We were greeted with our choice of Spanish wines and the margarita flatbread. Neither disappointed we decided to purchase the pesto sandwich along with another glass of wine. Ok not gonna lie people, I had a Groupon for a tasting that lead me to this place and tried it out with a friend!! But I also looked it up on TikTok and found out the girlfriend of Yoly from The Ultimatum: Queer Love has frequented here and enjoyed her time and experience as well. So with the being said, I rolled up here on a Tuesday for a wine tasting! The place was pretty quiet and not many patrons were there. The staff was super attentive and helpful with making my friend and I feel welcomed. We received a sheet with wine choices that described flavors and notes of each choice. The tasting included four but honestly the staff was so awesome, it became a whole party at the bar with one of the owners. We ended up tasting whatever we wanted on the whole entire list. I learned so much about wine and went home with two bottles of my favorite!! I'm a sweet wine kinda girl so my recs are the NV Oliver Melon Mint Moscato and NV Oliver Peach Pie!! Decided to swing by this places, and have a few glass of wines while I caught up on some reading! Now if I'm remembering correctly, the wines they were specializing this go round were from Portugal and Spain; and let me tell ya--- they did not disappoint. The ambiance was very nice. There's a few tables, couches, and a nice bar area so everyone has plenty of space. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I definitely shared a few enjoyable chuckles with the staff while I was visiting! I also lucked into some live music, a pianist, that came and it just made the vibe even better. I found two wines I really enjoyed (the Syrah and the Touriga Nacional) I also had the caprese flatbread, and it was absolutely delicious! I debated for a very long time if I should order more and just stuff myself with flatbread for dinner.. but the "you have more food at home" got me. I so desperately wanted to give Soma a higher rating, but there were a couple of hiccups that made today a 3 star experience. Ambiance: The interior is very chic and vibey! Very spread out and super cute. One of the main reasons why our experience was 3 stars is due to a fruit fly/gnat issue they were having. There were fruit flies constantly around us, trying to get into our wine and landing on our food. I doubt this is a normal occurrence here, but it definitely impacted our experience. Service: 5 stars! The server and owner are incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming! They were very pleasant to talk to and we thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality. Drinks + Food: Mulled Wine - Thank you Yelp for the free wine! The mulled wine was lovely. Perfectly warm with hints of cinnamon and other spices. I will note that I found it a bit odd that it was served in a stemmed wine glass. I'm used to mulled wine usually being served in a mug of some sorts. Cheese & Charcuterie Board - they were easily able to accommodate our request of no meat and added extra cheese and fruit for us! I will say that for $25, I definitely would have liked for more variety on the board (jams, honey, nuts, olives, etc.) Caprese Flatbread - This was very nice! Super simple, but tasty. Similar to the cheese board, I felt that it was a bit overpriced for what we got ($14). TL;DR - I think I came on an off day! Service is fantastic and wine selection is lovely. Enjoyed Soma as part of a visit for Yelp Elite Week event. Would stop in again for sure. They feature wines from different regions every 6-8 weeks, our selections were from Spain. I had a Grenacha which was delicious and the Mrs enjoyed her Sparkling Brut. We split the caprese flatbread which was extremely good (and a little messy, but we'll worth it). It had fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, a basil pesto sauce that was terrific, and balsamic glaze drizzle. The ambiance is kinda urban chic I guess...exposed brick on the wall, exposed pipes overhead. I really enjoyed visiting this winery on a Friday night! To my surprise there was someone there singing live which made the night extra cute. I came in by myself for a solo date and read the entire time, the music surprisingly was not a distraction at all! Perfect volume . They have a rotating wine list, but the downfall I found was when I was there all the wines were dry. One of the workers did offer to pour me a different wine that wasn't on their current list that is a little sweeter. I would go back! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this place for a Yelp Elite experience. This place is located in old Fort Worth so free parking is very limited street side. There is a Soma parking lot behind the establishment but for a fee. Hopefully they can set it up where they can offer parking validation. Upon arriving, I had difficulty with the door as it was difficult to open, so pull hard when you tug at. It wasn't an issue as staff quickly assisted me. I was warmly greeted by Vanessa and given a menu and water. I was provided with a complimentary glass of wine and half portion of Caprese naan flat bread. I tried the 2018 Castillo Garnacha Cariena. I enjoyed. I also enjoyed the flatbread so much that I ordered a full size! They had live entertainment on Friday evening, so it totally set the mood. I stayed longer than anticipated and had another pour. I tried the Colossal Red Touriga Nacional and I enjoyed it even more than the first glass. They offer flights of 4 wines for only $22, which I'll be trying next time I'm there. Overall, my experience was pleasant. I was taken care of by three lovely wait staff but only gotten Vanessa and James's name. I think this place is great for a wine down after work or even during if you are a remote worker. The drinks are pretty good, I appreciate the winery for having a good mocktail selection. Try the vanilla bean hard cider if you aren't really an alcohol person but you want to drink alcohol! The food is also pretty decent as well. Ambiance is great and lovely, you could tell that the owners really invested in the space. My only critique would be the waitress and how she seemed like she was very confused the entire time. I kept pointing at the drink I wanted on the menu but she kept getting really confused. And then when she finally understood me, she immediately left the table without a word before I could put in my second drink order. It happened so fast, even my chill friend was in shock. Odd vibe. Later on after I was done with my first drink, the really nice welcoming owner came to our table and I was finally able to get my drink order in. Soma is a cute little spot in the south side division of Ft worth. Service was nice enough, but I think I was the first from the 12 days of Christmas to try them out. At the door it says cash not accepted, but they did accept a cash tip during my visit, so plan on paying for your drinks/food with a card. I opted to try something new while waiting for someone to get off work, so we could meet up to decide on dinner. This was my first time having Mulled wine and unfortunately I'm not a fan of warm/hot wine. I feel like I would have like the wine served if it was cold or room temperature though. For sure worth the try though! Looking at their menu they have a number of different options, and some good looking snack options. The chocolates are what heavily caught my eye though. I will for sure try those during my next visit to Sona! As a side note, most if not all of the lots are paid parking. So, if you live somewhere along the texrail where you can park at a station & ride the train, it is quick 5 minute walk from the T&P station. Came here on a Friday afternoon. There were two groups of people already seated. Found it to be quite echoy, although there aren't a lot of people. Coffee is good, but close to being great. This venue is located on corner or main st & E Daggett avenue, with an angled entrance facing Main st. You can park along the streets on Daggett or Main st for free. There's a parking lot behind the building with "Soma" sign, but it's NOT FREE. I walked in, there was one customer, no staff to greet customers at the door... understandably bc there was only one restaurant staff on duty, & she was in the kitchen. I got a glass of "Marques de caceres Sauvignon blanc", which was just ok. The caprese flatbread was DELICIOUS - loved the bold blended flavors of tomato pieces, fresh basil, generous pesto sauce, & melted mozzarella over crispy toasty naan flatbread. My friend liked the Italiano panini better, which was crispy on the outside with nicely melted cheese + salami & subtle hints of olive oil & black pepper flavors. The panini came with a cute basket of kettle-cooked potato chips (NOT home made). This is a classy venue. The open floor plan & decor make it a nice place to have a company meet-and-greet-type event or a birthday/anniversary party. I loved how artsy the food presentations were, but I think the prices are on the high side for what you get. The bathroom in the back of the restaurant was a spacious individual stall, but no diaper changing station, so would be hard to bring your baby(ies). 3 stars for limited staff, portion, & the prices. I didn't catch the bartender's name, but she was awesome- very friendly and knowledgeable about both the area and the wines. Her suggestions were spot on. We tried the Altered State cab, tempranillo, dry riesling, and voignier. They were all delicious. We bought the cab, but I did really like the dry riesling and tempranillo a lot. (I wanted to support the business, but I definitely could have gotten the bottle for much cheaper elsewhere. In the future I'd do a flight or a glass but not buy a bottle.) The staff saw us approaching and opened the front door for us, welcomed us, and gave excellent recommendations. I am very sad to make this update. Reason for it was drastic change in staff and the education or how the information about wine was presented. The lack of knowledge of wine now is sad in comparison to previous experiences here. Red wine was not served at temperature. Being told that "red wine doesn't need to be chilled" was upsetting to me as all wine is supposed to be served at a particular temperature. Charcuterie boards was not good compared to previous experiences. The prosciutto was expired which was concerning. Honestly, it is sad to see a place like this shifting south at this particular moment. DFW in particular Fort Worth have so many gems and exciting raising spots since the pandemic. But again, "commitment will give you the steps to start. But consistency will bring you to the finish line.". Unfortunately the consistency of Soma ran out of fuel in my personal opinion. read more

Quiet and cozy. I came during a weekday around lunch time so my review may be skewed but it was nice to go somewhere with a few people but not packed. It's spacious but the layout works well for people wanting to have a conversation. Love the corner spot and old historic interior. Had a Spanish wine and flat bread and left happy. Soma winery is a super unique winery in the up and coming South Main area. The concept is super unique compared to other wineries. The wines rotate very 2 months to different country origins. Went there for the first time June 24 and the wines were from Portugal and Spain. Lemme tell you, they were all incredible! It's so much easier in the US to buy Californian wines but I did not know what I was missing out on! These wines were all incredibly flavorful and unique. The white and red Riojas were especially delicious and full of unique flavors. The charcuterie board was delicious but I would've expected a little better from a dedicated winery. I will be excited to try the paninis next time I go when they rotate their wines to Australian and New Zealand wines. The adffogato at the end was the PERFECT way to cure the wine sleepys that I always get after drinking lots of wine. It was the PERFECT mixture of coffee and delicious well balanced espresso. Got to meet the founder Brian Virk and he was very kind and attentive despite the place being packed with very large groups on a Saturday afternoon. read more
