I went to sonic last night and this lady with short hair taking my order messed the entire order up...I only ordered ice cream. I asked for a small three different times, she gave me a medium and charged me for a medium. I asked for chocolate syrup to be mixed in because they don't have chocolate ice cream. She made sure to only put it on the bottom of the cup. I asked for brownie chunks, there were only three and the rest were chocolate chips. Wow. First time at a Sonic and using the drive through window today in Gretna. As I checked fellow Yelper reviews at this location, it was surprising of the low scores and comments about the service using the drive through service. So far, my sentiments would be matching several of my fellow Yelpers. I counted only 3 cars in the service parking lot and 4 cars ahead of us in the drive through line. I was pleasantly surprised to see a 75 cent discount on the ordering screen due to happy hour specials. So. . . we just ordered a mini Oreo cheesecake shake. It totaled $5.36. When we got to our window to get the shake, it was extremely runny. Like--the consistency of water. So we went back through the drive thru, only to first be told there was nothing they could do because the shake machine wasn't working... Uhm, why didn't you mention that when we first ordered the shake?!?! So we waited for a bit while the lady talked to her manager. In a minute or two, the manager supposedly somehow "fixed" the shake machine. So we are guessing the shake was made ahead of time and just sat on the counter. Gross. And totally unacceptable!!!! We were once again reminded WHY we very rarely go to the Gretna Sonic. It's very sad--other Sonics we have been to offer quality food and better service. I echo the views a lot of other people have mentioned about the extremely long wait times. This happens to me wether in the drive-thru or pull into a stall and order. Staff isn't too bad, could be a bit more friendly, perhaps it's just s busy rush and they're trying their best to accommodate everyone and the big orders. Sonic has a lot of options for many people unless you are a vegetarian. They have burgers, chicken tenders, and shakes. It is very difficult to find something to eat here if you are on a vegetarian diet so I would not come here if you do have that diet. Another thing about this place is once they take your order, you will probably wait for it for about 20-30 minutes! Talk about not so fast! It is definitely the place to go if you want a slushie or shake but don't go here if you are hungry since you will have to wait. read more

This is probably the worst run Sonic I've ever been to. It's getting to the point where I'd rather drive to the Sonic on 180th and Center if I am just craving something from here. The day shift is always great (I bumped them to a 2 star because of that), but the night shift... it's the slowest service you can imagine. It can't be a Sonic problem because the other locations are much faster. It can't be a staffing problem because even when they have employees stacked shoulder-to-shoulder, it takes forever. It has to be something in the management or training level that is the source of the problem. Last night was the final straw for me and this Sonic. I pulled up to the drive thru order window at 6:30 pm. There were a few cars ahead of me and several cars in the ordering ports. The first thing I hear from the speaker is "Welcome to Sonic... we aren't accepting orders at this time". "Wait, what? Why?" "We are really backed up and aren't accepting new orders. If you want to wait for about 10 minutes we can probably take your order then". This really happened. A fast food drive-thru decided to stop taking orders because they couldn't handle a typical Friday night rush. Whoever owns this Sonic needs to do a deep dive on what the problem is with the store. Again, I love Sonic. I eat at other Sonics. I won't be eating at this Sonic again. read more

One of the worst fast food experiences I have ever had. We were hungry and the place we tried to go to first wasn't open yet. We got in the drive through line and it took close to 20 min for us to get to the window to pay. All our food was sitting in a bag on the counter where it clearly had been sitting for who knows how long. The guy working the window asked what we ordered when we pulled up so clearly he had lost track of orders. I have a pretty good tolerance for bad experience, but the food was below my bottom of the barrel standards for the quick food stop . After the wait the fries were cold and gross. The burger was cold to the point that the grease of the had congealed onto the cheese and it was like a wax coating . My husband was dealing with our baby who had started crying during the insane wait to let me eat first. I stopped after a couple bites and he insisted I eat my fries and I told him I was done eating because it was not good. I told him to eat his and I would take care of the baby. He took a bite of his burger then his fries and immediately stopped because it was awful. Inedible food. We spent about 25 dollars and threw everything away and drove to Casey's down the road to get some Doritos and beef jerky. read more

I am very disappointed in my visit for many reasons. To start, I had to wait an hour for my food to come out. Yes, it was busy but not that busy as to waiting an hour for your food. it's called fast food for reason. Then, when I pushed the red button, it took about 10 minutes for a server to answer, finally when the server answered, she had a poor attitude, and then on top of that it took 50 minutes for our food to come out. Keep in mind this was food for two people. When our food finally arrived. We were disappointed to see that the tots were cold, they spilled all over the bag, and we were missing a drink and silverware. Their priority was not the drive in it was solely the drive-thru. I was just trying to enjoy the last day of school but this ruined my day, and I want my money back!!!!! And as for the time I wasted there, I could've spent that doing anything else, but instead I was waiting an hour for some mediocre food, and cold tots. Picture this: It's a super hot sunny friday afternoon. A sonic slushie sounds fantastic to cool the taste buds. Tim greets us through the speaker. We say hello to tim and proceed to order a RASPBERRY slushie with nerds. Tim proceeds to put in a BLUERAPSBERRY slushie but we have to correct him 3 times. Tim must be deaf, or the speakers must not work very well because we had to keep repeating ourselves. Very quickly, the slushie comes out. To my horror, it's a blue raspberry slushie. Nate (the guy who brought it out) seems very nice but had to run back and grab a straw. Kind of annoying, but he seemed nice and I'm more upset with Tim and his cruel antics to ignore my request for a raspberry slushie. I hope Tim learns from his mistakes and no one else has to go through the trama that I did. read more

Sadly, as this Sonic location is very close to home, I have plenty of experience eating here. We initially avoided it for a while, because their apathetic employees couldn't have shown the customer more how much they disliked being at work, and there was the occasional order screw-up. I believe this Sonic is under new management, because over the last year or so, they've really improved the overall experience, and I like their happy hour. And the cheddar peppers. You won't find anything healthy, but it is a Sonic, so yummy down on a mustard-style bacon cheeseburger or an Oreo Blast and enjoy! read more

Sonic is good, when they have the cheap wings it is awesome, the variety of drinks is amazing. But it always takes 30 minutes just to get something simple which is a deterrent to going there. read more

Sonic is a place of nostalgia in my heart and I am pained to say that this particular Sonic Drive-In was lower than expected to say the least. To my surprise, my party of 5 was informed that the ticket could only be split 3 ways. This caused chaos in ordering and caused us, the clients, to go far out of our way for 5 separate orders. Place opens at 6, yet when i order some bacon I get scolded for ordering such as they just opened. Today, went through the drive thru, gave my credit card to the order taker then they just disappeared. Minutes go by and still no food and no credit card...I'm being held hostage by a fast food clerk. When I complain about walking away with a customers credit card for several minutes, I was told I was not allowed to return. So I went to sonic today for some dinner and this was my experience. We ordered our food and decided to pay with cash because all I had was a $100 bill. They took for ever to bring our food out and when they did they went to go get change to break my hundred. The lady came back and said her manager wouldn't take it. The service is always slow, despite having a half a dozen employees or more in the small shop. 9 times out of 10, they get something wrong with the order, especially if you make any changes from how it's made, such as having ketchup instead of mayo on a burger. Very good desert and drink menu items. Price is average for fast food. The food is meh, if it were based on the food (not deserts or drinks) itself, I'd give them a two. They are VERY slow. You can sit and wait about four times as long as you would in a typical fast food drive through, so just make sure you have time to wait, if you are in a hurry, you are going to be screwed. read more

I don't ever write reviews about places but I was so disgusted and disappointed in my service today I had to write one about this Sonic. I went through the drive thru and ordered a simple kids meal. There was 2 cars ahead of me and 1 behind me. It wasn't busy at all. I waited in the drive thru for a little over 10 minutes until I was finally at the window. I then waited at the window for almost 15 minutes until the cashier finally told me they hadn't even started my order yet and apologized and said it would be out shortly. As I was waiting at the window, I watched the cashier put food in the bags for other orders. She had no gloves on and reached into the fries, TOUCHING THE FRIES WITH HER BARE DIRTY HANDS and placing them in the fry container, then in the bag. She did this multiple times to every order. I was absolutely disgusted. I didn't eat the kids chicken and tots that I waited over 25 minutes for. Worst service. Unsanitary. Disgusting. read more
