Sonic Shakes are mad good. Sonic is probably just another chain out here, as evidenced by all of the poor reviews I see, but as a New Yorker, with no Sonics in the city yet, I always love lazily pulling up to the drive in stations and getting a quick bite. This time we had just eaten two lunches and were on our way to a third, so we just got a shake, and boy was it good: it was an Oreo Peanut Butter Shake, and it was as incredible as it sounds. It's much thicker than a shake, and is practically like you are eating ice cream, like one of the Blasts. Sonic is always an awesome choice for dessert so I'm always down to drive in quickly for a very satisfying sweet snack.

Service is always quick and they are always friendly. It's a Sonic food so we aren't expecting what we would like in a $12 burger. 1/2 price drinks 2-4 pm hits the spot without hurting the wallet. Occasionally you will see and hear the redneck kids in their dad's pick up truck trying to act cool. They're harmless though. It's Buda, still got a few hicks living here.

I noticed that it had great reviews and I was a little hungry, so I went over the menu and ordered what the cashier recommended. I ended up ordering 2 burgers! One for now and one for later because they looked amazing! I ordered the TX BBQ Burger, and the Chicken Jalapeño Ranch burger. One with fries and one with tots. When they came out the bag was heavy and once I opened the bag, the food looked amazing! The fries were delicious and crispy, and the BBQ burger was so juicy! Once devoured, I had to try a bite of the Chicken burger. It was huge and I barely to take a bite without making a mess, but once I sunk my teeth in it was amazing! The chicken was very juicy and the veggies were fresh! I highly recommend this place! And I hope to be driving by again to try other options!

You order at the counter and tables are set up inside. They serve tea, sweet and unsweet, but ice is served at the store fountain station. You have the option to purchase from the convent store but have to pay separately at the store counter. We would suggest the jalapeño ranch chicken sandwich, it has a spice level of a mild-medium. This was said to be one of the most popular. Another popular option was the Philly burger, we didn't enjoy it as much as it was missing flavor. Tatar tots were great, they also have fries. Kids menu is available.

I'll be honest, I used to cringe and raise my nose at any sort of "restaurant" or food from a gas…read morestation. I mean seriously who would ever buy say sushi from a gas station? That changed when I lived in Kansas City; a place called Oklahoma Joes (changed to Joes KS) BBQ operated out of a gas station. It's one of the best places in the nation for BBQ, so with that knowledge and hungry for a decent chicken sandwich, I considered the new Sharks inside the gas station which just went up less than a mile from my house. In short, WOW, I'm literally shocked! I googled "fast food chicken sandwiches" and none of the suggestions that came up appealed to me as they've always been horrible. So, I thought, let me see some yelp reviews on Sharks Burgers. After seeing consistently high marks on burgers, I decided to try both. Before I go on, please note Sharks is inside of the Valero gas station right off of 35 across the freeway from Costco. The place is extremely clean, in a safe part of town and the employees are very nice. On the website I decided to build my own chicken sandwich and I'll mention they didn't have an option to double up cheese so I put it in the notes and it was added! I added mayo, ketchup, Swiss x2, grilled onions and mushrooms, lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken was slightly thicker than I anticipated while being moist and not overcooked. I think they could have added a touch more onions and mushrooms otherwise it was great. Plus, it has juices oozing out that got the bun soggy and I had no issues with that. The major gripe I had with both sandwiches is they didn't core the tomato so I gnawed on a big chunk of core, yuck. I decided to munch on my fresh tots which were pipping hot while dipping them in their shark sauce. I didn't like the shark sauce as I hate buffalo sauce which was the dominate flavor. My final item was the blue cheese burger. The beef was cooked perfectly and as with the chicken sandwich the bun was perfect but there could have been thicker and more slices of avocado. Otherwise, it's a well-balanced little burger with the blue cheese adding the funk to set it aside. To quote Pulp Fiction, it was a tasty burger (fyi - please add a big kahuna burger to the menu as I would be a regular). Overall, I was shocked about how much better Sharks food is over competing fast food restaurants. The meat is thicker and juicier, they have more interesting combinations and they food was straight from the kitchen, not under some heat lamp. I'd rank them almost on par with the "gourmet" burger shops like (4+1 gentlemen) and (extremely excellent) burgers (I hope you can figure out the cryptic message). I'll be back soon to indulge in Sharks offerings and if you're like I was, on the fence; get off and give it a try, you won't regret it.

Tons of picnic tables, a big bar for drinks, and even a little fountain you can sit by. Great place to hang out. I ordered the smash burger. It was... fine. Not bad at all, just not in my top tier of Austin smash burgers. The patty came out in pieces, which happens when it gets smashed a little too thin. Totally edible, still tasted good, it just didn't have that cohesive patty feel or the crispy lacy edges I like. I ordered through the QR code on the table, which told me it would take about 30 minutes, but it was ready in 10. Not complaining, but it's always funny when the system just picks a random long estimate and then surprises you. Fries were adequate, nothing memorable. Service was okay. I asked for a side of their special sauce, and the guy looked totally baffled, like no one in the history of burgers had ever asked for sauce on the side. Someone else behind him finally said, "I think he means the Biggie sauce." Now I know what to call it if I ever return. Overall: decent burger, not amazing, but Armadillo Den itself is a great hang. I wouldn't come back specifically for this burger, but I'd happily eat it again if I was already there with friends.

One of my shortest Yelp reviews ever:…read more I was at the Armadillo Den celebrating my friend's birthday and wanted a bite. Their fried pickles sounded pretty good. That's all I ordered, and I got a monster-sized serving of fried pickles. I was thinking I'd get a small cup because that's the food truck way, but there was plenty to go around and I was very satisfied, even with letting all the people around me grab some as well. They threw down. I'll probably go back next time I'm at the Den or Cosmic. RIYL: Fried pickles and ranch, but like A LOT of fried pickles, like you start wondering about your macros from how much they give you.
