It's always better to stay after an update, but i think our room was already renovated. I was a bit nervous having a first floor room closest to the front desk, but it was quiet. Check in was easy, the helpful lady gave me a parking pass ( $7 a night ). If you don't have a car, the hotel is on the street car line. Part of the back parking lot was full of containers as part of the renovation project. I always tried to get a spot in front of the building, the entrance is one way. I didn't have a chance to use the pool. Business Center, or fitness center. There was a coffee machine in the room, it was faster and easier just to pop to the lobby. They had coffee 24/7. I stayed here for a work event. The hotel is under construction with no gym access. Although the staff did all they could given the circumstances it just wasn't enough. The lobby has a huge eye sore. The noise of workers starts as early as 8am. I couldn't get any sleep the entire time I was there. read more

Well they're updating the hotel but it's gone downhill over the last couple years. They now charge you for parking. At a Fairfield? Come on Marriott. Our room looked like it had been updated but badly. This is the first room we've ever had at a Fairfield that you could see the corridor from inside the room (see picture). And the curtains in our north facing room couldn't block out the 24 hour lights from the drive through restaurant next door. I don't know if it's the gap in the door but we had a cricket in the room. And the A/C unit sounded like it was on its last leg even though it did cool the room. Unacceptable for sure. read more

Our team stayed at Fairfield Inn & Suites Phoenix Midtown for a three-day tournament weekend, and we had a wonderful experience. Traveling with a large group of teenagers can sometimes make parents and coaches extra mindful about keeping things calm and respectful. After winning our tournament, our players were understandably excited and walked into the hotel celebrating, singing loudly, and enjoying their big victory. As parents and coaches, we were trying to quiet them down out of courtesy to the hotel and other guests. That is when we met Jamicka, who was absolutely incredible. Instead of being frustrated, she welcomed the team's excitement with warmth and positivity. She even joined in singing and dancing with them, which made the moment so special and memorable for our players. She truly went above and beyond and showed such genuine kindness and professionalism. Jamicka is a class act and made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and because of experiences like this, we would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to other families and traveling teams. This is currently being renovated. We didn't mind that, but Marriott could have told us. This is not up to Marriott standards. It is dirty. The pool is old and beat up. Is this a work release co-op for the local inmate release program? The entire vibe is lost here. We would not recommend staying here. Local PD had to keep homeless from coming in. There are better options. Pluses- friendly front desk and manager, also good breakfast as per usual for a Fairfield Inn. read more

This is the 2nd Fairfield Inn Marriott that has disappointed lately. I get that the building is a bit old and needs some TLC, which I don't hold against them. However, for a Marriott brand one would expect some attention to the cleanliness of the rooms, which is 100% within their control. There are marks on the carpet and the shower tub is filled with stains (see pic). It makes one not wanting to use the shower. These things can easily be cleaned up and the place, while shows it's age, would feel must nicer. Otherwise, the front desk staff is nice, and offers the usual Fairfield hot breakfast in the morning. read more

I stayed at this hotel about two and a half years ago and wasn't impressed with the conditions or the cleanliness of the room, but there have been some major renovations since I was last here and the rooms are much better. I was staying with a group of people so we booked a suite for two nights this past weekend. $260 for the first night and $170 for the second (not including taxes). These prices were a lot higher than what this hotel usually charges, even for a suite. I don't know what made this particular weekend different because our reservation was booked months ago and looking on the hotel's availability, no other weekend this month has rates this high. On the first night I was here, there was a group of people hanging around a parked car across the street from the hotel and they were making a lot of noise. There was nothing I could do about it but it was really annoying because they were out there making a ruckus for over an hour and at one point they were joined by a hotel employee who seemed to know the group. My biggest issue with my visit was about the parking situation. There wasn't a parking fee the last time I was here but now they charge you $7 per day and you need a little tag to hang from your vehicle's rearview mirror. There is ongoing construction on the ground floor and the hotel has blocked off the entire back half of the parking lot for the construction equipment and materials which are being stored in shipping containers. This information was not provided to me at check in, or that the parking fee was $7 per day. The lady at the front desk told me it would be $7, implying a one-time fee. I had initially parked my car in a space near the front of the building but after I left and came back from picking up my group at the airport in the evening, there was no place to park. With half the lot blocked off the guests were resorting to double parking or squeezing their vehicles into the aisles. I positioned my car near one of the shipping containers and went to the front desk to ask what I should do about the lack of parking. The only evening shift employee wasn't there (a sign at the desk said she was in the restroom) and when she came back she told me that I should move my car. This was the same employee who was hanging out with the loud group I saw earlier. She said I could leave my car where it was, but it could be towed away if the construction crews couldn't get into the shipping container. Apparently it was the managers' responsibility to handle the parking situation and this employee was about to clock out for the night so she didn't care. I asked why this information was not provided to guests at check in or why the hotel didn't have a sign or something, but the employee just shrugged and said it wasn't her responsibility. The managers wouldn't be in until the morning so there was nothing she could do. She asked what room I was in and then she said she would leave a note for the managers to refund the $7 parking fee for the inconvenience. I moved my car around to the front of the building but I was partially blocking the path towards the entrance of the hotel (there was some space for a small vehicle to pass). There was nothing else I could do because there was nowhere else to park. I wasn't able to move my car into an actual parking spot until after 10am the following morning. When I checked out on Monday morning and reviewed the receipt, I found out about the $7 per day parking fee and the fact that the management had not refunded the fee for the first day. The rest of my group said to let it go and it wasn't worth the hassle. We were able to get parking on the second day because there were significantly fewer people staying here but the attitude of the staff and the general notion of "We're going to charge you for parking but won't guarantee a place for you to park" is ridiculous. I know the construction won't last forever and the lot will open up again at some point, but I don't know if I'll stay at this hotel again. Next time I'm in this area, I'll look into one of the other hotels a few blocks north. read more

Decent price for a hotel stay for the weekend. It is a budget friendly hotel centrally located to many amenities. Housekeeping is hit or miss. Free breakfast is very well stocked and pretty good. Pool and jacuzzi were excellent. However, they needed to stock towels. Breakfast was pretty good. They have well stocked breakfast items on the weekdays. Weekends are less stocked and you need to get up early to get the best food. There is construction going on in the hotel. Parking is $7 per day. read more

Second weekend in a row we were in Phoenix to visit our kids. We stayed at a different hotel the previous weekend but wanted something closer to downtown this time around. We chose this hotel. It is in a great location. Minutes to Roosevelt Row and other areas for great restaurants. Close to the airport, and about 20 minutes to both Scottsdale, where our son was, and to North Phoenix, where our daughter lives. Probably 20-25 minutes to nearby Chandler and Gilbert. We checked in at about 12:30 pm on a Saturday and were allowed to go to our room immediately, which was nice in the 114 degree heat. The young female clerk was efficient and pleaseant, if not overly friendly. we had asked for and were given a room on the 2nd floor. The room was average size, with two queen beds, and clean. They give you four pillows, which I really like. The beds were quite comfortable, and I slept well both nights that we were there, though the second night I awoke at 4:30 am, for some reason. The AC worked great, and the shower water pressure was good. They do have a complimentary breakfast, which we didn't partake of the first morning, but did the second morning. It's your standard fare: scrambled eggs, [Canadian] bacon, cereals, juices, coffee (just OK), yogurt, and pastries The dining area is spacious. Be aware that they do charge for parking, $7 a day. I'm not crazy about that, as our hotel last weekend did not charge. However, for this downtown area, other hotels charge more, so you probably won't escape a charge. If we wanted to stay again in this area of Phoenix, we would probably stay here again. read more

I'd give a 0 review if I could. We've had a long travel day. Checked into our hotel approx. 10:15-10:30pm for a two day stay. The first thing I noticed was the hand towel hanging in the bathroom had clearly been used. I lifted the toilet seat to use the restroom and the toilet has also clearly been used and not cleaned. Stains on the toilet seat. But the icing on the cake was the absolute disgusting toe nail clippings we found on the carpet next to the bed and along with some crusty white residue on the blue bed skirt. This room had clearly not been cleaned. I called down to the front desk to ask if they can send someone up to clean the room for us and he informed me there was no one available at this hour as it was now 11pm. I asked if I could at least get some cleaning supplies and I'd clean it myself. The front desk employee was very friendly and helpful and offered to bring us some cleaning supplies to at least clean the toilet but after all the other dirty things we found we asked for a room change. Only to be informed they were all sold out. We were instructed to call the corporate number to see if they could get us a stay at another one of their hotels nearby but they said they could not unless we pay the difference. I would absolutely not recommend this company of this hotel. Despite the wonderful and kind front desk employee, this was a terrible hotel. read more

Stayed here for one night while attending a pre season Arizona Cardinals game with the kiddies. The hotel was nice, clean. Breakfast had good selection. They offered cereal, yogurt, oatmeal with all the fixings, eggs, sausage, biscuits and egg frittatas. Get there early for the freshest food. It was further from the stadium, which was my fault for not checking, but gave us a chance to see more of the city. There's a few restaurants in the vicinity. Plenty of parking. There is a fee for parking. Staff were nice. Overall, a good stay. read more

BLUF: I do not recommend this hotel. It is fairly inexpensive and the staff is friendly but it is filthy and unsanitary. How is this part of the Marriott brand? We arrived and the staff was super friendly, even providing a very nice welcome gift. I would say this was one of the nicest welcome gifts I've received as a Titanium member. We went to our room and it was very apparent the note is aging. The chipping paint and dirty walls were an initial indicator. We get to our room and my 8year old daughter tells me to not use the bathroom as it is dirty. See the picture of the toilet with urine on it. Then I looked at the tub(see picture) and it is stained dirty...luckily I brought shower shoes. If we had not been so tired and not checked in we would have gone to another hotel. If the toilet and tub are nasty and dirty then one would assume the sheets and floor are equally dirty. The next morning we went down to breakfast and there was hardly anything. The staff had not been paying attention to the breakfast bar at all. My daughter wanted waffles but when I saw how grotesquely dirty and nasty the waffle maker station was (see pictures) we decided we could not eat there. The waffle makers had grease caked on it from weeks or months of not being washed properly. This was without a doubt one of the dirtiest Marriott brand hotels we have stayed in over the past 30 years. I've stayed in Hotels in Latin America, Europe and Africa and this was the worst in terms of cleanliness. I only give two stars due to the location and the friendliness of the staff. read more

This place was just OK. My favorite thing was the room size and my least favorite was the service. We had the suite and it was big. I only paid $100 for this room so I wasn't expecting much but the size was impressive. Otherwise the room was dated, but clean. Some missing paint here and there, the toilet didn't quite flush right, old carpet, but it was acceptable. The service was definitely lacking. From the service without a smile at check-in to the weird breakfast janitor who playfully but aggressively scolded my infant for eating messily, everyone we interacted with seemed like they hated their job. This place really needs to get itself together service-wise. It's cheap but I'd skip it next time. There's lots of other choices in Phoenix. read more

This centrally located hotel was a pleasant surprise, very clean, in a quiet location next to the lovely Willow Neighborhood, perfect for morning walks. The hotel had a sparkling pool, the staff were great and they still do daily housekeeping service, unlike a competing hotel chain. I really liked that they have some feather pillows which are great for ergonomic neck support. The breakfast was typical fare, heavy on the starch and sugar and with some prepackaged egg sandwich or omelette type items and scrambled eggs and a meat choice. They did have fresh salsa both green and red which was very nice. I was disappointed in the fruit, yogurt and oatmeal, as only sugary instant oatmeal and sugar sweetened yogurt were offered and the bananas on the days I stayed were overripe to the point where one that I tried was completely black throughout. Overall I would stay here again for the price, comfort and location. read more

Stayed for 2 nights at Fairfield Inn and was pleasantly surprised. The room was very big and the bathroom was also spacious. The AC/heating system was very effective in bringing up and down the temperature of the room. The gym is dismal - 2 treadmills, an old stairmaster, an elliptical, and some medicine balls. The complimentary breakfast was vegan friendly. Yes, it was just oatmeal, toppings and fruit but that's good enough for me! My only complaint is that the walls are sort of thin and we were able to hear the room next to us if they were speaking loudly. Otherwise, a great stay at a fair price! read more

I didn't see anyone maintaining the breakfast the 20 min I was down there.... and it shows. I stayed a little while waiting for "Canadian" bacon only to be disappointed no one showed. To be completely honest, I had low expectations for this place. But I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving here! The room is a little dated, but the TV system is great! You can use your own Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts to watch TV, so that's super convenient. Because of COVID, the breakfast is Grab and Go, I thought it was a little lacking because everything is cold. My recommendation would be to add a breakfast burrito or breakfast sandwich since all the rooms have microwaves anyways but hey, I guess I'm just being picky. They provided your choice of juice, cereal/milk, bagel or muffin, and yogurt. What made this stay great though was definitely my first impression with Shaakira. She is the epitome of customer service! She checked us in promptly, let us know everything we needed to know about breakfast, pool hours, wifi and was super kind and thorough about everything. She smiled and made eye contact and not in a fake way but in a way that I appreciate so much more now since more often than not, customer service is lacking in a lot of these 3 star hotels. Shaakira really made this place stand out and made it so it will be my go-to whenever I am in the metro phoenix area. read more

I've stayed at this hotel about 4 times. I believe we won't stay here again. We reserved the Jr. suite from 12/26/23-1/1/24 To begin our check in time was at at 3:00pm;we arrived at 3:45pm and our room wasn't ready. Housekeeping lost my towel. The room was filthy. There was items from previous visitors underneath the beds. When we pulled out the pullout bed the mattress had so many stains on it that it looked horrifying and stunck like urine. All the corners of both of those rooms where filthy, congested with dust and filth in every corner and edge. Housekeeping ( which was only done 3 times) consisted of 3 towels and trash. No vacuum, no bathroom cleaning the same sheets were left on the beds and the same wet towels were left in a corner. I left a note to the manager regarding the situation with my name and number at the front desk. I requested her to call me back but I guess that's not going to happen. Like eventually our stay at this location. Like the Marriot APP says BONVOY-age!!!!! read more

Stayed for a night. Got a room downstairs right next to the road/parking lot. The lights from the street vehicles beams right into the room and the curtain does not fully close. Got a change of room. Requested for a yogurt in the evening (either for purchase or from their breakfast menu) and mentioned that I had an upset stomach and most other nearby places are closed. The person who was at the checkin desk mentioned that she's new and does not know how to handle the request. I was surprised that she could not make a call and meet my request. As a former employee, and hospitality management graduate - disappointed. Kennedy at the front, from the beginning was rude, unfriendly, and not helpful. She was unwilling to find a resolution to my aunts authorization form which somehow got lost and then later told it expired? LOL. This was a gift to my husband, myself and my children who is ACTIVE DUTY and this all happened on Memorial Day of all days. I chose this hotel to reminisce on my memories of working here and living downtown, and the pride that this hotel once had in their customer care. From the snarky remarks, unwillingness to assist, to the "byeeeeeee have a nice day" when I told her her customer service was unacceptable, she needs to be retrained on the LEARN method, I was once taught as an employee here. Do not recommended for the horrible experience, I was treated like a scumbag. When I was nothing but respectful, Maybe it was my pink hair and tattoos and piercings, but she needs to be taught not everyone is out to stay at hotels for the wrong reasons. I have worked hospitality many many years, and I am here with my three children and husband as a visit to Phoenix and to drop my kiddo off at the airport! So yeah no more. We had the pleasure of staying for the weekend and enjoyed the experience. The check-in clerks were friendly and set the tone. Our room was clean and a decent size bathroom (we had a king bed room). The TV is programmable with your hulu, Netflix or whatever you enjo th at home with your account. It also had free HBO! The ac worked great as it was 110F when we visited. They serve a hot breakfast until 10am for free which include 2 waffle making grills I didn't photograph. But breakfast details are great there.. even tasty dates! The Cheese omelets and Canadian bacon were also welcomed. The pool is nice but one hidden feature is.. THEY HAVE A JACUZZI! So that's nice. 11pm curfew. We stayed in a 2 room suite (1 bedroom, 1 living room) which had 2 queen size beds and a sofa bed in the living room for $249/night in March 2015. Compared to SpringHill Suites, which is Marriott's upper-moderate priced hotel (which we also stayed in on the same trip), we liked this one much better. GOOD Hotel is within 5 min drive to 10 and 17 freeway access 15-20min from the airport Separate bedroom and living room separated by a door. Bathroom is inside the bedroom 2 sinks - one inside toilet/shower, one in the bedroom vanity area. Microwave/small refrigerator/sink in the kitchenette area. Front desk staff extremely pleasant and helpful Free wifi Free parking Free shuttle within 3 miles, good if you go out to dinner. Free airport shuttle Free fitness center (open 24 hours) Pool and spa Free continental breakfast with an awesome Waffle maker, Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, hard boiled eggs, pastries, toast, apples, banana yogurt, coffee. I just checked into the hotel & let me tell you, the whole experience has been awesome! For starters, Joseph at the front desk helped me out with a great rate & an early check in. I'm here on a last minute business trip & was struggling to find a hotel that would allow me to check in at 12 pm. So I hope Fairfield reads these reviews, because you have one hell of an employee in Joseph. The rooms are very clean, & very nice. The bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is as clean a bathroom as I've seen in a while...& I travel quite a bit. All that and with a prime location in downtown Phoenix. Fairfield suites has gone above and beyond all of my expectations! Now if you could only do something about this heat! 111?! How the hell do AZ residents put up with an entire summer of this heat?! I can't rate the rooms or the complimentary breakfast or anything, because I didn't actually stay there. I am only rating the service and competence of their reservations system, because I dealt with them when trying to make a reservation for one of our clients. My company typically likes to use this hotel for reservations bc it is close to us and convenient for our clients to stay at. However, this past time, the reservations were a mess. First, they told us at check in that we had never put down a form of payment and filled out a permission form to use our company credit card -- we HAD and our assistant had specifically spoken with someone about this. But anyway, I decided to just put down my credit card and have my company reimburse me. So I gave them my info, but for some reason later they asked our client for HIS credit card info and ended up charging his card instead of mine! wth?! Makes NO SENSE. So the next week our assistant had to call them and sort the whole mess out and get the credit put back on our client's card. Just a totally needless hassle and so unprofessional to mess it up not once but twice. read more

A very nice & clean hotel. Stayed here for Spring Training to see the Brewers. The hotel was located in a business commercial district about 8 miles east of Maryvale & 8 miles west of Scottsdale (Thomas road pretty much goes directly to each). Overall this was a clean & organized hotel. The room was big & the bed was comfortable. There was a small refrigerator & microwave. Breakfast was ok. There was the standard continental breakfast fare + waffles/eggs. The hotel is located right off the light rail (couldn't hear it from our room) which is connected to the airport. read more

I stayed more than 30 hotels last year including independent, Marriott, Residence Inn, Hilton, Fairfield and others. This hotel was one of the best I have ever stayed. All the staff people were super friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean inside out. They even gave me a bottle of water and snack when I checked in even though I am no SPG elite member this year (so already better service than other major chain hotels which requires elite statuses to even get a bottle of water). I had such a comfortable night as well since my room was so quiet. The WiFi was also fast. I usually don't like to take a bath in a tub (just take a shower) because I am a bit clean freak and can't fall asleep since I am sensitive to the noise. But this hotel was so clean so I took a bath and slept solid 8 hours. And they sent me a personal thank you email, which I thought was so sweet! Highly recommended! read more

First time visit to this Fairfield inn. Booked in the morning and checkin via the app for an after 8pm arrival. Located in the art's district of Phoenix, just north of downtown, steps away from Museums and theatres (if it wasn't so darn hot you could walk). When we arrived at 8:30, we were politely greeted and given our keys to the room, I did not notice if there was digital keys on the app, but since we were here for only one night did not look into it. Since I am a Marriott's reward member, I was given a gift bag with water and snack and thanked for visiting. Our Room on the 4th floor, was cooled to 74 degrees (remember it is still over 100's outside at 8:30 at night). Nice touch, have been to Phoenix area resorts before, where no one has bother to cool the room ahead of your arrival. Room was clean and pleasant, We had 2 queen beds and it was very large. Had a desk, with office chair and 2 additional lounge chairs in the room. Microwave and fridge. No noise from the air Conditioner, which is a plus. Breakfast in the morning on the weekend started at 7am. With lots of options. During our stay they had Scrambled eggs, Cheese omelets, Bacon, Canadian bacon, grapes, melon, waffles, oatmeal + lots of toppings, yogurt, cereals, breads and pastries, hard boiled eggs,etc. Coffee unfortunately was severed in Carafes and wasn't as hot as it could be as it probably needed to be refilled. Good thing is they offered Syrups and different creamers such as Soy for those that want or need to get a bit fancy with their coffee. Pretty happy with my stay here. In town for business- the room was clean and quiet- staff was really friendly. Location is perfect- central to everything and close to downtown- easy to walk or light rail to a variety of different places for food and entertainment. Will definitely stay here again. read more

I came to Phoenix for training for work. Of most all of the hotels I have stayed in in this area, this hotel exceeded my expectations. It is one of the few with free parking, free breakfast, AND a pool and hot tub, both of which were clean and nice. The rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, and it is so close to many attractions. Staff is very friendly and accommodating- they keep a basket of menus for ordering delivery food at the front desk! I will be staying here again! read more
