I've been to 6 escape rooms, and this one is without a doubt the BEST experience I've ever had! Authentic vintage furniture, dim lighting, and a mysterious tune in the background truly bring the experience to life. The room felt like it could have belonged to an ancient alchemist: nothing seemed forced or out of place. The puzzles surprised me with their ingenuity and inventiveness - I've never seen so much thought put into escape room puzzles even from big companies. The fact that the game takes place in one of the oldest buildings in Fort Collins is a cherry on top. We also visited another escape room in Fort Co the next day, and while it was good, it did not feel nearly as authentic and thrilling as this one. Truly the highlight of my anniversary trip. This is the first Escape Room I've attempted and I think I can officially say I'm hooked! My team and I did this as a team building activity and we had a BLAST. Each of us enjoyed working through the riddles/puzzles and although we were told that the escape success rate was 35%, we were DETERMINED to escape. With that being said, we worked our way through all of the clues and were able to escape. We truly felt so proud of ourselves hahaha. This was such a fantastic experience! We took our thirteen year old son and two of his friends, and they had a wonderful time. The ambiance was perfect, the puzzles were interesting, related to the story and progressive towards the end. The clues were given in a fantastic, non-invasive way. The room itself was large enough for the five of us to move around to different puzzles, but also to see what the others were doing. We were worried because it was a very hot summer day and it's located upstairs in an older building, but an air conditioner in the puzzle room kept it pleasant. B.D.E.R.E Best Darn Escape Room Ever. This place is located in the attic of a cute little shop in downtown Fort Collins and the building is one of the oldest in town so it has a great vibe. The room itself looks like it could actually be the study of some eccentric old chemist. There are no over produced plastic looking props and flashy lights. You truly feel like you are poking around inside someone's office from 100 years ago. They made an amazing experience and the only things with electricity in the whole room are the lamps (although the lamps did really set the mood well, it was pretty dim and my weak eyes had a hard time) They even use an hourglass as the timer! Wow! My friends and I entered the escape room on a dreary, rainy day and completely forgot our worries for an hour- completely absorbed in this transportive experience. Most escape rooms begin from the moment you enter and the door closes behind you. Not Somewhere Secret! It draws you in right from the moment you book with instructions leading you to a hidden spot, a rendezvous with a stranger, and a storyline that provided the perfect background for one of the most enjoyable hours I've spent in Fort Collins. The amount of thought that has gone into crafting this is very impressive. It's very engaging and also extremely fair, with some really beautifully made puzzles. I did it with a friend and we found it difficult but doable by two people with some escape room experience, while still providing enough variety and challenge to occupy a larger group with children or more novice players. I especially loved the many 'magical' effects; no two puzzles were alike and there were a lot of enjoyable 'aha!' moments. We also never felt truly stuck because there was always something to look at, fiddle with or work on. I'd highly recommend this to anyone interested in puzzles, logic, magic and adventure - it deserves every one of its five stars, and my only regret is that there's just the one experience available right now to play. My office put together an outing at somewhere secret. Such a different thing to do, and far exceeded our expectations. This particular venue had a great set up and we all really enjoyed it. The challenges varied but were excellently planned out and was pure delight in solving them. Nothing like finding a key to an old lock to make you feel like your in another time or a great mystery movie. Friends on our group that had done other rooms said this was best in Fort Collins. I took my sister and a friend to Somewhere Secret. There were only the three of us for that time slot, so we were a bit disadvantaged but we had an awesome time! The puzzles were great, the ambiance was perfect for the theme, and we had SOOOOOOOO much fun! I have done others, and this one was very nicely set up with the back story unlike some of the others. I would like to come back and do this again with the hopes of completing all the puzzles. The pricing is donation based, so if you really enjoyed it I recommend you pay a touch over the suggested donation price. Since there is no pre-payment, some people cancel with short notice or don't show up at all, which is a shame. This was my first experience with an escape room, but not for my friends. This was one of the most enjoyable times I've had in a long time. Cori, the owner, prepared us very well before leading us into the mysterious room. The flavor of the escape room is steampunk or of a 19th century Egyptologist. This escape room was so creative and engaging. I loved all of the antique locks, trunks, and treasures. It really transported us to a different place. I could've spent hours exploring the space and it's plethora of items. I really believe that this would've been fun for people of all ages and experiences. My boyfriend and I didn't manage to finish the puzzle, but we'll be back. While this might be geared towards larger groups, I thought it still worked well for two people. read more

This was our first experience with a puzzle/escape room, and we were so impressed. We went there for my daughter's 11th birthday party, had 2 adults and 6 kiddos. Prior to entering we really drove the point that this is where it is cool to be smart, and it was the truth! We started with Corie (sp?) meeting us out front and leading us through the very cool storefront that is below the actual room. I'm sure she might've been skeptical because we had so many kids with us, but she never let it show, and was patient and kind to the kids as she explained the rules. The door is always unlocked, and so there wasn't any fear about being stuck in a room! Once the game began, we were blown away. The challenges were abundant, definitely enough for people to fit into smaller groups to work separately. Some were mind-blowingly cool, and I honestly don't know how they did them. My daughter felt like she was the queen boss, all the girls said it was their favorite party ever. They have a new room in the making and we cannot wait! The adults worked the entire time and I'm sure the kiddos could not have done it without us (not arrogant, just true). You will be proud when you're done, it is a great experience! read more

This place is just incredible. It's one of the most fun and fascinating experiences I've had in my life. The puzzles are beautifully designed, and the atmosphere is perfect. It's like being inside a steampunk fantasy novel (but even that doesn't do it justice). If you've played the iPad game The Room, you'll know exactly what to expect. It's like playing that game in real life, which is every bit as great as it sounds. We actually managed to finish the game, and I can definitively say that the last puzzle is as good as the first. The entire experience is a complete victory of imagination. It's worth way more than the measly $25 suggested donation. The best part is that when you solve the room, there's still one more secret to find out in the real world. We left energized and excited, and we immediately went out to try and figure out this last clue. We're still working on it, and we'll be driving back to Fort Collins soon to (hopefully) find the treasure. The game keeps giving you mystery and intrigue even after it's "over." Mystery and intrigue are hard to find these days when every bit of information is at our fingertips. Somewhere Secret puts you in a rare headspace of wonder and enchantment (sounds corny, but that's actually what it does). This place is really a work of art. This was our first time to try the "escape room" experience. Somewhere Secret is going to be tough to top. Cori did a great job hosting the group and preparing us for the adventure. Once inside the room we were all pleasantly surprised with the level of challenge as well as the attention to detail. We were a group of 5 and each one of us contributed in solving different parts of the obstacles. A true example of no one of us is smarter than the all of us. So engaging and fun! My family and I did this escape room and one other escape room while they were visiting me from out of town. This was BY FAR our favorite! Everyone from my 23 year old sister to my 88 year old grandmother had a blast working through the riddles and puzzles and searching for clues in the room. To put this very simply, if you haven't been here I don't know what you are doing with your life. If you are at all in challenging yourself, then this is the place you need to be. This is the best escape/puzzle rooms I've been to. The room is amazing and full of surprises. The owners have done a badass job of making this a truly unbelievable experience. The beat thing about this place is that the fun doesn't stop if you solve the puzzle, because that's only half of it. If you are good enough to find the treasure map, you actually have to go out and find the treasure, which up until now has not been found by anyone. As we climbed the stairs to the musty upper floor of a downtown Fort Collins antique store, our group knew we were in for a memorable escape room visit. Our host Cori delivered a simple but engaging briefing that including an inspection of our group for magical powers (we made the cut but just barely). We entered the period of study of an alchemist and began our mission to find a chest holding the map to a magical treasure. The furnishings and music suggested a bygone time and we realized that very little technology in the room went past the early twentieth century. Even with this technological constraint, the puzzles featured clever mechanical discoveries and "magical" effects. The searching and record keeping were laborious at times -- at one point I spent several minutes relocating a key scrap of paper that got shuffled among other items stored on a table -- but with a few lucky breaks our group completed opened the chest and earned the right to seek the treasure. Somewhere Secret represents a charming contrast to more commercialized, market-driven escape rooms businesses. For both enthusiasts wanting to try something different and newcomers wanting a magical experience, it's a place worth seeking out. read more

Great time! We almost got through all the clues and had the puzzle solved, but we needed about 10 more minutes...! It's the best one we've done so far as the clues are tricky but can be figured out and you have a sporting chance.
