet Feet seemed too small for such a large race, but I was in and out in under 15 minutes and thankful to not be schlepping to Navy Pier or McCormick Place. The race itself was well laid out - the seated corrals and rest of us were separated by colored bibs. While the weather was perfect for a race, it wasn't perfect for standing around. If I had one complaint, it was the 45 minutes after the official start that it took to cross the starting line. Beyond that, there were few, minor bottlenecks; plenty of water stations; music along the course and attentive medical staff. The best part of this race is the finish; running onto the field and appearing on the jumbo-tron is bound to give anyone a surge of energy. Family and friends can cheer you on inside the stadium as you finish on the 50 yard line and collect your nifty medal. After the race there was plenty of water, granola and hot bananas* available, as well as bags to carry you booty and stadium blanket. Having a number of races under my belt, I've begun to prefer smaller races; however, I will say this race gives you pretty good bang for your buck. To break it down, I paid a similar amount for last year's Perfect 10 (10 mile) and didn't get: *A Nike women's dri-fit; instead I got a fugly, no-name unisex one *Stadium Blanket *Post-race party *My name announced while I crossed the 50 yard line on the jumbo-tron *Free parking if you get there early enough; although it's easy to get there on the Red Line too I recommend doing this race at least once and if you do, register early and save some dough. Though my preference is for the smaller races, I could see myself doing this one again. * WTF was up with the hot bananas?! Gross. read more

Okay- I've been here for so many different functions it is hard to evaluate the stadium as every time I have been here- it has been a different experience- from concert venue, to football stadium to private fundraiser. Today- I went for a Bears game. Nice. Our seats were in the end zone and so close to the bar and bathrooms that I felt that we were in a private area. In fact, we got to know the seating attendant so well that she was cheering right along with us throughout the game! The bathrooms were clean and there was hardly a line which is always a plus in my book! If there was a down side- it was in the full body frisk and bag check to get into the stadium. The security guard actually thanked me when she was done feeling me all over (it was good for me as well, in case you were wondering!) Still not sure what they were looking for but I've gotten through airports with less touching! As an aside- if you are walking over to the Stadium from the direction of Michigan Ave- note that the two walkways are on Roosevelt to the north, and 18th to the South. Both pedestrian walks will get you safely to the stadium circumventing the traffic which is nice. I've been in the private boxes, the Club level, the 50 yard line and even down on the field. And each time as I look around, I marvel at the history of this place. And while I am not a big fan of the alterations to the old stadium- the alternative to tearing down such a magnificent structure is untenable to me. So I squint and think about the people who have gone before me. And what this field is really all about. A testament to those soldiers who lost their lives for belief in their country. And that alone makes this an amazing experience! read more

First big snow storm of December and instead of sitting in side with a warm cup of coffee in front of the TV, I'm sitting outside next to the lake for three hours drinking ice cold beer? Yes, and I would recommend this to anyone just for the experience. Pros: - Good beer selection (Guiness and Leinenkugel on tap) - Public transport (146 bus to red line) - Crowd watching (guy with his shirt off in 10 degree wind chill) - Decent food (Italian beef, brats, and fried chicken) - LIVE NFL FOOTBALL Cons: - Expensive (pricey tickets and $8 beer) - Huge mob line to get in (20+ minutes) - Not easy to navigate - Seats were iced over I'm glad I had the opportunity to go, there is something awesome about watching everyone gladly suffer the elements to watch live football on a December Sunday afternoon. I LIKED THE OLD SOLDIER FIELD. I just can't get over how much they messed up the stadium. I have been to a few soccer games since they remolded the stadium, and at that point I thought the stadium was just ugly on the outside, but nice on the inside. But that's because I always had pretty decent seats for a reasonable price. Last night I went to the U2 concert and was in the 400 level seats. They are really damn high up. The view was still good from where we were, but I got really bad vertigo. I was really worried I was going to have a panic attack from my fear of heights, but luckily it got better when the lights went off. There were huge lines for the women's bathrooms. But lines for food weren't bad, and as far as I could tell beer lines weren't too bad. I just can't get over how ugly the stadium is now. My dad (who is a big Men in Black fan) always says 'Don't worry, the aliens will come back for their space ship one day and soldier will go back to normal' read more

Great place!! Watched the bears beat the cowboys. The seats were amazing!! 2nd level under the awning it's great!! Section 240-248 is right near the alcohol and food. The food is all the same on the upper levels the real food is on the lower section. If you want all different types of beer and food buy at the lower level and bring it up to your seats. read more

I had never been to an NFL game before this, but have been to stadiums for MLB games. I was very impressed with Soldier Field. My 70 year old aunt went to the game with us and we were walking arm in arm with her to the front gates as she doesn't walk too well on her own. An employee approached us and offered her a wheelchair. She gladly accepted. He took all of us with them and wheeled her to our section. Once we arrived at our section, there were 4 or 5 other employees ready to assist her to her seat. They took down her information so that upon completion of the game, they could come back and assist us when leaving the game. We sat in section 117, row 14. Great seats! Restrooms, food vendors, and the pro shop are all convenient to this area. During the game, the staff came to check on my aunt a few times to see if she needed anything, and as promised after the game, they were there to assist her into the wheelchair and pushed her all the way out of the stadium to the street. We were impressed with the set up for arriving and exiting the games for foot traffic. For the amount of people leaving the game, we never felt cramped as there was adequate space on the walkways and the occasional tunnels were nice to walk through as they provided shelter from the cold weather. There was an issue with the game clock during the game, hence only a 4 star rating. read more

Soldier Field - Section 117, row 14 - GREAT seats! - Stadiums & Arenas Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I've attended two games here: once as a guest in one of the corporate suites (versus the Dolphins in 2006), and last weekend against the Vikings in nosebleed seats in the northwest corner. While the suites are as classy and accommodating as you would expect, they definitely foster an insulated game experience. Last Sunday I was surprised to see how nice is the rest of the stadium. We were as far NW as you could get, although about ten rows from the top, but the view was better than expected. Besides, you can follow the action and see replays on the Jumbotron. One complaint is that game information (down and distance, etc) are printed rather small at the bottom of the screen, and scores and stats from other NFL games are displayed sporadically rather than continuously. The concessions are unimaginative. Hot dog, polish, burger, grilled chicken, cheesesteak, Italian beef, pulled pork--those are your main food options. I had a pulled pork, which was okay. Too bad they were out of straws and did not have onions at the condiment stand. They also ran out of hot pretzels (this was at the start of the second half). Booo. Restrooms, crowd control, entry/egress all seemed reasonable. The stadium seemed very clean, which is a pleasant surprise that one may not typically notice. Three exuberant fans served as the cheerleaders for our section, doing dances and chants and generally welcoming everyone to have a good time no matter what was happening on the field. They made the game a lot of fun. Everyone in our vicinity was polite and friendly, even to the handful of Vikings fans in attendance. There were no drunken, boorish shenanigans like you would expect in a certain other Chicago sports venue. The friend with whom I attended had a friend/family pass to access the Minnesota bus area, allowing us to rendezvous with her friend from the Vikings coaching staff. It was pretty neat to see players and other personnel coming out after the game. It wasn't easy to reach that part of the stadium, but I suppose that's for the best. read more

I've attended a number of Bears games at the new spaceship-themed Soldier Field. I can't comment on parking as I typically always parked in the Loop and then just walked to the place from there (about 30-odd minutes). You can also grab a taxi and ask to be taken as close to Soldier Field as possible, which then translates into about a ten-minute walk. In either case, it's a much more hassle-free way to go IMO as compared to fighting the traffic in the venue's immediate area. While the outside of the new version of Soldier Field has always been controversial, the inside is a dramatic improvement over the old venue. I've sat in the sideline 300 and 400 level, as well as 300-level endzone seats, and each had a great view. The 300-level sideline seats have always been my favorite -- you feel right on top of the action without being too close to see the entire field. Concessions are pretty much the typical NFL venue fare -- hot dogs, nachos, and the like. There's a concourse inside the north entrance, however, that has some booths with pretty interesting selections -- Bloody Mike Martinis, Guinness, and Robinson's BBQ are the ones that come to mind. It's a great part of the venue to hang out in before the game or at halftime. The only downsides to Soldier Field (besides the winter weather -- duh) are that the restrooms are apt to get overwhelmingly crowded during halftime and immediately after a game, so plan your pit stops accordingly. Also, Soldier Field has its share of uncivilized behavior -- the end zones especially seem to attract all sorts of miscreants. Don't show up in the opposing team's gear and you should be OK. In summary, you can't beat Soldier Field for its lakefront location, the history and tradition of the Chicago Bears, and the awesome view of one of world's most beautiful skylines. Check it out if you ever have the chance! read more

Concerts- Came here for a couple of concerts: Coldplay and Kenny Chesney. The stadium for Coldplay was well organized and structured to accommodate the tens of thousands of people. With Chesney, it was less organized. The venue's layout/size is perfect for concerts. The food is better than a lot of other concert venues (I've had burgers that were better than expected, and chicken tenders with fries). The sound and views are spectacular! Would definitely return to this venue for concerts. Post concert- as you walk that stretch out to your Uber/Lyft/cab, there are several ice-cream trucks lined up waiting for you. Grab a Magnum double chocolate bar, and enjoy the mere-mile walk at midnight. CHEERS! Football- Beautiful stadium and well-organized! You do have to walk an approximate mile to and from a cab if you don't drive and park in their lot. Plan accordingly. read more

Double digits, baby! This was my first year running SF10 and I can honestly say this was one of the best races I've ever run (keep in mind this is also the longest distance I've ever done). This race is sold out every year and capped off at 17,000 registrants this year. I never felt crowded during the race because of the well organized corrals. Your $80 registration includes: *2012 Commemorative Stadium Blanket distributed after the finish to 10 Mile Race participants *gender specific Nike technical shirt for 10 Mile Race participants *personalized bib number *finishers medal (my first race medal!) *post race runner refresh bag (banana, raisins, Clif bar, granola bar) *free parking in the North & South parking garages at Soldier Field(as long as you get there before they reach capacity! We got there around 5:30am, 2 hours before race start, and were one of the first cars there) I was inspired by a variety of runners: -American flag runner -guy with arm in sling -little 12 year olds that were zooming past me! The course was fast and flat for the most part with the exception of a few inclines. Each mile was clearly marked. FIve aid/water/Gatorade stations were scattered throughout the course down Lakeshore drive. Volunteers were full of energy and well organized. Loved the mister fans after mile 8, thank goodness the mercury didn't rise to the anticipated 90 degrees. The rush of running through the tunnel and out onto Soldier Field was f'mazing. I didn't get a chance to look up and see myself cross the finish line on the two Jumbotrons. This was my longest race yet and with my first half coming up next month, having this race under my belt makes that more do-able. This race is definitely a perfect 10! Can't wait to run it next year which will be the race's 10th anniversary! read more

We were gifted some really nice tickets for last Sunday's Bears vs. 49ers game. Haven't been to Soldier Field in years so this was the first time we saw the addition. It does distract a bit from the beauty of the historic building in that instead of seeing the sky, clouds, skyline, etc. you see a huge glass equivalent of Millennium Park's "Bean". But, I digress. The security was top notch. We walked through metal detectors, there were bomb sniffing dogs, security looked in car trunks, under the vehicles with mirrors, etc. Unfortunately this is necessary these days. The folks helping you find your seat were super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there helping you. The place was spotless! We were fortunate enough to get to watch this game in a box suite. All I can say is WOW! This was unlike any box I have ever been in. The architecture from the inside is amazing. The boxes curve along the inside of the field. The floor to ceiling glass bows out/pitches out at a 75 degree angle. It offers a fantastic view. You can crank open an upper transom window so you can hear the crowd. If you ever have the opportunity to experience a box (whether you pay up or are gifted with tickets), DO IT! read more

Such an awesome, old stadium that I have watched 3-4 Bears games and seen 2 concerts in...more recently the Jay-Z & Beyonce On The Run concert which was simply amazing! I actually saw Brett Favre's last game in Soldier Field as a Viking here as well Marc Trestman's 2nd to last home game as the coach when the Saints kicked the Bears' ass a month ago. I have hosted clients in one of the corporate suites a couple of times and its all first class in terms of space, food and drinks. When sitting in the stands, food and drinks from the concession stands can be quite expensive as all major stadiums are. Get the spicy Ditka dog...FYI. The energy from the fans here is something special as everyone is into the games during every play. This is one of my favorite stadiums except for the weird space shuttle looking renovation they placed here at the top back in the early 2000s. Its always nice to be in historic Soldier Filed no matter the occasion. read more

Given I've reviewed UC et al, I feel like I should be reviewing Soldier Field too! Here for a Bears game on a day when the experience was unforgettable - snow blizzarded out - and the game should be easy to forget (Bears-Patriots). Let me first start with the most contentious part of the review: I actually like the architecture of Soldier Field and think it really embodies Chicago - the merging of traditional with modern. Getting to and from Soldier Field (or anything on Museum campus) can be a little challenging in terms of public transport. The parking lots are very expensive and still quite a hike. Traffic is terrible going in and out and there just aren't enough signs directing you to where you should go. They really could do a better job with signs even to direct you right outside to the correct section. The venue is huge, of course! Lots of concession stands but very few bathrooms aka long lines. Seats weren't the most comfortable, but then again, I'm comparing them to the ones at UC! read more

Yes, it's not what it used to be, yes it has the smallest seating capacity in the NFL and is home to one of the largest franchises, but it's just so nice inside and out. At first, I admit, I thought a spacecraft had landed on our historic landmark and ruined the stadium forever and scared the museum campus, but alas, it grew on me. I recently did a tour of the inside of the stadium, owned by the Chicago Park District, and it was really cool to see the inside of the stadium from places I could NEVER afford to see for a Bears game. Seeing the visiting locker room was awesome as well, along with the quick walk along the sidelines and seeing the sweet a$$ suites! All in all this is a great venue, views are good from every seat and when it gets loud in Soldier Field you definitely can feel it! read more

Soldier Field is a tough review for me. On the one hand, there's how awful the renovation looks. As someone that loves going to ballparks, and stadiums, and arenas (oh my), I want to crush it with a 1-star review for this. On the other hand, I do believe the renovations greatly enhanced the fan experience. The decision to modernize a memorial sporting location like Solider Field was a misstep I think. It would not have been the first demolition of its kind (The Aud in Buffalo and Memorial Stadium in Baltimore are examples of memorial buildings knocked down before the Soldier Field renovation). The end result of what they did to Soldier Field has ruined its aesthetics. The place is just ugly from the outside. On the inside when you're sitting and watching the game, it doesn't look as bad. Sight lines to the field look to be great from all over. Even the upper deck seats looked much closer to the field than in other NFL stadiums. Our seats in the south end zone were not very protected from cold breezes. We were at Soldier Field for outdoor college hockey games and our bones paid the chilly price, even with multiple layers on. In some areas, the concourses for concessions, merchandise, and bathrooms are not very large. I noticed this most in the area behind the south end zone. Expect to feel like a sardine back there. I wouldn't ever try to park close to Soldier Field. Part of the experience for us was the peaceful lakeside walk through the park and past the museums. If you're with willing walkers, this is the best way to get to Soldier Field. read more

I have been to about 10 games through the years. And I love coming to every one of them, there's nothing like being there in the stadium live. The 2018 season was a tremendous success last to first. Unfortunately they did not have their best game against Philadelphia and lost. It was bittersweet but that's football. Can't wait for next season read more

Something about this area is really excited by Bloody Mary's so I tried one of the make your own garnishes and it was really delicious. I'm born and raised in Chicago and this was my very first time found into Soldier's Field. I should be embarrassed, but I'm not since tickets are pert expensive for a game. Our seats weren't that bad and we had a good view of the entire field. For all of the hoopla, I thought the layout wasn't that bad. There were a lot of concessions as I would expect and a good amount of ATM 's. The bathrooms were surprisingly normally constructed. The urinals to stall ratio was good and most importantly there wasn't a trough (Like Wrigley Field... gross). I wish the outcome was better, but I had a great time nevertheless. read more

I worked in the old Soldier Field for years, I found the exterior look of the renovations heartbreaking. I also had little reason to return, I sent my wife with another friend for her U2 concerts as I'm now a middle aged curmudgeon who doesn't like to stand in outdoor superband concerts, I can't afford Bears tickets, and then I moved out of town. But the Northwestern-Illinois game beckoned and I'll tell you, as ugly as the design is, this is a very nice outdoor stadium to watch a football game in. Let me reiterate the ugly part, aesthetically this is not an easy architectural design to take in with human eyes. The historic Greco-Roman original part had a UFO land in it, like in a cheesy low budget sci-fi movie. As much as Neo-Comiskey reminds me of a shopping mall, the interior of the new Soldier Field seems to be an airport terminal. But none of this matters if you're watching a football game in November in Chicago. There's a generous amount of warm indoor space, the part time workers here from ushers and security to the bartenders are better than average. I got accurate and helpful directions which is really not that typical of football event staff at either college or professional stadiums. Many of the prices for food and drink are outrageously high, which is to say, very typical of professional level sporting venues. However, oddly, decent scotch (Johnny Black Label) was only coins more than beer, with no sneaky upcharge for neat, making Soldier Field CHEAPER for whiskey than the last two restaurants I visited! And, although I like a drink before dinner, when at a freezing cold outdoor sporting event, I actually need the drink. The lines are much shorter than at other football stadiums or airports I've been in, both for the restrooms as well as concessions, the actual seats are a big improvement over the benches found in college football stadiums. The signs could be improved, it took a little while and two wrong turns to find the right entrance and the way out in the right direction, but as I mentioned the event staff was helpful. I'm glad we didn't try to drive, parking looks expensive and challenging, and I wouldn't have been able to have had the second scotch. It's easy to walk here from the Roosevelt El stop, relatively easy to get Uber or Lyft out of here if you walk West a bit. read more

*Photos shot What a departure professional sports fans are from the college ones. Enough has been written of the aesthetics so I shall keep my humble opinions to myself. We had a tailgate by McCormick. And had a blast. After 2-3 weeks of spotty weather, we couldn't ask for any better for the pre-season game. Parking was cheap -- $16 which also includes trash pickup and free shuttle rides to the stadium. I was amazed by how comfortable the stadium seats were and was thankful they have cupholders. Girls, avoid the porta-potties if you can help it. The restrooms are extremely clean and plentiful. And I've never been at lines that move so fast. In case you're wondering if you brought enough cash for your souvenirs and/or food, or if you do not want to incur the extra fees for using your non-home ATM, it is a Chase-operated ATM at the stadium. What stops me from giving them a full 5 stars (even though the stadium is amazing, the spirit infectious) is the quality of the concession stands. I remember watching either the Travel Channel or Food Network where they visited the ballparks and/or stadiums and I believe it was in Seattle, Philly that the concessions consisted of gourmet and local fare. Here at Soldier, we get our usual hot dogs, pretzels. Disappointing. Where're the Superdawgs, deep dish, or anything that boasts CHICAGO?! This was the first year I did this race. I really liked it. First, the technical shirt was pretty cool. I think races have come a long way as far as offering some cool gear (I will post a picture). Second, the race was super organized. Usually, I go with friends and we figure it out together. I did this one solo and was able to figure it all out on my own. I went to the "festival" area and the corrals were located there on each corner; they were well marked and color-coded so it was easy to figure out where to line up (bibs were colored to correspond to the assigned corral). My only "complaint" (if you wanna call it that) was that the race is a straight shot 5 miles to the south and then back. While it is very pretty / nature oriented, it can be a little boring to those with Runner's ADD like myself. I prefer a downtown or neighborhood course with twists and turns to keep it interesting. I will say, however, that they had plenty of water stations and bathrooms (every mile if I'm not mistaken -for sure every mile after mile 3.5). The race finish is inside Soldier Field, which was pretty cool. I also liked that they had actual soldiers passing out the finishers medals. There were many shout outs to former and current military personnel. Overall, a great race. It was tough to pull off 10 miles, but I felt really proud when I completed it. Had I gone with friends, I would have hung out more both inside the stadium and at the "after party" / festival area because it was a beautiful day. Let's put It this way. The more of a hassle you make it for me to attend a show at your venue, the less likely I will want to ever come back. One small purse and we have to miss the first hour of the show to find the lockers a mile away and then charge $10 for the locker. Racketeering. Soldier Field has set the bar for stadiums in my book. Everything about it was spectacular! I went for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final and was thoroughly impressed with the field, seats, suites, bathrooms, and VIP areas. Just another reason to love Chicago. read more

Soldier field is amazing. You can take the red line and get off at Roosevelt and walk through the beautiful parks to get to the stadium (15 minute walk). You will see amazing views of downtown Chicago. You can also get dropped off/picked up via Lyft/Uber. Traffic going in and out of the stadium was not bad at all. Bears fans are amazing. But da bears suck. Loved how the stadium is dedicated to our military. Loved the bear down song!! So much history and tradition. I can't imagine how awful it must be if the weather is cold though. But Bears fans are the best and the most dedicated. I'm sure it would still be an amazing experience nonetheless. read more

Tough to do a review when one was a pro-Bear bias, but there it goes. Pros: -If you're a Bear fan, or an NFL purest, you'll probably like it here. I know its a little on the smaller end by NFL, but that doesn't make it any less charming. Love the dedication to our armed forces -Staff is generally courteous. There is a spirit about Soldier Field and Chicago as a whole that translates to their staff. -No shortage of restrooms or staff Cons: -Get ready to open your wallet -Some of the staff seemed relatively clueless when it came to section locations -It's an outdoor stadium. It can get hot, freezing, wet, or all of the above -Parking is atrocious. People with disabilities may have trouble Bottom Line: -I prefer to watch my Bears on the television, but Soldier Field is worth the experience at least once and every few years read more
