There are multiple ways to order which makes it super convenient. There's the traditional pull up where you order and your food/beverages are brought out by someone on skates. There's a drive-thru for those in a hurry. They have a walk up window and even a couple of tables where someone will come take your order. It's awesome! The employees are generally polite and friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile and a thank you. We love coming in the warmer months for after school treats with the kids! They love all the variations with candy and ice cream flavors. Heck, who am I kidding?! I love them too. There's M&M, snickers, Reese's, and Oreo, just to name a few. Oh, you get to choose from tons of ice cream choices also. If ice cream isn't your thing, the food is pretty good too. The tater tots are always nice and crispy! Yum! The sonic App is relatively new. I've driven past this Sonic for years and have never stopped. One afternoon my husband and I were craving a slushy and didn't know the best place to go. As we got closer to home I thought of this location and my husband had never had a Sonic slush. I ordered the classic cherry lineage slush and he got peach. We got lucky on our timing and it was happy hour so our drinks were half off! Two large slush drinks for $2.76 - you just can't beat that! When you get to the window there's a place to swipe your card yourself which is awesome considering the circumstances right now. The staff in the drive thru were nice and got us our drinks quickly. I had not been to a Sonic in YEARS. Yesterday was my birthday and my dad was going to treat me to whatever I wanted for dinner, but we'd both been feeling under the weather. Later, after having decided to do dinner tomorrow, I thought it might be good to get out for a little bit and thought of maybe going to Dairy Queen, but my dad suggested this Sonic. It's pretty close to where we live. It was a nice day/night outside. There were quite a few people there, some in their cars and some at the tables. No raucous noise or anything and a pretty pleasant atmosphere. They even have disabled parking at the curbside. The menu is a little hard to see if you're a passenger, but I managed. Had to push the button again because the first item on our order wasn't repeated back, but the man came back on fairly promptly and corrected our total. Food took about ten minutes to come out. The waitress was extremely delightful on her roller skates. The only disappointment would be that our tots and fries, though they tasted pretty good, were not hot, maybe slightly warm and didn't seem to be as fresh as I would have expected. In the past at another Sonic in another state that I frequented, these would have been too hot to eat right away. The wait seemed long enough that there definitely would have been HOT potato treats. It also would have been nice to have a tray in the car window instead of having to balance a greasy bag and everything in the car. No salt or ketchup was offered, but we did without. Appreciated the complimentary mint in the bag, but two would have been better since there were two of us. I also had a strawberry sundae which was very good. It has been a very long time since I have had such a thing, but I would say a notch above Dairy Queen. It had a lot of big slices of strawberry in it and was quite filling. The cherry on top made my day like I was a little kid again. Overall a pretty decent place close to home to make a dash out if you're not in the mood for a sit-down restaurant. Somewhat reminiscent of old drive-ins from childhood and movies. Was a nice feeling to be there as the sun went down. I enjoyed the neon lights that lit up the place. Despite Sonic needing to brush up on a few things some, I had a good time with my dad and that's what counts the most. I'd go back again sometime. read more

Went for half priced shakes around 9:45pm. Very busy. Before we stopped we looked over the menu online and decided on our shakes. But when we pulled up to the menu we noticed that a couple of our chosen shakes weren't printed on it. When asked if they had the hot fudge shake and the response was "sure". Then when we got up to the window there was an issue with the card reader and the order was showing up wrong and then the card didn't read the first time, so we could have almost paid the wrong bill the second time. When we asked for a receipt to verify the purchase amount, the girl must not of heard us and shut the drive thru window. When the card didn't go through the first time we tried asking again and same thing happened. Never got a receipt. I don't even think it ended up to be half priced. Very confused what happened. Ordered your new Garlic burger. What I got was a plain burger with extra Mayo. Just meat and Mayo. I tried to call the store and no one answered. I finally tracked someone down and they said they would get a manager but no one ever came. Poor service and I didn't even get what I ordered. Not to mention, the first time they came, they forgot part of the original order! We decided to go to Sonic in Avon a few weeks ago for lunch about 1pm. Mistake.....The quality of their food has changed. There were 3 of us, so our order included a double cheeseburger, foot long coney and popcorn chicken......all with tater tots. Drinks were an iced tea, a cherry limeade and a vanilla shake. First of all, all of the food tasted awful. The cheeseburger tasted as if it had been cooked earlier kept warm in old grease and reheated and had a strange taste. The popcorn chicken had a taste as if it had been cooked in old grease. Both items were cold.. The coney was ok, but it was not very hot. It took forever to get the food, so we thought it was going to be nice and hot. Even the tater tots were cold, hard and greasy tasting. Usually their drinks are delicious, but the ice tasted like grease in the cherry limeade. The vanilla shake was ok and the iced tea was warm with a greasy taste to the little ice. The person who ordered the tea asked for more ice and she said the ice had the same smell as the burger and tasted funny. I would have given them a 1 star, but the coney was good and the drinks are usually good. Also, I used to purchase cups of ice from them, but now they say the ice comes in the drinks, but they can't sell the cups of ice. Much improvement is needed to get back to where they were when they first opened. read more

Just went through the drive-through here and although it was slower than usual (because of happy hour) they still got the cars through quickly. The cashiers even ran out to cars in the drive through to help speed the process. I ordered an orange cream slush, which is a combo of a slush and ice cream, and is not posted on the menu. Sonic is the place I go when I'm having a good day. The temperature finally broke 50 today and the sun was out, nice time for a short drive to Sonic. I don't make it over to the West side very often, but when I do, I make it a point to visit Sonic. I usually order a simple burger and of course you have to have the tots, but tonight I ordered the Footlong Quarter Pound Coney Dog. Don't judge me. I was hungry. Along with that, I had the tots which is a MUST have when you go to Sonic. Do not order regular fries. Get the tots everytime. They don't disappoint. The coney was amazing and made me wish I was somewhere warm. The service is quick, no fuss. Ordering is easy. Once you've decided what you want, you hit the Order button and place your order and you can pay right there with your credit card. Makes it very easy. We frequent Sonic because my whole family is addicted to nerd slushies. Go try try one! Soooo goood. I personally recommend the blue raspberry or grape with nerds. I love that slushies are half price between 2 and 4. As for service, this location is super hit or miss. I have had some really weird experiences and some really pleasant experiences. I am guessing they have high turnover on workers so that could explain the various levels of quality. They have lots of drive ups, a drive thru and a walk up counter so even when busy, you can get service pretty fast. I recommend the drive thru if you are in a hurry. It saddens me to write this review. Sonic is and always has been my absolute favorite fast food joint. Nothing beats a Double Sonic Burger with tomatoes, pickle, and mayo when you've been working and are hungry. I love pulling up under the shade, rolling the windows down and enjoying the cool breeze and some tunes while I relax, enjoying my lunch break. My enjoyment of Sonic is doubled because of my personal history with the restaurant chain. My mother was in high school working at a Sonic back home in Texas where she met my father. He was a high schooler in a neighboring town and the Sonic used to be part of the local teenage "drag" on Saturday nights. When I was a kid, my mom used to treat me to Sonic once in a while where I'd get a kids' meal. Back in those days, Sonic used to give out these tiny little glass animals (yeah, glass animals for kids, whose brilliant idea was that? lol But I loved them, they were so cool.) and I thought those were so cool. Throughout the years, Sonic has been one of those comfort foods that never failed to cheer me up, no matter how bad the day was. When I found the last remaining Sonic in the area out in Avon, I was ecstatic. Whenever in the area, I like to make it a point to stop in for a quick sandwich and a trip down memory lane. When I stopped by Sonic on Friday 07/22/11, I was expecting nothing less than the normal superb experience. When the server came out on roller skates, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't know Sonic allowed any of their servers to return to the company's roller server roots and I had to smile at the homage to the past. However, the food was less than satisfactory. For the first time ever in my lifelong history with Sonic, I found the sandwich distasteful. There was WAY too much mayo, mustard, and ketchup on the burger, making it a sloppy mess, constantly dripping over everything. The meat didn't have the same full, hearty flavor of the past. I don't know what they've done with their recipe, but it taste like it's full of fillers or maybe just less quality than the past. I know you're thinking that maybe it's just my past and thinking "Back in the good ol' days....." but I KNOW what a Sonic burger should taste like and this was NOT a Sonic burger. The drive-up service at this Sonic, as well as their food quality, is atrocious. I have no speech impediment , and I loudly and clearly ordered a chili-chess dog, a small order of tots and a small coke zero. Nonetheless, I had to repeat myself several times to the male individual who took my order. Either he wasn't listening or distracted by other things. I let it slide, but when I took the first bite of my chili-cheese dog I'm lucky I didn't loosen any my teeth. While the bun was fresh, the dog itself was hard as a rock. It was either stale or had been aged from repeated cooking or steaming. I spit it out on the parking lot and left it for the birds to consume. At least they got the tots right. And my beverage? I had asked for a Coke zero but instead got a cherry Coke. Sure, I could have gone back and complained, but I wasn't about to get back in the drive-up line and wait for who knows how long for a $6.73 purchase. But I can say I won't be patronizing this Sonic location again. If there comes a time when I'm desperate for Sonic, I'll try my luck elsewhere. Not only is this the slowest drive thru in Avon, but the staff is just rude as hell. I understand hiring the younger generation so they can have money too but at least hire teenagers that are respectful, professional & actually want to do their job if you're going to go that route. This used to be my favorite fast food place to eat at up until recently. Over the past 3 weeks, the man taking orders (it's pretty much the same guy every time) is rude every time. He seems annoyed when we ask questions or when we don't know what we want to order as soon as we pull up to the speaker. The food quality has definitely declined as well. Food is now made more sloppily than before and hardly ever correct. I'm not sure if it's new management or what but, I know that I will not be going to this sonic ever again. The new one in Plainfield has better trained employees who care about their jobs and treat customers with care. read more

We waited and waited and waited to order curbside and finally gave up on that when no one answered at two different stations. Opted to hit the drive-thru as it's the only order station that seems to be working. Sonic, you need to get it together. People are driving away hungry. read more

This sonic is out in Avon but I make sure that if I'm ever driving around the area of Raceway Road or Rockville Road that I stop by there even if it's miles away. It's like a treat within itself. And as if the Strawberry limeades with extra strawberries is not reason enough to smile, it's always great when I happen to venture there between 2-4pm when it's HAPPY HOUR! It's one of the only ones in the Indy area anymore. So make sure you help keep it in business so the next generations can experience the nostalgic feeling of a yummy drive through :) read more

Decided to stop here with my son to take advantage of the beautiful evening. I ordered a Chicago dog, fries and drink. When the dog arrived it was if someone dropped the lid off the celery salt shaker over the entire thing. I can't believe they served it. I wiped as much off as I could. I should have sent it back.
