Cute little cafe that offers breakfast and lunch all day. Ordered siragusa pear turkey and Brie panini, tuna salad and a latte. The salad was refreshing with decent portion of tunas. The panini was quite good too however it would be much better with a slice of pickle. Overall a pleasant experience and would stop here again. read more

Excellent experience here. The inside is a cozy cafe with lots of seating and cute mosaic art pieces. Lots of variety when it comes to coffee and pastries. Staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations for our morning coffee. The latte was excellent with a cute design on top. The blackberry scone was fantastic, not too sweet. read more

The staff was friendly and the service was quick which I appreciated. I liked the casual atmosphere with the large windows and easy access to the outdoor patio but the food was disappointing. I ordered the tuna sandwich after it was highly recommended by a tour guide but it lacked filling and the little filling it had was nothing special and the maple walnut cookie lacked flavor and seemed as if it wasn't the freshest. read more

We happened upon this shop when we were looking to caffeinate before driving home. It was a solid fine. Located in the main downtown corridor, they had plenty of different caffeinated options, as well as delightful, iced tea. My wife is quite the tea connoisseur and the iced tea they had here was quite nice! A little fruity, but not annoyingly so. My cold brew was pretty standard. They had a ton of cookies, some baked good and even a little shelf with local hot sauces and honey for purchase. The only negative was the physical layout of the store. You come down two stairs after entering the shop and then queue up. With more than one or two people waiting, it was a bit crowded - enough so that you're in the space of people sitting inside. Not a huge deal, but something to consider when you're figuring out where to sit! The iced tea gave them the five star bump and if you're a tea lover, it'll do the same for you! read more

A pretty busy coffee shop, with lots of people ordering back to back, but the staff takes care of everyone quick. Hot coffee ready right away and a latte in just a few minutes. Stopped by here on a road trip. I was hungry so ordered the ham and brie panini and an espresso over ice. The panini was great although it was on the smaller side for the price. It came with a small bag of chips as well. The espresso was good as well. It took about 15 minutes for them to make my sandwich. Overall, everything was delicious, just a bit on the pricier side for the portion size. read more

Great Vanilla oat milk iced latte. It was smooth, good strength, and not bitter. I enjoyed this a lot. You know when you try a new coffee place and you're always hoping for something a little different than your routine coffee experience, something a little surprising, and delicious, but you don't really know what or how...yea, this did it for me! I didn't think the blueberry muffin was going to be anything special, but my family and I liked it a lot. A little pricey, but good value for a treat. The pastry shelves were a bit sparse this time of day so not much to choose from. I'd come here again. Parking: For a Saturday on Easter weekend at 4pm it was easy to find street parking near the downtown shopping strip. Most are parallel parking spots. Don't forget to pay at the meter. Cool, modern breakfast spot with lots of fun drinks and breakfast/lunch items. Their Breakfast Sandwich was tasty and the Mexican Mocha was a treat. The Cortado was nice and strong as well. Definitely a popular spot in town so seatings can be limited. read more

Got an Iced Tea, and a Cappuccino, very centrally located, great indoor and outdoor seating, and easy to understand and manage menu for a coffee spot, you can tell this is a great meeting spot for many. Service was quick and definitely more genuinely enjoyed by the staff, which is nice to see. The vibe was one of caffeine, laughter, and future ambitions or adventures. Such a nice spot. read more

Visited Hood River and Looked for a bit of lunch at noon. It was not busy but the counter gal was rude and not at all easy to understand. We ordered sandwiches and asked about drinks, she pointed to a small cooler with bottled juices. Staff stood around talking so we didn't order coffee to go or pastries as planned. I would rate this place a 3.5!!! The best thing about this place is the location. It's always very packed (which is great for them!) but the food itself is nothing special. It's made with care. It's got enough flavor but def not something different or extremely yummy. Their coffee is good. And I came here a lot to read and drink some coffee! They have gluten free options and vegan options (the vegan options have soy). The people that work there are very friendly. I don't feel like they know a lot about all of the allergens. Every time I asked a question everyone seemed to be assuming. read more

I got the iced coconut latte, my fiancé got the iced vanilla latte. Both were delicious and the perfect level of sweetness (which is not too sweet). The staff is nice the place nice the ambience is busy but laid back. The food smelled amazing but we'd already eaten. Maybe next time! read more

Went to Doppio for the first time a few weeks ago when they advertised an affogato special for Labor Day. I've passed by it many times and always been intrigued by the big, dining room windows that open up to the patio, creating an open air feeling inside. The affogato was a nice treat to stop in for, although it was limited time offering as far as I know. Hood River OR Rode the Harley and took M for the day. Really hungry about 1pm and we parked the bike and looked at 5 or 6 menus up and down the street before we found this place. So glad we couldn't agree in a menu until here. The food was amazing. Seating was pretty good and they fill orders pretty quickly. When I think of "good coffee shop," Doppio is the vibe I am thinking of. It is in a great location, right in the heart of downtown Hood River. They have nice big windows which open onto a giant patio. On summer weekends, Portlanders flock here and you will see them enjoying treats. The quality is high (8/10), the vibe is good (9/10), and service is friendly. My partner and her friend were heading out to Hood River for a concert, and I said "drop me off at Doppio and I'll do my work from there". Good call -- it's always an enjoyable experience. This afternoon, I had a cold brew (7/10) with oat milk, and a blueberry scone (8/10). read more

We really enjoy grabbing breakfast or brunch at Doppio when we are in Hood River. Found it a couple of years ago literally walking from the toy store to the book store. Great egg sandwiches and cleverly decorated drinks. I am having a #1 right now - egg, sausage, and cheddar on a ciabatta. For a dink I chose the Peach Ring Lemonade. Wife is having oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar. Listening to great 80's music and relaxing before a drive. Cool indoor seating and two levels of outdoor seating. Really good coffee! We both had vanilla lattes. Mine didn't seem like it had any in it. I asked last second so I think they may have forgotten - no big deal. I dumped some brown sugar and cinnamon in it- good to go. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was clean and simple- earthy, I liked it. Several people doing stuff on their laptops so I presume they have WiFi. I would definitely return. read more

Great quick lunch spot. We got the mango smoothie and a peach pear apricot smoothie and they were both delicious. For lunch I'd recommend the BLAT - a delicious BLT with avocado and mixed greens on sourdough. Salads are also yummy. Friendly staff with lots of table seating. read more

While I usually frequent Dog River Coffee when I visit this charming town, I enjoy the vibe here too. I'm drawn to breakfast sandwiches, and the menu provides ample choices including a yummy veggie sausage. It's not a super standout, but is better than average and I'd order it again. In the photo it included shredded cabbage (which is preferred), but mine came with leaf spinach. They also offer a nice basket selection of hot sauces, including two they sell by the bottle. I also enjoyed the Thai Iced coffee, thankfully, it's not as sweet as what you might be accustomed to at a Thai restaurant. Very friendly and fast service and COVID-aware. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Michael B.

I discovered Hood River, OR in 2003 while on a 1 year RV adventure. I immediately fell in love with the town and the many outdoor activities that are all right here. After 15 years as an international corporate warrior for Mercedes-Benz, I finally realized my dream of moving to the Columbia Gorge when I purchased Doppio in 2006. I wanted to create an atmosphere here that reflected my roots, bringing a little of Europe with me to the US. We have also adapted to our wonderful surroundings, focusing on the rich coffee culture of the Northwest and providing fresh, delicious foods from the bounty of the Columbia River Gorge.

They took precautions to minimize cross-contact with gluten items, including wrapping the sandwich up separately and bringing it out to us first before bringing out our gluten containing items. The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision. All in all, a good experience, just expect to pay a little more if you are going to shop or eat there!

Everyone else is already finishing up their drinks and meals. Wanting just one drink after a long day, I head to the bar! My wife asks me to get her one too. Here's where it gets bizarre. Kickstand has a bar...well, it looks like a bar. But what I found out is that it's just for looks because it doesn't act like a bar. I thought ordering two cocktails and paying for my drinks would be easy, like it is at every bar in town. But the bartender, I mean employee standing behind a bar, asked if I was with the large group. I stated, "yes, I was." Then she proceeded to tell me that the drinks would be on someone's tab. But I showed up late...I don't know what's happening. I don't know who's paying for the "tab". I just wanted to buy two drinks and walk away. But that wasn't allowed at Kickstand. Then another employee walks up and attempts to take my drink order. Super confused, I tell her the employee standing behind the bar just took my drink order. And then we proceeded down the tab conversation again. The second employee said because "we" were a party of 8 or more, I couldn't pay for my own drinks and I they would have to put it on the party's tab. But again, I don't know who owns the tab. If it was the woman having the birthday, I didn't want to add to her bill...on her birthday. Then they suggested I "could just Venmo" the party girl. No! I want to just order two drinks and have Kickstand take my money. Why wouldn't they just take my money?! The place was dead tonight, other than the 5 or so small daycarel families, sitting at their own tables, that made up the "party". I canceled my drink order and walked away out of protest and principal. When asked if I was with the big party, I should have said no I guess. Lesson leaned for next time, if there is a next time. The croissant was super flaky and I like that it wasn't so thick, so it was easy to eat, and our kids enjoyed it which is always a bonus! The breakfast biscuit sandwiches were huge and there was no shortage of egg in there. I also got to try the Tropical Matcha which had housemade mango syrup and passionfruit cold cream. It was really fruity and the matcha was actually nice and smooth, not too milky! I drank the whole thing super fast which is a sign of a delicious drink. I was surprised to find good matcha here in Hood River but it was a pleasant surprise and perfect way to start the day.

Some time passed and that changed and they indeed did get such a set up. Located in Hood River, The Walled Garden is just such a place that has the brewery's in taproom/tasting room presentation. This space is set up really cool as there are gifts that you can purchase here as well as get food and their beer fresh off of the tap. We had quite a few places to visit while in town and didn't stop for a full fledged meal but it certainly looked tempting. While we were here I tried to get a beer that I haven't had before. I got The Bell which is a dark mild type of beer. It was good and a nice kick off to all of the other brewery stops here in town we had planned. This beer has a malty flavor which is pleasant and the ABV is manageably low. The beer is light bodied and nice and smooth. Other beers of the past that I highly recommend from Kings & Daughters are the Queens & Sons. I don't often drop a really high rating on Untapped for IPA' s typically but this one was excellent. Everything in the flavor profile was great. The bitterness of the hops and how all of that flowed together with the rest of the beer was just fantastic. Moving back to darker beer again another beer from Kings & Daughters that I really like is the Wintering Stout. This stout is just amazing and was another beer that I rated highly again on the Untapped app. The flavors you will find in this lovely beer are roastiness, toastiness, an earthiness and a hint of tobacco (in the best way possible) . Kings & Daughters cranks out amazing beers. I want to say that I have had a few more but I don't have them down in my records but I do recall having the consistent feeling of being quite pleased with this brewery each and every time. They make beers that aren't too intimidating to the average beer drinker but at the same time manage to be creative so more specialized beer drinkers( or beer drinkers who like more experimental beers) won't get bored with their offerings.
