The last time I went to a Sonic was in my hometown (Augusta, Ga). I remember my younger years, my family and friends, we used to go all the time. It was so good then. I loved when the servers would deliver our meals in roller skates. Fast forward and I get a giftcard from my mom. We went on a Friday night. They were not busy at all. Times has change. They still have the burgers and hot dogs, but they added so much stuff since then. We ordered: -Sonic Cheeseburger with extra pickles (lettuce, tomatoes, American cheese, mayo and ketchup) -Sonic's Double Smasher with cheese, pickles,lettuce, mayo and ketchup -Medium Groovy fries -Small onion rings We had our meals to go. The service was excellent however I thought my burger was okay. They put too much ketchup and mayo that it was dripping and my plate looked like soup. Our fries and onion rings were also okay. They tasted like they needed to change the oil. They were greasy. It hurts my soul to leave a three star review. I really loved it growing up. First visit, no issues. Second visit, asked for no mayo, got mayo. Third visit, told to pull forward, and when the food arrived, it was cold. The area is clean, and the staff are friendly; though during the second visit, which was on an evening, the staff were arguing. Neither my fiancee nor I had been to a Sonic in a LONG time so we decided to stop by this one for a quick bite. I remember being a big fan when I was much younger. I always enjoyed their hot dogs and tater tots. Quite a lot has changed about their menu since then, as they now have lots more options to choose from, especially with beverages. The service is still great though the roller skates have been ditched and likely for good reasons. It still has that classic drive-in feel. For this visit, my fiancee got the Sonic burger with extra pickles and a medium fry, and I got the Double Smash burger with a small onion ring. We definitely didn't wait long at all before everything was ready and we took it home to eat since we live pretty close by. My smash burger was bigger than I expected. Good too. My fiancee kinda liked her burger but thought it had a touch too much ketchup and mayo. The fries and rings were good but the oil they used could've used a little changing. Despite the hour, Amber was wonderfully cheerful and made me feel like a valued customer rather than an inconvenience. She offered several excellent suggestions for my favorite drink, Ocean Water, which made it even more enjoyable. I am eagerly looking forward to returning to try her other two recommendations. The addition of sweet cream to Ocean Water is simply incredible; I had no idea that was even an option! The food was delicious, and I particularly appreciated the wide variety of choices available, especially compared to the limited late-night options in the area. I'm Still actually in the parking lot. I asked & paid for GRILLED ONIONS, the ones on my burgers weren't even cooked enough to take the crisp out of them. This location seems to have improved recently. I generally come here for the drinks or ice cream as those are the places where they really shine. I had noticed in the past anything fried had the taste of old fryer oil, but that is now gone. I had some trouble with app deals or ordering and that is no longer an issue either. Most of the time I order ahead on the app and it is ready when I arrive, with whatever discounts honored. So the drinks. The best thing to order IMO is the Strawberry Limeaide. Who else even has that?! It is seltzer water with whole strawberries and limes mixed in. They have that wonderful pellet ice that really makes a drink better somehow. During 2-4pm happy hour it is half priced. If you order ahead from the app drinks are always half price. I also like their raspberry sweet tea. So the Ice cream. Another place sonic excels. Their base vanilla is much creamier and has better flavor than say DQ. I really enjoy their milkshakes, although technically they are thick enough to eat with a spoon. Well the food here is ok. I mostly don't come for food unless I need a quick snack or there is a good deal in the app. I recently had their sonic cheeseburger for national cheeseburger day and it was surprisingly good. Way better than other fast food chains. The tots were perfectly crispy and not greasy. On another occasion I took advantage of a 2.99 car hop classic which included a small philly cheesesteak and tots. The cheesesteak was ok, not much cheese, more mayo than anything. Parking lot clean. I have always been curious about Sonic. The years of curiosity may have romanticized it to be more than it is. I was expecting a 1950's car hop experience. There is a reason this type of dining has died out. You are essentially just eating fast food, in your car. Patrons pull up to an order window. From there, they talk into a speaker, just like any other drive thru. Orders are brought to your car in a paper bag. Cheeseburger and tots are fast food quality; fast food taste. My cheeseburger was more cheese than burger. The real surprise is the strawberry limeade. It is a carbonated beverage. Fresh lime wedges, and chunks of strawberries are in the bottom of the cup. It is in a completely different quality category than the food. If driving around and thirsty, stopping here is highly recommended. Currently, "happy hour" is from 2-4pm. That means drinks are half off. The drinks are the shining star of Sonic. read more

I don't go to Sonic often, maybe 2-3 times a year. Mostly out of convenience, because this location is near some of my usual stops and it is fairly quick. Even when the drive thru is 3 cars deep, I'm usually out within 5-7mins. I think Sonic's #1 quality is their ice. Those wonderful little pellets compare to no one else! I do enjoy a regular watermelon slushie every now and then but I mostly stick to food here. If you sign up for their text club, they put out a decent amount of specials like 99cent corn dogs which comes in handy with a toddler! Their tots are usually crispy! Like I said, I don't go often but I was sad to see they changed up some of their combos. I ordered the bacon burger on toast, remembering the yummy BBQ and onion ring but that is no more. I've definitely had Sonic a number of times in the past..but the times have been so few and far between I never remember what I truly think about their food when I get around to trying it again. Unfortunately, overall, I'm always reminded that the food is kinda meh. I picked up lunch through the drive thru of this location on a mid Friday afternoon. The service was fast enough. I was the only one in line when I first got there, once I was on my way out there were probably 3-4 cars behind me. The food took about 5 or so minutes to come out. The fries were extremely fresh when I received them (too hot to eat for at least 10 minutes) which might have been causing the hold-up. I ordered the Sonic Bacon Burger combo with fries and a drink. As I said the fries were piping hot and super fresh. Getting fries like this is definitely worth the extra wait. The drink wasn't stale so..that's always a plus. Now for the burger. It was for sure big and juicy. Problem was it was overall just kinda..bland. Nothing really exciting about it. The bun and beef combo just tasted like a generic burger..and the bacon didn't have enough bacony flavor to compensate either. It was just a bacon burger..a generic bland bacon burger. Disappointing. I would come back to Sonic if it were nearby and convenient. I don't think I would go out of my way to seek it out tho. Oh I just love sonic! Sonic is just so good, they just have everything you could ever wanna get it. How can you ever go wrong with everything that they have on the menu, and then put those tater tot's instead of those fries now that's what I'm talking about! Their jalapeño cheddar poppers are the very best and they give you that little ranch cup for dipping! All of their burgers are straight awesome to the maximum level of greatness and they have cheese sticks and the soft pretzel with cheese is one of my faves. I also love their chicken sandwiches especially there are small chicken sandwich on the value menu with the tenders. And speaking of tenders they have some awesome ones. It's always fun to add flavoring to your pop like mixing cherry with Dr. Pepper or some other fun flavor with your sprite and they have those sonic blast things which always or a guaranteed ice cream headache. This place is as slow as molasses. The people are rude and you can be assured, if you order a shake, a drink, our an ice cream, it's going to be all over the outside of the container and in your hand. We have waited 15 minutes in this drive thru, not because they were busy. They are just slow. There had never been more than for cars in front of us. Also, they have a bunch of hidden charges so make sure you read the tiny print too. It is just small change, but it adds up when you're ordering for a group. I really just go for the ice cream products. The food is super greasy and super sloppy. I have never eaten anything I liked here. I do enjoy a good shake every now and again and during happy hour they are half price. They are thick and flavorful. The small shake ends up being about $1.50. Most places charge about $5. They can get pretty pricey with all the things they add at sonic too. read more

I've eaten from the drive-thru here several times, but recently I experienced some fantastic service. The girl working the drive-thru box punched in my order incorrectly. When I picked up my food, I told the man at the window I ordered a different size than what I was served. He apologized, and without hesitation, corrected the error without an additional charge. It didn't matter that there were six cars in line behind me, or that I only ordered $1.00's worth of food. I've been eating Sonic food for about 30 years now. There was a Sonic in my hometown and everyone loved it. I spent 20 years in the Air Force and very rarely was near a Sonic. I can't tell you how excited I was to see a Sonic being built in Eastgate. They've kept to their original roots, with the kids that bring your food often using roller skates like they did in the 70's. Their mustard Sonic Burger is my favorite, and they have the best onion rings in town. All the ice cream is great too. Try a Route 44 Bubble Gum Slushie if you want a real treat. If I didn't have to eat in my car, I'd never eat at any other fast food restaurant, except may Roney's (used to be Roy Rogers). The food is all very good, and the hot dogs - after you've had a Sonic Wholly Guacamole Dog for 2.79 you'll feel totally ripped off when one of the trendy new dog places charges you twice that for sometimes lesser food. Add to that the limeades, shakes, etc etc, you could have a very different meal every time you came. But I HATE eating in my car. It makes my car smell like whatever I ate for days. If I could give this place negative stars I would. The food here is almost inedible. I would bet money that this is a franchise. The shakes have no flavor. My son ordered chicken fingers which came burnt. He also ordered an M&M shake. There weren't any M&Ms in the shake although they said there was. LOL. If there were you couldn't taste or see them. I ordered a shake with Cheese cake and Oreos. The only thing you could taste was graham cracker crust. It is extremely over priced for the subpar food. I don't go to Sonic all that often, partly because there aren't any locations all that close to where I live (they seem to be allergic to the city and closer suburbs), but when I do, it's a great departure from the hustled, cheapy fast-food crowd of arches, pig-tails, crowns, bells, and top hats. Could be that Sonic is all-about the drive-in: rather than having to wait in a line at the drive-thru (which they do have) or go into a decent dining room (they do have an outdoor seating area). It's nice to get a chance to shut off the car engine, and take a moment to peruse the menu, and call for the car hop when you're ready. Probably my favorite feature of the ordering stall is the credit card reader built-in, so the host(ess) doesn't have to deal with payment. I ordered the double cheeseburger, with tater tots, and cherry-flavored Diet Coke. Probably my other beef was that the hostess forgot my straw... Working in the plaza right behind Sonic at Best Buy, I've been here many times. And I remember when it was being built, our entire store was pumped and couldn't wait for it to open. 1. Breakfast- They serve breakfast ALL DAY LONG, and that's a good thing, I'm not complaining. Plenty of times, and I'm sure a lot of you agree, breakfast sounds good for lunch, even dinner. Perkins, IHOP, Bob Evans, they all serve breakfast all day so it's nice to have a quick inexpensive option should you get the hankering for it. My favorite is the sausage breakfast burrito, easy on the wallet, and it satisfies my stomach. 2. Happy Hour- Sonic has it's Happy Hour from 2pm-4pm every day. Half price drinks, and unfortunately Sonic does not serve alcohol :( which is a bummer, but I love this stuff too! My favorite is the Cherry Limeaide...a close second would be the Cherry Creamslush but unfortunately that is excluded from the half price deal. There are plenty of options here, for quick food, it's easy on my wallet, plus it's the nearest place so I don't have to drive to the other side of Eastgate during lunch. 4 stars because it is clearly a step above just about any other drive-thru when it comes to food quality. The only things I'd mention are: - Waiting a bit is the price you pay for that quality. Not excessively long, but expect 2-5 minutes for most orders, especially during rushes or late night. If you hit prime time and it's atypically slow there, you might be able to breeze through. - The drive-thru window is in rough shape. Parts of the exterior of the window are falling off and there's always some metal shit or payment device disconnected from the rest of the window and hanging off. It looks like they tried to build a fancy, larger-than-average window with a credit card machine built into it, but then a bunch of idiots drove into it. It would probably be best if they just rebuilt the window to be like every other drive-thru rather than having something that looks like it sold for one-quarter portion on Jakku. read more

I literally cannot believe the experience I just had at this location. First I place an order through GrubHub. They show up with the complete wrong order. Whether or not that was on the delivery driver or the restaurant I don't know but given what just happened, I'm going to bet it was on the restaurant. I drove the food back to get the correct order. They told me a manager was coming out but instead a girl came out who told me later it was her first day. I waited in the stall for probably 20 minutes and somebody brought the wrong order out to me again. Finally the third order given to me comes out. At this point I have been trying to get something to eat before I go to work for an hour and a half. An hour and a half to get fast food! I'm on my way home and I feel something wet in the floorboard. The drink she gave me had a gigantic hole in the cup and the drink was leaking out all over my car. Nice. Then I get home and the order is wrong! I'm not even kidding around. I finally decide I'm going to be that person and call the restaurant. Phone is beeping like it's off the hook. I went there today and I got a bacon cheeseburger toaster sandwich and tots. The tots were good but the bacon cheeseburger sandwich wasn't that good. The lettuce at Sonic used to be a whole piece but now it's sliced into paper thin bites, which were soggy and not crisp at all. The bbq sauce had almost a tomato ketchup flavor which I didn't like at all. The burger itself was room temperature but not warm. The bread was also pretty thin. Honestly I think if the meat was actually warm, the lettuce was in a single piece, the onions were in rings, the bbq sauce actually tasted like bbq sauce and the bread was thicker it would have been a much better sandwich. read more
