After dealing with cheap tile falling off my wall during a remodel from Floor and Decor I was introduced to Etched in Stone. They turned an overwhelming experience into such a relaxing one. I was able to work with Rachel and pick out tile in a nice quiet clean environment. The store is layout is great and the tile is easy to see and touch. I can't say enough about Rachel, she is great to work with! She will provide you with as much guidance as you want. If you need a lot of assistance, she will work tirelessly with you to find the right tile for your home, or if you're more of an independent, she will sit back and let you design your project. She works with lots of designers and can really guide you in the right direction. I hired Etched In Stone to come out to redo my master bath. Kevin and his crew were professional from the word go. When they came to the house, they were very clean. They laid down drop clothes in all the areas that they had to walk in the house. At the end of every day, they always cleaned up. They built the walk in shower, retiled the bathroom floor, and installed the granite counter top and sink on the vanity. The shower is awesome!!! Worked with Kevin, the owner, on two separate projects. The first was our master bath vanity which we loved. So then we used him about 10 months later on our kitchen backsplash. Super job as well. It's different working with a professional with years of experience and an eye for design than going to Home Depot. The material may cost more...yet remember, you get what you pay for. Let me start off by saying the employee that assisted, Rachel, us was great. The tile that we purchased, while slightly overpriced, was great. My one complaint with Etched In Stone is that they do not take returned tile. If you go to just about any other tile store you will be able to return unopened boxes if you bought more than you needed. If you buy from Etched In Stone, triple check the square feet needed as you will not be able to return unused, in-box, product. read more

It was a grand experience with this local Glenview company. We were looking for a kitchen back splash for our new home in The Glen. And found Etched in Stone, a small but complete showroom, with an expansive selections of tile, locally on Patriot Blvd. Rachael, the designer, and Kevin, the owner , could not have been more helpful. Though, I am sure, more costly than Home Depot, we were impressed with their knowledge of inventory and design. We chose a custom ceramic pattern made in California, unique, and 3" by 6", with an off white semigloss. This decision was made by taking several samples to our house. Rachel facilitated the ordering and and pricing once measurements were done that same day by Kevin. The project was scheduled the following week to start at 8:00 am. Both Kevin, and Sergio, the now famous installation technician, were very punctual. Sergio had received excellent recognition in many earlier reviews, and was fantastic, artful, efficient, and cleaned up perfectly. He takes great pride in his trade.... and was a delight to converse with thru the day. The finished product is perfect, adds beauty to our open floor plan kitchen, and well worth the price. I went in yesterday and worked with Rachel to find combinations for two bathrooms and my kitchen. When I arrived, Rachel was working with two other people, but let me know that she would be with me when she finished. In the interim, Kevin also approached me and let me know that Rachel would be with me shortly. After an hour of working with Rachel, and going through a number of different combinations, I found a few that I really liked. Great selection, and great service. I love working with Etched In Stone! Both Rachel and Kevin are fantastic, and are looking to please the customer. I've worked with Rachel on two separate floor tile projects and both times I've walked away extremely happy. Rachel and I looked through a lot of different tile and grout options on each occasion and I was also able to take a few pieces of the tile home for a few days so I could make a final decision. Ordering was easy and Rachel kept me informed along the way to know when my tiles would be delivered - even offering to store them for me until I could have them installed. Etched In Stone is a great group to work with! They are a smaller store, so you might have to wait a few minutes for Rachel or Kevin to assist you, but I promise it's worth the wait! Their eye to design and knowledge of all of their materials/products is astounding. You're also going to pay a bit more for the product than you will at a big box store, but you're also paying for the tile quality (porcelain vs. ceramic), endless tile options, knowledge and design help. I can't wait for my next project to use Etched In Stone again! read more

The selection here is awesome, especially since it is such a small place. When I first started looking here, Kevin helped me and he was so nice, helpful and friendly. I decided to keep shopping around to see what else was around and found myself back here months later. The last two times (including today) that I was here I came in knowing exactly what I wanted to look at, but my presence walking into the door was never acknowledged. The lady who was working on both occasions during this weekday afternoon does not know how to greet her customers. She saw me walking in both times- a pregnant lady carrying a toddler is not a hard sight to miss, but never said "hello" or "I will be with you in a minute." Both times she was helping the one other customer in that store. I got it, she's busy, but at least acknowledge me being in your store and that you'll be with me when you have a minute. When the costumer left, the phone rang and she went straight to it- once again never looking at me or saying anything. Do not expect to be helped if another costumer is in here before you if this lady is working. I left both times with my toddler and was never acknowledged. I wish I could have had my one simple question answered, but guess that there are plenty of other places out there in the industry. read more

Etched in Stone is a top-notch company. I am generally a perfectionist and very particular about who I select to work in my home - and I would highly recommend Etched in Stone. In the process of renovating my home, I have dealt with about 15 different contractors - and Etched In Stone is among my very best. The estimating, selection, and ordering process was efficient and simple. Rachel made the extra effort to order samples from the exact lot that we would be receiving. We received the material quickly, and the work was scheduled promptly. The installer (Lucas) was excellent - very experienced, knowledgeable, courteous, accommodating, and cleanly. In my experience with contractors, even the good ones generally leave with a punch list of things that they will need to return for. With Etched in Stone, they finished everything, without a punch list, which is rare! Kevin, the owner, was also a pleasure to work with.
