This review is long overdue as apparently I put this up somewhere else but forgot to post to Yelp. So here goes. Sonia (make up) and Korena (hair) are a dynamic duo perfectly suited to any bride. Having seem them at other weddings they effortlessly match their personality that of the wedding party whether it be boisterous and loud, laid back, or hung over. They are both ridiculously friendly with a great repertoire of stories. They nailed my hair and make up making it look natural (something I was nervous about since I don't actually own a hair dryer and never wear make up). Both the hair and make up lasted all night too! Tip: Initially at the make up trial I had a bad reaction to some of the products used around my eyes. So Sonia used a cream base instead at the wedding and it felt very comfortable and non-irritating. I also ended up needing special hair products after the initial consult. For this reason I definitely recommend a hair and make up trial beforehand. A year later I still think about what a great job these two did on my wedding day. read more

I hired Sonia Roselli for my wedding at the Brookfield Zoo on 7/18/15. Diana was my makeup artist and Korena was my hair stylist. They both did a FANTASTIC job!! I never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day. My hair and makeup stood up through the whole day - even through an unexpected torrential downpour and 95+ degree weather. My hair and eye lashes were even still going strong at our going away BBQ the next day!! They were both very professional and worked efficiently. I got great pointers on technique and looks that work best for me. I also own a custom blended lip gloss and several of her gel liners. I. LOVE. SONIA. end of story. It is SO not surprising to me that she was voted best make up artist by Chicago Magazine. Duh! My photographer recommended I meet with her to talk wedding makeup. My trial was fun and I felt right at home with her and the other estheticians (all sassy, smart, talented women) in her charming studio. It is hard not to feel glamorous sitting in there. We talked about my dress, my space, the feel of the day. Sonia listened, commented, offered alternative suggestions, and then proceeded to make me look beautiful. I wrote the next day with a question and promptly heard back from her. I was worried all that awesome would come at a cost. I found her prices well within what other artists quoted BUT got in addition the offer that the studio would be available for my attendants and me to gather in and toast the big day. I've now gone in for two facials that were simply divine. Jen is v. v. good. She's also helped nurse my brows back to health. Sonia's recently added a fabulous on-line scheduling system. If I decide at 3 AM I need a brow wax...I can schedule it! You receive immediate confirmation and can change/reschedule appointments. What's great, though, is that they are still on top of emails and phone calls. I've never once felt anything but valued by everyone there. The morning of the wedding is now something I'm so excited about....to see my friends in the boutique with big smiles. I think it will set such a lovely tone. I could not rave enough about Sonia!!! Sonia did my makeup and my 4 bridesmaids makeup for my wedding this March. We all looked AMAZING!! Stephanie (hair): Stephanie was awesome. She had tons of ideas and was willing to try lots of different styles. My hair was exactly what I wanted and best of all, it looked great the entire night long! She was also excellent at coming up with ideas for how to make my mom feel glamorous while being appropriate for her age. Several of my bridesmaids got their hair done by Stephanie and they all agreed- we have never looked this good before! Rebecca (makeup): Rebecca was phenomenal! She is truly an artist with her work. All of the women that got their makeup done looked flawless and unique. My mom cried when she saw the pictures of herself- she felt that she looked prettier on my wedding day than she did on her own wedding day 40 years ago! The best part was I put all the makeup on myself and learned each step of the way- a much better way to learn than watching someone else apply it. Her products and brushes are top notch! Everything I was able to sample was beautiful and wore really well for the entire day. As to the review that complained about the eye shadows being scraped- I'd much rather have a sample scraped off then someone else's dead skin cells all up on my face. Gross. Get over yourself. Sonia Roselli is a goddess. I have been in 2 other weddings this year besides my own, and I can tell you she is the best of the best. I have looked like a drag queen, had my eyelashes sloppily put on and fall off halfway through the ceremony, and had my hair so over sprayed that it was flattened to my face... and then I had them most wonderful experience as a Sonia Roselli bride. I have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day, and all of my girls and mother were thrilled with their hair and makeup! We all looked flawless in photos, which really is the best part. I loved Sonia for her bubbly, sassy personality - she was so much fun to have in the bridal suite! I read some other reviews claiming that Sonia Roselli was inflexible when it came to scheduling trails - I found this to be totally untrue! When I first booked with her, I was given celebrity stylists at a discounted rate because my wedding fell on an off day. Then, when my makeup artist was unavailable on the days I was trying to book my trials, I was again upgraded to Sonia herself. Unbelievable! Her rates are a little higher than others, but rightfully so. Hiring Sonia and her team is so worth the splurge! And if you're debating on lashes - you must must must have individual lashes (strips suck), which Sonia provides to her brides at no cost. Thank you Sonia for making us all GORGEOUS! I had a very positive experience with Sonia Roselli. First, Bridgit was very helpful throughout the process of booking hair and makeup and arranging trials with Sana (makeup) and Sara (hair). I did a trial for both hair and makeup, and would recommend that everyone do the same. During the trial we worked out any issues, so I had nothing to worry about on my wedding day. After my trial I felt confident that Sana and Sara understood the look I was going for, and that we meshed, personality-wise. On the day of the wedding, Sana and Sara were prompt and well-equipped to deal with any contingency (e.g., trimming clip-in extensions at the last minute, adjusting my makeup to accommodate my pre-wedding spray tan). They did hair and makeup for me, four bridesmaids, and the mothers. My group presented some challenges--extremely thick hair, processed hair, fine hair, very curly hair, aversion to makeup, etc.--and Sana and Sara took it all in stride. Without exception, everyone was very pleased with how their hair and makeup turned out. As someone who has been the victim of bad bridesmaid hair and makeup, this was a priority for me. Sana and Sara were also fun to talk to and added to the upbeat atmosphere of the bridal suite. Hello everyone! Yesterday I went to Sonia's Esthetique for the opening. It was great to finally meet Sonia! I am not a bride (already married) but I follow her blog and I have to say I am a huge fan of her work so I wanted to personally meet her and find out about the services of Esthetique. I have to say that I was very impressed with Sonia. In our brief meeting I found her to be very personable and very approachable. She has a great zest for life and she obviously is passionate about what she does. What struck me most about her is that I feel that she genuinely cares about her customers. She scheduled me for a facial in October and she told me that she wants to spend enough time with me doing the facial so I don't feel rushed. I have met many professionals in the beauty business and I am usually a good judge of character. Sonia's work speak for itself but what makes her outstanding in her field is that she truly cares. Sonia does such beautiful work and she did an amazing job on makeup for my mom, sister, bridesmaids and me for my 2008 wedding. She was just so great to work with and so talented. I have only had my makeup done once before in my life--before a high-school senior photo--and I thought I looked completely ridiculous and washed it off before the event. Because of this bad experience I was a little wary when looking for makeup artists for my wedding. At my pre-wedding trial session, Sonia showed me several options and did the airbrushing of foundation, which I had never had before. It looked amazing! I looked like myself, but more glamorous! The photos came out beautifully, the makeup stayed put until I SCRUBBED it off in the shower, and it didn't feel heavy on my face. I couldn't have asked for more! I used Sonia Roselli for my wedding hair and make up and loved working with them. Took off one star because I did think their prices were a bit over the top for hair and make up. Despite that, everything else was so wonderful. We used Jessica for hair and she was great. Right on time, friendly, chatty and brought sunshine to the room without being too invasive! Plus, for my hair, she took extra time and care to make sure every piece she placed was exactly where I wanted it. I got so many compliments on my hair that evening and from photos! Jessica did a fabulous job. We used Melissa for make up who also did a great job. All the bridesmaids loved their make up and fake lashes (definitely splurge for the lashes!). Bridgit, who you book with, is also an absolute joy. She was organized and efficient, which was appreciated. Overall their professionalism and expertise really made me feel so great that day. I have avoided writing this review for a year because I don't like to criticize or put down businesses. I have never even written a yelp review before until now, but I felt it was necessary. That being said; I had a very bad experience here. I put down a deposit of $470 after my hair and makeup trial because they told me that would hold my date/artisit and that I would get a discount. After thinking & talking it through with my bridesmaids/family the next day, I discovered that hardly any of the girls wanted to have their hair & makeup done. I liked my hair and makeup trial ok, but didn't love it. I realized that I needed to cancel. I emailed Sonia and explained my predicament. I said that I was very sorry, but that I was sure she'd understand being that it wash't even 48 hrs later and my wedding date wasn't for another 4 months. I asked her to charge me the full amount for my trial but please refund the money I didn't use with her; a fair request. She said no, that it was non-refundable and refused. She kept trying to make me use the money I had put down in different ways so that I would get more for my buck. I just wanted my money back. I told her I had no idea this was non-refundable. She said that it says so in the contract and that "you can't miss it." After these responses, I was upset and felt taken advantage of. It was either lose the money or be forced to have her company in my house on my wedding day. The latter didn't seem like an option to me since you only want to be surrounded with happiness and positivity on your wedding day. She was rude and unprofessional to deal with. Refusing to refund your client money that they didn't even use with you, based on a technicality is completely unprofessional and wrong. Especially when they were unaware of the rigid rules. It would be understandable if I canceled weeks or even a month before the date. This was the day after I signed the paper. She never once picked up the phone to call me, but instead sent these messages over email. She came highly recommended from a few friends, and now none of us will use her or recommend her in the future. Most salons/artists will allow you to cancel up to one week before your event. I ended up getting my services through Salon Buzz in river north, and that was their policy and they were absolutely wonderful. So please, realize if you sign up and pay any money to this woman, you better be 100% sure. There is no human element here, just business. read more

When looking for a hair and make up artist I had no idea where to start. I asked my planner for some suggestions and she recommended Sonia Roselli and I am so glad that she did. I had them do my hair and make up for my engagement photos and it looked great. They are easy to book and reasonably priced. On the day of my wedding all the girls showed up on time and all my bridesmaids looked great. I had eight people total getting their hair and make up done. The team did a wonderful job on everyone and kept to the schedule. They were very nice and we all had a great day talking with them. They listened to what every girl wanted and no one was disappointed. If you can afford have hair and make up done in your hotel room I would strongly suggest it. I think it's safe to say that every woman is a little bit insecure to have someone so close to your face and able to examine every pore and flaw you may have. Sonia has this amazing ability to set you at ease and of course her other amazing talent is to enhance features that you didn't know how to bring out before and make you look naturally beautiful. My trial came with a mini facial because per Sonia, beautiful skin is essential to the application. My skin looked flawless...so much to the point that when I took my makeup off, I was thinking "wow, I've been breaking out lately" but it turned out I was merely staring at a flawless face the whole day that hid every single blemish my face ever encountered. Sonia also stops to have you look in the mirror mid-way to ask if you want more or less makeup. The signature eyelashes she gives you deserves 5 stars alone because it I went to a water park two days after and not one lash fell out! I have not been to Sonia's studio for some time as I was seeing an esthetician closer to my house simply out of convenience. After months of suffering from uneven brows and burns, I sucked up the drive and went back to Sonia. Instantly I was reminded how at ease Sonia makes you feel. More important, she took time to look at my brows and shape them properly and to explain areas that need to be grown in - rather than the wax and rip treatment you get elsewhere. This place is a rip off. I hired a make-up artist from Sonia Roselli (SR) to do my make up and my bridesmaids make-up for my wedding. I went through a trial run and things went better than it did with the two make-up artists I did a trial run with before finding SR so I decided I'd book the artist. During the trial run my make up artist did a nice job (I wasn't blown away but I was getting desperate and needed someone who could at least do a nice job) and I was strongly encouraged to purchase a lip gloss that would be used the day of the wedding. On the day of the wedding the artist ended up NOT doing my make-up the same as she did during the trial run and we NEVER used the lip gloss I was pushed into buying. For my wedding she decided to emphasize a small bump on my nose and apply blush in the WRONG place. She also made my lips look thinner. I did NOT get the positive feedback from friends and family that I was hoping for especially once they saw how my make up looked in pictures. This happened more than a year ago. I was hoping by now this place would have gone out of business. read more

Add me as a fan. Yesterday I had a make-up lesson with Sonia and could not be more pleased with then investment. I am looking to better understand how to use makeup properly and bring out the best on this aging face. Sonia is both passionate and an expert in skin care. Her approach to makeup is practical and yet she has a sharp eye for what works. I am delighted that I learned a more sophisticated approach to eyeliner and foundation. I will be returning to Sonia for more advice and a brush-up on what I've learned. It's much better to invest in guidance than makeup that I don't use. Yes, I'm cost conscious. I should add that Sonia felt most of my current makeup worked and never suggest I buy anything from her salon. Susan, the Beauty Director, was an absolute joy to work with and made sure everything was according to my vision and within my expectations. The trials were wonderful, and the day of services were exceptional. My bridal party was very impressed with the services, and I had never looked better. Furthermore, Korena and Rebecca were incredibly nice, funny, and generous people. I had a great time with them and we all appreciated their hard work and the finished product. Sonia is a makeup goddess!!! She is a makeup fairy godmother! She did an incredible job at my wedding and made everyone in the bridal party look like celebs!!
