Hired Pete to stack my washer and dryer - along with providing an affordable rate, Prolific appliance was the only folks who gave me a quote without charging a diagnostic fee - most repair places didn't seem to understand the difference between repair and installation - the latter should be a free estimate with a few pictures/questions answered. Resident of Pasadena, CA. Our LG front loading dryer (floor based) developed noticeable 'clunking' sounds on each cycle. Like putting sneakers in a dryer. We've had this dryer for 8 years and never had an issued. Hooked up with Pete, the owner of Prolific Appliance Repair. We coordinated and he came out the next day - right on time. He charges $50 for an initial visit he explained but made it very clear that if after the initial review visit that work was required, the $50 would be applied to the repairs. In two hours, in disassembled the dryer, found the problem (aging drum roller and its deteriorating shaft). He replaced them both since he had the parts in is auto. He also check the other drum rollers and shafts and gave them a thumbs up - he also greased them for future issues. He completely cleaned out all the accumulated lint from our drier (quite a bit - I am embarrassed) and also had a new lint filter on him (our old one had a bit of a break) which he gave us. Total cost for two hours of work and all the parts was $290. I expected much much more cost. I asked him if it wouldn't be better to buy a new dryer. He said NO - they don't make them like this one anymore (quality) he said. Dryer now works like a dream. Wife and daughters are happy. He was polite, worked cleanly and professionally.
