The food itself was also extremely fresh and tasty, way better than the burgers I've had in Toronto, New York and London. May was a great month for Shake Shack rewards. They offer a free burger code each week when you spend $10, which is a pretty sweet deal especially in today's economy. We stopped by before heading to a Fever game and grabbed a quick meal. I ordered the chicken bites with ranch, and they were tasty. I also tried the spicy fries and absolutely loved them. They seemed to be seasoned with a Cajun style seasoning that gave them a nice kick. My husband ordered a beef hot dog and regular fries. He enjoyed the spicy fries I shared with him but still happily ate his regular fries as well. One thing I appreciate is that they offer free water, which is a nice way to save a little money on drinks. Since it was a gloomy, chilly day, we decided to dine inside. There was a good amount of seating available, including both booths and tables. When dining in, you're given a number, and the staff brings your food directly to your table. Service was good, and our food came out quickly. I used one of the weekly reward codes and received a free cheeseburger after spending $10, making the visit an even better value. Parking at this location is convenient. There's a shared public lot off New York Street behind Java House that offers free parking for up to two hours. Been to shake shack a handful of times. Always clean and good service. I personally- bug hotdog lover- did not like it at all. Wasn't a fan of the dog nor fries. We split some fries and they were the perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside--hands down some of the best fries I've ever had. I was also really pleasantly surprised that the chicken shack was so juicy, tender, and flavorful. The pickles were crunchy and the sauce really brought everything together. The Thai tea milkshake was not my favorite. I love Thai bubble tea or even hot Thai tea, but so much of it in milkshake form was ~too much~. I still enjoyed it, just something I wouldn't order again; however, it's also the reason I think they deserve 5 stars. An employee (maybe the manager?) walked through the dining room while we ate, asked how everything was, and specifically asked about the milkshake, mentioning it's a bit controversial. Finally another burger option downtown. I have been anxiously awaiting for this to open! On the fly we decided to stop in on a random Thursday. They just opened perhaps the week prior. I was VERY fortunate and found a spot right in front. If I hadn't, parking may be a bit of an issue especially with the construction happening on all around it. Perhaps parking on Mass Ave and walking over could be a solution if no parking on the street in front. When we walked in it is VERY bright and cheerful. They have music playing but I can't recall what type. We ordered via a kiosk so we didn't actually speak with anyone. I do like having the option to order myself as opposed to explaining my order to someone else. I'm hoping more places go this route. One thing that really shocked me is it didn't seem very clean. It seemed like a college town place. Perhaps its because I'm used to the other places in the area being very well kept up, I guess I expected something a little different. We came at noon on a Tuesday. There were plenty if seating and hardly a line. You have the option of Kiosk order or ordering with the employee. We had a part of 8, so I probably should have used a kiosk but I went with ordering at the desk. The fountain drinks or not self serve here, so you need to make sure you know what everyone is drinking. They call your name on the counter to the right when ready. Honestly... the burgers were ok. I'm glad they added a Shake Shack downtown. No more driving to the north side to enjoy the great food they have. I walked up to the counter ordered and had my food within less than 10 mins. It was hot and tasted great. They had TV's playing the NCAA basketball games that are taking place not far at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the tournament. I think if they built this closer to the field house it would be an even bigger hit than it already is. Shakes, burgers, fries you can't beat it.
