The place is slightly outdated, which doesn't bother me at all. Having said that, I am having a wonderful stay. I love the full kitchen, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher and garbage disposal. The staff is amazing. They are so sweet and helpful. Always professional. The hotel is clean, quiet and safe. I just can't say enough about the staff! They go out of their way to make it a nice stay. The grounds are well maintained. But let's talk bedding...the sheets are so comfortable. Soft, clean, no stains with a nice warm down comforter. I am having a very comfortable sleep. Mattress could be replaced as one person seems to have slept on one side vs the other but I put my partner on that side, lol. They are supposed to renovate soon and I think that will make this place over the top! The hotel is close to the grocery store (within walking distance) Marshalls, Hobby Lobby, a gas station and the freeway making the stay here all that more convenient. The prices are so reasonable. I am a long term tenant here so I've seen every aspect of this motel and I can say I am happy to be here. I have stayed in Sonesta in NJ and CA but this place is different and didn't meet the expectations. The hotel is located very closer to the free way and easy to locate, not too far from PHX. the parking lot is enough and you should be able to find easy parking at most times. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They engage in conversations based on how we interact. As you enter the hotel area the strong odor or smoke smell makes you feel that you made a wrong choice. The hotel rooms were good nicely maintained and spacious. The Kitchen is good for making food while you stay, and they got some extra utensils based on request. The AC worked just fine and overall, I liked this location except the strong odor in common areas of the hotel. read more

Never again. The staff was amazing -- truly the only redeeming part of this stay. Unfortunately, the condition of the hotel makes it clear that the company simply doesn't care. I've stayed at their beautiful Scottsdale location and their decent Tempe one, so I expected better. When I went to take a shower, I found long hairs in the tub and a deteriorating shower curtain rod. Finding that in the morning made me feel so disturbed knowing I slept in that bed the night before. The paint on the walls and doors, plus the grime on the ceiling, all show a serious lack of maintenance. I tried uploading photos, but it won't let me -- which is a shame, because they say it all. I trusted this company based on my past experiences, but after this stay, I won't be returning to any of their locations again. GROSS! read more

They charge to park in their hotel parking lot that you are already paying to staying in. I was there under a CLC for work and was charged to park. I've never paid to park at a hotel parking lot that I'm staying at. I am glad that I wasn't staying there for a month like I was at other hotels. I was not happy with my room. I booked this room with my company 3 months out asking for a room on the top floor away from the elevator. So I finally check in and I got a handicap room on the first floor right at the main lobby. Seriously???!!! I'm glad that I only stayed one night because it's not fun to be near the lobby with people checking in all hours of the night. The employees are very nice but I will try very hard to find another hotel that my company has a contract with. read more

The rooms are nice, I'll give them that. However upon check in (fri) I was charged a total of 3 times. 2 for my room, 1 deposit fee which I was okay with. When my card declined Sat morning I realized about the double charge and went to go see what we could do about it. Keep in mind I'm young, taking a trip out of the state like this is something I can't normally afford. And I didn't budget for an extra almost 300 to be taken. When I went to the desk the lady apologized on behalf of last night's employee, saying she does things "ass-backwards". Told me she'd speak to someone higher up and let me know. I missed out on multiple planned activities do to this. Sunday morning, same lady tells me the funds will not be released until Tuesday, with an extra few days on my banks end. I'm not one to make reviews but this experience put a damper on my whole weekend and was really a let down. No restaurant, no breakfast, coffee in the morning isn't good, hallways reek of weed. Overall would've been okay if the initial women checking me in didn't screw me over. read more

Terrible hospitality for late night service If you're doing a drive through... just avoid this one The email reservation confirmation I got did not match the front desk apparently and even though I had it in black and white they refused to find me a space. Might be believable if there were a no vacancy lit or the parking lot was more than half full. The quality of this hotel far exceeded my expectations. We stayed here because of the low price and really weren't expecting much. The rooms are newly remodeled and very modern. They include a kitchen with all of the amenities you need (toaster, fridge, stovetop, dishwasher w/detergent, dishes, etc..). They have a little pantry where you can buys supplies and the prices are very reasonable ($1 for Greek yogurt). Free coffee/tea in the lobby 24 hours and free laundry as well. There is also a nice running trail our back, which makes up for the out dated fitness room. I'd stay here again, especially if it was for a long trip. read more

Stayed here with my husband and our cocker spaniel when we were visiting Phoenix for a few days. The reason why we picked this hotel was that there is a kitchenette and that this place also allows for you to travel with your pets. Also the price per night we paid was pretty reasonable. By the way, there is a park right behind the hotel, which gave our dog plenty of grassy areas for him to relieve himself. This was our first time staying in Candlewood Suites and we really enjoyed our time at this hotel. There is plenty of parking in the lot and the staff were very friendly. Our room (on the 2nd flood) had plenty of dishes and utensils for us to use and also provided dish soap and a sponge to wash our dishes. The room we got was a queen size bed and it was pretty spacious enough for us. But I did wish that the bathroom was a little bigger. Also wished that the free wifi would be faster during peak times (faster late at night, when most people are probably sleeping). Really appreciated that we were given a coupon for 1 free item in the Candlewood Cupboard (downstairs right next to the check in desk, provides snacks that you can buy at a fairly reasonable price). Also thought the small gym that is on site actually pretty nice (for a small gym) and clean. Really thought it was cool that we could also borrow DVDs at the front desk for free and watch them back in our room (so yes there is a DVD player in the room). Oh and there is also a laundry area that you can use here (we didn't use it though) for a small price. You can also purchase detergent in case you forget to pack some. And there is also a few grills on site with tables so you can buy some meat at the local market (not a far drive to) and make dinner if you wanted to or have friends or family that you may be visiting to come over and have a cook out. Overall, this hotel was a very nice place to stay and would stay here again if we ever do come back to Phoenix. read more

Place met every expectation for a good night stay. First I made the reservation for the wrong day a day later that I needed. Called the hotel about 6:00pm and they were able to get me a room and cancel my reservation for the next night at no charge. The clerk at the desk (STEVE) was awesome. He made my stay exceptional. He asked about my visit to Phoenix and then the following day remembered why I was visiting and wished me luck. Most people don't care. Steve not only asked the night I checked in but remembered the day I checked out why I was there and cared enough to wish me luck. People are quick to complain or be negative but wont take the time to say thanks to a person, in this case STEVE. And let the hotel manager know STEVE made a difference and should be recognized. I will stay here anytime I'm in the area and I hope STEVE is on shift so I can sleep well. Thanks Steve. Btw the room had everything we needed, was clean, comfortable and quiet. read more

I'm very impressed with this place, doesn't look all great from outside allthough it is presentable still when u enter. But when u actually get into the rooms omg i got a kitchen in mines n a real full size refrigerator because it was a queen suite n only paid about $62 a nite n $15 more for the dog n a $50 deposit that is refundable when u out. The room is very nice n it also came with cups, silverware, pot n pans etc. We are cooking tonight...this is cheaper then some places i called about n very nice for the price. Just Wow!!!! read more

I am a new Arizona resident relocating from Florida after accepting a career opportunity. Finger to the area I was looking for a place that I could call my home during my transition. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by Susanna who made me feel right at home; right away I knew I have made the right choice. The room is perfect it's absolutely everything me and my spouse need, initially I thought that this would feel like another hotel however it feels like a community a place I am proud to call home. Everyone here is so positive happy and uplifting! I initially only booked a week however after my first day I knew I did not want to look elsewhere. Thank you to the staff and the residents for making me feel at home!!!! I also wanted to add, after spending my 5th night here I had to comment on the bed..... it is absolutely without a doubt 100% one of the best most comfortable beds I have slept in if not the best!!! Apparently they upgraded all the bed to a top-of-the-line luxury Serta mattress. I have several health issues that affect my Mobility, in addition to chronic pain and daily stiffness to the point where my doctor wrote a prescription when I was on the market searching for a bed; I was so sad when I put my bed in storage because I never thought I would have find something better... biggest well that has all changed now. This recent move of mine has affected my help tremendously and if it was not for this bed I don't know how I would be able to get up and go to work every morning, it is that amazing. The second thing I wanted to add is they have several washers and dryers not like at other places where they have one set and bonus they are free to use. It is so nice to be able to have use of a washer and dryer, and not have to wait for one or have to pay every single time I need to use it. read more

This is the worst hotel ever they put me in a dirty room with pet hair all over and smelled like pet pee and poop. I moved the coffee table to check the sofa bed and when I did that I found out the smell was pet pee that they tried to cover up with a coffee table instead of cleaning up the carpet. I had to give my child allergy meds because they didn't tell me the first floor was for people with pets. I called the front desk from my cell because the room phone didn't work. The front desk person came to look at the carpet then asked me if I touched anything in the room ? We were then moved to a different room. I'll never stay here again. I sent an email to the corp office and all they did was say sorry I sent them 3 other emails after that and no one ever responded. read more

I had to stay in this hotel last summer when my air conditioning was out. As I top tier rewards member (Platinum) I was unbelievably disappointed in my stay. I went through 2 rooms before I found one that I could sleep in and only stayed one night. All three of the rooms that I was in had very noisy A/C units and smelled like dog pee. I would save my money and go elsewhere. read more

Hotel doesn't have a restaurant. morning coffee is not good. The bar at night closes way too early, and the Tavern restaurant next door does too (9PM). The following is a note that I wrote to Intercontinental Hotel Group about my recent experience while on a business trip to Phoenix. Please share if you know anyone who travels alone. Remember to always trust your gut instinct when you are in a situation that doesn't feel right to you! I wasn't traumatized by this experience, just reminded to continue being cautious when I'm on the road - and anywhere for that matter... ****************** I arrived back to the hotel approx. 3:00am on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Upon pulling into the hotel parking lot, I drove along the front of the hotel and passed by a security guard that was patrolling the lot. I drove around to the next aisle, looking for a parking spot - there were none. So I drove to the back side of the hotel and parked close to one of the side doors, next to the stairwell that was close to my room. As I was gathering my belongings to take with me, I noticed the security guard walk around the corner and into my view. He stopped and was watching me/my car. I continued to gather my things and noticed that he was just standing there watching me while he drank something, a coffee I would assume. He began walking again but stopped after a few feet and continued to look over at my car. Soon, he began pacing in the same area continuing to watch me. Being a woman in my twenties, this made me extremely cautious and I began to feel uncomfortable, wondering what his motivations were. This behavior continued for a good 5 minute period which I made myself look busy for, afraid to get out of the car and head to the hotel alone. After 5 minutes of pacing and watching me, this security guard starting walking around the back of the hotel toward my car. He continued to watch me as he walked past the back of my car and continued on. This actually made me even more concerned since I parked next to a large commercial truck/van that I could not see around. After a minute, I decided to back put of the parking spot and leave. My instincts served me well. As I pulled out of the parking space, the security guard was standing on the other side of the truck, waiting. I left the parking lot and drove down the street trying to figure out what I was going to do. This hotel does not have anyone at the front desk from 11pm-7am, so there was no one to contact. All of this turned into a huge inconvenience and obviously, a lack of sleep. I did notify the manager of the events in the morning as I was leaving the hotel. ****************** When speaking to the manager, she informed me that they have security at the hotel to help prevent car break-ins and theft. While I am happy that they the spend the money to provide this service, there was something seriously wrong with this particular security guards actions. I can understand keeping an eye on someone that looks/acts suspicious but I drove up in a rented, silver PT Cruiser and I don't think I look like a sketchy person. read more

Maybe I just have low expectations but I love this place. Arizona is a special place that I would gladly return to. But sometimes I just want to bring takeout and relax at home with the DVD version of Twilight, my pet bulldog that I take everywhere with me and a bag of candy that I bought (honor system!) at the down stairs pantry. It was perfect for my needs. There was a mini kitchen, and that was great because I didnt want to go and eat out. Fridge was clean, microwave, stove, 1 pot, coffee maker, dishwasher, sink, good enough counter space. Dishes were clean in the dishwasher. The hotel isnt new, but the room i got was decent and clean and quiet, which was important because Im a very light sleeper. Bathroom was well-stocked - shower stuff, hair dryer, towels. It would be helpful though if there was hand soap for the kitchen. 3 things though: 1. I couldnt find the switch to turn the light off under the microwave, so the kitchen counter light was on the whole night. 2. I couldnt adjust the AC/Heater temp to my liking, not that it was a dealbreaker for me as the room temp was fine. It was on auto. 3. I couldnt turn the tv on with the 2 remote controls. Thankfully, I was too tired to watch tv for it to matter greatly. To me, the room being clean was more important. The bed mattress was comfy, not too hard and too soft. The sheets were clean and spotless, so i felt safe laying down. Ive heard of bugs & someone else's hairs on hotel beds, so im always checking. There was ample parking in front and at the back. The wifi worked well for me. Overall, id recommend this place if your in Phoenix. It was reasonably priced, and during this pandemic, it was clean enough. There were hand sanitizers around. And except for one guy walking outside, everybody wore masks. read more

Stayed here 2 nights. Front desk was kind and efficient. Room was clean and newly renovated. Easy access to the highway. Only down fall is it's too close to the highway, loud at night, and the AC is loud. Other then that totally satisfied! Reasonably priced!! read more

Why come here instead of the other dozen hotels??? They have a "borrowing" system: dvds, board games, books And utensils for the grill...like a spatula which is exactly what we needed after grilling some burgers on one of their two thats available! And to top it off they have a honor system? Who still trust people is 2014???? Apparently they do! And hotel rocks for that! Front desk is amazing! And the best of all....its free WiFi! Hell Yeah! I have a few more days here so hopefully i won't have to edit! One complaint...they're like an extended stay hotel so housekeeping is only done once a week...so just treat there rooms like you would treat your own...keep em clean! And it's pet friendly hotel, so there were a few scratches on the arm chair but nothing you can't over look! My next visit I'll be using them again! Keep up the good work Candlewood! read more

For the price, location, set up and cleanliness of the room, and all the little extras involved, I thought this was a good place. However, someone before me in the room must have had a cat because the smell is pretty overwhelming. Had I stayed more than a single night, that would've been an issue. Still, I'd recommend Extended Stay and will probably be back to this same location pretty soon. (Though I'll probably ask to inspect the room prior.) read more

I would've loved to give this hotel 5 stars. The room was clean & had every amenity one could need. But the whole reason my husband & I boooked a hotel for 2 days was to escape the sweltering heat of our house while our ac was out. But to be honest our house wouldve been more comfortable than this hotel. The AC didnt kick on at all even though we turned it down to 70 degrees. After the 1st night we went home to get our fans so we could at least try to get some sleep the next night. But we still sweated our butts off all night. Either the hotel is being cheap & not allowing guests to turn the air to their desired temperature or it actually doesnt work... note to management- checkout the ac in room 331 before renting it out again. I would hate for someone else to get ripped off like we did. read more

Very clean and staff very courteous and friendly, willing to go out there way to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Great North PHX very convenient centralized location and close to many restaurants (next to great Cajun/Seafood Papadeaux's),bars golf courses & entertainment. Great Awesome big park with sports complex, playground DIRECTLY behind the property to walk & view the mountains - or relax by their clean pool or BBQ on their 2 clean gas units. I am staying even longer than I intended! First stay at this location while traveling on business. Areas of the building (both exterior and interior) appear rundown and in need of a cosmetic makeover. The area that it is located in is another issue. The nightly rate for a stay here is just too much!! They do not include breakfast like most hotels that typically charge this rate. They also do not provide daily housekeeping which would be nice. If this is a cost-cutting thing, then they should not charge the rates that they do. Decided to try candlewood suites instead of HI express. Price was too good to pass up. When i walked in i felt like an old style motel 6, small and closed in. I felt like leaving. The rooms are real nice though, full kitchen. Quiet, no need for ear plugs. Great workout room and laundry. Nice park behind hotel with walking and riding trail. Jacuzzi was perfect. Dvds and games available. Front desk very helpful. There are two large cans at the end of each hallway one large blue for recycling and a white metal for trash, very unappealing. Definitely takes away from the look of the hotel. read more

I wanted to update my review. I've stayed here multiple times, all different lengths of stays, and I feel this place needs another one. I booked a particularly long review and upon check in, the woman at the front desk handed me my keys and said "welcome to the family" with a smile. What a great beginning to our stay! The room was perfect, the A/C was ice cold when I needed it to be, the amount of drawers and other places for storage came in handy! Within a day or two, everyone at the front desk greeted me by name. There customer service is OUTSTANDING! They took care of any problem immediately and really seemed to care. I have been living out of hotels and moving around since April of 2009 so I have seen my fair share of hotels. I stayed at this particular Candlewood for over six months and I was actually sad to leave. Customer Service- To me customer service either makes or breaks a place. The staff here is exceptional in this area. They call and leave a message in your room when you have mail to pick up, there is always someone readily available to help at the front desk, and they resolve any issues quickly. During my stay here the dishwasher stopped working. They had someone there first thing the next day to install a brand new one. I always looked forward to talking with the staff members every day, especially the girls at the front desk. During my stay there I really felt at home. Facilities- Okay, so you shouldn't go in expecting the Hilton. As far as appearance goes it's really a no frills kind of place. But it has all of the essentials and they keep everything very clean and well-stocked. The pool is open 24/7 and also has a hot tub. I really took this for granted during my stay because I didn't realize just how rare it was to have a pool with 24/7 access. After a really hot Phoenix day there was nothing nicer than grilling a good dinner on the outdoor patio, jumping in the pool and enjoying an ice cold margarita (not provided by the hotel of course). Their exercise room is one of the nicest I have seen out of all the Candlewood Hotels I've stayed it, based on variety. They have 2 treadmills, an eliptical, a bike, a stair climber, a floor mat, an ab machine and a weight machine. Everything is well laid out and kept clean. There is a water fountain and they provide towels and santizer to wipe down the machine. The laundry room has everything you need...although you want to try to do your laundry before peak times. There are rude and impatient guests who will throw your clothes out of the machines even before they have finished their cycle. (Pet peeve!) Added bonus...this hotel is next to a TGI Fridays and an AMAZING seafood restaurant, Pappadeaux. So, if you want a comfortable extended stay hotel, stay at this Candlewood. I was only here for one night, but my husband stayed here for the whole week prior to me arriving. We were supposed to stay for the following week but moved to the Holiday Inn, for several reasons which I will list below. My husband called me the 2nd day of his stay saying that the toilet pipe had burst in the early morning hours and there was more than an inch of water in the bathroom and seeping into the carpet. He had to show the "repair man" how to turn off the water to the toilet. It was eventually repaired but the toilet didn't flush very well afterwards and took forever to refill. The AC in the room had to be set on high and run constantly but the room rarely got below 85 degrees. There wasn't a separate unit for the bedroom so it was very stuffy. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so the room also heated up when you took a shower. The freezer didn't work that well and any ice that came out of the icemaker immediately formed a giant block of ice. The 4th night of my husband's stay, a guest was given a key card to our room and tried to enter at 1AM. Luckily my husband is a light sleeper and had engaged the safety lock. Turns out, it was a young man who was supposed to be in the room across the hall. Why the front desk gave him our room number and a key to our room was never explained. I arrived in the early afternoon the 2nd week and went directly up the the room my husband was in. There was no one at the front desk when I walked in. The hallways and elevator were stifling (it was 110 outside). I entered the room expecting nice cool air. Nope. Despite setting the AC on the lowest temp and highest fan speed, I sweated for the next 24 hours. My husband had the "repair man" look at the unit and he said it was working the best it could. The queen bed seemed smaller than it should have been and the bedroom was so small, you could barely walk around the bed. After using the toilet for the 2nd time and it not flushing, I made the decision to move to another hotel. I've stayed at other Candlewood Suites before and had a lot better experiences. I chalk this up to it being an older property with insufficient maintenance. Most likely won't stay at this one again. read more

The birth certificate was not valid ID. My room had no working AC or heat. But being December in Phoenix, doable but stuffy or chilly at times. Last night there. Shower won't shut off ,nothing can be done. I must move to another room. With a weeks worth of unpacked things to quickly move late at night. This is a great place to stay in PHX. I have family in the Valley and have stayed here several times over the last year or so and have never been disappointed. The rooms have a small stove, fridge, sink, microwave, and dishwasher. The staff is super nice and helpful. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. This is a great value in the PHX area. read more
