Okaloosa Island dining at its finest. We were staying on Okaloosa Island and looking for a restaurant that was in walking distance. After a quick Yelp search, we learned about The Remedy. It can be tricky to find but is located on the bottom floor of the Beal House. They have outside seating with views of the dunes. It was drizzling the day we went so we decided to sit inside. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos. They were good. They came with French fries, but I wish there were more side options. The service was great and I loved the reggae music that they were playing. It really set the vibe.

I enjoyed sitting outside and listening the ocean . I wish the pancakes came with sides or something else . They were fluffy and yummy ! I enjoyed a seasonal cocktail which was very refreshing since the drinks are great here. Service was great my server immediately came to me a was very kind , friendly and just an all around wonderful women .

Found this place on Yelp and drove over from our hotel to try the fish tacos for lunch. We got there around 1pm only to find out they don't serve lunch until 2pm. What?!? Who does that! I even told the waitress that we came there just for the tacos and she said sorry only breakfast until 2pm. Crazy thing I noticed that the Daily Catch Sandwich had all of the same ingredients of the tacos minus the salsa and substituting the tortillas with a bun. When waitress came back to table, I asked if I could just order that and substitute the tortillas. Seems like this is something that should've been offered from the get go. Once she got approval from the kitchen, that's what I ordered. My mom got the chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed our meal and would go back again mindful that lunch doesn't start till 2pm. Cute little hole in the wall restaurant decorated with beach colors. Multiple TV screens blast the day's football games. Would've been nice if the volume would've been a little lower on those since the loud broadcast overtook the small dining space. Paid parking is required to eat here since it's located at a hotel. However, don't pay, and just come to restaurant and ask waitress for validated parking pass.

Ambience Let's start there. Everything was inviting--the decor, paint colors, furnishings. It's a beach theme that's refreshing and relaxing. We like it so much that the style will serve as inspiration for a refresh of our guest room. Service We had great service. The bartender was also the server when we went. He was friendly, fast, and accommodating. Food Boom Boom Shrimp--9/10; shrimp were crispy and tender; could use more sauce; mango slaw was surprisingly tasty Skirt Steak Tacos--8/10; steak was tender and seasoned Fried Grouper Tacos--7/10; if you like grouper, you'll probably enjoy these tacos.

Down the street (or beach) from our hotel, made this an easy choice for us to visit. We sat outside, enjoying the breeze on this balmy November afternoon. The staff was very attentive to us, getting and bring our drink order while we perused the menu. We opted to split the grouper sandwich as we only needed something to hold us over until dinner, and who wants to overeat when beach time was up next. My wife enjoyed a glass of rosé and I had a Hendricks and tonic. Thank you for having tonic that was not flat. The sandwich was very good, cooked perfectly and a large portion of fish. Most sandwiches i have had in the past load up on the toppings to disguise the smaller portion of the protein, not here though. The french fries were plentiful and cooked the way we like them. Good crunch with a softer center. Thank you for a great light lunch

Having an upscale restaurant in the Florida panhandle is not an easy feat. The reason is quite simple: people are simply not used to upscale dining. It's not a bad thing either. The Remedy is the primary restaurant of freshly opened Beal House hotel, reinventing the budget property that once stood in its place. The remedy has a focus on creole food and they do an excellent job on several dishes. Dishes like the gulf grouper over a potato pancake prove it. Fresh, juicy and cajun, merged into a wonderful dish. Chicken Wings did seem to make my stomach upset the next day (and I can't imagine it's the spice since I eat much spicier food on regular basis). Shrimp appetizer is phenomenal. Grouper tacos are nice, but sadly very little grouper on them. Gumbo is best skipped, there is minimal seafood in it (literally two medium shrimp) and overall profile of it is not something to highlight. A bit more variety on the toppings for dishes could be a good thing, although the kale based topping is great that comes on most dishes, but it should not be the only thing. The design, the food and the people, The Remedy is a good restaurant.

    Florabama benedict

Stopped in for breakfast one if the days we stayed at the Beal house. The food was good, florabama benedict was a different twist on theclassic egg benedict with shrimp in it. Compared to the Asiago skillet, we liked Asiago sklet a notch better for portion sizes and taste.

The food is DELICIOUS and cooked fresh!! Happy that the fish of the day is Grouper - my favorite. Tried the fish (grouper) and chips one day (piping hot, great batter) and the perfectly grilled grouper with potato cakes and broccolini another night - it comes with a sauce that could be its own gumbo-thick and popping! The beignets are more like fried donuts with chocolate and raspberry sauce - very good! The beautiful location on the beach makes it 6 starts and the staff make it 10 stars!

Second visit with a new guest! 10 stars would be accurate and I literally tell anyone who asks that we met! Staff is spot on and manager is Devine! Coffee is delicious but breakfast! Chef's kiss! had both Bennie's and the crawfish one . Cutest place for breakfast

it says 11am-2pm but isn't any at the time of brunch

Where is the gumbo! Honestly speaking not to be disrespectful but i drove in from georgia just for the gumbo and i get here at 11am. why isn't the gumbo cooking in rotation and it wasn't any left by 11 im confused

Bar area! Cute little brunch place.

So to begin service was a little slow. They have an open kitchen which depending on what kind of person you are can be a good or bad thing. Update: We watched our food sit for over 15 minutes completed. It was cold when they brought it. Possibly miscommunication with the kitchen but still unacceptable. It was not very busy so I'm not sure where the confusion came in. Pros - mimosa refills are $4 lol - nice view if you want to sit outside Cons -service could be more efficient but it could just be an off day for them. -parking is confusing. There were many cars with tickets when we pulled up so we were hesitant on where to park. Overall the food was good. The service definitely made the experience lack luster. However the chef and the server apologized which I appreciated. If you're in the area still worth a try!

Two really terrible cocktails. At dinner time on the big screen they had a show on showing a heart transplant operation.

We were at the best table in the house. We were a difficult party with three separate checks but no one sat next to or across from their spouse so amazing Josiah (sp) got all our orders right and our checks were all correct too! Being all retired, some of us are hard of hearing and he had to repeat himself several times. Also, we had lots of questions and special needs. Josiah handled us warmly and did an amazing job. Here is how good he is- the stage lights were shining right in our eyes and one of the ladies in our party asked him to turn them down. The eldest of us laughed at her saying the waiter had no control over the band. Next thing we knew, the band's sights and sounds technician stopped at our table and adjusted the lights for us. Wow!!!!

She was definitely the highlight of our visit. That said, the food pricing was hard to justify for the location and overall experience. I've dined at fine dining restaurants before, and these prices felt excessive. Charging premium prices for items like a surf and turf that comes with shrimp instead of lobster just didn't match the value. While the food was decent, the cost didn't reflect what was served. I'd return for Madison's outstanding service, but the menu prices would make me think twice.

It looked like a nice, relaxing, elevated restaurant we could relax at after a day of excursions. It really wasn't that. After spending most of our days eating at the themed surf restaurants that decorate with shark heads, surfboards and tiki lights. We had hoped this would be a change, it's really not. It may not be grossly decorated with those tiki-style items, but most certainly is that same type of restaurant. It's not elegant, it's not elevated and its most certainly, not relaxing. The food was very good, the service from our waitress, Savannah was mediocre. She seemed bored or maybe having a bad night and was doing her best to cover it with a smile. We ate up at the skybar which does have a very lovely view. The high-top table and chairs are uncomfortable. My wife and I had to come off the chairs to stand next to the table for a few moments because the chairs were so uncomfortable. As far as their food goes, I had the shrimp tacos. They were made with very fresh tasting ingredients and the shrimp wasdelicious. At least the 2 pieces per taco they came with. Most of what was in the taco was just the filling. $22.00 for two tacos I expected more shrimp. My wife's Grouper Moreno and the conch fritter appetizer were both delicious. Dessert was the salted caramel cheesecake which was good, but ridiculously sweet (as you'd expect it to be) Overall, the food was very good though the tacos could have included more shrimp then they did. The service was just okay. The restaurant itself is nice, but not the quiet relaxing place it looks like on their website. It's just another surf themed style restaurant, without all the gaudy decorations.
