So me and my friends went through the drive thru and waited for a few minutes before we made it to the window. The people in front of us were also clearly aggravated as they drove off in a rage and didn't take the bag. This place needs some help. There always seems to be a long line that never moves, no matter what the time of day. Ordering online is a joke. I've ordered, paid and waited 15+ minutes multiples times. With small kids and myself in the car, it's a lot to just park and go in to get money back..... there is one employee, Jake, that always is friendly and gets cars/orders out fast. I keep coming back in hopes of a better experience, but tonight was the last straw. I'm a very laid back, patient person. Unfortunately I came here with my brother, we made the decision based on the fact that our local Sonic shut down and we really miss their Chili Coney Dogs. We waited for 15 minutes just to order in the drive through while the employee was trying to figure out how to use the system. When we arrived to the window, 2 other customers left without food after becoming inpatient. A bad experience! On yesterday evening, my best friend and I entered the establishment at 5pm exact. We were the ONLY customers present at the time. We waited 5 minutes for someone to take our order. We ordered 3 garlic butter bacon burgers, 1 large tater tot, a diet coke small and a diet cherry limeade large. We waited 20 mins on our food. The burgers were luke warm and the tots were ice cold. My best friend mentioned that we did not have time for me to talk this over with a manager because we were attending an event after our meal. This is the purpose of this review: to discuss it now! Why weren't the burgers hot? Why wasn't the tater tots hot? Why did we have to wait 5 mins for someone to wait on us? Why did we have to wait 20 mins for our food? Okay where do I start. I pretty much would consider myself part of the "Sonic Drive-in cult" I eat it about 4/5 day of the week. You might think Jesus Derek isn't that excessive!? Well lemme tell you somethin I'm 5'3 180 of full muscle. Idk how they do it but Sonics Drive-In food matched with my ball bustin genetics results in pure mayhem performance wise. Always a great pick to start your day. Only reason why I had to leave out a star is because they almost never have roller skates on here which is very disappointing. The grandkids were between events and we stopped at this Sonic on the Lincoln Highway in DeKalb for a cheeseburger. After ordering, paying for the order and WAITING for 45 minutes, the order status on the board disappeared, as also did to the car next to us. REPUSHED the order button, and after 5 minutes left the car and went to the lobby. FILLED with unhappy people. None of the staff would come to the counter. I LEFT, and abandoned $18.66 order for two cheeseburgers and two medium cherry lemonades. The grandson was late for baseball practice and I was late picking up my daughter from graduation. Wow, has this place hit the skids. Not sure i Have ever changed a rating from 5 star down the one star, but I would take it to 0 if I could. The last 6 times we've gone, they have been out of common items, tonight, it's ice tea . We thought it might be due to the circumstances affecting everybody right now, however the other area restaurants were able to get stuff at. Also, about half the time they don't tell you till you pull up to the window to pick up your order. And then, there not apologetic they act like it's not a big deal order something else . Well can we took their advice and we ordered something else, from Burger King who actually stocks the stuff that they have right down the street.It was just this one item, OK, however, it seems to be different items every timr and not necessarily ones you would expect to be real popular.NF they are popular, I guess you should stock up. read more

This is NOT your typical Sonic. Service is often slow. I've left the drive up line on two occasions because it just wasn't moving. The outdoor menu is very difficult to read. I once asked what kind of slushes they had, and the lady on the mic said all kinds, what do you want. So I named 3, each of which they didn't have. The food is typical for fast food. Could spend the same amount at another place for better food. And what's with the 1/2 price items between certain hours. I've never gotten any 1/2 price items during the hours advertised. Food is good, drinks are great but check your prices and the totals... Service is slow, been trying to cut them slack as they have only recently opened but twice they tried to overcharge (a lot!) because the person at the register didn't know how to ring up the order correctly so just made no price options as add-on's at a cost.
