Which turned out to be for the best, because the next call I placed was to Pacific Appliance Repair, who were able to schedule a service appointment for me the following day. A very nice father and son team showed up the next morning (on the earlier side of the appointment window, no less), and were able to diagnose and fix the problem (capacitor and wiring issue) in less than an hour, enabling me to type out this review in cool comfort.

They were able to send someone out that afternoon. Armen was great -- he was patient and checked a bunch of things. Unfortunately it turned out to be the control board. He took it out, cleaned it, and found the issue with the board. To save me some money and time, he attempted to repair the board directly, busting out his soldering iron and components. I called a few places but chose Prime Repair because they quoted me a reasonable fee on the phone, excluding parts. Other places I called wouldn't even offer me a ballpark quote. I appreciated that up front honesty on the phone, and the repair technician John who showed up was a good reflection of that honesty. He came to fix the problem, honestly. He re-balanced the dishwasher to fix the leak, charged me the rate that was quoted over the phone, and also went the extra mile to thoroughly assess the root of the problem -- the poor installation. Unfortunately, the people who had renovated the kitchen before I had purchased the house installed a cabinet without proper materials to allow a dishwasher to be properly attached, so the dishwasher -- which was supposed to be attached on both sides, was loosely attached only on one and was basically free-standing in the cabinet. I can't thank John enough for the effort he put in -- pulling the dishwasher out more than once to not only assess the situation but to install it as best as possible given the circumstances. He also suggested a solution to this problem -- using a specialized bracket to attach the back of the dishwasher to the floor -- which is what I plan to do in the near future. And I will be calling Prime Repair to get that job done.
