I had also recently had another Corian surface installed by another firm, so I have a good frame of comparison. TWD did excellent, and superior, work. They were exceedingly prompt and punctual, had an efficient and friendly office staff, and offered a significantly better price. They used a really cool laser templating system, and the person who came to do the template was extremely knowledgeable. He was even able to show me a 3D rendering on the spot. Compared to the firm that installed my other countertop, TWD was a dream to deal with. They were extremely professional at every step in the process, and the end product is lovely. If I have any complaint, it would be that the guys who did the install weren't exactly the friendliest in the world, and seemed exceedingly rushed (they left a literal *pile* of Corian dust on my floor), but the quality of the work was good and it was done efficiently. And they actually took the trouble to show up right on top, which is a rare and much appreciated trait in workmen. All in all, I would happily recommend TWD.

Incompetent. Unhelpful. Rude…read more TWD was hired through Home Depot to install new kitchen counter tops at our house. A job that should have been done in one day ended up taking three days, due to the incompetence of the worker who measured our counters in the first place. We tore out our kitchen sink and old counter in preparation for their arrival on the scheduled day, only for their team to tell us they could not install as planned because our cabinets were not level. This was the same team who had spent an hour in our home on an earlier date making measurements. I guess they didn't notice they weren't level at that time. Rather than help me fix the problem (something a counter top installer should be well prepared to do), they left, leaving us with a kitchen that had no sink and no counter. I (by no means a handyman), was able to make the cabinets level in less than 15 minutes. Another crew came back 4 days later, only to discover that the first guy had measured wrong, and the counters they brought would not fit. They had to come out a third time to finally get the counters in, leaving us without a complete kitchen for a week and a half. I had to take multiple unplanned days off of work and incurred additional charges from not having a functional kitchen for over a week (takeout food, etc). When I contacted TWD to discuss reimbursement for the many inconveniences caused by their incompetence, I was told "we don't do that." You don't do that? You don't fix mistakes that you make? You don't try to correct problems that you have caused? WTF TWD? The manager I spoke with was very rude and unhelpful. He just kept repeating that "these things happen". Sure, these things happen. But when it's your fault that they are happening, you need to correct it! The concept was lost on him. It seems as though their approach to customer service and quality control is essentially "tough $#!+". I sent a disappointed email to the owner, in the hopes that he might be a bit more responsive to the errors committed by his employees, but of course I never received a response. To top it all off, the crew that finally did install our counters ended up stripping the finish right off of our kitchen table by carelessly placing some sort of hot tool there (which they didn't tell us about), so that needs to be replaced as well. I could try to argue with TWD about that as well, but you know, "we don't do that". I would advise people to think very carefully before hiring this sorry excuse for a company. I am happy to hear that my local Home Depot has stopped hiring them. You should consider going the same route.

This company installed granite countertops in my newly remodeled kitchen seven years ago. While the…read moreoverall work was acceptable, the seams between the granite pieces were not properly sealed. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this at the time and ended up spending thousands of dollars repainting my cabinets, only to recently learn from another contractor that water had been seeping through the faulty seam all along, causing additional damage. When I contacted the company, they asked for $300 to reseal it, which feels unreasonable given that this appears to be an installation issue. I even offered to wait until they were working in the area, since it's a quick fix, but they were not willing to accommodate. I would recommend looking for a company that stands behind its work and provides better long-term support. Also, if possible, avoid placing seams near the sink--what seems like a minor detail can lead to significant damage over time.

I was in need of a small piece of Carrera marble for a restored antique drinks cart which I was giving my wife for her birthday. It had been in her family for generations. I had been working with a marble and granite company in Waltham for months and at the last minute they doubled the price and extended the delivery deadline. I had also received universally poor experiences with several other fabricators in and around Newton, Watertown and Waltham and held out no hope that I would find any company in the business that was different. I called Stone Depot and spoke with Cynthia. Wow, what a difference. She was helpful and responsive and immediately sent me pictures of the Carrera marble slabs they had in stock. Her price was 2/3rds that of everyone else's, and she promised to have it fabricated in under a week. I drove down there, and we agreed together on the piece they would cut. 3 days later it was done and ready for pickup. She had pushed it through because of the fact that it was for my wife's birthday. I cannot recommend Stone Depot in Dedham enough. Cynthia is amazing and the team did a fabulous job delivering ahead of time. If you want to work with a company that is a delight, fabricates a fantastic product, and over-delivers on their promises then you should check Stone Depot out. You won't regret it.
