    Solgens customer service.
    Mike C.

After 2 years we are finally generating but not even enough to cover the interest on the loan. They continuously fought us on repairs and loss of generation.. now we are probably going to court.

First snow of the year. Just shovel it!!

We thought we were being wise to get solar pa els installed, did some research and found that solgen was the largest and most installs. Informed them that we live in a snow area and can get a couple feet through the winter. Asked if panels would interfere with collecting snow or melting snow. We were informed it would not be an issue. Design team sent out a team to take pictures of roof and measurements. Again, asked if snow accumulation would be an issue, was informed that it shouldn't, should slide off panels. Well, winter hits, we get snow as we normally do and guess the design teM thought placing panels 5 feet apart would be cool. Snow builds up, slides down panels and stops between panel rows. Snow keeps falling and accumulating in one spot. Builds a dam of snow 5 foot deep between the panel rows. We call solgen and get transferred from one person to another, get the comment that they will look into it. Finally, decided to email in order to have it in writing. We went through 5 people all apoligizing for the issue, but they would have to talk to a supervisor. Finally, get a response after weeks of getting jacked around, " you will need to get up on the roof and shovel it". This is the fix from them. After months of dealing with different people and asking if there is a manager or even an owner to talk to i get told the owners don't like to deal with homeowners. So, even though i suggested a simple fix of a transition strip to allow the snow to slide off the roof, i am told the design team doesn't know how to do that. So, now i paid 65k for panels and i have to design something to prevent my roof from caving in with snow. Beware that even if you ask them questions and voicing your concerns a solgen representative will sell you a lemon in a Ferrari package. Not a great company. Not intuned with their clients needs. Even though i would suggest solar panels i would not suggest Solgen. Do some research and get everything in writing. Lets hope they won't be getting sued for a new roof.. Hope this helps someone.

If a house requires retrofitting for solar panels to be placed on the roof, is the retrofit to be done before solar panels are installed on the roof? If yes, what are the possible problems if panels are placed before the retrofit is done?

This all depends on the complexity of the retrofit and whether or not the city requires it. In general, the retrofit doesn’t necessarily have to take place before the install, as the retrofit is being done to assure that the structure integrity is…

Extremely dissatisfied with the quality of craftsmanship for what these screens cost. The screen in…read morefront isn't even tight in the frame as you can see in the picture. They are made out of the truck at your home. When I asked how they would be mounted I was told tabs, never told they would be screwed into my home. Not only that but they are done fast and the tab isn't even long enough to cover the screw and you can see they aren't even in straight. Have a big window in front that as a little window above asked about 2 screens and was told normally they do one but can put a decorative bar to help with aesthetics but when installers came I asked why it wasn't done and they said they couldn't do it and not sure why I was told as such by the salesman. No return envelope and I hadn't even had the bill 3 days and I was being called asking where my payment was. I got the bill on Friday and I literally put it in the mail for outgoing on Saturday. I asked to pay to the salesman and the installer and both said no an invoice was sent and just send in the payment. I did bring up my dissatisfaction with the owner he did offer to eat the cost and remove the screens from my home however I would be left with the screw holes I was unaware that would be put in. As also seen in picture one screen isn't tight as a wrinkle in it. He proceeded to state that I must not be from here (I'm born and raised) to not know the high quality product he offers. Paperwork also stated a 15 year warranty but I was told lifetime and when I asked about that was told well as long as he owns the business he will take care of it but he is in 70, so when he sales he can't guarantee what new owner will do.

High Desert Solar Shields are custom made here in the Tri-Cities and installation is hassle free. The back of our house is angled southeast and gets the sunlight all day/year long. In the summer it's nearly unbearable and even in the winter the light is overwhelming. These solar screens take care of both issues - our house has been significantly cooler since installing the screens. We still get light, but no longer are counters/appliances/furniture warm/hot to the touch. Quite incredible! Another great benefit to these screens is the wind block factor. Even if it's windy/stormy - we can have the windows open and the screens block nearly everything - you cannot feel or hear wind even when it's 50+mph - again absolutely amazing! I highly recommend them to any home owner in the Tri-Cities or Eastern Washington!

It's hard to imagine that you would look forward to your contractors coming and disrupting your life and house every day creating dust and chaos to your life, but this is the case with Switch and their whole team. Their professionalism, care, and concern went above and beyond. Thoughtful communication happened everyday which allowed us to avoid problems and keep the job moving along. It was also clear from our inspection that they were a respected business with excellent reputation and that efficiency was part of the plan in the whole switchover from knob and tube to the new system. From initial contact with Victoria Burke who was quick to call back, to Riley McLaughlin who assessed the project and helped us understand the components and challenges, to Michael Krummeck and Colter McKeown who were on the job every day, they were all a joy to work with. We gladly would hire them again and are planning to call them for the next electrical project.
