Dr. K is an honest and professional dentist. Not ony she is accurate on dianosing my tooth issues but she never exaggerates the issues for the purpose of getting more money. This is the high quality of her character! For a several times, she gave both my husband and her true opinion and advice. She is trust worthy and compassionate. I feel very warm and relaxed to be in her office. I even call her 'My Sister'. For example, 10 days ago, I went in to visit her with one of my teeth hurting. She asked her assistant to take the X-ray first, then she checked throughly but didn't find anything seriously wrong. She then advised me to gargle with warm salt water 3 times a day for one week and let her know the outcome. If not getting better, she will refer me to an endodontist. Amazingly, 3 days after, my pain on my tooth disappeared! She is very accurate! Came to Dr. Khinvasara because my insurance changed and I'm not able to go to my regular dentist and she was the only one in network with my current insurance. After checking her previous positive yelp reviews, I was relieved to be going here after being a patient at my previous dentists for 20+ years and have never seen any other dentist before. I arrived on time for my appointment but had to wait 30 mins for my cleaning, not a huge issue but hopefully it's not always like this. When they were going to start my cleaning I noticed the mirror dental tool they were going to use had smudge marks all over it. Had no idea that dental tools are not new and are just sterilized when they come out of the bags. The dental assistant was kind enough to offer to get another mirror, however the one she brought back was also dirty. I really wanted to walk out at that point but decided to continue with the cleaning. The rest of the cleaning was pretty standard except the doctor did half the cleaning which is new for me, normally it's the dental assistance. Hopefully next time they'll have cleaner tools. read more

Yup, Dr. Khinvasara's office deserves all the great reviews. From beginning to end, hands down the best experience I've ever had at a dentist's office. Booking Appointment: Adriana at the front desk was super sweet and went the extra effort to call my insurance company before booking my appointment, just to make sure that I was fully covered. Prep: Mardi was super nice as she prepped me; because this was my first appointment, I had to take a full set of X-rays. It's a LOT of x-rays, but she was great about explaining to me what was going on. Dentist: Dr. Sona has hands down the best bedside manner of any dentist I've ever gone to. She actually asks you how you're feeling, if you're experiencing any pain, and if you flinch or indicate pain, she immediately apologizes and adjusts, which I know isn't necessary since she's just doing her job, but it makes me feel like she really cares. And when it came to filling in a small cavity that she found, she asked Adriana to double check with my insurance and was very upfront about the cost based on what my insurance would and wouldn't cover. I wish ALL doctors were like this - I've had some terrible experiences in the past - and can't tell you how much I appreciated it. Surprise: The real kicker was that at the end of my appointment, they gave me a certificate and a bottle of Martinelli's for completing my dental treatment! It was such a sweet gesture - not at all what you'd expect from a trip to the dentist, but talk about surprise & delight! I've literally never been happier after a dental appointment. I normally don't write reviews for doctors but I wanted to share my experience with dr. Sona. I cannot say enough good things about her. I owe her a big thanks for helping my father when he most needed it. My parents are currently visiting from India and his filling had chipped and lodged itself in his gums. He was in a lot of pain and couldn't eat. he also has other dental problems but this needed immediate attention. Not only did she do a complete evaluation and x-ray. she wrote down a treatment plan that he needs to get done in India and handed a copy of the x-ray and the plan to us. She went over everything in great detail and made us feel at ease. She never pushed for us to do all the things but told us to prioritize one procedure. After having some very bad experiences with dentists (one of which I had caught trying to defraud my insurance company - and it was a 1-800-Dentist referral), I went through a period of about 5 years where I was very reluctant to go see a dentist. My oral health declined, and my husband finally convinced me to find a dentist. I don't have dental insurance so I was lucky to have found Dr. Sona, willing to accept my dental discount card, and just a couple of blocks away from my work. I always feel very comfortable walking into Dr. Sona's office; they never pressure me to do unnecessary dental work, and make me feel like they truly care about my oral health. This place is kind of surreal, due to the treatment of the staff. Pat, the receptionist, is incredibly sweet and accommodating, and Sona is very in tune with her patients. Sona walks you through every step, and makes recommendations based on treatments you actually need. I had several fillings here. Following them, I experienced quite a bit of sensitivity, but Sona allowed a follow up visit where I could consider getting the filling re-done or applying sensitivity toothpaste. I appreciated that she was willing to do the former free of charge, though she advised not being so destructive with my tooth again (the toothpaste has done the trick!). I always review the restaurants but this time i want to write a review for a dentist. I've been to a lot of dentist but Dr. Sona is something else. She works very gently and patiently. I love the fact that every seconds she asks whether or not are you in pain and if you re in pain, well here another shot!!! If no shots work then there is hammer that she may use to make you unconscious, Looool, just joking don't worry. I also love the fact that she explains everything with detail. First of all I have to say Thank You, Dr. Sona, for my smile. Dr. Sona has been my dentist since the later months of 2010. My first appointment was right after she first opened and I was immediately surprised at how smooth the cleaning went. She just went to work in there with no slips, no gums getting accidently poked, I never felt any kind of pain "spike", you know the little surprise ones. All during the cleaning she is asking "Is everything ok? Are you alright?" So, you know, you make those funny noises to say, "yes", "ok" and suddenly she is finished. In January of 2011, I needed to get that dreaded crown done. Well, I had no idea that any dentist can be this gentle. I am a big guy, easily over 6' and over 200 lbs and have a lower jaw on one side that doesn't numb up easily and I have always worked with each dentist, accepting some issues with how it feels when they are doing the work on any of my teeth. Dr. Sona did a crown from the beginning to end without me even feeling the needle go in. I not only didn't feel the needle go in but even at the point when it's in there and the dentist says "your going to feel a little discomfort now, ok?", I still didn't feel it. After she removed the needle I was kind of worried that my jaw wouldn't go numb because it's supposed to feel like a needle is in there, when the needle is in there, but sure enough it went numb. Yea, well that's not all. Everybody knows how the sound of the drill goes when it's working right? Up and down in speed as it's pressed harder and softer against the tooth right? Not when Dr Sona is using it. She turns the drill on and cuts the tooth until she achieves the shape that's required to hold the crown, all done with an even application of pressure and very smooth, without any of the little quick feelings like it slipped or getting stuck or something like that. Of course at the same time, she is continuously asking me if everything is ok and how I am doing. I swear I had to hold back a chuckle because I felt she honestly has no idea how good her control of whatever tool she is using actually is. She thinks what she is doing is normal, and all the dentists do it this way, lol. I had a crown done on a upper "K 9" that I broke long before I met Dr. Sona. Recently it started to bother me and it turns out the tooth had a hairline crack all the way up the root to the bone. Dr. Sona looked at it and felt it had to be pulled but she sent me for a second opinion to a specialist. It was confirmed but Dr. Sona told me she would rather the specialist do that. So OK, the specialist pulls the tooth and also readies it for an implant and later installs the base of the implant. It was worked out that Dr. Sona would do the final step of installing the crown on the implant. After you get home you look in the mirror and realize she wanted that step because she wanted it to be perfect and it really is. It's up front, clearly in my smile, no gaps, same color. It requires me to point out which tooth it is. This process takes a while and during this time, my visits continued to Dr. Sona for cleaning and check ups and such. I mentioned to her that maybe she should do implants. She told me that she would rather not do them, but in the discussion I realize it's not because she doesn't know how or hasn't been trained, it's because of the high probability for pain that may occur during the procedure. I have to tell you, teeth do not come out easy. So it turns out that what ever it is inside her, that does not allow her to hurt someone is definitely the best thing that can happen to the person in the chair. She is always concerned how you feel. She is not asking because she is supposed to do that. She is asking because she wants to know. She does not do the upsell. She will always do a filling before doing a crown. She always tries to save the tooth and she always lets you know where you are cleaning good and where you should spend more time. She does not want you to have to get your teeth pulled. By appointment only? I'm not sure but I think if you are hurting she will bring you in and see if she can help. Over the years she has not changed. This is how she is. read more

I have been a patient of Sona's since 2010. I am very loyal to her because of how well she has always treated me. Above all, I like that she is so careful and gentle around your teeth. Other dentists were rougher on my lips, for example, pinching them mercilessly. That has never been the case with Dr. Sona. Another thing that I really like is that she only recommends procedures that are needed. I guess that she knows that by now we can see our x-rays and come to fairly good conclusions. If a filling can wait she lets you know. Of course, she won't be the one to wait so long that you need a root canal instead. She also doesn't push cosmetic procedures that you are not interested in. Dr. Sona has also convinced me to take better care of my teeth. Flossing is the key. I do it every day at least once a day and have noticed a remarkable improvement. As a result, I am teaching my kids to floss. I wish I did that as a kid! Needless to say, my wife and kids also go to Dr. Sona and my daughter has not yet had a cavity (she's almost 8).
