We visited for Father's Day, and everything was amazing! We started with the buffalo chicken chili dip. I expected it to be served hot, but it came out cold--still delicious, though. We also ordered the giant pretzel, which was really good. We tried a variety of drinks before taking the tour, which costs $10. I highly recommend booking it online ahead of time. Our tour guide was fantastic--very knowledgeable and engaging. The tour lasted a little over an hour, but if you need to leave early, you're free to do so. After the tour, everyone in your group receives a tasting, and the $10 tour fee can be applied toward the purchase of a bottle, which we ended up doing. Pho on Wheels was there as well, and it was amazing. We'll definitely be back! They have a few chairs under the cover outside, but I would definitely recommend bringing your own or a blanket to sit on. They have live music, which was amazing, not too loud. read more

What a great time. I visited Song Dog for the first time last week. Everyone was so inviting and nice. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the bartenders who immediately fell in love in with my dog lol. Since I was meeting one of my friends I decided to sit at the bar which was cool. I was able to get acquainted with the bartenders who shared some history of the distillery and gave great suggestions for food and specialty cocktails. I ordered the Song dog old fashioned first. It was delicious. It was a little on the sweet side but still had the edge of an old fashioned. Next, I ordered the Penicillin cocktail which was very flavorful with honey, lemon, and bourbon. My friend ordered the Hibiscus highball which he really enjoyed. He mentioned that it was on the sweeter side but was still strong and enjoyable. The ambiance was really nice. Song dog is located in the middle of farm land so they have plenty of space on the grounds. They have outdoor seating as well as fire pits which is always a good time. Inside they have bar seating as well as tables. Sometimes they have food trucks come by which is always nice however, they do sale snacks as well. They are very dog friendly too (if you couldn't tell by the name LOL). They gave my dog water and were very accommodating to any need that he may have had. Overall, it was a great time. This is one of my first times as a distillery. Song Dog is on the newer side and looks very modern. They have a few tables inside and many tables outside. My server wasn't as present and didn't offer the best customer service, but it might've just been off moment. Their food options are light, but sometimes they have a food vendor outside. For example, the day I went they had a taco vendor outside. There's a big grass area to picnic and for kids to play, but no playground. read more

This stop was intended but a quick drink before dinner. We stayed so long and enjoyed so many appetizers it just became dinner and drinks. There was an activity for kids while we were there. Arts and crafts designed to give the parents some free time. Definitely worth it so the kids got to have fun as well. The staff here were all so friendly and experienced with the drinks. We visited Song Dog Farm Distillery for a birthday celebration and had such a great time. The setting alone is worth the trip. It has a beautiful farm atmosphere with open space, outdoor seating around fire pits, and views that make you want to slow down and enjoy the day. The space felt very welcoming and family friendly. We didn't have children in our group, but there were several families there enjoying the afternoon together, which added to the relaxed and community feel of the place. The food was simple but really good. The spinach dip was warm, cheesy, and perfect with the toasted bread, and the hummus was fresh and delicious as well. We brought our own birthday cake to celebrate, which the staff had no problem accommodating and it made the gathering feel even more special. The drinks were great too. I highly recommend the Bees Knees if you visit. There is also an outside bar, which made things very convenient when our group grew larger and we decided to move outside and enjoy the weather. A huge shoutout to Seth, who took care of our table. He was incredibly personable, attentive, and made everyone feel genuinely welcome. His energy really added to the experience and helped make the celebration feel easy and fun. It was about an hour drive for us, but the trip was smooth since the local roads aren't congested. Just watch out for the speed cameras in the residential neighborhoods on the way in. The drive to song dog on a brisk Saturday afternoon was beautiful. The horse farms and countryside made it lovely. When you pull up to the property, the bold choice of a black building makes a massive impact visually. We came to song dog with a group of about 12 over several hours. The cocktails are well balanced and not sweet, which is an invited surprise. The liquor is of good quality so they rely on the quality as to not over sugar the mix ins. This was 10/10 experience! I cannot stop raving about my time at Song Dog. My cousin and Mom took the drive out to Boyds to check out the new distillery. My Dad could not make it but we are definitely going back so he can try out the flights! Matt , Dre and Patrick were SO sweet and kind! Matt gave us the guided tasting of the flight and it was such a great session! They have small bites so definitely get the spinach dip! It was delicious. From guided tastings and small bites to a behind-the-scenes distillery tour and fireside lounging, every detail was top tier. I had a great time at their Grand Opening. It's a chill spot with plenty of parking (in the grass mostly). They sell cocktails and bottles of their liquor. The bottles they had were Vodka, Gin, Rye, Bourbon, Rock & Rye, and Coffee Liqueur. Their cocktails included: Song Dog Old Fashioned Rock N' Rye Penicillin Chamomile Bee's Knees Espresso Martini Hibiscus Highball Amazon Spritz I enjoyed the Hibiscus Highball - slightly tart, but a smooth drink. Some folks next to me said they enjoyed their Old Fashioned and the Bee's Knees. I'll have to try the Chamomile Bee's Knees on my next visit, as I kept overhearing many people ordering it that day. I've visited 4 times and each visit was great. I love the ambiance and the servers are on top of it. Each visit, I'd try a new drink from the menu. All were good with just the right amount of alcohol for me. I enjoyed the food from the food trucks and the menu from the bar. Simple dishes but delicious. You have to try the spinach dip. Kiddos like the pizzas. Last week they had a band and I enjoyed listening to the music. They were not too loud so you can still enjoy the conversations. They have games and I especially like watching both small kids and teens enjoy the grounds. Definitely a place for family to enjoy and you can bring your dog! If I want to enjoy the outdoor, sit back and enjoy drinks and apps, this place is in rotation. Highly recommend. read more

Song Dog Farm Distillery is Montgomery County's brand-new destination distillery. It's set on 29 scenic acres of the Agricultural Reserve. This stunning distillery includes a tasting room and cocktail bar perfect for sipping, relaxing, and connecting. Huge thanks to owner and conservation ecologist Megan Draheim and the entire team for the private tour and warm hospitality during our hosted @dmvdoes visit. The sustainably built distillery produces bourbon, rye, gin, vodka, liqueurs, and ready-to-pour cocktails right on-site. We sampled their Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Straight Rye Whiskey and Gin. We enjoyed the Song Dog Old Fashioned, Rock N' Rye, Chamomile Bee's Knees, and a refreshing Blueberry Lemonade. We also grabbed sliders, fries, and tots from DMV slider which was the featured food truck on site. This family- and dog-friendly space features indoor and outdoor bars, rotating food trucks, live music, and plenty of room for over 100 guests to gather and unwind. This review has taken me so long to write because there was a lot I enjoyed about Song Dog. Megan and her husband are the owners of this grain to glass distillery that opened two weeks ago in Boyds, MD. Where's Boyds you ask? It's on the south side of Little Seneca Lake and west of Germantown. They take pride in using all Maryland products to create their four different spirits: vodka, bourbon, gin, and rye whiskey. They also offer seasonal cocktails and all come in gorgeous keepsake bottles with beautiful artwork. Every aspect was carefully chosen to display their spirits. I first sampled their Rock & Rye which is a bottled cocktail that has history back so far that when it was explained to me I instantly remembered my mom telling stories of her mom using it as cough syrup back in th day. I knew I was going home with a bottle before trying anything else. My group was treated to a tour and Megan who owns the farm with her husband provided a lot of detail about their process from the beginning with crop selection through the end with different types of aging in muti levels of char. We met their pot still named Carl who is gorgeous and shiny before we toured the barrel room which stores some barrels from when they first started in 2020. Inside their tasting room you're able to sample, purchase, and order their spirits in bottles, merch, or cocktail form. I chose the amaro spirit, since your girl loves a good amaro, and it was the perfect sip for a cool October evening outside. Fun Fact: I learned that all gin has to made with juniper berries! I had no idea. I've always shyed away from gin after hearing crazy hangover stories fun friends. The bottle is stunning and when I smelled it **** I could not believe all of the floral notes it contained. I was extremely excited to try it and couldn't stop myself from smelling it over and over. Only trusting Song Dog's gin. Do you see how gorgeous it looks at night?! The ambiance was everything you'd want in a distillery. If you're doggie's well behaved, they can come too. They have different food trucks each week and when we were there, DM Sliders provided food for the crowd who have a perm location on Sugar Loaf. I'll leave that review on their page. I've been here a couple times and love the place. It's clean and they have ample seating, inside and outside. The open field is a huge plus, especially if you have kids. Dogs are allowed inside as the food is from a food truck. They do have small bites available at the bar, but you're also free to bring food from outside. Parking isn't bad, and they have overflow parking in the grass. I haven't attended one, but they also have events on certain days. I would come here again and again. read more

I'm a whiskey person so i'll speak mostly to those. Initial batches were contract distilled by Sagamore Spirits. Their bourbon is a primarily bloody butcher red corn mash bill aged for about 5 years. Their rye is a 90/10 mash bill at about the same age. Many craft distillery whiskies have a distinct funkiness due to various factors like age and process but Song Dog's whiskey did not. I expect some change to the flavor as they start to blend in their own distillate and eventually go fully with their own distillate (hopefully for the better). The property was gorgeous and for the grand opening they premade all the cocktails so I was not able to make any adjustments but I will be back once they get into their groove. read more

If you're familiar with Windridge Vineyards, it's a few minutes from there. I was pleasantly surprised with their spirits I tried. They were very smooth! Imagine gin, vodka, bourbon (and more) that don't make you make a face when you drink them neat. No additives as well. This distillery is where agriculture and distillation intersect. Grains used in their products are grown on their own farm and nearby farms. They will also have cocktails that alcohol free (mocktails). Along with the light bites they will have, there will be revolving food trucks on their property. Tasting room is beautiful and modern. Everyone was very nice there and I especially love the bartender Alex, he was amazing and nice to chat with. read more

I was there in a day where a family held a birthday celebration but the kiddos had adequate space to frolic. Also props to the small food menu, which features a standout spinach artichoke dip, and a charcuterie board. Inexpensive yet elegant. As temps warm, I hope this place is packed out every weekend. What a fun fall day at this distillery. I spoke with Dave one of the owners a few days ago just to get information that we couldn't find on the website, he was so helpful and professional. The building still has that "new" feel but was very cozy and accommodating. The ambiance was relaxing, even the other patrons were great to talk to. Flat entry great for ADA access. Dog friendly establishment. Beautiful building with seats and tables on the outside patio as well as on the grass. There are a few heated lamps on the patio which seem to heat very well. Our group did the tour and John was our tour guide. With his extensive professional background, he answered all of our questions with ease. The staff was very friendly and professional; Seth, Matt, Patrick and the others were ready to assist. I did not get everyone's name but the service was impeccable. Even with a busy crowd, both inside and out, they serviced with a smile. We had the sample tasting for $15.00, which also included $10.00 off of whatever bottle of spirit we purchased. The unique design of the bottles is very beautiful. I am not much of a bourbon drinker but the diversity of the flavors was great. I ordered the blueberry lemonade with vodka; it was excellent. Between our group we ordered a variety of drinks from the menu and no one was disappointed. We did not purchase any food from the food truck, but the people at the next table seemed to really enjoy the food and it smelled delicious. We were able to bring in our own food. All in all we had a wonderful time at Song Dog and can't wait to visit again. read more

I was part of a group that toured the distillery, followed by a tasting of several of their products. This is a new facility in the Montgomery Coutnty Agricultural Reserve and, based on my experience, headed for a bright future. The tour guide, David, is one of the owners and his passion for his vocation is evident in the way he lovingly described every physical and mechanical aspect of the distillery. I've toured many of the distilleries in Kentucky and the Jack Daniel distillery in Tennessee and, although Song Dog is much smaller, the processes are much the same. There is a pot still that is quite impressive and the equipment is largely custom made. As for the tastings, the bourbon compares quite favorably with those in its price range, the gin is a good botanical, a coffee liquor was very good, as was the rock and rye. I did not try the rye. The bottling and labeling are exquisite, far superior to most, making any of their products impressive gifts. The setting is bucolic with ample seating. You can bring your own food, too. Support a local business and make Song Dog a place to spend a pleasant day with your family (pets included) and "responsibly" consuming some good alcoholic beverages. read more
