I'm honestly really frustrated with some of the service I've experienced at the Sonic locations around here. Today, I pulled up to the drive-in and all I wanted was a large caramel shake. That's it. A very simple three-word order. Somehow, I had to repeat myself five times before the employee understood what I was asking for. He asked if I said strawberry. I said no. Then he asked if I meant caramel with strawberry. Again, I said no. At that point, I genuinely didn't understand how a simple order of "large caramel shake" had become so confusing. And just to be clear, this wasn't a situation where there appeared to be a language barrier. That wasn't the issue at all. It seemed more like the employee was trying to listen to me while also listening to someone else or dealing with something else at the same time. He kept saying he didn't hear me, so eventually I had to slow down and practically spell out the order. What made it even more frustrating was that there weren't even a lot of people there. I completely understand that mistakes happen and that employees can get overwhelmed, but having to repeat such a simple order five times is excessive. After I finally placed my order, I waited for 15 minutes--and I had already paid. While I was waiting, I could see that there were quite a handful of employees inside, which made the delay even more frustrating. I understand that food and drinks take time, but waiting that long for a shake after already paying is unreasonable, especially when the restaurant didn't appear to be busy. Hopefully management can work on improving communication, attentiveness, and service speed when taking and preparing orders. Customers shouldn't have to struggle this much just to order a shake, then wait 15 minutes to receive it. At least the outside of the area looks pretty decent don't know what kind of chaos or an organization is happening on the inside is you're only allowed and only so far read more

Used the app, 7:18 order. Pickup time 7:24. Complained at 7:35. Part of the order brought in a few minutes later. It's now 7:42 and our order isn't in yet. 3 cars in the lot, two waiting at the drive thru. Won't be back. Never again! Seriously, wtf?! read more

Service: 3/5 It took around thirty minutes for food to arrive. First they brought out 2 drinks then we waited longer for the rest. The girl serving us was very sweet though! Food: 3/5 We got four drinks and fries, after the infuriating wait, all the onion rings were burnt. My drink was good. But seriously? We went back, and they gave us a replacement. It was good but am still mad about it. Ambiance: 2/5 There was no inside. We parked at the screens. After a while, ours was broken. But we ordered on the app so it wasn't too big of a deal. Overall: I may not come here for any type of food again, but drinks were good! Service was below average and all in all it was an okay experience. read more

This location dicked around while we could fully see them in their fish bowl set up. Watched them let what appeared to be a non worker into the kitchen. Had to move from the pick up parking to go thru the drive thru because I sat there for over 20 mins. Just for them to grab my bag as if it had been sitting there for awhile. Doesn't seem like sonic should be that hard of a job but you got some duds in there lol read more

I love Michael! What a great team member. He was so positive, knew my order and gave it to me so politely. The drinks are always fantastic but Michael will remain in my mind for the rest of the day. What a stud. Hope you have a great day as I do. read more

Incompetent. I waited 10 minutes at an empty Sonic for my order of 2 drinks and fries, only for the fries to come out cold. What??? No other customers in sight to explain the wait. read more

Ordered ahead on the app and the burgers were good but sadly the groovy fries were not even full but they laid them to the side to make them look "fuller" and I paid a extra 2.50 for some cheddar peppers it was supposed to be a 6 count but I got a 4 piece and no ranch. The ocean water tasted sour. Thankfully the slush was good. Very disappointed because this one always hits and today they just kinda sucked :/ read more

Worse place to put for a quick fast food. This location is horrible starting with: 1) Speaker where you order either employee doesn't know how to use it or needs to be replaced. 2) Employee, no matter who but they give you attitude. My question... why work with customers or why work if you have an attitude, tone or rude. RUDE EMPLOYEES. 3) I ordered a #6 and hotdog was gross rubbery and chewy. How can cook serve that? Don't they see how hotdog looks? Damn they are blind. 4) Every time we go after 10 PM we are told ice cream machine is not working. Or cash box is out of service awkward. I parked to be served..it took them over 5 minutes to answer the call button and then they even shut it off on me. I had to push.the button again to get someone to answer . They are slow, can't work the drive thru and the sit and serve at the same time. Do not recommend. Even if you aren't in a hurry... read more

Sonic Drive-In - Burgers Near Me - El Paso, Texas

I like Sonic and usually used to go a lot when I was in South Carolina; it's delicious, especially the Milkshakes, but this Sonic, really sucks. I ordered a Milkshake, and they gave me milk with Oreo sprinkles like it was not cold; I would call it Oreo soup. Not even the ants would eat it. They make me doubt the whole concept and what I understand about Milkshake. I just got home and threw it inside the trash, like the worker overlooked it. Instead of doing something so disgusting, why don't you do it like McDonald's and say that your machine doesn't work, but no, they think it was a good idea to give milk with Oreo sprinkles or, better name, Oreo soup. I should have listened when they told me not to go to Sonic in El Paso for a milkshake. I would have been disappointed. read more

K, I'll be honest...I've never really eaten at a Sonic Drive-In before. Which, considering we routinely get my son food from there, may seem slightly ironic. But on this occasion, I wanted to try something specifically for the sake of testing out their mobile ordering. And my Gawd is it abysmal! Let me explain in 5 simple words: they don't have mobile ordering. See, they have a mobile app...which you can use to pay for your food, view their menu and check-in. But you can't....order...from the...app...gawddammit this makes no friggin sense! Why is this is so hard? McDonald's has mobile ordering. Starbucks has mobile ordering. Even frickin Red Lobster has mobile ordering! So, Sonic is tailor made for this very concept. Instead, you have to painstakingly drive up to the drive-in (80s style), order your food like smartphones aren't a thing, THEN...you have the option to pay for your food with the app...with a code you have to give to the drive-in teller. Vocally. The f*ck?! But you're probably wondering how the food was, right? Well, I ordered two breakfast burritos. I'll cut right to the spoilers and just tell you they make the taquitos from Whataburger look like fine dining. Because the eggs were slightly scorched in both burritos. Not to mention the bacon and egg one somehow had LESS flavor than the potato, egg and cheese burrito. My tastebuds were seriously confused. Ah well. At least I can say I got that experience over with. Oh, I also tried some mozzarella sticks because "da fam" claimed they were the best ever. Too bad you have to ask for marinara sauce (yeah..it doesn't automatically come with it). So, I heated up some tomato sauce from the house instead. They were actually pretty good. Maybe some people are fascinated with the experience of dining at wanna-be 50s style drive-ins (I wouldn't know. I got my food to-go). But Sonic...just doesn't do it for me. I don't understand the novelty and I feel as if they're severely out of touch with 21st century technology. More importantly, their food is mediocre at best...even for fast food. And that's really saying something. I'm giving them 2 semi-functional mobile apps minus the mobile ordering out of 5. read more

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and all through my pregnancy I've been craving slushes! I make my husband get me one constantly but we always have issues with our order and it being wrong. I usually let it slide because stuff happens. Well yesterday he brought us home some slushes and they had black things in them... now I love eating my slushes with a spoon so I noticed some little black specs but didn't think much of it at first, maybe it was stuff from another drink or something. Then I got towards the bottom and there was a big, black rubbery piece of material... about the size of my thumbnail. Definitely wasn't food... my husband got so scared of me finishing the slush that he threw it away quickly. Okay fine I won't drink it, no big deal. So he gave me his slush instead. Well, same thing happened. I dove into his half drunken slush with my spoon and there was more black stuff in it. He swore it was pieces of rubber based off how they felt. I'm scared for him for drinking half already and I'm scared for my baby. I'm very disappointed and scared. read more

I visit this Sonic location routinely due to its close location to my home. It is located across the El Dorado High School. I have always had great customer service here, whether it is drive thru or just through the drive in. My food is always prepared the way I order them and always arrives on time. In addition, the staff here is very friendly! I am an addict to their tater tots with chili and cheese! They are DELICIOUS AND ADDICTING! I am trying to get fit for summer, but I am always craving these tots! I also love their large variety of drinks, shakes and treats. I also have to talk about their onion rings, they are soo goood! Ive had them at other fast food places, and must say that Sonic tops all of them! Their new boneless chicken wings are also delicious! My favorite is their Asian zing boneless wings, very yummy, not too spicy, not too sweet but just perfect. Overall, great location, great food, and fun staff! Will definitely keep returning here for their tots, shakes, and wings! YUM! read more

I ordered three meals and they forgot two of my hamburgers. One was supposed to be a cheese burger but they forgot to add cheese. I called back so they could bring some napkins, my missing food, and marinara sauce. They came back with one napkin. Terrible service. I called again to let them know the soda was flat and I the cheese burger was missing cheese and they just shut off the notice and never answered. read more

It's been a while since coming to the location but this visit was unfortunately terrible starting with ordering through the speaker which I'm not sure if he couldn't hear me or maybe something else ordered a #1 with no ketchup. When I got my order I noticed they slapped every sticker they had basically signifying that my burger was just buns meat and mayo. Upon opening the wrapper that is exactly what it was, there was no veggies! When I saw the tots I noticed they were not golden brown but light colored and when I bit one it was like they just took them out of the freezer and warmed them up. This was nothing like other sonics I've been to. Need to get people trained in the kitchen and possibly fix the speakers to hear orders better. read more

What a mess?! Seriously?! The dri ve thru lane was super long. I was in the lane, from beginning to end, for over thirty (30) minutes. Three (3) cars BEHIND me got their orders before I did. I ordered from the mobile app for pickup, because it's supposed to be faster. I always like to think that maybe the next time it will be better, but for some reason something is always missing from my order. No matter how busy or not they are. Frankly it's a little off putting. This last time not only did it take thirty minutes to get my food but I was missing a meal, when I asked the young lady about it she seemed kind of bothered by it. I ended up just going to the drive thru and getting it. I understand how tensions are high right now because of the virus but I was wearing a mask and it's not like I was gonna cough in her face! I just wanted my order to be right for once. It would be cool if when you check in they send you a screen confirmation of what they have for your order vs. what you have. Anyway hopefully they will start getting better soon because it's the closest sonic to me by miles and I can't live without my strawberry limeades #firstworldproblems read more

Yes, it's a Sonic...and because it's fast food and for reasons of conscience, I cannot give it more than 3 stars. Any restaurant that has the majority of their menu deep-fried or frozen before preparation cannot get more than 3 stars, unless the food is unbelievable. And the food here is average but not bad. There are just two cons with Sonic that I could think of; the inconsistency of custom-ordered drinks that are not 'menu-standard'(like ordering a cranberry-strawberry-lemon fresh fruit slush and having it taste differently each time); or how the Sonic Blasts (ice cream with toppings blended thru) sometimes come with toppings only and just a cup of ice cream (a ripoff for $3 and up, depending on size). The pros do outweigh the cons, though. Managers and employees alike are quick to remake any drinks not to your liking, or credit you accordingly. The service is fairly quick and they have a wide assortment of sweet, salty, soft, crunchy and tasty treats, plus a couple of healthy options. And where else are you gonna go at 1am on a weeknight to satiate your sweet tooth or grumbly tummy? The menu at Sonic has something for everyone, and they are open early, and stay open late. Once in a great while, when a mistake is made and it is caught at the window, a manager might give you a 'poker chip'--this is redeemable for a free medium cherry limeade (my favorite drink at Sonic); I own 9 of these (I use these as card makers in my poker games sometimes). Yes, it IS a testament to the fact that they make mistakes (and whom amongst us does not?) but, more importantly, it testifies to Sonic's spirit that they will make sure your order is right, and they will make it right if it's not done properly. And I will continue to order with confidence whenever I drive up, knowing I will get what I ask for, even at 12:55am. read more

They smashed my food. I ordered 3 of the Kings Hawaiin Clubs, 2 chicken and 1 beef. The beef burger had been smashed so thin it was less than an inch thick. The chicken clubs were barely an inch tall had it not been for a thick patty. My two large orders of onion rings crumbled apart in their bags. I was not rude and did not give them any reason to serve me food in that condition. Gonna have to call the manager to let them know what happened. read more

Horrible service! During 2-5 I had to wait 45 minutes for my order and after all that wait the order was all wrong. Complained to a teenage manager and I got a poker chip for a free limeade drink and nothing else. Drive thru is even worst. Place is mismanaged. read more

I did not appreciate the rude girl who brought out my drinks who proceeded to tell me my coupon was fake (even though she took it) because the sonic survey number was quote "something you made up" . Terrible experience, whoever takes orders at window has a severe listening problem , had to repeat order at least four times and the order was still incorrect. I understood trying to give a speedy turn around to customers, but not at the expense of not paying attention to what you are doing and making simple mistakes such as not simply listening. read more
