I was gonna stop at Jimmyz but then remembered that they closed down so we opted to try Sone instead. We were taking it to go so I went in and ordered at the counter then went to sit in the car for a few. It only took about 15 minutes and I was on my way. The inside is nothing special and the menu is limited but the food was good. I got 3 chicken hibachi dinners and took them back to Charleston for dinner and they held up great. I would definitely stop here again. read more

Went to Sone Hibachi today as they reopened .. my family and I use to go here ALOT before the renovation... thought the food would be the same. Unfortunately it's not. they have UP the price and give you 1/3 of the amount of food as before. Felt like they were running outta rice back there or something. i don't know if I will be back. I briefly came here because my family had hibachi from another restaurant a couple days before and had a ton of fried rice leftovers. We like to recook the rice and put in egg and some veggies and then also cook our own steaks. We didn't have the ginger sauce though that they pass out at hibachi restaurants. We stopped at two places who wouldn't let us purchase it. Sone, however, was extremely friendly and only charged us $2 for four or five ramekins of the ginger sauce. First of all, the bathrooms were dirty. No soap and no paper towels. Tables were not wiped down. The food was just ok.

I have only done takeout here and they do a very good job with that and they do have a few places to eat inside if desired. I only order here if I am really craving hibachi but have little time because it is of mediocre quality. read more

LOCAL place, kind of a dive, but significantly better than the chain fancy place. The portion is so large we can have a full meal leftover. They don't fill the plate up with rice as the other place does either. Not fancy, just a great place to eat. Always fresh, kind people and they get our business all the time now. We live in Pawleys and heard about Sone Hibachi from a staffer at MUSC in Charleston. He remarked how he grew up in Pawleys and ate at Sone for years and how good it was. We tried it today for lunch and were not disappointed in any way. The food was all very good. it was very tasty and the portions were large. and not expensive. We really love hibachi food. When we come to this area we typically get Miyabi, but thought takeout better suited our needs. The pros of this place: the price/portion is incredibly reasonable and for that alone I would do this again. We got the shrimp, scallops, and chicken hibachi entree. The food was all over cooked and there was a lot of water in the vegetables that spilled into our meal watering it all down. There was also an interesting after taste that was not appealing to my taste buds. The yum yum was not the best but not the worst. Our family had high hopes, but we were all a bit let down. We got six bowls and a variety of noodle and spring roll appetizers. Different than every other chinese or japanese eateries, Sone did not add any veggies, pork, sausage, onions, egg or anything at all to their "fried rice" or noodle bowls. Soy sauce was used liberally on all rice, noodle, shrimp, steak and scallops but that seemed to be the only seasoning. Probably will not go back again. read more
