Bottomless mimosa and bubbles to start (which she continually kept filled!), eggs Benedict, and eggs in pergatory with a side of very fresh fruit. She was so sweet and attentive. I feel like this location has so much potential to be a great, unique spot but consistently misses the mark. We arrived for a late lunch around 1:30. Restaurant was practically empty. We opted to sit outside, although we typically sit at the bar for lunch. Service was painfully slow and void of any personality. We ordered the shrimp and crab dip for an appetizer which was just "ok". We ordered two cocktails, one of which had soggy mint that should have been thrown out two days ago and flat club soda. Then we ordered the shrimp wrap and crab salad roll for our entrees, which were practically flavorless. We tried to substitute the fries for a side salad and were told that the chef wouldn't allow substitutions so we stuck with the fries. Overall, the restaurant was filthy with traffic stained floors, sand all over the stairs which is a huge slip and fall hazard, dust and grime on walls and ceilings, and badly rusted lights at the bar. Outdoor furniture was haphazardly bunched together in a corner where there used to be a pretty privacy screen separating the outdoor dining area from the parking lot that has since been removed. We are local and have been dining here since 790 on the Gulf opened in this location. We were really excited to see an upscale dining option when the first branding of Soleil opened because we so desperately need more higher end options in Destin, but it seems the rebranding of Soleil is heading in the opposite direction. Can't say we will be back any time soon unless something major changes. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 only because our food was edible, although I wouldn't order it again. read more

Looking forward to date night with my husband at this upscale restaurant. Wait staff was very attentive but meals were horrible. Husband ordered a ribeye and they were out of them (note: was 5:45pm and place was empty). He then ordered a filet mignon medium rare. It arrived well done. He sent it back. We had bread plates but weren't served bread until we asked for it. The bread was frozen when it came. Ugh! My scallops were over salted. The waiter finally came back, sighed, and told my husband he was embarrassed that they couldn't make his steak correctly (never brought a second attempt). So he took it off the bill, but our bill for one salad, one wine, one scallops, mashed potatoes and two beers was $87! Yikes. We are now at the Culver's drive thru. read more

Partner and I came for lunch on a whim after having to cancel previous dinner reservations. We had high expectations, and while we agreed they may not have been met, we still enjoyed our meal. We had good service throughout our visit. Our order was the burger, snapper bites, lobster salad wrap, and chocolate tres leches. The burger was easily the highlight. It's easy to make a good burger, hard to make a great one, and this one was amazing, and simple at that. The snapper bites were okay, perhaps over cooked but not bad. The fries that came with both were quite good. The chocolate tres leches was also okay, definitely needs more condensed milk to be considered tres leches, the whole thing was a bit dry, not bad by any means but probably wouldn't order again. The lobster salad wrap was the lowlight and the primary reason for a star docked. 40 dollars for a pinch of lobster (95+% lettuce and beets, maaybe 5% lobster), and the flavor of the whole thing was a bit strange. I would not order it for any price let alone twice what we paid for anything else. The interior, atmosphere, and view are all nice, a lot of thought has been put into the restaurant. I just don't think our visit warrants five stars given only one of four items ordered exceeded expectations, and one was definitively below. Will definitely try out the dinner menu at some point. read more

My cousin and I just left Soleil Destin and I can honestly without hesitation say that the meal was awful. We has two different t oyster selections and the oysters were invisible in both selections. Judy had a soup that had 1 shrimp let me repeat one shrimp when it advertised a selection of seafood, my tomato salad had one heirloom tomato and supposedly buratta cheese which was not present but the tomato was good. One slice of tomato for $16.00. Then thank God we shared a lobster/pasta dish that literally was awful. I have eaten at a thousand restaurants both here in the U.S. and internationally and can tell you without any doubt that this was the worst meal I have ever paid for. Please don't waste your money or believe any of the reviews because the chef would have had to pay them to lie!! read more

This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend as an upscale destination with great food and ambiance. No on both accounts. We went for my husband's birthday, and took our 2 16yos. The restaurant is inside the Inn and Crystal Beach. This is an older building that is stuck in the 80's. The restaurant is accessed either through the main lobby, then downstairs, or from the basement parking garage. It is right on the beach, so under decent weather conditions, sitting outside would be lovely. It was drizzling the night we went, so we chose to be inside.The decor reminds me of an 80's country club snack bar. All cream flooring, walls, seating. They use pastel green napkins and plastic florals on the tables. We were greeted by a lovely, cheerful server who sat us and offered us drinks. We asked for waters to start. She brought them and offered starters, which we ordered. My husband and I shared the wedge salad and my son ordered BBQ wings. She never asked if we wanted other drinks and never refilled our waters until all 4 glasses were empty, and had been empty for ages. There were only 2 other tables occupied at the time. It was 6:30 on a Sunday. The wedge was a decent size but sloppy. There was barely a drizzle of watery blue cheese, a smattering of crumbles and a little bit of bacon. I will say the pickled onions were a nice touch and the bacon was fresh. The wings were just ok. For our mains, we had filet mignon, scallops and the shrimp risotto. My daughter took a few bites of her filet and declared it tasted metallic. I tasted it and I think it was the seasoning. It wasn't bad, but not great either. The scallops were perfecty cooked, but the corn/lime salsa was weird. The au gratin potatoes were awful. Dry and tough and unseasoned. The onion rings were good. My husband said the shrimp risotto was just ok. We will not be back, as there are lots of mediocre restaurants to choose from in Destin. read more

Had brunch there yesterday. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table when there were approx 10 open. Waited 10 minutes for server to appear. All wines by the glass are on tap. Not my favorite. Waited 45 minutes for food which came out cold. Had to ask bartender twice to find our server for service. I could understand if they were busy, but a few employees just standing around. The marketing was so good because we were so excited to enjoy what we thought would be an elegant style dinner. For some reason it took about 30 minutes to be seated when there were approximately 2 tables occupied in the entire restaurant. Upon being seated we were greeted by out waitress that we would pretty much never see again. After we ordered we waited atleast 45 minutes for our room temperature food. The scallops were chewy, gritty, and bland. Bland is the key word for this entire menu really. The french onion soup tasted like beef stock out of the box. We asked the waitress how the truffle mashed potatoes are and she replied that most people enjoy them but sometimes dislike the overwhelming truffle flavor. Unfortunately they quite closely resemble the flavor of plain powdered instant mashed potatoes, which is painful considering the prices of this restaurant. the portions were very small- which we were okay with originally when under the assumption it would be a very nice upscale dinning experience. We choose this restaurant due to the photos online looking so yummy and the view. Oh we're we wrong.... We waited 45+ minutes for our food, and was a party of 3, out of maybe 5 other tables. The food was bland beyond belief, the service was borderline nonexistent, it was extremely overpriced for the quality, the portions were so small, and almost every food item (mashed potatoes, Cesar dressing, French onion soup, etc) tasted prepackaged. The "truffle mashed potatoes" had zero flavor, and were super dry/crumbly. I was told my scallops would come with carrots and asparagus, but actually came out with broccoli STEMS and (very) hard green beans. The scallops were rubbery, BLAND, and gritty. The $18 calamari we ordered as an appetizer came with no more than 15 little pieces. On top of all that, when it was time for us to pay, our waitress held out a device for us to tip on and proceeded to stare as we selected a tip amount. read more

After two terrible experiences I had to share thoughts. -sat 45 min late second time, 15 min late first time w reservations -no drink consistency, every espresso martini tasted so different -pastry chef not in house so no dessert exceptions, on a Saturday night -not able to accommodate large parties had to sit at separate tables both times -we were brought the wrong food twice and then it was sat down then awkwardly taken away as if they would serve it elsewhere -waitress first time was not good, never refilled water, forgot drink orders -it's in a hotel breakfast area -condos ruin outdoor atmosphere -bar has nothing to offer.. no tahin, no sparkling water, wine only on tap -lastly the food is not good, it's trying to be boujee but overall mediocre. We got the lobster risotto which was bland (the first time the beet risotto was actually good but they changed the menu.. also they changed the caprese salad to have one different ingredient the second time we came.. just kind of weird) the entrees are over done yet have no flavor. -wait one more thing, they make u order everything at once and don't allow for exception to that. Overall management was rude when we asked for things to be fixed, one lady actually spoke in a loud voice that "this is a five star restaurant and you need to follow our protocol" lol ok.. you're fun . I have been waiting to try this place since it opened. I finally made it to Destin and of course I had to check it out. My husband and I dined On a Friday night at 7:30. When we arrived there was no valet as they sent him home early, and parking was limited. The restaurant is beautiful but that is about as good as it gets. This restaurant tries to be fine dining but the servers need major training. There was no pre bussing between courses, no silverware changes, no quality checks after each course, and we had to ask for water refills. The food is nothing spectacular either. For starters we ordered the snapper ceviche which was way too acidic and the seafood bouillabaisse which was actually good. For our entrees we had the fried fish which was ok and the lobster americaine which was also just ok. We skipped on dessert as the rest of the meal was forgettable. There was a couple next to us who told us they were upset because their server made them place their entire order from start to finish as soon as they sat down since they were closing in an hour. They also said their service and food was just ok. Another table got up and left shortly after being seated. Unfortunately this place is a disappointment. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

We were staying at The Inn at Crystal Beach from Christmas Eve 2022 until New Year's Eve, we had been here before when it was called "790 on the Gulf Waterfront Restaurant"....and it was always just okay....we heard that the new "Soleil" was good so we had reservations for Wednesday night but the place was empty so we went to Lou Lou's....which was okay....on our last night here we decided to just get takeout from the bar and eat in our condo....OMG!!! we should have eaten here every night, the food was amazing, the gumbo was as good as I've ever had, and I've been to New Orleans dozens of times, the chicken piccata was equally delicious, very moist and the potatoes with sautéed mushrooms melted in your mouth, we also had two of the salads and they were great, I would love to try everything on the menu and hope to when we come back for spring break, kudos and compliments to the chef and staff, very pleased that this was our last dinner before heading home. read more

I would give them a negative star if possible. I am a local and this place has a magnificent view to bring visitors too.......but, THEY HAVE NO CONCEPT OF SERVICE. I have been here a dozen times over the last 18 months. The service is never very good. My (my guests) orders have been wrong.....but, I knew they were "new" several months ago, and kept thinking this would get better. I had a reservation on 6/9. We arrived 10 minutes early - there is NO one to greet guests until the minute they open, evidently, at 11 on this day. I left a note on the waitress stand stating we were outside, enjoying the view, please confirm seating when you are ready. Nothing. Staff came out and put place settings on every table but ours. No eye contact. At 11, someone came out and sat two separate tables - again, no one looked at us......forget bringing us menus. After the other two tables had been brought water and drinks......I went in to ask about menus. The hostess did walk menus out at that point. And, then another 10 minutes of nothing. It was a very warm day - I went back in and ask for waters, ASAP, and let them know we would like to order.........two attendants assured me they would be "right out"...........after a few more minutes......and dying of thirst, we gave up. As we were on our way in, they were finally coming out with the water........There was no real concern for our disappointment.......more like smirking, with an obligatory "we're sorry". I am a local. I have many friends that visit.......I will not be bringing any of my guests there again / I will not be back. read more

I was really excited to try this new place. I ordered my steak well done. It was served red. I asked them to fix it and it was served crunchy. No steak sauce was available. I was still charged for an inedible meal. I also ordered the soleil caprese. It was one piece of tomato with a massive amount of seaweed and some fluff. The drinks were pretty good. We went to Soleil on a recommendation from a local about the "new swanky restaurant". It did not disappoint!! The chef signed a menu for our honeymoon making us feel special from the beginning. We loved the fact that the menu had suggested wine pairings next to each dish so that you could match 2 or more dishes with a glass if you wanted. We ordered the roasted oysters and they were the best we've eaten in Destin. Next we had the pea vichyssoise which was our second favorite dish. It was unique, beautifully presented and the base perfectly complimented the flavor-packed oils. The crab cake was a little too creamy for my taste but is a popular dish. Lastly we had the scallops and they were absolutely perfect. The surface perfectly seared and crispy, the meat melted in your mouth and the sides complimented but didn't overpower the delicate flavor of the scallops.
